This is my first book by Delaney Diamond and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. This is a short and sweet story featuring an American woman who experienced a romance with a Prince that resulted in a child after they went their separate ways. Prince Kofi ended up marrying when he returned to the country of Zamibia but tragically lost his wife which spear headed the search for Dahlia, who is essentially the one that got away.

When Kofi finds out Dahlia has a child he is instantly upset because she hid little Noel from him. On the other end Dahlia is scared that Kofi found out because she figured he didn't care. Prince Kofi presents Dahlia with an ultimatum: leave America and come to Zamibia and marry him or he will take Noel and leave Dahlia behind because he's the Prince and what he says goes but also because Noel is his sole surviving heir. Dahlia agrees (with a bit of a struggle) to uproot her life and move cross country.

The story evolves around the fact that both Dahlia and Kofi were victims of misinformation but this, albeit forced, opportunity allows them to figure out each other again and rekindle the love that was never truly lost. I feel the story was written very we although I wished it was longer because some areas were definitely rushed. I also really loved the immersion into African culture.

Overall, if you're looking to expand your women of color tastes, do give Princess of Zamibia a try. I look forward to Princess of Estoria which is Angela's story.

First off... I do not think this book was 198 pages! Can't be!

Now on to the story. It was a quick, cute read. Dahlia thought she ran far and long enough from Kofi, but he found her and issued an ultimatum that would change the course of both of their lives. I loved that this was a story about a strong African Nation and its King, Prince and rest of the Royal Family. I love that the cover seems to be an accurate description of Dahlia. The visualizations that Delaney Diamond provided about the scenic view of the palace, countryside, the garb and the people just added to the story and the nation of Zamibia. I felt like I was right there with the characters. I am interested to see who will be featured in book 2!

2.5, to be fair. This book has so much potential. SO MUCH POTENTIAL! There's interesting conflict between the two main characters, and I like the fictional kingdom of Zamibia that Delaney Diamond created. She does a good job at fleshing out the history, politics and traditions of the country. There's also a decent mystery that she does a pretty good job of setting up (even if the culprit is fairly obvious from the get go).

The book's main weakness, though, is there is just too much going on in too little space. Kofi, Prince of Zamibia, comes to the U.S. to claim his son, and ultimately, his son's mother, Dahlia. He still thinks that Dahlia is a thief who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from his family. So, already, we got a secret baby and a second-chance romance brewing.

After he shows up and demands custody of their son, Dahlia is put in the position to either marry Kofi and move to Zamibia (to legitimize their son's claim to the throne) or be separated from her son forever while she fights Kofi in the courts. (She's also forced to do what Kofi says because she knows that he can just take their son out of the country with no repercussion. Thanks, diplomatic immunity!) Now, we got a marriage of convenience in the mix.

That's a lot it messy conflict and emotions to be juggling. It's great conflict, tbh! And I was looking forward to reading as these two characters work through their past hurts and learn to trust one another. But, I didn't get that. Instead, they just go on about how *~*~*~*HAWT*~*~*~* the other is and how they missed the sex, and suddenly they're spouting "I love you"s to each other. Everything just gets wrapped up, neat and tidy. It's v. unsatisfying.

Also,

This wasn't a terrible book, but I would have loved it more if I had felt closer to the characters. I'll still probably check out the next one. Angela and Andres have less baggage, which should hopefully mean a less complicated love story.

Loved. This. Book!!!

What an unexpected pleasure! Had no idea Delaney Diamond had a book coming out, so when I saw this (that cover!), I couldn't buy it fast enough. And it's a series? Be still my heart!

Dahlia and Kofi's story was a great way to start the series. I loved these two together, and little Noel was too cute for words. I like a good second chance story, and although the reunion got off to a very shaky start, I'm glad the author didn't drag the story out with a lot of complications and misunderstandings. These two had a connection that was hard for them to ignore. I enjoyed watching them rekindle their love. I knew that there would be some intrigue, and although I figured out early on who the bad guy was, I was surprised by what happened and why.

Lots of interesting secondary characters. Can't wait to see whose story is next. I've got my fingers crossed that Angela gets a story. I was initially hoping she'd get matched with Yasir (because gorgeous), but after the two princes showed up, I'm rooting for one of them.

Don't miss this one!

Well, this was cute, but the male lead was kind of a pig. They had good chemistry though. I liked that the author spent time creating a country with customs, languages, and a historical background. It felt less like a random fictional country.

Cute

I love a romance with Black royalty and secret children. Yepp, I’m a sap. This was a super cute story and would make a great beach read. Things wrapped up perfectly.

