Can Lori stop her friend’s killer before they strike again? Lori Keyes has survived her first busy tourist season as the owner of a bed and breakfast in the resort town of Dusky Cove, North Carolina—and she’s ready for a break. Lori’s looking forward to a weekend of learning new things, sharing great food, and enjoying time with her friends. But cracks are starting to show in the Bughs’ marriage, and the convention seems to hold more enemies than allies. But Lori isn’t the only one in trouble. This one left me guessing who the killer was unlike the first one! I had a feeling but there were 2-3 others that it definitely could’ve been. The only downfall for me so far, is it already seems the MC, Lori is going to be the one at the end of every book that needs to be saved. I dislike that a lot. I am looking forward to her new relationship with Mitch though! 😍
This book was marginally better than the first of the series. Yet again, though, Lori was unable to put together what was right under her nose for the second half of the book... I will not be reading the rest of the series...
Okay, so I gave this next book in the Dusky Cove series a try, despite the terrible predictability of the first installment. This time, I was still enchanted by the setting, the gorgeous historical inn in North Carolina, set in a charming, albeit law enforcement-challenged village along a beautiful river. The plot itself, although not quite as blatantly obvious from the very beginning as the first book, still was very obvious quite a long time before the end of the book. Protagonist Lori Keyes has to be one of the most incredibly stupid people to ever try to solve a crime. She endangers innocent people and sometimes even causes their deaths due to always seeming to suspect the wrong people and to actually throw them into the actual murderers' paths. I will try one more book in the series, since this one was marginally better than the last, to see if this was a fluke, or if, against all odds, the next one will actually be good.
A good read. Okay not outstanding but a solid cozy although you might spot the killer before the end. The characters are developing but I still find it hard to gauge the age of our heroine. Is she middle aged or younger? Her two mentors have come to stay with her so they can judge how she is doing and attend the Con with her. Their bickering is a backdrop but she is surprised by the hostility he (the male half of the ouple) shows t some attendees at the Con. However is death comes as a shock to her and his wife. Everyone wants to write it off as the act of his wife (they had just increased and changed the supplier of their life insurance) but she knows she didn't do it. Throw in the wife's death, frightened attendees and a scam. Can she rig the culprit to justice or will this cost her her life?
Lori has successfully made it through her first season at her B&B but not without more trouble at her inn. Another death in Dusty Cove. Even though the death does not happen at her inn, it still hits close to home when it involves her friends staying at her inn. Lori cannot help but to investigate.
This is a good clean mystery with a little romance add into the story. It is a fun, entertaining, and easy read that I finished in one sitting.
This is the second book in this series. It’s an ok book. Innkeeper Lori gets herself in hot water again by thinking she can do better than the police investigating a couple of murders. And of course ends up being almost killed… again. Would I recommend this book? If you have nothing better to read it’s not the worst you can do. This is better than book 1 so maybe book 3 will be better than this one. But I will not be reading more of this series.
Lori has survived her first B&B season while making fast friends with Mitch, the town's handyman. Lorie's two friends and trusted Inn advisors, Herb and Vera, visit her Inn while attending an innkeeper seminar. They both are murdered and Lorie is determined to find who killed her friends.
Friends come to town to go to a convention when one comes up dead it's time for another investigation. Twists and turns abound. Enjoyed reading this series so far like that there are no clift-hangers.
Lori's mentors visit so they can attend a nearby innkeeper 's convention. There seem to be tensions there, but her friends don't go into detail. Later she'll wish they had.
