This one picks up where the last one left off with just as much of an exciting thrilling adventure as the first one. I was held on the edge from one adventure to the next with such a thrilling ride that kept me glued to my seat. Mitch is on the run trying to stay one step ahead of his killers. In some ways I can relate to this, there has been many days I would have loved to just look at my boss and say are you kidding me, and tell him what he can do with his plans. Here the boss doesn’t like what he has done and is out to make sure he doesn’t breather another day. You know you are having a bad day when you survived a deadly virus that some crazy man injected you with only to find out your boss has a hit on you which leaves him with little choice but to join the former assassins to bring down his boss and all he stands for.
The narrator as always does a wonderful job from his character voices to the emotion. His character voices are wonderful you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. His male to female voice is great and easy to follow with smooth and even when changing to one character to the next. He gives the right tones for the scenes you can hear the fear, excitement, danger in the characters voices. His performance is just outstanding. There is no background noises, no volume changes, no repeating of words just a very clean and clear audio that pulls you in. If any breaks were taken I could not tell it was just a very clean and clear audio that I got lost in. The narrator normal voice is just a wonderful as his character voice keeping you on the edge with danger and true emotion that makes your heart beat a little faster as the scenes unfold keeping you on the edge. Mr. Jordan does a great job bring the audio alive making you feel each emotion, danger and excitement that the author gives. It was a thrilling ride that I totally enjoyed from a very talented narrator.
It is a very intriguing listen that captivated me with danger and adventure one after another. There is drama as he takes out first one person and then another never knowing when it might be his turn. This is just as good as the first one in this series. You can read as a standalone but book one gives more insight to the story. The author gives a well-thought-out plot that makes you want to listen until the end. The characters are believable and become your friends. I had no trouble playing out the scenes in my mind. I am so hooked on this series and can’t wait for the next one to come out. If you love action adventure, thrills and chills that is fast pace and keeps you on the edge this is for you.

Mitch Herron was an assessin, working for the Enclave, always working alone and not questioning his orders - until recently.That one time he'd disobeyed instructions to give up a job before he had completed it, killing another agent in the process. Now he was out and would, himself, he hunted. He'd barely survived that last mission, aided by a woman named Erica. She's saved his life and given him a safe house whilst he recovered, which only she knew about, personally bringing him provisions at the same time each week. But they found him, which meant they'd found her, as well. Now he not only needed to keep himself alive, but feels responsible for Erica, also. But for both of their safety, he can't take her with him so hides her, promising to return, and it isn't long before a meeting with another assassin convinces him that the very organisation he'd server for so long had to be destroyed.
Although the second a trilogy, it is not necessary to have read the first book to be fully involved in The Shadow Enclave, a well written, fast paced action thriller where the edges blur between right and wrong. Even assassins can have a conscience. Narrator Tom Jordan again becomes Mitch Herron, his reading keeping pace with Herron's predicaments, always clearly expressed, voice well intoned and modulated, pleasant on the ear. The other protagonists are also given distinct and appropriate voices. A fine performance

Wow, I loved this book. I enjoyed the first book in the series and when I finished it I was straight onto the next book to find out what happens to our hero, - okay not sure you can call an assassin a hero but anyway, the story picks up straight from where book one left off and like book one this is another action packed story that is a lot of fun to read and listen too. Yep I got it in audio so I can gear it again.
The main character (hero) just survived a deadly poison but he hasn't even been released from the hospital before he is on the run and fighting for his life. With deadly assassins on his tail can he take down his old bosses and live to fight another day.
I loved everything about this book, hence the five stars. I am now off to get book three to find out what happens next.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.
This book picks up right where The Omega Strain ends. Just like the first one, this one packs a punch. The author does a masterful job keeping you on your toes. These may be shorter listens, but they are extremely intense and action packed throughout. These can be listened to out of order or as standalone stories, however, they make the most sense if listened to in order.
The narrator delivers another fabulous performance in this performance. His deeper tone and slightly rougher voice amplify Mitch Heron as a character and capture the serious attitude an operative would need to have. This is especially apparent throughout Heron's internal dialogue. Perfect fit for thrillers like these, and a pleasure to listen to!

This is book two in the Mitch Herron series and I was super excited to start this book straight after finishing book one.
Mitch Herron, an assassin working for a well connected collective (The Enclave) that helps get rid of the bad guys or do they? Mitch Herron didnt exactly follow orders on his last assignment and is now on the receiving end of being hunted by the Enclave.
Mitch is keenly aware he is one of the best, but can he rely on this fact to save his life. You can be the best, but when a well resourced Enclave is directing all their best efforts to wipe Mitch out, there is no shortage of action and twists and turns.
This was a brilliantly written and narrated audio book and kept me on the edge of my seat right the way through the book.
A great action packed read. I cant wait to read the next book in the series.

