All the magic and adventure in the book world could not have prepared me for Alex's brand of magic and adventure! This kick-butt heroine will definitely give you all the girl-power you'll ever need! ~ Reviewer

Ms. Sinclair is a local writer and Amazon best-selling fantasy author with books crossing into YA epic fantasy, NA Urban fantasy, paranormal romance, mystery, suspense, and Sci-fi genres.
Parker gives credit to the development of her imagination and passion for writing to multiple childhood destinations lacking indoor plumbing. It may sound odd, yet when your journey to adulthood consists of numerous backpacking, camping, and hiking trips to the most out-of-the-way and breathtakingly beautiful places in North America, the creation of games, worlds, and characters are the results. She would never trade the childhood her parents gave her, and she thanks them for raising her to have her own thoughts, dreams, and bountiful imagination. Oh and she wishes to thank them for teaching her that one should never leave their jeans on the floor of an everglades campground shower—lest they do the dance of the scorpions in the pants again!
While attending college, Ms. Sinclair studied biological sciences and psychology, specifically animal behavior, but her love has forever been to write. There are boxes in her house filled with notebooks, journals, and logs with poems, stories, lyrics, and personal rants scratched into them with pencil, marker, pen, whatever she could get her hands on. Words demanded to be thrown out of her mind and onto paper by any means necessary. Ms. Sinclair’s studies have contributed greatly to the worlds, characters, and stories she creates, proving that no matter what path you take, it will all be part of where you end up—sometimes in spectacular ways!
Since 2007, Ms. Sinclair calls Virginia Beach home where she is employed as a full-time writer, is a licensed educational counselor, and finds some of the best times to write late into the night after her kiddos, and in many cases, her husband, are fast asleep.

This book felt like a trip...... Dunno what cookie's the Author had been munching on.... There were talking animals who became humans... or trees im not sure, the flashbacks then dreams within the flashbacks and dreams in the present.... It was another inception moment for me.....
There was no story until the last few pages, up to then it was Alex a extremely powerful earth healer and protector.... Although im still not sure what her actual powers are other than changing her appearance when she wants to go dancing, and thrumming energy...... Alex is having nightmares and pushing everyone away.... (the nightmares are just random things that still make no sense). After keeping her secret for years and being alone alot longer all of a sudden she dream meets Dana, confides in her best friend who happens to be a seer, Meets Ryan and decides to undergo hypnotherapy where she is taken advantage of, all in a matter of a week.
and that's basically the story for 270 pages.... The last few pages deal and snuff out the reason for her nightmares so quickly then pow books over.
I hated the lead Alex i get shes having bad dreams but she goes from dry humping Ryan a security guard to nearly blowing up Justin her boyfriend in a fit of anger...... Because hes sat having coffee with her friend. Not to mention she listens to no one just kind of fumbles her way around, and is so self absorbed, i dont know how anyone can stand being her friend let alone fall in love with her shes awful, the ending was abrupt and meant to be on a cliffhanger..... i think.... But this book 282 pages and took me ages to finish i just couldn't get into it....
The writing itself is beautiful and descriptive but that unfortunately is the only endearing thing to me.
This is a paranormal book but unlike other paranormal stories you aren't going to find vampires or shape shifters instead earthen healers and protectors and talking animals are what makes this book unique. Alex Conner receives her gifts from her grandmother and mother. She is a earthen healer and a rare and powerful one at that. Her life has not been easy and she has a lot of past hurt, abandonment and abuse issues that she has to deal with. She helps run a party business which she loves and is successful and busy. Lots of dancing and partying etc. As she tries to heal from the past abuse the big bad is trying to break free from his banishment and is after her again. Invading her dreams and feeding her fear. Will she be able to defeat him once and for all? And who can she really trust? My thoughts of the book are that the writing is good. But this isn't a book you can read a little here and there and set it down. I found for me that everytime I set the book down I had to reread parts because there was a lot of details in this book and I wanted to make sure I got all the important stuff. There is a cliffhanger ending and it leads me to believe there will be other books in this series. My favorite part was a song the author used in the book “You Are My Sunshine” which has special meaning to me and my family. And it's not one you hear very often. I would say this is a solid effort from the author the plot was interesting and I liked reading the flashbacks.
