“The best possible experience of life comes from following Christ. I should know, because I have the best life of anyone I know! The only way to disprove me is to follow Christ and see whether or not I’m right.” Father Gary Caster knows that there can be a confusing number of devotional practices in Catholicism; attending Mass, praying the Rosary, tithing, fasting, performing the Sacraments—all are important, but checking obligations off a list is not the way to a nourished soul. In Prayer The Spiritual Life Made Simple , Father Gary strips Catholicism down to Jesus’s core that we let Him love us.
Simple, of course, is not the same as easy. Jesus made it abundantly clear that we do not follow Him as individuals alone; we follow Him as companions. Every human activity and endeavor, no matter how grand or seemingly insignificant, can flow from and express our relationship with Christ. In this practical, conversational and accessible guide, you’ll learn to open the whole of your life to Christ and intentionally make him a vital part of everything you do.
Within the recesses of every human heart is a longing that only God can satisfy. You are the most important work that Jesus is up to, so why not let Him be at work in you?

Great book on prayer & the authors insights on different ways we can pray & have a better understanding of the sacraments. The stories the author tells are interesting & gives you an understanding on why he wrote the book.
The author is a dynamic and energetic speaker and is currently the associate pastor at my parish. The last few chapters seemed to peter out. I'm rereading it with enthusiasm.
The audible book is wonderfully read by Father Gary himself. It is beautifully done with lovely personal stories. I already pray everywhere thanks to my dad's encouragement. Having a priest encourage it in such joy is good. Often as a Catholic I feel the pressure is to kneel in silence hours everyday (which Father Gary does mention very important) , but that is just not practical with 5 kids in our modern world. I find peace listening to audio of the rosary while doing dishes, and praying my children in the car. Father read with joy. Some of his stories even brought tears and I delighted in the way he viewed different aspects of the Bible, prayer, and the church. This is a must listen/read.
5 SHINING STARS 🌟🌟🌟✨🌟 highly highly highly recommend this book for anyone that is the least bit interested. I read it slowly so I could take it in and not just rush through it. How Fr Caster shares with us in framing his day is definitely… I hate to say ‘life changing’… But certainly can be! So glad my sister got me this for Christmas, and then I read it during the Easter season. I plan to buy a dozen copies to share with friends.
This book is a treasure , it has anything that you will love in a book great boook , best of all is a simple profound book. Read it i you had the chase you won be disapointed.
I landed on this book by coincidence or should I say, God was pointing me to read this. Great book and really makes you rethink of why to pray and the importance of living scripture just not memorizing it.
