Grayson and Isabella both need something from each other. This is your typical fake fiance storyline. Grayson is a jerk, he expects everything to be given to him and he acts like it to.

Isabella is trying to save her families business. For some reason, Grayson asks Isabella to act as his fake fiance. He needs his billions and she needs money to save her family. These two didn't get along as children when they were in boarding school why would they get along now?

This is a good book, but not any surprises for a fake fiance storyline. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.

I know this is a typical plot for adult xxx romances, but this one is well written and the scenes flow along, keeping the reader turning those pages! The two characters have such a fun time verbally teasing each other! I laughed a lot! Recommend.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Another great hit by Emily Bishop. Greyson and Isabella were such strong characters who clearly know how to push other others buttons and still get under each others skin. that have such a love hate relationship. Having known each other as long as they have and at times even appearing to hate one another at times. Then there is the undeniable chemistry they have for one another. This is a well written book that kept my reading on until the end to find out how it would all turn out for them. A definite must read. Loved the HEA!

Bad Duke is a well-written fake fiancé romance story featuring one cocky bad boy British and the straight-laced "Ice Queen" he wants to melt. This love-hate read is filled with drama, obstacles, undeniable chemistry, plot twists, and enough steam to keep you turning the pages.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

Bad Duke by Emily Bishop. 2 stars

This is my first 2 star review I’m very confused to why the book ends and 23% in. Grays the playboy is a great character but I really didn’t feel the chemistry with him and Isabella. I felt this book was rushed the start line is fantastic it’s just been rushed for me

Bad Duke by Emily Bishop a five-star read that will make you feel like royalty. What a thrilling and fascinating read, the enemies to lovers story is great Grayson Fairfax ll is the son of an earl and a bit of a waste of space as he has never had to prove himself in life and just coasts along enjoying life, the opposite of Isabella Price who is struggling to keep her head above water, she just wants to follow in her daddy’s footsteps and keep his legacy going, despite how dire the situation is looking.
The chemistry between these two was off the charts and it’s no wonder they can’t keep their hands off each other, this isn’t my favourite read by this author but it is right up there near it.

Loved it! Dumping my ARC copy. Buying the real deal. Support your publishing house-free author!

Historically, there have been many, many American heiress-British aristocracy marriages happening for over a hundred years. And usually, it was all slanted at the rich young heiress marrying for a title in exchange for a fresh, monetary infusion into British bank accounts. Well… this story is a more modern-day one except both parties, as they stand, aren’t doing well in the slush fund department, but a fake engagement can get both sides a win-win deal… if they survive each other and their cluttered pasts/presents.

Is this another rubber-stamp novel? Nah. You would think it could, but Emily Bishop has taken an oft-used plot line and has given it a new, refreshing twist. And obstacles? God, I don’t think even I could have withstood them, and I’ve taken on some doozies. But this story is definitely a keeper in my computer, so I’m ditching my ARC and buy a copy of it as soon as I see it on Amazon. I don’t say that often about many books. (Yeah, I do like this genre, but that only makes me more picky.)

Length: Definitely average novel-length.

Character development: Sometimes, you have to write a novel to get that character development and revelation believable. I was very impressed on the complexities involved in both Isabella and Grayson. And not just them. There’s Eddie as well as Lilly. (Oh God, how I would hate to have her in my life even if I was a guy.) One of the things I like about how Ms. Bishop portrays her characters is in all shades of gray. I can’t stand “perfect” characters. Heroes and heroines have flaws. Even the most detestable character may have some redeeming value. I like how this author makes this point.

Emotional factor: I can’t help but to like both Isabella and Grayson. Especially Grayson. I was wondering why he was talking and cursing more like an American. I even emailed the author (I think. You never know with all these pen names) that he should be cursing more like a Brit. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. She got that one passed me. I fell for it. You’ll have to read it because it’s probably one of the most honest moments Grayson ever revealed to anyone in his life. And Bishop writes it in such a way that it doesn’t minimizes his own sense of masculinity other than for his sense of helplessness because of the situation. God, great writing.

Speed of action: Very good pace. Not really slow. But the suspense was killing me!