I really am stunned that this is Parker Sinclair’s debut novel. She is a fantastic writer who pulls you in right from the start. I am usually not a fast reader, but I just couldn't put this book down. I started one afternoon and was finished by the next.
Alex Connor is an event planner who likes the night life and has a great group of coworkers/friends that she spends most of her time with. Besides being tall and beautiful, she's educated, successful, and quick witted with an overactive imagination who tends to ramble when she gets nervous.( I think we’d be friends). She also has a secret.
The novel opens with a journal entry and they continue throughout the book letting the reader delve into Alex's unspoken thoughts about her inherited powers and her relationship with her mother and grandmother. I love books with journal entries because they allow the reader to learn so much about the character's past and inner thoughts.
Alex has two love interests throughout the book. This part is the icing on the cake of paranormal excitement in the book. Justin is the safe one and absolutely beautiful. He loves nature and animals as much as Alex and makes her feel connected to her old life and the cherished times of her childhood. He is dependable and doesn’t mind that she needs her space but there is something missing in the relationship. Then there's Ryan. His enigmatic smile is enough to make you melt. He’s powerful, mysterious, and incredibly hot! Alex feels instantly connected to him and knows there's more to him than that super hot body.
This is a very well-crafted urban fantasy/paranormal romance novel that’s a great start to a new series and I personally can’t wait for the next book!
Trust is the first book in the Alex Conner Chronicles. It is an Urban Fantasy based on a girl, Alex Conner. She is an Earthen Protector/Healer. She is the strongest of her people in many generations. With such strong power also comes people on the evil side wanting her power. When Alex was a child, she was in foster care and her foster father, Steven, was one of the Evil ones. He abused her and she used her power to deal with him, sending him to an alternate dimension. The problem with that, is that now Steven is trying to claw his way out of the alternate dimension and is using her nightmares to get her to help him out. Because of her nightmares, Alex isn’t sure who she should or shouldn’t trust. She has an event planning business and finds herself second guessing whether she should trust her business partner, staff, and even the sexy new security guy that she finds herself strangely drawn to. A large portion of the book is centered around Alex trying to decide who she can and cannot trust and her trying to navigate her life despite the horrible nightmares that are plaguing her every single time she sleeps, except when Ryan, the security buff is around. Parker Sinclair uses journal entries to tell us the story of Alex’s childhood and her young adulthood. Although these entries are imperative to understanding the stories, the time jumps could be fairly difficult to keep track of as you were not given a time or date of the journal entries, so figuring out when they took place sometimes took a little bit of re-reading. The story that was written in the present, however was very easy to follow and was very intriguing.
I just finished Trust, the first book in the Alex Conner Chronicles by Parker Sinclair. I loved the premise of this story, it is very much a paranormal story that has a unique plot line. There are no shape shifters or a lot of mystical creatures. This is the story of a young girl who has special powers that she tries hard to hide from the people in her life. The story is told with a mix of flashbacks and present time events that all together tell the story of how Alex got to where she is now and discovered what she can do. As she goes along her journey she learns that not everyone is as normal as she originally thought and for some not quite as human as she thought. There is a bit of a romantic undertone to the story but this is not a romance, so don’t go into this expecting any type of love scenes. That make come up a little in some of the future books the author certainly leaves the story line open for that to be a possibility. I absolutely loved this story. I can tell you that this a book that you have to be able to commit to, as the switches between the flashback and present time can be confusing but the author does a good job through formatting and consistency to make it very clear which parts are flashbacks and which are present time. There is no real cliffhanger in this story as the storyline comes to a conclusion in this book but does leave some unanswered questions and make it very clear that there is a new story arc that will continue into the next book.
If you are a fan of paranormal I would absolutely recommend that you pick up this book as soon as you possibly can. You will not be disappointed!
