Questa serie mi piace molto, spero che continui a lungo. Mi piacciono l'ambientazione e il cast di personaggi. C'è anche una bella spruzzata di romance, che non guasta.
Per quanto riguarda questo libro, alla fin fine la soluzione era abbastanza ovvia, ma l'autrice è riuscita a lanciare delle esche che potevano far pensare anche ad altre soluzioni.

Georgie Tanner is pleased to serve at a local charity event and possibly get a glimpse of a sword once owned by George Washington. Georgie never expected the wealthy women to be so nasty to each other and is shocked by the vitriol of one of the women, a Mrs. Vanderton, who is universally disliked in town. When Mrs. Vanderton doesn't return from a break during dinner, Georgie is worried. Her instincts are correct when Mrs. Vanderton is found dead in the bathroom. Georgie never expected murder to be on the menu! When Frank reveals Mrs. Vanderton died of an allergic reaction and the caterer is about to be booked, Georgie knows she has to butt in and figure out who killed Mrs. Vanderton. She personally checked with the caterer to ensure no allergens were in the food. Can she solve the mystery before someone kills her?
I'm going to make this review short and simple. Don't bother with this installment of the series. It's the worst of the three I've read so far. Aunt Cecelia only has two guests at the inn so Georgie doesn't have any history tours. George Washington's sword is mentioned in passing before it's stolen and it disappears from the mystery. The mystery focuses on a bunch of rude, annoying, selfish rich people. If I were Georgie, I would have let them work out their own rich people drama because every time Georgie sticks her nose where it doesn't belong her life is threatened. I had a good guess as to who did it and why but it was complicated by other mysteries. I was intrigued by the new information Georgie learns about her fiance. It's just a brief teaser of what's to come later.
The editing was so insanely bad. The author or editor needs to go back to school! Mr. and Mrs. Miquel. Mr. Miquel's sword. The Miquels. The Miquels' house (the house belongs to the Miquels). There were also a few words missing here and there. I couldn't get past the bad grammar and editing.
Georgie wants to be a strong, independent woman but she needs Frank to come to her rescue every single time she's on her own. She really acts too stupid to live and for some of the things she does, she kind of deserves to be threatened. Being nosy I can accept but her actions are just plain stupid. Her adventures in baking continue with an experiment at creme brulee. That's beyond my skill level so how can a woman who doesn't know how to make pancakes make that? She doesn't have a double boiler but she uses a trick she learned from Aunt Cecelia but doesn't tell the reader what it is.
I DID like the cozy parts of the mystery. Georgie and Frank's relationship is changing. He's loosening up a bit more and that's really nice to see. He seems like a good guy but Georgie is way too ditzy for him. I especially love the plot with Oscar O'Neil, Georgie's neighbor. Like Georgie, I can see he's a softie on the inside and really hurting since his wife passed. His little dog Peanut/Bear makes the book. She is so absolutely adorable! I want to hold her and let her kiss my face. She's kind of the canine version of Georgie but cuter.
The new characters are mostly awful. Mr. Miquel, the host of the charity dinner seems OK but a bit eccentric keeping a priceless relic in his home without security. He also exhibits signs of a temper while speaking on the phone. His wife's best friend Gayle, an antiques dealer, may be a shady character. She sounds like she's focused on climbing the ladder of success and not so focused on what's making her unhappy. Like I said, rich people problems. Mrs. Vanderton is one of those bitter old ladies who has alienated everyone by her mean-spirited words and cruel gossip. She didn't deserve to be killed. Her sister seems much nicer for the brief minute she's in the novel. The parking valet is sleazy and only keeps from hitting on Georgie because Frank is there.
I ended up speed reading this book and skimming the last one to follow up on the throwaway bit about Georgie's fiance. I'm not interested in reading any more about this character.

The highlight of the party is to be the displaying of the sword Greorge Washington gave to John Paulding for detaining Benedict Arnold. Returning to the dining room to collect the dishes, Georgie notices that Mrs. Vanderton is missing. When she fails to return, Georgie wonders if she left, as she had earlier overheard Mrs. Vanderton in a heated discussion with one of the other guests.

I do enjoy this mystery series. It revolves around historic events and a girl who is trying to make ends meet by working at her 'Grandma's' Bed and Breakfast, working as a waitress, and trying to accomplish painting and baking. Her name is Georgie Tanner and she is a handful.
Georgie is working as a waitress for the annual fundraiser in town. George Washington's sword will be on display. The invited guests are of the upper crust and Georgie quickly learns that snarky gossip abounds even in this rare environment.
The woman who the gossip is centered upon is found dead. Then the sword is stolen. Georgie must figure out this puzzle. Then she becomes the target...what to do? Call her police boyfriend and figure this out.
This book is a quick read but very complete. The dialog is good, the story plots are firm. And, I'm always satisfied by the ending. Actually, it makes me want more. So, I'm following this author.
Give this series a read. The cooking disasters will have you laughing.

