The heroine was whining every time she saw the Hero: "you are a rock star, why you want to be with me...." And all this crap... I didn't like it.

In the first book of the Ocean Sands series, two people with vastly different lives are attracted to each other for a variety of reasons. Though Lauren Catalano and Noah Devereux think they have very little in common at first, conversations reveal some surprising similarities. As days turn into weeks, this couple must come to realize what will actually bring them happiness. C.J. Miller has created a story filled with true-to-life situations, where emotions are genuine and the reactions of characters are honestly depicted. I really liked Lauren plus Noah, and finding out what they would decide related to their relationship kept me reading and not wanting to stop. STARLIT SAND is emotional, passionate, and has lots of realism.

One night, Lauren Catalano goes to a home on business, and there is a party going on. After the lawyer gives some important papers to her client, she ends up staying for some of the festivities. While sitting near the ocean and relaxing, she and a male guest strike up a conversation. They then take a walk on the beach, and it leads to an unforgettable encounter. Lauren does not regret her impulsive decision, as thoughts about her recent divorce are now replaced with something much more joyful.

Afterward, Lauren learns his name is Noah Devereux, and although she did not recognize his face, she does know he is in a very famous band. When he admits his wish to meet with her again, she just thinks he is being nice. Noah is tired of being with women who only want him because of his fame. Since he really does want to see if he and Lauren might have something special, he will have to prove that he is sincere.

The family drama in STARLIT SAND could definitely take place. From an illness to conflicts to personal troubles, the story delves into circumstances which happen in real life, and the author makes each development very believable. I really felt for both Noah and Lauren on occasion, as what they had to go through was stressful every now and then. Their responses to these incidents were convincing, and I wanted to give them a hug during these instances.

From the beginning of their relationship, Lauren questions why someone like Noah would want to be with her. He is extremely popular with women, and she has never even followed his music. Yet the more time they spend together, the closer they become despite their differences. C.J. Miller had Noah and Lauren living through many ups and downs, making me happy at times while I became anxious during some of their more challenging moments. I really liked this couple, as Noah was so caring and unselfish, while Lauren was determined yet also vulnerable. Their relationship was sometimes touching, often emotional, and frequently heated because of overwhelming desire. There were many secondary characters introduced throughout the book, and I hope several of them get their own stories.

I voluntarily reviewed the book, and all comments are my honest opinion - 4.5 Stars

Did not like the male main character Noah. He rubbed me the wrong way and I just didn’t like the way he talked to Lauren and treated her. He seemed really misogynistic at times. I didn’t like how he had a problem with Lauren’s job and actually tried to make her leave and when she got upset had the audacity to say it was because he wanted to see her happy. Lauren herself was a mediocre character. Her personality was very two dimensional. Storyline was ok kind of dragged at places and skimmed on other parts. Overall a very mundane read wouldn’t read again.

I enjoyed this enough, but the set-up would have allowed for a far more entertaining story. I didn't really like Lauren, she was making things unnecessarily complicated.
I'm not really one for giving half-stars, but I guess this was a 3,5*.

I really liked it. It was a sweet story, I don't know if I will be reading the others. Because I'm not sure they are my cup of tea. But I loved this story.