Predictability: I thought I could predict this story. Obviously, as mentioned before, I couldn’t… But wait! There’s more! That is twists and turns in the plot I didn’t think Bishop would spend the time to write about.

Credibility issues: Once I read the entire story, I couldn’t find anything that annoyed me. It only reminded me that it is always a good thing to stay under the radar of social media and to avoid cell phones.

Grammar and technical errors: I must apologize to Emily Bishop. I somehow received an older manuscript that had not been cleaned up, and I wrote her regarding this. I haven’t read much of her work, and I couldn’t believe she would soon be publishing this! How could I review it honestly with all these errors? So I emailed her and received a very clean copy worthy of publication. I normally would have never done that, but I was being impulsive (lack of sleep will do that) and did it anyway. Glad I did because I really enjoyed this novel.

Just to let you know, I don’t sugar-coat anything. I tell it like I feel, and if I’m into brain candy or something more serious, you’ll know it. This isn’t brain candy. Bad Duke is about the psychological maturation of two adults – one who doesn’t believe a loving, monogamous relationship and the other looking for one but with extremely high expectations. Each come with emotional baggage galore, hidden deep inside each of their psyches. It’s not often that I see this kind of writing, but I’m glad I did today.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest, no-punches-pulled review – as you should well know by now.

With only a month to marry or risk his inheritance, can the new, irresponsible Duke make it work with Isabella when they had hated each other as teens?

Grayson Fairfax II was loving the party life with his old school friends, blasting the music so loud it would be a miracle if the windows didn’t blow apart from the heavy base! It’s a good thing for the neighbors’ sake that they were all heading out to the club tonight! In the midst of all the noise, a call from Gray’s father’s solicitor informed him that he would be inheriting over a billion pounds as sole heir! He sighed at all the women, world travel, and fun that would buy him! Until the solicitor got to the terms – he would need to be engaged within 30 days to a woman of good character!

With her father’s business dying, Isabella is pleading with the bank manager to approve her loan request. She has documented the new management’s business plans and shows the anticipated profit. She just needs them to listen! As she waits for the manager, she hears shouting from an entitled jerk saying he cannot be overdrawn and demanding the manager’s attention! With a groan, she recognizes Grayson Fairfax, the entitled jerk from school who hated her for not worshipping and fawning over him. When he sees her and spots the covered-in-red financial spreadsheet, he realizes he can probably convince her to go along with the fake engagement plan until he gets his inheritance – but he has to get her to shut up and hear him out first!

At the coffee shop, he delivers the news of his father’s death and his plan with cold, arrogant deliberation. And Isabella gets up and leaves, wanting no part of this. To Grayson, she has become a challenge and he will not stop until he melts the ice queen. When the bank still won’t loan her the money, she feels she has to save his business because he had done so much for her. So she goes back to Grayson’s hotel to talk to him. But she wants the strict agreement written out and signed, and there will be no “encounters” – an engagement in name only. He smirks and easily agrees. Can he really change? Will they be able to convince Mr. Fink, the solicitor that this is real and they care for each other? If he doesn’t believe them, the inheritance will be given to someone else. And now more than Grayson will be devastated – Isabella will lose everything as well.

This is a well written book. The characters are well drawn and will definitely set the stage for the battle that is to come. Isabella’s strong personality, morality, and dedication to her father motivate her to do all she can to make things right. Grayson wants nothing more than funding for his frivolous lifestyle. Two people could not be more opposite than these! Hang on to your eReader and enjoy the battle!

Definitely Not So Bad Duke

Grayson, the only child of a recently deceased heartless English Duke, has inherited his father's title but will not inherit his substantial fortune unless he gives up his immature attitude and playboy lifestyle and finds a fiancée in 30 days. Isabella, a former schoolmate of Grayson's at the exclusive Seattle private school Grayson's father banished him to during his early teens, is desperately attempting to save her own recently deceased father's department store legacy without much success, as banks are refusing her the loans she needs. Although they attended school together, Grayson and Isabella were never friends, as Isabella was a very serious student unlike devil-may-care Grayson, who often ridiculed her. When they unexpectedly run into one another Grayson proposes a fake engagement with Isabella, to allow them both the outcome they desire. He will inherit his father's billions and he will give her the millions she needs for her family stores.

