...then there was an ear splitting screech of the plane's metal skin tearing against something solid and a bone jarring impact, then nothing. Four strangers set out on a journey into central West Papua New Guinea, planning to go their seperate ways once the small plane lands. However things rarely go to plan in the steamy PNG jungle anf the men are soon thrown into a life and death struggle where they find beauty and peace alongside brutal violence and danger. They must put aside their differences if they have any hope to survive...
No Papuan character in this book has a name, or speaks. It's a white racist fantasy about a tribe of lost whites in the Papuan jungles, "discovered" and "saved" by four white men. In a country where the Papuan Liberation army is at war with it's Indonesian occupiers, I couldn't understand why there are no named Papuan or Indonesian characters; except for racism. This excop author needs to do some research and take a good hard look at his racist attitudes. Free Papua! Papua Merdeka!
Don't get many good tough adventure novels these days. Especially ones with unexpected story lines. This one has both. Really good read. Gave it to the wife when I finish and she enjoyed it too. I'd give it five out of five but thought the cover could be more interesting. Top read though.
Had not heard of Brett Wright before but picked up his book Paradise at Dymocks and it looked interesting. Well what a wonderful story. Totally unexpected where the storyline went. Thoroughly good story. Glad I've found this author as I'll certainly be reading more of his books.
I saw Paradise on Free West Papua page on facebook and ordered it. A real page turning adventure novel with some interesting facts about the Indonesian occupation of West Papua. I also read the sequel, The Jungle Deep and it was even better.
Got this as one of my first eBooks. Was not sure what it would be about except it was listed under adventure. This is an exceptional book, a great story, totally unique and a real survival story. Want something different? Get this book.
Loved paradise, great characters, gripping story, unexpected plot twists. Well written and a real page turner. Highly recommend this book. Best Fiction work I've read in a long time.
I read Ultimate Price by Brett Wright and then found this one. What a great story. Totally unexpected story line and I really enjoyed it. Will get the sequel The Jungle Deep next.
Loved this one. A writing style like Wilbur Smith. It's not caught up in being politically correct but tells a gritty action story that kept the pages turning for me. A real Five Stars.