This is a different spin on the paranormal world, instead of vampires and witches, this is about Earth magic. It is a totally different world that is under explored, I hope this changes with the likes of Parker Sinclair writing stories for us. This kind of story leads us to another realm where we get to meet Gaia the Earth Goddess and her loyal disciples. It is also the place where we can delve inside ourselves and find out who really are and what we mean to the world around us. Alexis, Alex for short is a Protector and a Healer, a rare power fighting to help the Earth and its inhabitants. She is being hunted by an evil man she thought she got rid of a long time ago, but he is back and he is pissed. She slowly finds the people that are going to help her fight the evil, and of course she finds the ones that want to stop her. She must learn to trust herself and those around her in order to save the world from chaos. I found this to be a great story, I also found it to be slow paced and sometimes repetitive. That being said, the story gripped me and I really felt the emotionally packed journal entries and “dreams” that she had. I wanted to reach through the pages and hold her through this difficult journey she was on. I will keep my eye out for the next installment of this series just to see what mess Alex gets out of this time.
Being an adult in my late 20's, I enjoy reading teen fiction because of its popularity towards the supernatural and really thought this book was unique because it takes the magical elements that attract youthful imaginations and applies them to the more complicated, yet exciting life of young adulthood. It contains all elements of intrigue for an adventerous 20-something female reader: love, magic, sex, success, two highly attractive men interested in the same highly attractive woman, indecision, decision, and then indecision again, and of course talking animals. The themes of sex and magic, whether they work separately or together, are tasteful and enhance the sophisticated plotline rather than distract it. Also, Parker Sinclair's style of writing can be described as witty and conversational which makes this book a very energetic read. Alex Conner, the main character, lives up to her reputation as a strong, female lead, but also shows an emotional side which she deals with by using playful, sarcastic humor. I look forward to reading the second book in this series as it is right up my alley!
If you like paranormal/urban fantasy books, Trust, written by Parker Sinclair, is a story that pulls you in and doesn't let go until the very last page. Alex Conner, is a strong female lead who you cannot get enough of. She is witty, sexy, strong, and mysterious. I am adding Parker Sinclair to my favorite list of authors, in line with Kellye Armstrong, Jeanine Frost, Karen Chance, Kaylana Price, and Kim Harrison. The only question I have is when will book 2 be released?
Trust: The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One: A Contemporary Fantasy Supernatural Suspense by Parker Sinclair is the first book in her The Alex Conner Chronicles series. This story is a paranormal story that has just a little bit of everything in it including mystery and suspense. I enjoy how this author is able to take me on a journey that leaves me sitting on the edge of my seat one minute and the next minute saying where did that come from. Her attention to details make this story easy flowing and engaging. Her characters are both connectable and lovable. This is the beginning of Alex's story. Alex is a strong, independent woman who has magical powers that her mother has made her keep hidden. This is not the only secret she has. She is starting to have nightmares daily about the evil she exiled. But will that evil come back to haunt her? Will she be the one responsible for bring the evil back? Then she meets Ryan. He has even more secrets but he also confusing for Alex because she doesn't know what he is. He was sent to watch over Alex but it there more to him then what she realizes? This story is told in Alex's view so we don't really get to see what is inside of Ryan's head. So he is kind of a mystery character. One of the things I enjoy about Alex is that we get to see what Alex's story from childhood up to where she is today. She is a strong person and has grown a lot from what happened to her when she was a child. She took me on a journey of twists and turn that I didn't see coming but kept me turning pages until the end. The secondary characters are just as great and really help make the story flow. I highly recommend this book as I know you will want to see what happens to Alex and what she gets herself into.
Trust by Parker Sinclair is the first book in the Alex Conner Chronicles. This book has a really interesting and creative storyline that captured me from the start. It's a unique paranormal read as Alex is an Earthen Protector and Healer unlike the usual vampire, witch, etc. paranormal reads. This book is action-packed, dark, haunting, powerful and completely unexpected. I was kept on my toes from the very beginning until the very end.
It's told in both past and present moments along with some of Alex's journal entries. While sometimes the journal entries were hard to stomach as they touched on sensitive subject matter they gave me so much insight into her life. I was constantly trying to piece it all together only to come to dead ends, while most of my questions were answered others were not as this book has a cliffhanger ending.
This was my first book of Parker's, but it certainly won't be my last. I loved all of the amazing detail, the possible love connections and the truly captivating characters. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!