Multiple interpersonal issues between Grayson and Isabella and a myriad of problems created by Grayson's ex, Lilly, and his cousin, Eddie (who will inherit the money if Grayson is unsuccessful and who has apparently been deceiving everyone about his motives), seriously interfere with the development of a true understanding of the real Grayson behind the facade his unhappiness lead him to create. Due in part to Grayson's efforts to show his true colors and in part to Isabella's desire to see past Grayson's occasional setbacks and her desperation to honor her father (despite Lilly's and Eddie's efforts to destroy their developing relationship), Grayson and Isabella have a real chance for a HEA.

Although this story, at times, fell directly along many other enemies to lovers and fake engagement storylines, the depth and insights provided into these two protagonist's characters and the quality writing style of the author pulled it up well beyond the cookie cutter story it might have otherwise become. The inclusion of three additional highly enjoyable books by this author also made this a very worthwhile choice.

He Wasn't her Cup Of Tea At School!
Grayson Fairfax II  has just been informed that to inherit his father's fortune he must find a woman of good conscience within 30 days to get the £1 billion - otherwise it goes to his cousin Eddie [just a hint: he's one to watch!]. Gray is more interested in being a playboy, a womaniser, spendthrift and idle boy with no commitments and I didn't particularly like him at the beginning of the story.  He has no idea what to do as all the women he knows are NOT of good character and , one in particular, Lilly, is pure poison. But then he sees Isabella - aka Miss Goody Two Shoes from way back at school who was the only girl to not fawn all over him.  Isabella's dad has died and the business is in trouble and she's trying to do her best to keep it going to support all the workers who have been loyal to them all these years.  When he proposes that he'll help her [and the business out] if she will pretend to be engaged an din love with him to his father's friend/solicitor, Mr Fink, who has never had a very high opinion of Gray, she initially rebuffs his proposition. A few hours later and the bank has declined her load she goes to Gray and negotiates with him. He wants her as she is absolutely stunning but Isabella basically tells him that Hell will freeze over before she'd have anything to do with him sexually. I think Emily Bishop has constructed a really great storyline here and I do like Isabella all the way through the book.  At the very end, Gray seems to have matured [which was about time to be honest!]. I just wish he hadn't been such an ineffectual drip towards that vile Lilly and Eddie who showed his true colours towards the end. It would have been interested to see where they were in ten years time as I still don't feel convinced by Gray's about change. A well written book by Emily Bishop and it is certainly entertaining and will keep you engrossed for a good few hours. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is basically about a bad boy, Grayson, a Duke by title, who finally grows up and come to his senses. He had a dysfunctional relationship with his father who sent him to the US to attend boarding school for high school. He feels the sting of his father’s rejection, and acts out accordingly and Isabella, a fellow classmate, won’t give him the time of day.

Fast forward many years and Grayson is in need of a fiancé in order to inherit his late father’s fortune. I don’t want to give to much away, but both Grayson and Isabella meet up and this time, get to know each other better, and eventually fall in love. Grayson was an arrogant, crass, spoiled brat who didn’t work a day in his life, and Isabella was the dreamer hoping to save her father’s legacy with the money she will gain pretending to be the fake fiancé. I have read this type of story many times before, but I liked how he was British and went from a sad and broken man, to one who finally felt he was worthy of love and affection. Even though he and Isabella started to share more of their personal life and insecurities with each other, I wish they had more intimate, honest conversations trying to get to know one another better, more romantic sexual encounters, and less walking away from each other (more on her part than his.) In the end they found their way to each other’s hearts and used the money wisely investing in small businesses.

At first I was happy that Grayson had his cousin, family, by his side and his support, but by the end of the book, Eddie was a real jerk. I hope there isn’t a sequel about Eddie. Isabella seemed focused on saving her business and on finding Mr. Right. Little did she know that she had found him long ago in high school.

