A comic book writer and erstwhile artist. He has won critical acclaim (including five Eisner Awards) and is one of the most successful writers working in mainstream comics. For over eight years Bendis’s books have consistently sat in the top five best sellers on the nationwide comic and graphic novel sales charts.

Though he started as a writer and artist of independent noir fiction series, he shot to stardom as a writer of Marvel Comics' superhero books, particularly Ultimate Spider-Man.

Bendis first entered the comic world with the "Jinx" line of crime comics in 1995. This line has spawned the graphic novels Goldfish, Fire, Jinx, Torso (with Marc Andreyko), and Total Sell Out. Bendis is writing the film version of Jinx for Universal Pictures with Oscar-winner Charlize Theron attached to star and produce.

Bendis’s other projects include the Harvey, Eisner, and Eagle Award-nominated Powers (with Michael Avon Oeming) originally from Image Comics, now published by Marvel's new creator-owned imprint Icon Comics, and the Hollywood tell-all Fortune and Glory from Oni Press, both of which received an "A" from Entertainment Weekly.

Bendis is one of the premiere architects of Marvel's "Ultimate" line: comics specifically created for the new generation of comic readers. He has written every issue of Ultimate Spider-Man since its best-selling launch, and has also written for Ultimate Fantastic Four and Ultimate X-Men, as well as every issue of Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Ultimate Origin and Ultimate Six.

Brian is currently helming a renaissance for Marvel’s AVENGERS franchise by writing both New Avengers and Mighty Avengers along with the successful ‘event’ projects House Of M, Secret War, and this summer’s Secret Invasion.

He has also previously done work on Daredevil, Alias, and The Pulse.

There is one pickup line Tony Stark doesn't use anymore. That line is 'Who's your Daddy?' That's because poor Tone doesn't know who his Daddy actually is.
description

The messy who's your Daddy Tony Stark storyline continues. Why because for some reason Marvel decided not to simply pretend this ridiculous tangent never existed and instead is giving it way too much attention. Marvel has to know that they'll do away with this storyline before long and it will be as though it never happened. Anyway Tony remembers some of his past including Howard Stark's funeral and finally concludes the tale of his overseas crush of the past Cassandra Gillespie. I'm not that interested in this story, but I think it only has a few issues left so I may as well see it to the end.

3.5.

The beginning made me want to tear my hair out. Bendis actually writes Tony's reaction to Howard's death well Fury's reaction made me want to kick his ass. Starting off, I have never cared for 616 Nick Fury. Samuel L. Jackson transformed the character into someone I care about. 616 Fury's a dick and this book took that to new heights.

Here's a fun game: take a shot every time Marvel tries to make Howard Stark seem redeemable? Die of alcohol poisoning.

Here we have Tony outwardly talking about his awful childhood and Nick Fury telling him that he doesn't know what he's talking about. "Hey, Tony, your Dad's a great guy because he saved your life and the lives of others!"

Cool, story; doesn't erase years of neglect and the times he hit his son. He even says "your father would beat you bloody if he saw you drinking." Who saw that and said, "Yep, print it." It was incredibly inappropriate.

Tl;dr don't ever tell an abused child how to react to their father dying. Just don't.

Anyway, after that fiasco, the present day story finally kicks off. Tony takes Cassandra down with FRIDAY flying the armor. It was pretty cool. I may not buy Tony's relationship with Cassandra but I liked the vulnerability when he asked FRIDAY to bring her in because he couldn't do it.

The ending was really, really good. This artwork works best at moments where Tony is supposed to be vulnerable.

I would've given this 4 stars if Fury hadn't made me want to claw his eyes out.
