Wellington Estates #3

The Trouble with Love

Rate this book

“You float through life like a piece of driftwood. Aimless. You have nothing to strive for.”

Wellington Estates heiress Danielle Riley has everything her heart desires. But for the first time, she wants something she cannot have: Mike, the poor, proud, talented athlete, whose mother is working class, whose family is beneath hers.

Mike Melgoza works hard for a living and bears a terrible secret, a secret that clouds his decisions, that pollutes his relationships. He mistakes Danielle’s generosity for pity, spurning her love and everything she represents.

Brokenhearted, Danielle embarks on a journey to rural India to find purpose, and her life transforms in ways she hadn’t imagined possible. But neither distance nor time can make her forget Mike.

When fate throws them together again, can they resist their mutual attraction?

Book 3 of the Wellington Estates, “The Trouble with Love” is a stand-alone romantic saga about privilege, prejudice, and defying social norms.

I LOVE this author's books and have read the previous two books in the Wellington Estates series, so was eagerly awaiting this one. And what a book! Sublime! It exceeded all my (extremely) high expectations and some! The author gets better with every book she writes and this one is sheer perfection from the first page to the last. The characters burrowed under my skin and stayed there, becoming so very real. They are still in my head, loath to let go - the hallmark of a brilliant book. An assured, sublime read from an incredibly talented author. Very highly recommended.

Sunanda writes a nice and convoluted plot - enjoyed the skirmishes between the lead pair, Dani and Mike. Lots of threads woven into the story so it is not just about the two of them - makes it easier to understand the motivations of some of the other characters. It could have been shorter, though.

Superb!!!

Whilst, at first, Danielle annoyed me, she gained my admiration when she matured. Another beautiful romance that also deals with some serious issues. Sunanda's brilliant knack for story telling, makes you fall in love with her characters.

This book made me cry tears of anguish and joy, and confirmed what I believe: Each of us has a purpose in life that we need to find in order to be truly happy.

We see a lot of books where the hero is filthy rich and the (often) plain Jane heroine becomes attractive and interesting to him for some reason or other. This is a ‘billionaire’ romance of a totally different kinds, though it’s also sort of a tale about ‘from rags to riches’: Danielle, the heroine, is the wealthy one with all the privileges, and the hero Mike is the poorer protagonists with struggles and a dark past. Interestingly, it isn’t their financial or social status that is the biggest conflict between them, at least not upon second glance. It’s the way they treat said status and the way others use it against them. Again and again, Danielle seeks to escape from her gilded cage, and again and again reality puts her in her place. I rooted for her from the beginning, and I’m glad she got her chance to come into her own. Even if that meant harrowing experiences in India that leave scars not just in her but also in my soft reader’s heart. I shed tears alongside her and for her, and then I cheered loudly for the happy ending she gets with Mike.

As usual, the author delivers a fast-paced story filled with palpable emotions, intriguing details and clever connections only revealed at the end.

This is the third and last book in the Wellington Estates Series. This book is a standalone just like the first two books in the series. This book features Danielle Riley who is the heiress of Wellington Estates. Born with a silver spoon, she has everything she wants, except for one thing. She found herself attracted to a Mike, a working class commoner. He's a great athlete, a hunk, but very proud. He rejects her advances, thinking she feels sorry for him. He is also facing demons of his own. Rejected, she takes a different turn and travels to India and her life takes on a whole new meaning. Her path crosses once again with Mike and she's never been able to forget him. No spoiler here, but are they able to get over hidden secrets, cultural and class differences and build a life together? Lots of drama and angst. An emotional roller coaster, so grab your hanky. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review. Well written with developed, complex characters and an engaging story line.

The trouble with love is the third book in the Wellington Estate series and like the previous two books the story has retained to maintain its intricate & complex storyline which keeps the readers attention from the beginning of the story until the very end. This is the story of Danielle and Mike. Danielle is Conor’s sister who was the main protagonists of the second book in the series. As always Sunanda has effortlessly weaved exceptionally beautiful and realistic characters with sheer perfection. There are elements of mystery, suspense, lies , betrayal , angst , drama and romance.

Sunanda has astounded and delighted me again with this newest book, and as usual I am blown away by her unparalleled attention to detail. She definitely proves her versatility and flexibility as an author with this multi-layered story in which she masterfully weaves drama, mystery, suspense, powerful emotions and the sweetest romance together seamlessly. Without giving any spoilers this story is definitely a must read. Looking forward to reading the next book in this fabulous series

This is another great story in this series of standalone books.
It's about Danielle and Mike and their lives, their passion, and about finding their place.
The book has it all - romance, drama, and suspense.
The combination of American and Indian culture is great and works well.
I love this descriptive book and the attention to details. The author has a wonderful writing style. Just look at how beautifully it flows:
"Hurting her was like breaking the angel that sat atop the Christmas tree they put up every year. Made of crystal, it adorned their home, spreading peace and happiness in the world, asking nothing in return except a spot in their heart."
The book is very well written and I can't wait for the next one!

Danielle Riley lives a life of privilege. The love, coddling and disdain by various members of her family, is beginning to chafe more and more. The reader is introduced to Danielle in the midst of apparent heartbreak. The man she believes could be her one has ended their relationship. Mike can't reconcile his feelings for Danielle, with the disparity in their financial, and social positions. The author weaves together elements of angst, love, and personal development into a romance to root for.

Another great book in this series. Romance, drama and suspense, this story is a wonderful example of the struggles between Indian and American ideals and culture. A very emotional book that I have enjoyed as much as the first two. Well done Sunanda.
