As women, we struggle to feel like we’re good enough because we are bombarded daily with messages that whisper, “Who you are is not okay.” We live in a world that tells us we have to look a certain way, live a certain lifestyle, have husbands who fit a certain mold, and have children that excel in every area of their lives. And rather than thrive in the life we have, we strive to create an existence that impresses others. This impossible treadmill leaves us with deep discontentment and a joyless existence. God doesn’t apologize for how He created us. And while we’re always being molded by our Creator, it’s only to shape us for the calling on our life—not so we can fit into a world we were never meant  “Do not allow this world to mold you in its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing, and complete. Love others well, and don’t hide behind a mask; love authentically” (Romans 12:2, 9). What if we had the confidence to shed our fears and be who God created us to be—stumbles, fumbles, and all—relishing who we are rather than conforming to the world? Using an acrostic for the word AUTHENTIC, author Carey Scott unpacks 9 ways we can find the confidence we need to shine with fearless 1. Accept Your Awesomeness 2. Unearth the Untruths 3. Try Loving Everyone 4. Hold on to Hope 5. Extend Forgiveness 6. Never Shrink Back 7. Trample the Negatives 8. Invest in Community 9. Each book I read by Carey Scott is filled with insight, wisdom and promise for the future. In Unafraid, we are encouraged to think how our lives would be different if we stopped hiding behind excuses or the fears of the unknown. What if we shared our life with close friends and family? Instead of putting on a "happy" face and saying "everything is good with me", what if we choose to trust and share? We can help others by sharing our concerns and our joys. This is a book I will read over and over. I will definitely be sharing with everyone. I received an ARC of the book and this is my honest, personal opinion. No review was required.

In a world that entices us to be anything but our authentic selves, Carey Scott's newest book is refreshing and chock full of applicable insight. I love her wit and wisdom as she encourages women to be real not only with one another but more importantly ourselves. Carey never disappoints, and her latest book is another must-have for your summer book list.

Somewhere along the way, we've decided that we should hide our messes and make it look like we have it all together because it’s hard to be real in a world that promotes fake. But Carey shows us that people with grit allow failure to ignite them to grow and learn for the next time around. Isn’t this a beautiful challenge to live every part of our life in authentic ways. We are to be real with others, real with ourselves and real with God. And when you’re a Jesus-girl, the under-current of your authenticity is always anchored in the hope of Jesus. This book is written in an easy to read manner with practical tips to help you live an authentic life and confide in your "Timothy" to share your struggles with and your victories.

I was provided with an advanced copy of this book. The review is my own personal opinion and I was not required to give a review.

Unafraid is a call-to-action for women in the trenches to be who they were created to be: Jesus-girls with the grit and grace to shine. Carey Scott builds a case for how we are already equipped to live unafraid by allowing the light in us to escape the walls around our hearts.

Wow! The words in this book have landed square on top of and in the middle of some hurting places in my heart. Carey Scott has once again blown me away with her vulnerable leap into the very heart of what us fellow sisters in Christ deal with on a moment by moment basis. Carey brings the heart of Jesus up front and personal, presenting Biblical truth that is refreshing and encouraging in our current modern day lives. A must read book for everyone no matter where you are at in life or better yet, where ever life may have you. Buy 2 or more for gift giving, start a book club or a study group.

Thank you Carey Scott for proving yet again what an amazing heart you have for Jesus and for sharing that beautiful heart with women. You make us all stronger, healthier and hopeful with your words.

I love that Carey's books are so relevant to many of us who are insecure as a result of the cookie cutter mold the world throws at us. It's like having her in my living room, laying back in our recliners, sipping our favorite beverage (diet coke for me), discussing face to face vulnerabilities as we walk out our faith. I’m telling you it’s like she's reading my mind and seeing my heart! Unafraid is a book every woman should read. Let's all come out of hiding and be the gal God created us to be!!

What an amazing book! As I read this I found myself feeling more and more confident in my authentic self. Carey was able to articulate so many things I’ve felt and thought recently. I had my Bible and a journal close by as I read and they both are now full of notes and thoughts!!! I definitely recommend this book to anyone who isn’t quite sure who they are anymore or how to let their true self shine. This book most definitely has the power to change lives...I know it did for me!!

"I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book from the publisher." In Carey Scotts newest book which is coming out in July she tackles the hard subject of fear. I am going through a painful moment in my life that centers around my health condition and a lot of the things Scott shared with me is helping me through it. I appreciate her in depth study on fear and not being being afraid and what God has said about it in the Bible. This is a great book to dive into.

