Review of The Pastor’s Admin

After reading this book, I don’t think the word pastor should be associated with Joe. He let the power he held go to his head literally. He also messed up a lot of lives along the way. As the saying goes you reap what you sow.

The Pastor’s Admin is an incredibly well-written novel that dives deep into the complexities of church life and the hidden struggles of its characters. Johnson and Rucker take us behind the scenes, revealing issues like adultery, abuse, and the journey to forgiveness in ways that feel raw and relatable. The characters are developed so vividly that you can feel their emotions, dilemmas, and hopes with every page.

Each character’s perspective adds a unique layer to the story, especially with the way they confront their individual struggles. The passionate and intimate scenes add to the realism and depth, although readers should note that this Christian fiction includes some explicit content and language.

Joseph’s selfishness had me fuming; it’s hard to understand how someone could act so recklessly, especially in his position. And Daphne—her sense of duty and self-sacrifice to protect Joseph felt both admirable and heartbreaking. At times, it seemed like she carried the world on her shoulders, to the point of losing her own way. I was completely shocked by the twist with the baby, and I’m not sure I could have shown the maturity Daphne did, standing by her husband despite his wrongdoings.

This book is a rollercoaster of drama, sadness, anger, and resilience all rolled into one. It’s both realistic and intense, and it had me gripped until the very last page. If you’re ready for a journey into the real-life issues that can lie beneath the surface of church life, The Pastor’s Admin is one you won’t want to miss.

Hmmmm....

First just because a story is written about characters in a church don't mean it's a Christian novel. Now I'm not talking about the sex scenes I'm talking about what type of Christian insight did the reader get and with this book that would be none. The story basically is about a whoremonger preacher and a lesbian subordinate who judged him but never seemed to look at her own sins. It also tells a story of the whoremongers preacher wife who is the first lady who endures domestic violence at the hands of her husband who again she judged but not once speaking about the immoral behavior of his assistant. I wanted to give this book a 5 because the writer could have really taught some Christian truth but instead it read like judgemental devils occupying a church.

"The Pastor's Admin" by Lakisha Johnson

My Sentiments:

'The Pastor's Admin' was quite some read where this Pastor had severe problems, a loving wife, and one heck of a good administrator that helped things go as smoothly as she could. But with all of that... things got out of hand, and all that is left to say... this is one read you will have to pick up and see how well this author brings it all out by the end. The ending was quite a shocker because I didn't see that one coming; however, with the way, things were going for this Pastor... I wasn't surprised because what is hidden in the dark will come to light.

Good read

This book was truly engaging. It didn't read like a Christin book, though. I guess the main concept is that anyone in a position of power or authority can abuse it. Pastor definitely had demons and I don't know how any pastor can do so much dirt and still hold the position. This pastor's admin was an accessory to his dirty dealings through her aiding and abetting. What a twisted mess. Pastor reaped what he showed _ you just can't live life endlessly using others for your own satisfaction. I had to skip the graphic sex scenes, but there was a disclaimer, so it wasn't a surprise. I would still recommend this book.

What a JOB!

Daphne was in way over her head with Pastor Joe. He was doing wayyyyyy too much and acted as if there were no consequences to pay. He of ALL people should have known you reap what you sow. I felt bad for Torre. Instead of standing up for herself & in God she became a shell of who she should have been. Carmen, Carmen, Carmen ohhhhhh Carmen. As twisted as she was all Joe could see was the sex. Torre came into her Godly self at the end of the book. Taking care of 3 kids, cause that's exactly what Anastasia was, to make sure they were covered for Joe. Great read that definitely kept me turning the pages.

Spiritual Leaders Battles Demons Too

The Bible says that a cord of three strands is not easily broken when it comes to marriage. But in the case of the Pastor’s Admin the three cord entails Pastor Joseph Thornton, his submissive wife Torre Thornton, and his trusted administrative assistant Daphne Gary. This 3 strand cord is linked tight with deception, demons, abuse and dysfunction. Before you get the wrong idea. The pastor and his assistant are like brother and sister, so nothing funny is going on with them, but they are linked by one particular female that will ultimately decide the eternal fate of either the pastor, his admin, or his wife.

My Goodness

Daphne "Olivia Pope" Gray is the real MVP because she cleaned up messes and put out fires like it was nobody's business. I won't even stoop so low as to call Joseph a "pastor" because his actions were anything but spiritual or divine. I almost cheered aloud when Torre found her strength but hated how much pain - physical and emotional she endured first. I applaud Torre for being in Anastasia's life and raising her daughter with his brother. Carmen! I need all the tea on her back story like yesterday!!!!! Please write a stand alone all about her and "Daddy Bear" because she was really cray cray! Great read!

The secrets we keep

Lakisha Johnson has done it again. She always weaves an unbelievable story into something believable. Her way with words shout at you from the page and draw you in. This storyline kept your attention and made you wonder just how the story was going to turn out. The characters kept you engaged and sometimes made you want you want to strangle them. I really enjoy her writing.

Happy Reading,

Done in the Dark Will Come to Light

There are no words for abuse. The idea that someone who says they love you and the hurts you in any way is mind boggling. The story of Torre and Joseph Thornton was just that. A person has to decide just how much they’re going to do “in the name of love”. As far as, Daphne, she was the quasi enabler. They were all lost souls but consequences were eventually felt. The story has serious twists and turns and was page turning.

Church Folk Drama

Pastor Joe was so consumed with power and women that he forgot about doing the right thing. He caused scandal for his church and lots of pain for his devoted and his trust worthy Admin. The readers quickly see signs of something bad headed his way. First read by these authors and it kept my attention from beginning to end. Good read!

Awesome!!!!!

Awesome book!! As always, you will never disappointed when reading one of her books. With this book, I found the main character was making some major mistakes in his life, but just when he was trying to get his life in track it was too late. A must read!! I highly recommend this book and any other book she has written. You will not be disappointed.

Sad but true

There are Pastors and leaders who lose their way to worldly pleasures and temptations. This book is a shaking detail of just how much so. Let us pray for our Pastors & Leaders as the devil is hot on their track and don't want to see their success at advancing the kingdom of God.

Upstanding!

This book is among one of LaKisha Johnson’s best work. I loved it from beginning to the end. The words on each and every opalescent were given life and made me feel as if I was experiencing a real life situation. This could actually be a person’s real life. Job well done!!

Congratulations

This really showed how some people has a war inside of them. And if given an type of power they can use it in such a negative way. No matter if it hurts people that care for them. Unfortunately, karma will usually get the person that has creates so much hell in others lives.

A very good read

This book was a very good book to read. Pastor Thornton's sexcapades was his downfall. You can do wrong and think you will be blessed. You reap what you sow. This book had me at the first sentence. I look forward to reading more books by Lakisha Johnson. She is a great author.

Wow!

So many themes and so many endings. Very well written authors. I like when u both write, the addition is phenomenal. Please continue to write together or should I say minister. My favorite character is Torre. She was not bitter from abuse but, became better once she allowed God's light. My take is God loves and uses everyone. Matthew 5:45. Tells me grace and mercy!

This book was really good. It touches on real life ritual and make you think. I got a reality check and realize nothing or no one is worth my peace or sanity. I will take care of me first.