Looking at the reviews, I must be in the minority wondering why the main characters in cozy mysteries do such stupid stuff and willingly put themselves in danger without thinking twice. And then there is the police office who shares everything about an open case with the main character (his girlfriend) via text, encouraging her involvement. When does that ever happen in the real world?? I must be reading too much of this genre lately. It might be time for a change.

It was another entertaining cosy mystery. This series has certainly grown on me, and it gets tastier and tastier with each book.
In this book, murder happens at a charity dinner where Georgie participated as a server and the victim who was initially thought to have died of choking later turned out to have died of anaphylactic shock.
Moments later, a valuable relic from the George Washington era gets stolen and it confounds the investigation, throwing the police and Georgie off the trails.
Just like the previous book, I enjoyed the solid, complex mystery. Georgie's sleuthing might come across as subdued at a glance, but she had a knack and flair in finding clues and piecing them together, she always gets to the culprit first, putting the law enforcement to shame.
Georgie's list-making to sort out her ideas also helps to refresh our memory as well. I think it's a great way to review the case, as well as get us on her line of thinking.
I have come to appreciate Georgie's character better than before as well. I particularly value her nosiness is not as off-putting as other typical cosy mysteries. Sure, I did feel she became a tad more stubborn and headstrong than in previous books, but as Frank puts it, 'determined' and 'strong-willed' seems to be her middle name. I only wish she would lay it off a little bit - now that there's a budding romance developing between them, I'd rather Georgie listened to his warnings and stopped having him worry about her all the time.
This book is quite a page-turner. There are some suspenseful scenes laden with thrills and tension, and the strong mystery plot held my attention till the very end.
As usual, the ending remains as my only niggle, but I am, once again, happily give four stars.

After a woman died at an event Georgie and Cecelia were volunteering at, Georgie swore off volunteering as a server, but it didn't mean she was going to abdandon the mystery especially since she wanted to clear her own name.
I wanted to come back to this series that introduced readers to Kari Missler, bestie of Georgie and read some more of her background story. I'd started the Flamingo Realty series but still didn't feel I'd read enough of this one to feel like I knew Kari better. Sadly enough, I'd remembered her mostly in name only, so I'm hoping to concentrate on this series since it's quite a bit shorter than Flamingo and should be easy to get caught up in. I'm also enjoying Georgie's interactions with Oscar. Even though he's the curmudgeon of the series, I think I liked him since the beginning. I always felt there was more to him than just a grumpy old guy.
I just love Aunt Cecelia in this series, and Frank's such a sweet guy that I hope before the series is over he and Georgie can be more than just good buddies. But being good friends is the best way to start a relationship.
There were some good creepy scenes in the woods where Georgie had gone to check something out and yep as expected, she got an earful from more than one person about going in there alone. She did figure out the killer while another person involved helping the killer spilled their guts too. I really loved the sweet ending!

I enjoyed this new addition to the Baker Street Cozy Mysteries. Georgie and Frank are growing closer as Georgie is slowly healing from the trauma of seeing her fiancee die in an unexplainable automobile accident. Their growing friendship/romance enables them to collaborate in solving the mystery of the death of one of the town's most disliked citizens, a disagreeable socialite who has spent her inheritance and faces losing her historic home. The murder occurs at one of the most anticipated social events of the year, hosted by a wealthy local history buff who proudly displays a very old American saber once a year at this party. The fun turns into horror when the body is discovered, the victim having been murdered while the other guests enjoyed dinner. Georgie's sleuthing leads her into some personally dangerous spots, but her clues plus the forensic evidence the police contribute lead straight to the killer.

Georgie Tanner is at it again! In this third book of the Baker Street Cozy Mysteries, Georgie has volunteered to help at a benefit dinner where a sword that George Washington presented to the man who captured John Andre is displayed. When one of the diners turns up dead and the sword is stolen, Georgie (and her curiosity) are thrust right into the middle of the mystery.
This is a fun quick read. The mystery of the dead woman was good, but I wish there had been a little more added to the part with the missing sword. I always like the American history incorporated in this series, but that was minimal in this book partly due to it being a slow time for the B&B.
I like that Georgie and Frank's romance is heating up. And I'm waiting to learn more about the mystery that has overshadowed all of the books in the series: what happened to Georgie's ex-fiance? An important clue is given here (no spoilers).

Continuing along with the main characters in her series, CeeCee James continues to entertain and surprise the reader.
This was a great book, part of Ms. James series about a B&B and the owner, her grandson and the "tour guide" . The tour guide was raised by her late grandmother who had been best friends with the owner of the B&B. As a result she often used to play with the grandson, and both had left the small town and come back within the past several years. That is the back story that weaves the threads through the series. The grandson is a police officer and murder in the small town just seems to land the curious your guide in the middle of investigation. This book, and the whole series, enraptured the reader with the murder, people around the murder (suspects,etc.) The main characters are great, and the suspects leave the reader in suspense until the end. Great book!