You don’t have to read the 1st book in the series to appreciate this one, but it makes this one better. Mitch has survived the small pox virus that was injected into him, only to discover that his former employer, The Enclave, has a hit on him. Mitch joins forces with a small band of former assassins to bring down the Enclave. Will they succeed before the assassin who is better than Mitch, earns his kill...aka Mitch?
This book was even more intriguing that book 1 and looks as if there is a book 3 coming! I need to find out if The Enclave is permanently put out of business. Awesome narration.

Mitch Herron has survived to continue taking care of the real bad guys. Even if he is an assassin he is a good guy. Erica saved him of course (we knew she somehow would) and is tangled up even more in the backlash from Mitch stopping the Omega Strain. His handler is truly a bad guy just as the overall bosses, The Shadow Enclave members are.
Taking care of the Enclave turns out to be much more than what he thought it might be. He has some help from Rogue agents (assassins) but things never go smoothly for Mitch it seems.
A great next in this series. Well underway with the 3rd, Lazarus Project where I hope Mitch and Erica might find a happy ending. These are fast paced good reads with very few typos. Take the time if you like this kind of story. They are well done.

Like the first book in the Mitch Herron series (The Omega Strain), The Shadow Enclave was at the same time wildly unrealistic and reasonably entertaining. But alas it will be the last Steve P. Vincent book that I read. The Shadow Enclave ends with an unfinished story, an infuriating cliffhanger, and a link to buy the next book in the series. It was obviously contrived to trap innocent readers into being forced to buy the next book, and it was despicable behavior on the part of this author. I will NOT buy the next book or any other book by this author, and I will likewise avoid other authors that try this kind of manipulative trickery.

What can I say, Mitch is a little crazy but that's exactly what I love about these books.
In this occasion, poor Mitch get trashed around with lots of crazy assassin's that think they can, maybe stop this super organization they worked for.
Now the funny remarks made it super Mitch style, and made my day a lot but I did felt the adrenaline rush with the assassin's on tail.
another cool one for the series, can't wait to finish then off.

how bad can a guy be and still be called a "good guy"?
yes, it's a short story, but it flies faster than a peregrine falcon caught in an updraft! I was actually winded when the pages had scrolled up to 100% and five empty stars stared back at me. if you ever meet a killer named Shade, stay down. if you ever meet a guy named Mitch Herron, stay down still till he tells you Shade went bye bye the hired assassin way. the "good guy" should have been called Timex, though, cause he can take one heck of a beating and still keep right on ticking...

This was a great book with fantastic characters and a good plot action packed start to finish...... the end of the book was like sitting in the theatres watching the first Lord of the Rings thinking how did they end it here! This book just ends in a way that’s disappointing as you want it to continue. It does continue in the next book but I feel that the two could have almost been made into one book! Stay tuned I have to get the next book and read it NOW!

Even without reading book 2 think this book stands alone as a crime book. Mitch Herron survived taking care of the real bad guys. Even if he is an assassin he is a good guy. Erica saved him of course Enclave turns out to be much more than what he thought it might be, things don't go smoothly for Mitch it seems. And I hope Mitch and Erica might find a happy ending. Appreciate fast paced good reads with very few typos & well done.

Meh. It’s not the worst but not even close to the best. I feel like the premise is from A Gray Man or John Milton book and then there are stark differences. The writing is a little juvenile. There is significant word over usage. Bump Key was beyond overused. It actually became aggravating. I don’t expect everything to go smoothly but there were obvious holes in the plot therefore I’m passing on the series.

I liked this a lot better than the first book. This was a better type of story IMO. Fallible hero who is not the strongest player on the board. The story didn't seem to take itself too seriously, it was a fun story with a lot of action. Looking forward to reading the last book and finding out how it all ends.

As good as - nay better than - book 1
I was inclined to give up reading after the first few chapters as it felt predictable and a shallow continuation of the Omega virus threat.
Suddenly the plot expanded and the shadow enclave came alive!
The only hackneyed aspect is how all the best of the best died while the hero comes out smiling....(Well nearly alive!!)

Great Follow up
A great sequel in the Mitch Herron series and I am looking forward to the next.Lots of action with plenty of twists and turns and an ending that leaves you wanting more.

Continuing straight after the conclusion of book one, Mitch Herron has survived the deadly virus. However, having disobeyed orders, he is now being hunted by his former employers. Good follow up book, more a part two, as you definitely need to have read the first book.

Quick and painful
Intense action and suspense. I feel as if I'm missing some background information, and this impacts my subjective experience. I like Herron, I just don't know what to take away from the situation. Perhaps I will read the next book...

Good page turner with lots of action. Even through this book leads into next series book, I found all main plots completed. Good main character to keep story together. Author wrote good read.

Some thrillers are layered stories where each layer slowly adds to the suspense under you are on edge. This is not one of those books. This is a sports car driving at 100kmh through a crowded street with no brakes, while random people shoot at you.
It is a good read but leaves you exhausted.

Could have had more depth, plot was too shallow and predictable. But for the price it was entertaining for a while.