Trust by Parker Sinclair is the first book in her Alex Conner Chronicles and it was a great run for the opener of a new series. Alex - Alexis to those in her former life - has had her trust broken so many times by those that she love that she feels like she can't trust anyone anymore. The urban fantasy angle of this book gave the dark and dangerous a new feel to it, I really connected with Alex and her attempting to reconnect with those around her. The world that Sinclair created for this series really pulls you in from the beginning. Sinclair is a new to me author, to the point that I can't wait to see where this series goes. If you are looking for a new series that will keep you guessing, intrigued and wanting more than this is the series for you.
The first thing that drew me to this book was definitely the amazing cover. I've read quite a few paranormal books...But this one was a real surprise.... I love how Parker used the magic in Alex, not like any other paranormal book I've seen. The way the magic is connected to the earth was really interesting and something completely new.
I also love the fact that the MC is a bit older and already settled in the normal world. What also really intrigued me about this book was the journal entries that give you a glimpse into her past.
This book is really well written and has a great cast of characters and the setting is well thought out.
If your a fan of paranormal books then this is the book for you
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
OMG!!! This story is awesome. awesome. Alex is such a mess, but yet she's so strong. I laughed, & I cried through this story. So much going on, & I understand the feeling of not being able to trust. Your emotions, your views, love, friendship, all of it. This story will show you how this strong, beautiful woman learns to trust & love. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Interesting new take on the fantasy front. Alex has an interesting life too. Started off a bit rough but shes getting her footing until the dreams/flashbacks start breaking into her everyday life. There's also the situation with Justin and Ryan. Can't wait to learn more about Ryan. I liked the way this author wrote. It wasn't all doom and gloom all the time. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The right blend of 50 Shades meets fantasy...this book is a winner with its strong leading lady in Alex and her adventures in romance, mysticism, and self-discovery. The book reads easy and quickly pulls you into plot and character development. Looking forward to book 2!!
Trust: The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One: A Contemporary Fantasy Supernatural Suspense
By Parker Sinclair
4 Stars
I'm going to start with saying that the cover of this book is absolutely gorgeous and partly the reason I was drawn to this book.
We travel with Alexis through her journal entries starting when she was young. The story goes from present and sometimes flashbacks, then the journal entries. I'm not a big fan of reading a story that takes me back to the main characters childhood quite as much as i went back in this book. I'll admit it worked some of the time because some of the information was important to understanding where Alex was in her present circumstances, but the majority didn't add enough to the story to warrant going back that much in my opinion. I did enjoy the present day part of the book, although a bit wordy in some parts, and and the characters surrounding Alex were great, I loved her best friend Sandra, and also those that she worked with.
The storyline was interesting, Alex is a descendant of a mystical earth protecting goddess and she is realizing her powers and trying to figure out how to control them. She has learned a lot about things that happened when she was young and why they happened. After losing her Mom and her Grandmother who left her way too soon she enters foster care. Feeling happy and at peace in her new foster home proved to her that you can't trust anyone, as her foster father proved that to be true..A string of events occur from that time on and she is only now starting to realize the impact of her actions and her nightmares are so completely disturbing and scary that she barely sleeps.
The many twists and turns in this story did keep me on the edge of my seat and while in the present part of the book the storyflow was very smooth and easy to read. This does end in a cliffhanger and I actually can't wait to dig into the next book to see what happens next. This is my 3rd book by this author and I've loved everything I've read by her, this one just isn't one of my favorites, yet I still enjoyed it enough that I will read the next in this series.
Trust (Alex Conner Chronicles #1) by Parker Sinclair is a unique take on urban fantasy.
I love it when authors step outside of the norm and take a chance. Like most overused genre's , urban fantasy has its own set of tropes and cliché's. This book isn't completely void of that, but it does rework the normal UF world setting and, the supernaturals. Shifter and vampires are not in this world. Instead we have earthen healers, talking animals and protectors. Now the hierarchy matches that or other UF, but there are twists and other original elements that keeps you engaged.
I loved the overall feel and world building. The details are rich, clean and planted vivid images in my head. I did find at times there was some over explaining, and a little too much detail, but it wasn't enough to deter me. I like how the plot was clear, and stayed on point. With so much going on, I did at one point get worried that it would stray, there was room for that, but the author didn't lose focus.
