Riverrun Alphas #2

Heat of an Omega

Rate this book
Liam Davis has a secret. He’s been hooking up with his pack alpha’s sexy, evil twin, and he’s been doing it for months—without the pack’s knowledge. Caleb is the twin brother and sworn enemy of his alpha, Kaden, but Liam doesn’t care. Liam is addicted, and all he wants is for Caleb to keep visiting him, to keep dominating him. He craves Caleb, even though his entire pack would shun him if they found out, and even though he knows that ultimately, Caleb plans to kill Kaden…

Caleb McArthur’s only goal in life is to exact his revenge on Kaden, the long-lost twin who stole everything from him. Now, he’s finally close. If only he could get Liam out of his mind. There’s just something about the omega that calls to the alpha wolf inside of him. He can’t afford to lose focus, but he also can’t seem to stay away from the young omega with a tasty body…

Both Liam and Caleb shouldn’t want each other, yet neither of them can resist. Little do they know, the universe has its ways, and things will work out the way they should, as they always do in the strange, little town of Riverrun, WA.

This 50,000 word novel is a steamy, alpha/omega shifter story and part 2 of the Riverrun Alpha series. HEA guaranteed, can be read as a standalone.

I found this book somewhat hard to get through, mostly because of Caleb, whom I found to be fairly unlikable, unbelievable and to be honest childish. It has one of the tropes that I dislike the most where it is the job of one of the people in a relationship to teach the other how to be a responsible mature adult.

I currently DNF'd this book. Frankly, I was horrified by the amount of non-consensual consensual sex. The writing is eh... and I only started it because the first book was decent (not a recommendation, just a fact.) I'll probably finish it with skimming and the hope that book 3 is better.

DNF, sadly. I’m on a shifter Mpreg kick, and was happy to find this series. Book 1 was fine enough for me to move right into this book, book 2. I was looking forward to it, as redemption stories are a fave. However, early on, I was disturbed enough to pause & check reviews here. I’m ever so glad I did. Other reviewer mentioned what was bothering me (a non-con vibe) and then mentioned the ending. Just nope. Glad I saw that, I’m done. This might just be a me-thing but if you, too, hate cliffhangers, tread carefully.

I don’t mind an overarching background conflict that takes a series to resolve, but I need each book to end happy.
I was willing to overlook the grammatical errors and even wrong name error, but not for a story that won’t satisfy. Heck, I was already struggling with the one MC being too unlikeable, evil and honestly unredeemable. Back to Amazon to find a more satisfying read.

This is not HEA. Not HEA. Not even close to HEA. The blurb is a dead lie.

When I finished reading this I was so angry that I could hardly see straight.

How is it a "Happily Ever After" when the book ends with Josh and Kaden's precious baby from Book 1--Belle--being kidnapped by evil witches? For a series that seems to love mpreg and babies and all the sweet tropes, why would you have a storyline where an innocent baby of the MCs is kidnapped and physically hurt for nearly a year, while her parents are powerless to do anything and descend into a deep depression?

It is 100% unnecessary, doesn't fit the genre, and certainly not the promise in the blurb. I hated this book.

Book two of the riverrun series, and it only gets better. This time, it's omega liam who is keeping a secret from his alpha Kegan and pack. He is hooking up with the rogue alpha, who is keadan's estranged twin Caleb, who is determined to seek his revenge on his twin, kill him, and claim the pack as his own. But fate has its own plan and slowly liam thaws caleb. Fated mates. This book is full of danger, evil witches, twists and turns, and, of course, hot mm sex. Read it and enjoy.

Highly recommended!!!

I loved it. I loved the evilness of the alpha that turned on so good. I loved the feisty yet totally lovable omega . I even had the ending so much that I actually love it. I hate cliff hangers but this is well worth it. From the first to the last page page you are held in the grasp of Riverrun.

Caleb & Liam

Well this is unexpected!! I did not expect another omega to emerge. Or for Caleb to be the male lead in this one. Also didn’t expect the ending which broke my heart at the same time as made me happy. So I’m not sure what to feel lol. I do hope eventually we get a good ending for little Monica in future books.

5/5 for the unexpected events.

I wasn't a big fan of this couple, but I still found this book super interesting. I just wished that Caleb wasn't such a jerk about...about like everything. The ending was heartbreaking and I can't wait for little belle to come home. I'm so happy that Liam got reunited with his mother.

Nothing goes as planned

Caleb has all these plans for revenge. He has a twin he didn't know about and blames him for how bad his life had been. Only he hadn't planned on Liam. Or how determined his twin was to be a brother. Definitely recommend!

MPREG shifter romance. Second book in series. Caleb, the identical twin to pack Alpha Kaden, is plotting to take over the pack. Liam is an omega that Caleb has sex with. Will Liam be able to choose between his alpha and his lover, or will he run away?