This is a story simply for enjoyment, requires no deep thinking and doesn’t really have any depth. But if you want something to enjoy that’s romantic and wholesome this is the book for you. My only complaint is that sometimes the dialogue made me roll my eyes and the sex scenes? Definitely skipable.

I like that the “Secret Baby” is already born at the start of the book, but that couldn’t overcome my distaste for the imbalance of power between Dahlia and Kofi. Something that I can enjoy in fantasy novels is too uncomfortably real in a contemporary setting, especially when child custody is involved.

kofi was a dick and dahlia was wishy washy and annoying. didnt buy their love or need for each other and their relationship needed more to make it believable. issues were solved with no fanfare that had been problems for years. ended up feeling bad for the villains at the end of the book.

I really enjoyed this story. I love to read about black royals and their traditions. This was a second chance at romance after a misunderstanding for the two main characters. There are some twists and turns that you don’t see coming. All in all a good read.

3.5 - good writing and characters with a decent plot mixed in. I felt like angst of the second chance trope was quickly resolved when they got back together.

This book had been recced to me a little while ago as another adult romance book with the convenient marriage trope and since it was on KU, I decided to give it a try. And it was an enjoyable romance, though there were some parts which I wish could have been done differently.

Dahlia and Kofi had split up after Dahlia's boss had embezzled money from Prince Kofi's country and Dahlia had gotten her share of the blame. Only trouble was that Dahlia had been pregnant when they split and hadn't told Kofi about his son. Kofi showed up, said he was taking his son and Dahlia could stay in America without his son, or come with him back to Zamibia as his wife.

There were several things I liked about this book. It was an enjoyable read, very quick and I liked the main plot of the book apart from the romance, with the secrets and mistakes of the royal family impacting those living in the present. The made-up country of Zamibia had obviously had a lot of thought put into it, with a history, government and several laws all set in place.

Now the issue I had with this book was that I wanted more and not in a good way of 'I want more books about this couple' but more 'they glossed over this part of the book I was really looking forward to'. Like I mentioned above, I enjoyed the main plot of the book outside of the romance with the King's illegitimate son coming back to get revenge on his half-brother and father and I almost wish more attention had been paid to that.

The romance I think suffered a little bit - at the start of the book Kofi essentially blackmailed Dahlia into marrying him by holding her child over her head and she didn't have any choice in the matter. But this is never fully addressed, Kofi never experienced a moment of regret about how that is not how you treat someone, especially the mother of your child and your soon-to-be wife and Dahlia never brings him up to task about it. And we saw Dahlia struggling a little with her new life and responsibilities, none of which she particularly chose because of the aforementioned blackmail, but then Kofi does something sweet and all her issues magically disappear.

When I read a book which has the convenient marriage + hidden child tropes, I expect some conflict over how they married and how the outsider adjusts to their new life, but we didn't get to see any of that. All the conflict came from the subplot about Noel being in danger and how Dahlia, for a brief moment, blamed her husband when he promised they would always be safe. I shouldn't get to the end of the book and think, 'yes, Dahlia, take his offer to leave and run' because I should want them to be together. Their romance felt very unequal from the start and this is never really fully addressed. As for the subplot about the oil mining corporation - it got about four scenes in the book in total and seemed completely unnecessary. I would have preferred if the mine collapse had been an accident because we would have been able to see Kofi and the King handle this criticism as best they can.

I didn't dislike this book, it was very readable but it fell short to me several times along the way. I'm glad it was on Kindle Unlimited because I think I would have been a little frustrated if I had spent money on it but I didn't regret reading it and I have chosen the next book in the series on KU.

The story starts with Prince Kofi's discovery of a son he never knew about and his decision to take his child back to his country. As crown prince, his son is in line for the throne and should not be denied this right. Kofi is harsh with Dahlia whom he believes has been deliberately dishonest in keeping the truth from him. It doesn't help that their break-up three years ago was hinged on a crime he accuses her of.

Kofi was a little too arrogant for my liking. Usually some major grovelling is needed for heroes like that to win me over. I didn't get that, although Ms Diamond does a great job of showing us that our hero has eyes only for the heroine. There were a couple of things the hero did that were clearly influenced by the heroine, which was also great. The chemistry between Kofi and Dahlia is strong, and the addition of Noel is the icing on the cake.

Although they started out fighting, it was clear Kofi and Dahlia never stopped loving each other. I liked the fact that they were both willing to admit their feelings early in the story, which made their romance sweeter.

There were elements of suspense in the story. The villain wasn't a huge surprise, but this person's motivation was something I didn't anticipate. I like how that was done. I also had fun reading Prince Kofi's dialogue in a Hollywood African accent (yes, I'm weird like that).