Grayson Fairfax II, the new Duke of Albany, is a loveable aresehole. He grew up with a silver spoon and wants nothing more than continue his playboy ways. His father failed to rein him in while he was living, but found a way to in death. His father's will withholds everything but what is entitled, which means he is flat broke, unless he finds a respectable wife. He has to convinced Mr Finks, his father's solicitor, that his engagement is genuine. If he fails his cousin Eddie gets his billions.

Isabella Price, has inherited her fathers failing business. All she wants to do is hold on to his legacy. The bank won't give her a loan, on her good looks and business plan. When she runs into her high school nemesis, Grayson Fairfax, at the bank, he just may be the answer to her prayers.

Grayson and Isabella form a contract. She agrees to be his respectable fiancé for 30 days, and he will give her 50 million to save her fathers business. Gray the play boy and uptight Isabella start to fall for each other. Their opposite personalities balance each other out. He helps her to relax and have fun, while she reins him in. At zero hour Eddie decides he wants a bigger pay off or he is going to take it all.

A fun, funny, sweet and a little steamy romantic comedy. Liked Gray and Isabella's story. The 2 year later ending was sweet.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I really like the story, so bought a copy, and will read again. The author generously included two of her other books as a bonus.

One Bad Boy Duke, Grayson with a broken Soul- stubborn, opinionated, selfish, partied hard, promiscuous, had no cares attitude, grade A. jackhole. At least to the outside world that was the persona, he let everyone see.
Except for Isabella " The Ice Queen," who got her nickname by being the smart women who avoided the advances of " Prince Charming." Hating Grayson was always easy when the two were away in stuck in the same boarding school- many years later, the hatred is still there, but so is the attraction.
The spark is fueling more arguments on top of the stubbornness of them both- Grayson's out of the blue proposition albeit crazy and will lead to insanity, and a breakdown of defenses could very possibly solve both their problems.. If they can manage to stand each other for 30 days, convincingly shouldn't be a problem right? Ah- yeah right! Hmm maybe someone should have told them that!
Well, this story was a roller coaster of confusing feels, ups and downs and so many obstacles! The frustrating, but intriguing pair grapples with their feelings while tackling their separate agendas; I am confident I was just as frustrated as both Grayson and Isabella were at one point!
Sensual, with a hate-love feel, which turns into something more- redemption, and turning over new leaves, and that awe hug it out feels make for a fast-moving, creative-enemy to lovers romance from Emily Bishop!

Grayson is the life of the party and it doesn't look like he wants to stop anytime soon. Then with one phone call his world is turned upside down. He was the sole heir to his father's estate and fortunes however he had to be engaged to an appropriate type of woman within thirty days or his friend would get the fortune leaving him the an estate an no funds to take care of it. Isabella is struggling to get her family's business in better standing financially and its a hard road. In a chance meeting Isabella and Grayson meet at the bank and when he sees Isabella a plan unfolds. Grayson offers Isabella a deal be his fiancé and get the approval of his father's financial man and he would help get her company in the rights again. Not seeing any other way she agrees but what happens when a pretend engagement turn real without them even realizing it?

This was a great story and is very entertaining. The lead characters are former school mates but there's a thin line between love and hate and these characters have found it. The chemistry between Isabella and Grayson is off the charts hot. Emily Bishop certainly knows how to bring a story to life and this book is no different. I can't wait to see what she writes in the future.

I read this book as part of an arc program. I really liked this story about Isabella and Grayson. Grayson was about to inherit the title of Duke and the family fortune, but his father had the condition he announce and engagement within 30 days, or everything would go to his cousin. Grayson was known as a playboy and had no intention of growing up. He was sent to the US for boarding school when he was a young boy and would rather spend his time in the US now he is older. He really doesn't want the title of Duke, but wants the money. Isabella is trying to save her father's business from bankruptcy and when she sees Grayson at the bank one day, she recognizes him from boarding school. Isabella always thought Grayson was arrogant and he thought the world revolved around him. When Grayson sees Isabella, he thinks they could be the answers to each others problems. Grayson offers Isabella money to pretend to be hid fiancé, so he will inherit billions and she can save her father's store. Isabella agrees, but wants to keep things from becoming personal, but they both have a hard time keeping away from the other. I enjoyed this story, I really liked watching Grayson grow up and realize what he wants. Isabella was a lot stronger than she thought. Of course things do not run smoothly, but that's what makes it a good book.

