It was okay, insta-love and all. I didn't understand, though, why he fell for her; there's no explanation at all. Some push and pull also happened because Hadley (28) thinks people will judge her when they find out her parents were junkies and have been arrested so many times. I think she tried to fight her attraction up until the middle of the story. But, of course, she eventually gave in. Nothing much happens in this book, actually. I found myself skimming some parts.
Also, if this isn't fiction, what Cobi (31) did was harassment and trespassing because he wouldn't leave her alone even when she asked him to. I guess I'll just be fine with it because, just from one look at her, he already decided she's his, and he'd do anything to make it happen. I think we have to admire his tenacity in wanting to achieve his goal. 🤷♀️
I did have a bit of fun, but I could do without having to know that they used to go to the same high school, but he didn't know her because he was a senior and she was a freshman at the time.
Also, he had girlfriends but never introduced anyone to his parents because he knew those relationships would never go anywhere. So why did he date those women, if that's the case?
I didn't appreciate him telling her not to go to a strip club when his own cousin was the organizer. Yet when she asked him if he'd been to one, he said not since they got together. 😒 Thank God, Hadley still went to the club and still had her own fun, but I was irked that Cobi and the other half of his cousins were watching them from the shadow. 🥴
Anyway, I'm actually worried about Hadley having to go through two gun-pointing incidents, in the previous book and in her own book. How many face-offs with a criminal does she have to go through? I'm surprised this woman hasn't lost it yet. 🤷♀️ Moreso, I'm amazed she hasn't become dehydrated yet with the number of times she cried here. 🫠 I didn't know that a fictional person could cry so much. 😅
Overall, this was okay, but I wasn't invested in it. I didn't like their romance or how they ended up together. It was too sudden, and I still don't understand how that really happened. While I didn't enjoy this as much as I'd hoped to, I hope other readers might find it more to their liking.