Any time an author uses their pages to encourage women to share their authentic, unfiltered self to the world, I am going to be on board. Carey Scott's refreshing and practical words offer both hope and challenge as Christians navigating the often perilous terrain of our current climate - we don't have to be any more - or any less - than the way God made us. The world deserves our authentic selves. This is my first book by this author, and I'll definitely look forward to her future work.

From the moment I read the first page, I thought Carey had sneaked into my mind and somehow found out what I was secretly thinking of myself. The world we live in tells us so many lies about ourselves that we shouldn’t believe, and Carey helps to dispel those untruths in the honest and candid way she writes.

To see someone reach a place where they feel valued and of worth after experiencing some pretty horrible stuff that life can throw is really encouraging. To then see the same person use what they have been through to move the Kingdom of God forward gives me an immeasurable amount of hope that one day I will get there too. Carey has got there with bags of determination, grit and grace and she shares her experiences so well in her new book “Unafraid”.

Not only does Carey guide us in how we need to be authentic, but she also provides us with practical responses to work through. This is a must read for anyone who wants to live an authentic life for God, despite what they have been through in the past. This book was definitely for me, and it’s for you too!

I’ve never read a book by Carey Scott before, but the topic of this one seemed like something I’d enjoy. I found it very relatable, with lots of points for practical application. Relevant Bible verses, as well as personal stories, are used to highlight the points.

The author encourages the reader to stop hiding due to fears. It’s okay to be authentic, particularly with family and friends. God did not create us to go through this life alone. The author points out three areas to focus on when living an authentic life:

• This is how we are to be with others. Real and genuine.
• This is how we are to be with ourselves. True and honest.
• This is how we are to be with God. Believing we are who He says we are.

Scott includes a lot of things for the reader to consider, as well as a number of good reminders. For instance: “God doesn’t call the equipped; he equips the called.” She lets the reader know that they’re not the only one struggling and that life circumstances aren’t static. Life seasons can and will change, but God doesn’t.

This book was so good that I didn't want it to end, and that's the truth! Reading through this book was like I was just sitting with the author sharing our intermost thoughts. This book is all about being unafraid to be the real you. I could relate to so many things Carey shared in this book. The way she writes is outstanding, like she wrote the book just for me, and in the way I could understand it. Carey is fuuny, serious and most of all REAL! One of the most real authors that I have ever read. Her message is beautiful, be who God made you. Be authentic, be real and be you! I have her other 2 books on my kindle but haven't read them yet. I will be reading them asap. I highly recommend this author and this book. 5***** all the way.

Do you feel good enough? Do you hear messages every day that tell you that who you are is not okay?  Social media tells us that the world expects perfection--perfect husbands, perfect children, perfect jobs, perfect hair--and if our lives aren't perfect, then something is wrong with us.  It doesn't help that people on social media post statuses that imply their lives are flawless, and we fall into the comparison trap.

Carey Scott's "Unafraid" encourages us to revel in our own awesomeness and not look to others for affirmation and acceptance.  She walks us through how to stay true to ourselves and challenges us to be real--not perfect.

If you are trying to live up to an impossible standard, grab a copy of "Unafraid"  and learn how to overcome your fear of not being good enough.  Don't live out a life of discontentment--rediscover your joy by renewing your mind.

This book is such a gift to those of us that have felt the need to be anything but our authentic self in order to be accepted!! Carey Scott is the most authentic author I’ve read in a long time. She’s given me (us) the ability to truly be ourselves and be authentic FINALLY. Not only will it help us but it will also help the future generations of girls in our individual circles to realize the value God sees in each of us and the special gifts he’s given us and to simply live this beautiful life as authentic daughters of the King!! I’m forever changed by this book and look forward to years of authentic living and enjoying the person God created me to be and fulfilling the purpose He’s placed inside me!! Get this book for yourself and a few as gifts...you will NOT regret I!!! ❤️

I am reviewing a copy of Unafraid through Shiloh Run Press and Netgalley:

In Unafraid we are reminded that shame is both real and powerful and it can tangle us. We are encouraged to live authentically as well.

This book goes on to remind us that grace is a beautiful mixture of kindness, compassion, favor and love, it's not something you earn or you deserve.

The author goes on to remind us it all starts with identity. We are reminded too that you are cared for, you are forgiven, you are blameless, and free that we are a citizen of Heaven that we are bold that we are an overcomer, that we are justified that we are a Child of God, You are the Light of the World.