Our MC Alex is a earthen healer. Not a weak one either, in general her character wasn't weak. She has darkness in her past, and trauma. She doesn't let that define her and tries to stay out of the past, even when it starts to creep back in.
There are two love interest, I wasn't a big fan of this "love-triangle". I never have, but this one was just so cliché, that it hurt. This one little bit of UF trope, found its way in. I get where the author was coming from, but for me, I felt like there was no need of it. It was predictable and a little boring. No I'm not saying the characters were, they were the opposite. It was the general overuse love trope that got to me.
Outside of that hiccup. I was transfixed with this story. This is a one sitting read, take my high recommendation that you will get lost in this unique world, that turns what you know about UF on its head.
Trust is the first book in The Alex Conner Chronicles. In this story you get to know Alex, about her past and how that past is affecting her present life. The way this book is written, it feels like you are kind of reading two books in one. The past (both distant and recent) are conveyed through journal entries, these pieces seem like they could have been written as a separate book, but you get the major points of her past that are important to the current story. The main part of the story line wraps up, but it does end in a cliffhanger so you will want to continue the story to find out what happens next.
Alex had a manifestation of her powers at a very young age, but she was forbidden to speak about them or demonstrate them. As a result, she is not prepared for what happens to her when she is put in the foster care system. What she goes through during her childhood causes her to have a serious distrust of people, even people she cares about.
As an adult, Alex thinks she has things somewhat under control. She’s successful in her business, she has her own place, and she has a close group of friends. Out of nowhere, Alex is plagued with nightmares that start bringing up everything that she has worked so hard to keep hidden. To top it off, a mysterious guy has shown up and she has no idea who he is or what he’s about. He feels familiar to her, but she is back to seriously not trusting anyone.
With the nightmares coming more intensely and more frequently, Alex wonders if the past is about to collide with the present. She’s got a bad feeling about the monster she did away with so early in her life. He’s toying with her mind and she’s falling for it. She swore she would never feel helpless again, but she doesn’t know if she’s strong enough to fight the coming darkness.
Trust by Author Parker Sinclair is the first book in the Alex Conner Chronicles. This book leans toward Supernatural/Urban Fantasy and is an interesting story. Alex Conner is a twenty something party planner in San Diego. She has had a tough life to say the least, abandoned by her mother at a young age she goes to live with her grandmother who informs her that she is an “Earth Protector” and begins training Alex in her powers until her death. After all of the losses and hardships in her life Alex finds it hard to trust anyone. For many years Alex hid her powers in an effort to appear normal, unfortunately someone from her past may be trying to harm her. Alex has been suffering from debilitating nightmares and attacks to the point that she needs to start trusting someone to help her before it’s too late. An amazing cast of characters make up Alex’s inner circle from on again off again boyfriend Justin to college bestie Carmen these colorful characters are the backbone of Alex’s life but can they all be trusted? While I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next in the series to see what happens next in Alex’s world I did have a minor issue with the story. I had the hardest time with Alex for a majority of the book, she acted a little juvenile for a 25-26 year old, and I got a little tired of her over describing her nights out. One of my favorite parts were her journal entries. I think, for myself at least, if the whole book would have been written that way it would have moved even more smoothly. My absolute favorite part was the ending! Even with it being a cliff hanger, I so totally didn’t see any of that coming and I can honestly admit that I was thrown for a loop, so you know this reader will be tuning in for the next installment.
Alex Conner is an ordinary woman who has to hide her magical powers from the world around her.. Whilst working one night at her job of running an entertainment provider, she meets a mysterious man named Ryan. he saves her life and they discover a connection both magical and romantic. but when things develop, will she be able to trust Ryan and control her powers? a great read. well developed plot. well developed characters from troubled pasts like Alex and Ryan. Sandra and Nicky were brilliant supportive characters and both were hilarious. I also loved the scenes onstage and backstage of the entertainment centre which was full of life and laughter and colour. the supernatural and its powers were brilliantly written. each scene with Alex using powers was memorising. the setting by the sea was calming and the sense of peace felt by the characters as a result was relatable and emotive.I also liked the contrast of the vibrant colours of the pills and the drug addiction which was beautifully written. The only issue I would raise is that Alexs journal entries were well written but I felt that it didn't fit the tone of the rest of the novel and also distracted you from the narrative. as a creative writer, i felt this novel could have benefited with the phrase "show don't tell" of showing the events through description instead of the narrative of thoughts or indirect speech. if this was done, it would be a great and captivating novel. overall, a good read and I would give it four stars.
