Time for Bed, Pete the Kitty, is a touch and feel board book that introduces the baby/toddler to the beloved preschool character Pete the Cat, when he is a tiny kitten. It goes through the bedtime routine that Pete the cat, and kids everywhere go through every night, from changing into pajamas, to brushing teeth and reading a story good night. All the while it allows babies to touch and feel the texture of a blanket, or a towel, or even at one point Pete's tail.
This book would be good for that baby-2 age because it is short, and interactive and serves as an early introduction to a character that they will surely see again.
Pete the Kitty is weird, but a pretty solid slice of easy and accessible reading to fill out nap and bedtime reading. Rowan's two favorite stuffed animals right now are his kitty and his fox, and he's very invested in whether or not our crabby old cat, Chaos, eats her food or not--"Kios! Food!" So Pete the Kitty is a fun way for him to get more kitty time.
Bought this book for my 2-month old son to read to him before bedtime. This is the first Pete the Kitty / Pete the Cat book I've ever read or owned. The art style is adorable and Pete himself contrasts well with the backgrounds (this capture's my son's attention really well). When I read this book to him he was glued to every page, so I'd give the visuals a 5/5. He also now opens his hand more when I help him to touch the materials in the book. I think the only issue I have with this little board book is that there is no ending page where Pete the Kitty is actually in bed, asleep. It just ends with him being given his teddy bear.
Pete the Kitty is adorable with such big eyes and helpful parents. Going to bed is a good time for taking care of yourself and this touch and feel book will help familiarize children with good bedtime habits.
I find it funny that Pete put on pajamas and even had what appeared to be a bureau full of clothes, yet up until he put his pajamas on, he wasn't wearing any clothes!