This story is about Grayson and Isabella who have know one another from boarding school. Grayson was sent there by father leaving his lonely home in England. His father was never a good or nice dad. Grayson has no responsibilities, drinks, spends money with no worries and has many one night stands. Once his father’s will is read he learns must marry in 30 days to inherit his father’s wealth or his cousin, Eddie gets it all. Isabella is a serious person who is trying to turn her late father’s business around and finding it hard to get a bank loan. Isabella never gave Grayson the time of day or fell at his feet like all the other girls did at school. Years later they see one another and Grayson offers Isabella a deal she can’t say no to, a fake engagement for money to save her father’s legacy. Can these two ever find common ground to get along for 30 days? Once they give in to what they both feel will it only be for one night or will they give it a go for something real? There are some who don’t want to see Grayson with Isabella or Grayson with the money. Can they overcome what is needed to get Mr. Fink to see that Grayson has truly satisfied the conditions of the will! Naughty boy Grayson Fairfax the Second is used to getting everything he wants, when he wants it. Imagine his surprise when he realized the thing he wants most comes with a thirty day stipulation!

Grayson has his sights set on inheriting billions from his father’s estate. He has plans. Expensive plans. Plans that include a luxurious life spent wasting away in fabulous locations all over the world, wild parties, luxurious lifestyle, and his choice of beautiful women.

He shares his plans for his inheritances with his cousin. Life is looking very good until Grayson gets a call from his father’s estate lawyer and that’s when Grayson’s world “tilts.” His father has a completely different plan for Grayson and in order to inherit, he has 30 days to produce a wife!

Will the playboy comply or go for an alternate plan which includes the only woman he was not able to conquer…one with a brain, a planned life and some strong boundaries.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It is full of sass, drama, plenty of twists and a healthy dose of steam. My reader copy took me on a trip that gave me a front row seat into the lives of the Duke, his former classmate, his friend/cousin and a few other key characters…all in all, it was a very enjoyable story that left me with a big smile.

Normally I enjoy Emily Bishop's books. But this one... Took me a while to finish this. I kept checking to see how far I have to go to get to the end.
was
Gray and Isabella. What chemistry? I don't feel any chemistry there only friction. Abrasive friction too. Isabella is too uptight, righteous and obsessed with her father's company. Why? Why the obsession? You normally get a reason why a person is doing all she can to save the company...and I kept waiting for it...in vain. Geez. Gray, while hot and all, is self-absorbed, whiny, and really doesn't know how to handle pressure or stress. He's no hero, no alpha definitely. Just a hot guy.

And both these two people lash out at each other. On and off and on and off. It was tiring. They were wrecking themselves and the relationship. Who needs an enemy when they do a good job of messing things up already? And over things that mature people (was hoping this was Isabella) can fix. Not drink themselves to death (real men don't drink to avoid problems) or quit. They do some growing up in the end. But man, it was a journey that I could've skipped.

Next book please!

This book is so good! 💖

Grayson is a spoiled rotten prig who doesn't seem to care who he hurts, as long as he is having fun... on the outside. On the inside, there is a bit more going on. His father was abusive and demeaning to his mother until she finally just gave up and let go of life. Now his father has died and put the stipulation that Grayson has thirty days to get engaged and prove that he's changed to his father's lawyer or he can't inherit his billion pound inheritance. If he can't succeed, the inheritance goes to his cousin, Eddie.

Enter Isabella. Isabella has been working and trying to save her late father's company but simply doesn't have the cash she needs to make the upgrades. Luckily for her and Grayson, she's been "suggested by Facebook" to be friends with Eddie. sounds like a simple plan, huh? Nope. LOL 😉

This book will make you angry at Grayson and then his father. It will break your heart but it will mend it by the end.💖💔💖

Grayson needs a bride to inherit his fortune but he is one playboy that loves women and needing a wife is hard for him but he needs to do it. He knows Isabella will be perfect but they have hated each other since they were younger. Isabella will do it she needs money her family is about to lose everything.