Trust: The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One By Parker Sinclair 5 Stars
I’ve been reading a few authors for the first time recently. This has been both beneficial and a P.I.T.A. as I have a VERY long TBR list and now I am finding more authors and books to add to that list. Parker Sinclair is definitely one of those authors. And surprisingly for me so is this book series. I will admit that I am not a huge fan of ‘cliffhanger’ books. I’m a HEA kinda girl and those are the books I gravitate towards. But the buildup, depth and time that is taken to bring you into this story will keep you drowning chapter after chapter and wanting more.
Alex (Alexis) Connor is not your normal heroine. She’s been through stuff and that has shaped her into the woman she is today. We get glimpses into her past and why she is the way she is through her journal snippets detailed in each chapter. She loves the life she is living but it isn’t easy and it isn’t running smoothly. Parker Sinclair not only delivers a complex character, she is someone we can relate to. The secondary characters are just as well written and bring you just as much feelings as you develop for Alex.
If you want something a little off the norm, this is the book for you. It’s superbly written, has a fast pace but not too fast in which you feel like you are missing important details. The journey is real and by then end you will be wanting more just like me. Who’s ready to embark on this wild ride?
Trust By Parker Sinclair is a great read that truly kept me on the edge of my seat. The good versus evil plot line was fascinating. Her take on the ways of Magic are refreshingly new. I love Paranormal everything, and Paranormal Romance tops my Charts. Alex’s future depends on her making the right choices. But, she really has no data to work from. Parker Sinclair has created a wonderful world, populated by wonderful people. She has really delved into the darker psyche that resides in all of us. Unfortunately, some of us give in to that darker side. She has painted her world vividly, in much detail, and with much care. I love the interaction between all of the friends in Trust. Ms. Sinclair has hit all the right notes, mastering the mystery and the romance and blending them into an amazing tale. She has created wonderful characters. Alex is a great, strong heroine. She has her issues and throughout the story, learns to cope with and eventually, overcome them. And, while Justin is a remarkable character, with his gentle, compassion, he seems to be exactly what Alex needs. He seems to be her complement in every way. However, Ryan is the one who makes her heart race and he hands get clammy. He is all warrior. He knows the way his enemies think. More importantly, he knows the way that Alexes enemies think. This is a truly terrific read and I look forward to reading the next in the series. Thank you, Parker Sinclair, for a terrific read.
This was my first Parker Sinclair book to read, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The blurb sounded really interesting, so I figured it was a good bet.
Alex has secrets that she's been hiding. One is that she has power. Another is that she bound her foster father away when he was hurting her.
Ryan has even more secrets. He's there to watch over Alex, but she doesn't know what he is.
It's a really interesting premise. While there are a lot of stories that involve Earth magic, this isn't a version that I've run across too often, so I really liked that. The story is only shown from Alex's point of view, so we don't get to know what's going on in Ryan's head, which doesn't really bother me one way or the other in this story. Sometimes it's necessary, I think, but mostly in one-offs, but this is the first book in the series, so we'll get to learn more about Ryan and how he thinks.
I really, really do like the journaling aspect that shows up at the beginning of each chapter. It lets us get more of Alex's history without having to start back as a child. Each journal gives us another glimpse into Alex and what made her who she is. Very nice way to handle the exposition.
I think that the characters are well-written and that we are in the opening of a really good adventure story.
I got an ARC, you got my honest and voluntary review.
I give Trust: The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One: A Contemporary Fantasy Supernatural Suspense by Parker Sinclair 5 stars.
I have read Parker Sinclair's books before and this is yet another hit promising to be be an outstanding series. Alex is a wonderful main character. She is definitely flawed. Not only that, she knows it. She has had a terrible past and now it has come back to literally haunt her. While she has a few good friends, trust and love are not things she gives easily. She has her secrets just like everyone else. But she cannot let anyone know her biggest secret of all.