The author goes on to point out Hope helps you see the good, that despite the negative we can see the good too! This book goes on to tell us that Hope reminds us that things will get better. We are reminded too that Hope creates peace in our heart.

I give Unafraid five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

A Truth-Packed Volume for Living Boldly and Fearlessly

I highly recommend Un-Afraid: Be You, Be Authentic, Find the Grit and Grace to Shine. , by author Carey Scott. She has written a truth-packed volume women must read. She challenges us to live boldly, fearlessly, and confidently by guiding readers to embrace their true identity in Christ and to take hold of the truth found in God's Word. Un-Afraid is filled with practical applications and exercises to start living without fear and authenticity.
I found Un-Afraid to be a book that I will study over and over again. It's time to stop believing lies that keep me from God's best, and embrace the truth to live real, to be authentic, and be myself, for the glory of God. It's time for women to live Un-Afraid, and this well-written book can make that happen.

I am still processing this amazing book. As someone who can be seen as "too much" or "over the top" I have spent my whole life fighting my natural vibrancy because it was completely different than the other women in my life. Where was this book when I was in my 20s struggling with overcoming my fear of being me?!!!?? This book really gets you thinking. I am who God made me to be, and since He is NEVER wrong, then I can't be wrong. I fit the mold He made for me, No one elses. And this book has some really great insight into how you can live into your best self, unashamed and authentically, because then it frees you to be the most amazing you!

There are bible verses, stories from the bible, and worksheets to fill in to really help you see where your true self can come through, and to combat the lies you tell yourself about who you think you "should be".

I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is having a little bit of an identity crisis or struggling to fit into the mold they think they were made in.

I loved Carrie’s book, Uncommon, and now she’s done it again with, Unafriad. As a fellow introvert, she really spoke to my heart. She encouraged me to stop putting up a front and to be my true, God created, authentic self and to shine. I loved how she taught lessons using both Biblical characters and current cultural issues. I loved the whole book but particularly chapters ten and eleven, Trample the Negatives and Invest in Community. These truths are as valuable now as they were during Biblical times. This book fell into my hands at just the right time! I am on chapter 3 and cannot put it down and I am highlighting something in every paragraph. Unafraid speaks to my heart; it is hard to live a truly authentic life in our social media manufactured world, y'all. I'm not fine every time I tell you I am and I bet you aren't either. Unafraid calls us to step out in our God-given identity boldly. I cannot say enough praise about this work. I will update my review when I finish reading, if needed.

The light bulb had me at hello! It's shines so bright on the cover and reminds me of my own life giving message of "you were made to shine". A message near to my heart as a Christian leader. Carey's book came at the perfect time as a ministering tool to my soul for my current season of life. As I help encourage other woman to seek what the Lords instill them to do for a Kingdom impact. Now I can not only share with them nuggets of truth Carey laid out so well in Unafraid but I can encourage them to read the book as well. Carey is a gifted writer ordained by God. I am thankful for her obedient heart sharing this message I know so many will be able to relate to and apply it to their on life. They will be inspired to let their light shine bright. I am most excited knowing the audio of this book will be Carey's voice herself.

It is such a pleasure to have received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. Carey Scott shares great insight into living authentic lives by sharing life experiences and sharing some great stories and people in the Bible. She reminded me that God loves me and in order to live authentically and bold I must remember who God has created me to be and who God says I am and not what this ever changing society says. Among the many ways we can live authentically that Carey Scott shares, my favorites are holding on to hope and extending and embracing forgiveness. Be bold! This book is a delightful read.

“To the woman too afraid to be herself…to the woman worried that who she truly is isn’t good enough”….this is the beginning of the dedication in Carey Scott's new book, “Unafraid: Be You. Be Authentic. Find the Grit and Grace To Shine.” We as women do not lead authentic lives for the most part. We hide who we truly are because we have been conditioned whether by traumatic events, or society to believe we just aren’t good enough. We aren’t pretty enough. We aren’t skinny enough or smart enough. Jennifer not only shares her own personal stories of not feeling she measured up but she also helps us learn how to rid ourselves of the lies we’ve believed and claim the timeless truths found in having an authentic relationship with God. With accepting the grace that He so generously lavishes on us. To be determined to live in confidence that who we are is more than enough. For any woman who is tired of living a life of mediocrity and want to live an authentic one instead, this message is for you. And Carey’s book also encourages us women to help other women discover their true identity and live the beautiful life God intended for them from the very beginning.