That said, I felt the story spent too much time delving into the setting, culture and politics of Zamibia. Yes, it was important to show Dahlia immersing herself into her new home, and to learn about Zamibia through her eyes. However, the amount of time spent on it took away from the romance for me. I wanted to see more of Kofi and Dahlia together on the page as a couple.

Kofi had an erroneous belief about Dahlia from three years before, which played a major role in their break-up. Although this is somewhat resolved, I was not satisfied with the 'how'. It seemed as if he just got up one day and changed his mind - something he could have done three years ago, so why now?

The name of the country was also a minor cause of confusion as I kept reading it as Zambia instead of Zamibia.

I enjoyed Ms Diamond's writing and would definitely be checking out more of her work. I'm particularly excited about the next installment in the series.

She's Your Queen to Be

Princess of Zambia is a modern fairy tale. It makes you think of Coming to America & Lion King Meets Black Panther.

*** Warning: This Review Contains Spoilers ***

What I Liked:

1. Noel. The author did a great job of making me adore this Little Prince. His character comes across as cute and lovable.

2. Dahlia and Kofi have really good chemistry and Ms. Diamond did well at making their relationship believable.

3. Ms. Diamond also did well at designing and "world building" Zamibia. Her descriptions of the people, food, and culture we're intriguing.

What I Didn't Like:

1. I wished the conflict with Kemal was more detailed. It felt rushed. We didn't learn much about him until after he held King Babatunde and Noel at gunpoint. It kind of felt like the original conflict was supposed to be between Dahlia and Kofi, but they made before halfway through the book, so we needed another issue to carry us through to the end. But, since the author kind of hid Kemal away until she needed him it seemed off and somewhat cliche.

2. Another conflict that the book had was between Kofi and Alistair Davies (Titanium Oil). After the Prince's decision to work with another oil rigging company Davies plotted to have one of Zamibia's mines rigged with a bomb. This subplot also felt rushed. Although, the author made it obvious that Davies was an antagonistic character, she kind of just told what happened as opposed to providing more detail and allow the reader to see and experience it. It would have been more satisfying to read it from Davies perspective him plotting to have mine rigged. Instead it's secondhand information and everything is pretty much open and shut.

Overall, I would recommend this book to someone interested in a short read about a modern fairy tale. It is sweet and light read with enough drama to keep your engaged.

4.5 Lovebites.
So Ms Diamond wrote a story set in Africa. A fictional African country, mind you. But I'm so glad she pulled it off. The blend of cultures and the setting was certainly believable.

Kofi and Dahlia had been in love and had a passionate relationship until they broke up because Dahlia's company had embezzled money from Kofi's estates.

Now Kofi is back in the US to claim the son he didn't know existed until a few days prior. Because of the mistrust between them when they split up and Dahlia found out she was pregnant, she didn't tell Kofi about their son Noel.

I have to say that I'm not a fan of women who hide children from their fathers for selfish reasons and it took me a while to warm to Dahlia.

But it soon becomes obvious that others had a hand in Kofi and Dahlia's relationship breakup and I couldn't help rooting for them to get their second chance and build on their young family.

As usual, this author delivers a wonderful romantic read. This is a great start to the series and I'm looking forward to more African princess and princess. Yum.

Fun, if lightweight

Who wouldn't want to be a princess? Especially when the Prince is both gorgeous and loving and an excellent ruler. Not to mention a great father to your son, who himself is adorable and adorably behaved. (We could argue that the stuffed worm had more personality, but that might be a little snarky.) I was a little disconcerted at the similarities with Alyssa Cole's A Princess in Theory, but that could be seen as a plus, since I enjoyed them both. I wish the characters felt a little more defined as people, perhaps if the book had been a bit longer, there could have been more character development. Also, the casual acceptance of a constitutional monarchy, no matter how benevolent, is uncomfortable. But I say, forget all that, peel another mango and enjoy the main plot device: what will our heroine wear in the next scene?

Exceptional!

Wow! I loved this story! I was captivated from the beginning to the end. Whisked away to Zamibia - I felt like I was really there. Dahlia couldn't resist the commanding Prince Kofi Francois Karunzika - she loved him. Kofi loved her, and his son. What a man...I would love to meet someone like Kofi! (Smile)
This story had me gripped throughout! The suspense, the intrigue had me riveted to my chair, I couldn't put it down. Would Dahlia escape and live the life she wanted and not what Kofi demanded?
Did she have a choice?
And Kemal! I never saw that coming! I was scared! It was great, fantastic story! I didn't want it to end. Well done Delaney Diamond. This is another one of my favourites of her books. I look forward to book 2 of the Royal Brides series. Awesome!