When a gorgeous hunk of a man shows up and says he knows her secrets, she is instantly wary. Her gut tells her to trust him, but it has said that before and been wrong. Can she finally learn to let people in? What will he do to her if she does trust him?
Superbly written, I was drawn in to this book immediately. I do have to admit, the way the character's past is told, it took me a while to get used to. I completely understand why it was done that way, but I had a bit of trouble going back and forth between past and reality, especially since I was not able to read the book all at once. But that is a personal opinion and it began to get easier the further along I went. Overall, this is another hit for Ms Sinclair and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the paranormal and/or romance.
Trust : The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One : A Contemporary Fantasy Supernatural Suspense by Parker Sinclair
Trust : The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One : A Contemporary Fantasy Supernatural Suspense by Parker Sinclair is the first book in her The Alex Conner Chronicles series. This story has a bit of everything in it from mystery to suspense I've read other books by Parker Sinclair and I've never been disappointed with any of her books.I was literally on the edge of my seat at times and at other times scratching my head like "what just happened " . I enjoyed this story so much I had hardest time putting it down once I started reading. This is the start of Alex's story Alex has magical powers her mother makes her keep hidden shes also a .independent yet strong woman . Trust is the first book in the Alex Conner Chronicles. Alex is the main character with some supernatural powers. However, as a child, she has been taught only to hide these powers. As a teenager life takes a few twists and Alex ends up honing her powers for good instead of evil.
The main men in Alex’s life are Justin, her faithful friend with benefits and Ryan, a new man bringing out feelings that she didn’t know even existed. Trying to figure out which guy might be the one is a little tough as they are both so right. Since Alex has no living family and being raised mostly in foster homes, she only has a few friends that can be considered close. Which was one of the things I liked about this story, not too many characters to keep track of.
This story kept me turning the pages wondering who was good and who was evil. Every twist was the beginning of another twist! I like the way Sinclair writes. Her style keeps me entertained with vivid descriptions of Alex’s surroundings. The adventure Alex must go on to make her life her own is one that is filled with other supernatural beings, humans and challenges she must overcome.
Looking forward to reading the next book(s) in this series.
Alex is a woman that is strong and determined to succeed. But she also has powers. She has spent her life hiding them because her mother told her to. I like that this is not a hurry up and figure it out right away sort of supernatural book. You know, the instant gratification type. This is a slow build, and that is what makes it special. Kind of like a whodunnit This book has amazing characters. Her friends are funny and caring. Her world is amazingly well crafted. You get to learn about her from the time she was very young and realized she had powers through journal entries made in each chapter. And her current world is extremely well defined. I knew there was a cliffhanger ending coming cause, well, all the signs are there aren't they? Being book one. Luckily number two is out for us and we can carry on...and I will. You can bet on that. I want to see where Alex goes from here. I can't wait after that ending. Wow!! A highly recommended read! Like all of Parker's books. ;-) DawnBee <3
Trust: The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One By Parker Sinclair 4 stars
I loved this story! It was a great introduction to Parker Sinclair as an author. I found that the book was easy to read and my interest was kept throughout. When I first read the blurb I was drawn to the fact the author said it was a twist on paranormal stories, I have recently really gotten into paranormal stories but usually with a romance aspect to them so I was looking forward to reading something a little bit different. This book really did that for me. I liked Alex; I thought she was a really good heroine in the story. I thought that the way in which the author wrote the story meant that I really felt like I understood Alex and the decisions she made. For me Alex was a really strong lead, I liked her approach to using her powers. I found her a relatable character. Along with Alex were some great secondary characters too. Parker Sinclair’s talent for creating and developing characters is excellent. I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from this author and series in the future!
This story was one that kept you reading to find out the answers to several questions. The main character has special powers, but you have no idea what they are because she was told to never tell her secret. Of course, you eventually learn the powers, but it is a buildup in each chapter. I love the theme of the story and the fact that besides the special powers many individuals could relate to the child. There are many instances where the grandparents step in to help out or take care of their grandkids because of many reasons, making this story that much more believable. I do not feel as though this story was the same old paranormal story that we tend to read, instead it was a new look on the genre making it that much easier to read. I look forward to reading more books by this author and especially the Alex Conner Chronicles to find out how Alex and her powers grow. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in paranormal stories.