Gray is really a bad duke he is arrogant, bossy but good looking. Isabella is a good girl that Gray wants to taint and get rid of her iciness. Isabella pushes Gray something he is not used to she makes him want more out of life once she is in his life son maybe an arrogant playboy can change his ways if the right woman comes along. Isabella is a little up tight maybe Gray can help her loosed up.Do these two become a real couple or will they kill each other before the fake engagement even ends lol.

I absolutely loved this book it was well written and very enjoyable. Bad Duke by Emily Bishop was a real exciting read with a whole lot of great dialouge between the main characters,Very fun and entertaing. He is Grayson playboy and just want to have fun Fairfax has just been given some interesting news by his father's solicitor, he will inherite when he is engaged to a suitable woman, where is he going to find a straight lace woman that quick. Isabella has just been turned down for help to save her fathers business and of all people to run into its none other than the selfish and arrogant Grayson who loved picking on her when they were in school together. But when he suggests a way she can save the business she has no choice but to hear him out. This is where the real excitement and heat begins. I highly recommend this great book a must read.

Grayson Fairfax II had nothing to do with Ice Queen Isabella Price when they were in boarding school but after being surprized by his father's will 10 years later that says his cousin will inherit the billion pounds he has been waiting for unless he can present the solicitor with a respectable fiancee within 30 days, he finds Isabella in the bank failing to get a loan to save her deceased father's department store chain. He talks her into being his fake fiancee, so he can convince the solicitor to give him the money. They make the deal but they have trouble keeping it. Gray swings between his swagging ways of when he acted out as playboy and the real Gray from before he was twelve and rejected by his father and sent to boarding school in Seattle. Trouble comes from his first love, Lillia in England, and by an electrical explosion in one of Isaella's stores. Many ups and downs! A good read!

Well written story with nice storyline and plot. Characters well described. The duke - Grayson - and Isabella hated each other in high school. Now they make an agreement that she has to play his fiancee. Their chemistry changes and their passion gets hotter. Suddenly they both become adults and realizes they are in love with each other. A story about family issues, trust, love, lust, growing up and steamy scenes.

Not that different from the other stories with a billionaire and a fake fiancee. But it can be read and is enjoyable.
Very well written captivating story with great storyline and plot. I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. I like to know what happens next, so the epilogue was very welcomed and well written.

I love Ms Bishop's writing but this one missed the mark for me. This is a enemies-to-lovers story about the irresponsible playboy duke, Gray, and the uptight, hard-working Isabella. Gray and Isabella need to work together to get Gray's inheritance. While I loved the writing, I found both characters to be too much. Gray was too much of a playboy and Isabella was too much of a goody two shoes. They didn’t feel like they fit and it made it difficult to connect with them. I did like the secondary characters, and how money changes people, some for the worse. The storyline was good, I enjoyed the people lobbying for “their share” of the inheritance.

There is absolutely no doubt that I loved, loved, loved this book. I loved Gray. Years and years of hurt and bad behavior hid the real Gray so deeply that no one not even himself knew the real guy. I loved Isabella. Years and years of major insecurity and duty kept her from knowing her inner self and how to achieve any self peace and happiness. Watching these two dig themselves and each other out was a real pleasure. They had a lot to overcome--not only the sabotage of others, but the sabotage of themselves. It was a wonderful, sexy excavation, that shouldn't be missed.
I volunteered to review an arc of this book, but, of course, as with all of Emily Bishop's books, I enjoyed it so much that I bought it. That always seems to be where I end up.

Overall I really enjoyed this but there was one main thing that kind of turned me off from it. The author used the word c**t a LOT. It was kind of off putting to me. I don’t mind it used a few times throughout a book but it was used multiple times within a couple pages, throughout.

Moving on from that, I really enjoyed Grayson and Isabella. They meet in high school and even though they weren’t friends, there was some fascination between the two. He was the popular, foreign kid and she was the nerdy, Ice Queen. Years later, they meet again, both needing help.
Can they stand to be around each other long enough to help one another or will their plan fall through?