Noel may have seemed to be the reason but he was the added bonus

What a lovely moment. Where passion and purpose collide. Delaney takes us on this journey where love conquers all and betrayal heartened the heart. Kofi is the Prince of Zamibia, fierce leader and protector. Dahlia the artsy American woman, full of life and strength. The two who on the outside seem polar opposite rekindle a passion that was lit via a business engagement, yet ended via a grave misunderstanding. You'll route for the couple. You'll have compassion for the villain in the story. As it's nothing like a sin coming home to roost. The story is a delight and Delaney ensured to be as descriptive as possible to have us placed in her fictional world of Zamibia

Loved It!!!

This book contains two of my favorite storylines. Dahlia and Prince Kofi met while she was doing business in his country and became lovers. Due to a misunderstanding concerning the business, she fled the country and she had no contact with him for almost 3 years. Once Prince Kofi discovers her secret, he wastes no time in coming to America to claim what is his. Prince Kofi is truly an alpha hero who is determined to get his way and does. Dahlia has to find her own way once she is back in his country but she does not let Prince Kofi have free rein. I enjoyed them bumping heads with each other, the passion and the suspense. I can’t wait for the next story in the series.

I really wanted to like it but was let down

The story line seemed interesting. The hidden baby trope is getting old but I liked the African royalty aspect. But then the characters were unlikable. The Heroine was an undeveloped moron and the prince was a controlling boreline abusive jerk. The story was predictable and I guessed everything that was going to happen early on. The love scenes weren't good. This story take place in Africa but there wasn't much of it used to describe the setting. Also, the main character was the worst. She was so annoying. I kept reading in hopes that the story would improve, but it never did.

A Royal Treat

I loved this story that epitomizes a romance reader’s dream complete with a prince, Kofu and a princess, Dahlia. What makes this story so very special is that the Prince is the ruler of an African country, Zamibia. Delaney Diamond is a masterful storyteller, and her skills are on point in this story as we travel to Zamibia and vicariously become a part of the royal household, and the intrigue that the royal family faces. From the well-developed characters, the romantic and suspenseful storyline, to the wonderful Epilogue, this story is a page-turner, and I recommend it.

More Please...

Princess of Zamibia is the perfect read for those who love royal romance, second chance love, and secret babies. D. Diamond has an incredibly sweet tale of forgiveness, love, and family. The characters are relatable, the banter and interactions are realistic and entertaining, and the world building... Diamond created an incredibly beautiful country with Zamibia. The way she describes the land and people makes you wish it truly existed.
I'm looking forward to see where the rest of the series takes me. Definitely worth the read.

the idea was good, but the execution was lacking. this book really needed another 75-100 pages to really flesh things out and add some substance to the overall plot and characters/relationships. i liked dahlia and kofi as a couple, and i enjoyed the moments of dahlia adapting to her new life and finding ways to feel more at home with noel. the plot twist was pretty good, again, somewhat rushed and not fleshed out enough. which goes to the fact that the pacing was off at quite a few points, but overall it was an easy and fun read.

This is a secret baby second chance romance.

Dahlia and Kofi split up when he thought she helped her business partner steal money from his country. She found out she was pregnant and when she went to tell him she found out he was married to someone else.
Three years later he finds out he has a son and comes for the heir to the throne. Then Kofi concocts a plan where Dahlia will come home with him and marry him when she fights back against him taking their child.
I enjoyed what these two realize that they never stopped living each other. This was a very good book.

Although this a romance novel, this book was pretty educational. The author has a way of putting detailed information about royalty and the rules and laws that one must follow. Information about the culture, the country and the desire to go green was very interesting. I love reading a romance novel that has substance to it as well. Oh, but just know that Prince Kofi is an Alpha male, but Dahlia set I'm straight! 3.75

Don't waste your money!!!

This books seemed rushed!!! No depth of emotions!! I could not even finish this book. It has solo much potential!!! The first argument should have been the truth. She tried to reach him, she was worried that he would think that she was a good digger, she wanted him for himself not what he had to offer? Non of that was mentioned!!! It just went to deep detail of How attracted and turned on by him!!! This book sucked. No emotion

Loyalty Reigns

Princess Dahlia was everything!! I love how fiercely loyal she was to her son, eventually to her Prince, and finally her Kingdom. She did her best to protect her family. The royal dynamics were incredibly stifling and there was a lot of pain inflicted trying to honor tradition. The love that Dahlia and Kofi shared was explosive and was tumultuous at times. Once things came together they became a force. Really enjoyed this book.
