What if you wanted to adopt a little girl who needed a family, but the only way you could do so was to get married?Holly has been working as a Harvey Girl since she was nineteen. She now works at the El Tovar Hotel near the Grand Canyon and loves her job, while also enjoying the beautiful scenery around her. But she has a hard time getting close and trusting people because of her hard childhood. Then she meets a six-year-old girl, Minnie, who is growing up in the same situation she had as a child. Holly spends quite a bit of time helping Minnie, working closely with Andrew Montgomery who has just moved back to town and is opening an office for his lawyer business. Then Holly has an opportunity to become a mother to Minnie, Andrew Montgomery offers to marry her so Minnie can have a family. Can Holly learn to trust Andrew while showing Minnie that she can trust them as her new parents? And what if love comes into the picture?
I have previously read Book 1 in this series and fell in love with the Montgomery family. A wonderful romance. A story you just want to go on and on. I didn’t want it to end. This series is wonderful and I would highly recommend them. It’s like potato chips. Bet you can’t read just one!
Desert Sky is another great book about the Harvey Girls by Zoe Matthews. I particularly enjoyed Holly's story as she overcame her childhood and growing up years and her determination to better herself by becoming a Harvey Girl. Holly had the desire and determination to help Minnie deal with and overcome many of the same challenges she had growing up and found true love along the way. I particularly liked the timeline of the Fred Harvey Company and the recipe at the end was delightful. Zoe is a fabulous writer and I am looking forward to her next book. I was given an ARC of the book and have voluntarily chosen to write this review.
Desert Sky continues the story of Harvey Girls of El Tovar Hotel and of the Montgomery family. Holly was orphaned at a young age and had a rough childhood. Six year old Minnie is also an orphan. Holly and attorney Andrew Montgomery are both strong leading characters. You will enjoy this story as Holly finds a family. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
What a truly glorious story. From such a hard beginning to such a lovely and satisfying end. Admit to heart palpitations and concerns when the Aunt turns up. Really enjoyed every minute of this story. Was really serendipitous how Holly and Millie connect. A real feel-good story. Recommend it.
These books Are interesting because they have historical value I've always been interested in Harvey house I have visited one in barstow California where there is a museum I recommend these books
They all came from different backgrounds but their desire to work and still be patient and friendly to all they waited on was a special gift and blessing
Another winner from Zoe Matthews and Adelia Burke. Well paced, interesting plot, captivating characters, happy ending. Everything this reader can ask for.
Read the whole series, Can’t put each book down once I start. Really heartwarming stories with enough drama & romance to keep you coming back for more.
This is the fourth story of the series Each one has excellent character development and holds your interest I would have to say that I would recommend it