Cleverly Plotted!
A fancy fund raising gala dinner, a missing antique sword, & a dead body. What do they have in common? Georgie Tanner! Once again our intrepid heroine becomes involved in another murder mystery. Unfortunately, this time around she finds herself in the middle of some very dangerous situations. She is giving poor Frank quite a bit of grey hair! Speaking of Frank, that relationship is moving along quite nicely, which makes me very happy as I am a romantic at heart. It’s nice to see both Georgie & Frank moving forward with their lives. I do find myself wondering about a statement curmudgeonly Mr. Oscar made that might foreshadow things to come. Lots of plot twists kept me guessing till the very end. I really enjoy this series & am eagerly awaiting book 4!

With the sharp tongued Veronica, who complained constantly, murdered at a charity event. The caterer, Adele, as well as Georgie , who acted as server, are at the top of the list of persons of interest. Georgie and the police have to find the murderer before Georgie becomes the next victim.

Nothing much here. While mildly entertaining I do not expect to add this author to my “must read” list. The main character spends a lot of time tucking her hair behind her ears and texting her policeman friend. He always responds immediately so there is apparently little crime in this town. He also tells her everything that is going on with the investigation. Is this common police procedure? And she is worried about paying her rent but seldom works. Too many little things like that for me to become a fan.

Georgie's funds have been a mite slow coming in with the tourist wane so she's taken on a side gig as server at a posh dinner. And wouldn't you know it, just when it all seems to be going well, someone's missing from the dinner table, and is found dead in another room. Anaphylactic shock? Or murder?
Georgie plans to find out before her caterer friend is left holding the can!
And it looks like things between her and Frank are really starting to heat up! Another great time spent with what are quickly taking their place among my favourite characters!

Great edition to the Baker Street series. Once again we get to see Georgie Tanner overcome the loss from her past, develop her sleuthing skills, and build relationships with 3 other sub-characters. Her relationship with childhood best friend Frank, an ex-military and police officer, plus grandson of Cecelia the B&B owner her unofficial Aunt, and Oscar O'Neil the crotchety old widow neighbor and his dog Bear aka Peanut. These relationships are heartwarming and give a real feel to the books. As for the mystery, there were several twists and a couple red herrings...only problem is figuring out which is which! Strongly advise this series along with CeeCee's two other series...all three worth reading.

Georgie Tanner is working at a charity event her friend is catering while assisitng her grandmother. She hopes to get a glimpse of the sword from George Washington days. One of the guest comes up missing during the dinner party and they find her dead and the sword missing. They are now in a mystery as to what happened to the dinner guest and who stole the sword. Murder mystery that is very easy to follow and a great, and fun read.

A step up from the previous two not least because the title is so ridiculous (though the series being called Baker Street Mysteries is very, very misleading for its US setting). This one has a decent range of suspects, and a despicable victim (so the murder is OK), and James has started to flesh out her supporting cast. Its still painfully generic, but that is sort of what I am here for, an hour long read that scratches some weird itch between big books.

Another fun read
I love this author's writing, its always entertaining and the mysteries never get dull or overused. Georgie can't help but be curious which always leads to trouble. There is more romance this time, which was great and a good ending with just a hint of something curious about her fiance who passed. I can't wait to find out!

Fun Read.
This is a quick read, nothing complex but it does do a good job establishing character and setting. I would give it a higher rating, but it had some words that had been auto corrected into nonsense. It needs to be read by a good proofreader. Then the story will be as charming as the author intended.

Georgie is serving, at the annual charity dinner, and as the meal continues, there is an empty chair at that table, of which Mrs Vanderton is to be at. Along with the priceless item that was on displayed. There is now murder, and Georgie, is she guilty. More mayhem comes, as she tries to solve, delightful. Characters we love reading about , and enjoyment to read the authors books.

So Good
I just love CeeCee James. I will read every book she writes. They are fun, fast moving and have little crumbs of more mystery to look forward to. On top of that I love her central characters and how their personalities unfold with each book. I especially love that they are a decent clean read without being pious, pompous or too goody, goody.

Great book!!!
Pay close attention to the details in this book! The mystery was actually hard for me to figure out, which I love!!! most of the time you know whodunit in the first few pages. I !one Georgie, though she does some incredibly stupid things sometimes. I also like that she is moving on from her fiance.

I love "food" related cozy mysteries and this one was "okay." My guess is that the author is a really good cozy writer but this one was short on depth both in the story and the characters themselves. If there is one that focuses on Cecelia, I would like to find and read it next....she seems to be the person who has a story.

I love this series! This 3rd book was as cosy and comforting as the other 2 with a fun mystery to solve as well, where, for a change, a guest at the b&b wasn't a part of the actual crime! I really enjoyed watching Georgie and Frank's friendship develop into something more. Looking forward to continuing the series.
