The author uses a three-stranded approach to ordained service, eldership and oversight, tracing them through the Old and New Testaments and throughout Christian history. With insight on the present day situation, he provides a model for ministry which is relevant across all denominations.
This was a really helpful way of looking at ministry in 3 main terms the New Testament refers to leaders within the church: diakonia, presbyter, and episcope; which are service, ministry of word and sacrament, and oversight respectively.
Helpful way of looking at the whole picture in theory with some practical applications as well
A very engaging look at a different approach to leadership within ordained ministry. Cole makes a convincing argument for seeing the heart of all three traditional orders within each one, although at different levels and looks very practically at how this might work out in day to day ministry work.
