While it wasn't bad by any means it didn't grip me as much as the previous books did. I was mostly bummed that the two characters I had the least love for were the main speakers. I love Georjayna and Targa best, Saxony and Petra least.
Wow !!! wow !!! awesome A MUST READ I'm not even going to try and put this one into words, all i'm going to say is Abby-Lynn Knorr you have outdone yourself on this one, loved it to bits, sooo sorry it's the last in series, would have loved more, hope we are going to see some more combinations in this grouping though please ?? Low rating due to the plot choices that I won't detail as I don't want to mention many spoilers.
But in general, this seemed a bit of a lazy roundup to the story that was making a buildup through 5 books coming from before. Almost half of the book went on describing one night of girls catching up and reintroducing us to what happened to each of them in previous books, so I was really fighting my way through, not willing to skip paragraphs. Then introducing new villain-finding out who's the bad guy-making a huge meds-saving the city got all squished into the second part of it. And should I even say, how disappointing it is, to see characters that you developed attachment to and found out about their coolest abilities through not 1, but 5 books prior to that ended up being just.... Pretty much useless? What was the point to hype them up in the first place then?
Interesting world, fresh and quite detailed take on all the usually beaten up supernatural powers, memorable and distinct characters and all leading to... This? I'm almost leaning to recommend to finish on the Born of Aether and forgetting that there are two more books.
“She said that about every seventy-five years or so, the Archons need to feast. The small-time stuff that happens isn’t enough for them. The last one was World War II and the Holocaust”
Seems disrespectful to make a passing comment about the Holocaust being a result of a hungry demon in your novel? Immediately one star
The Elementals: The Elemental Origins Ensemble Novel (The Elemental Origins Series Book 6)
Finally the truth is out awesome. I loved 🥰 how Targa, Akiko, Saxony, and Georjianne shared what each of them were , then here comes Petra….. I enjoyed the whole series and this book gives way into each of their personal stories can’t wait to start reading the next series from each of the girls…. Finally !!!! What a ending. Suspenseful and kind of mind blowing. Not what I expected and exceeded my expectations. So well written.
Okay I do love this book, however. I do have a couple of issues so we'll get to those first and I'll gush later..
1. This book could have been so much more, by this I mean that there are a few supernaturals that we meet along the way and then we literally don't see them again. 2. I need to know what happens with Saxony at mage school. 3. Targa and her beau? 4. Gee and beau? 5. Akiko!!
Okay now to gush... This was so explosive and Petra was really the main badass star in this.<3 However the other girls were so... ugh. Literally my emotions were so crazy while reading this and was so enthralling that I read this in practically one sitting. If you haven't read these you really really should.
This is a worthy conclusion to the Elementals series. First off, if you haven't read the other 5 books in the series, you would need to prior to reading this book. I recommend reading them in the order they were released/written, beginning with "Born of Water", but it is possible to read the first four books out of order, then "Born of Air", and finally this book.
** POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW **
I found the beginning bit to be maybe a little slow, but I think it's just because I was eager to read the final book in the series. Once I got to the sleepover part, it was super lightning quick! Was glad to see the return of a character in Petra's life - I was hoping to see that particular character again - and so many things were explained from previous books. It was kind of like an Easter Egg hunt... little bits here and there that the author cleverly placed in other books, without me knowing it was significant, until WHAM! They appeared in this book. One particular revelation involving Petra was absolutely amazing!! Makes me want to go back to the beginning of the series and re-read the whole thing! My daughter (who is 14) loves the series as well!
I couldn't put my kindle down once I started reading. This book made me love the characters even more. The only thing that upsets me is now I have to wait for the next book. I recommend reading all of the origin stories before this one. While not completely needed, it will make this book better by already having a connection to these characters. I applaud A.L. Knorr for creating these strong and powerful female role models. They're a breath of fresh air in a world where men are usually the heroes. I simply can't wait for the next chapter of this series. Thank you A.L. Knorr for your continual brilliance!
THIS WAS MY INITIAL REVIEW HERE ON GOODREADS, AFTER READING THE BOOK Perfect end for this arc of stories
I've accidentally stumbled upon the first book. It was very interesting, with great storytelling, a well-developed plot and characters I loved. Then I gave the other books a chance and ended up loving the whole universe Knorr created. This particular book was awesome because it gathers all girls within the same story. It's a great ending for the beginning of their stories... Because I sure hope there will be more. And if there will, I'm getting them as soon as possible!
THIS IS THE REVIEW I POSTED ON AUDIBLE.COM AFTER LISTENING TO THE AUDIO BOOK VERSION
After reading individual stories of the girls, each set in a different city around the world, they're all finally back in their hometown of Saltford, Canada. But they don't get to have too much time to figure their powers out, because something comes along... disguised as an opportunity, but in reality is the biggest test of their powers they've had so far.
The author managed to bring them back with a wonderful story. The plot goes along at just the right pace, and while there are SO MANY twists and turns and discoveries, you don't feel overwhelmed. You just can't manage to put to the book down because you have to know what happens next!
The story is told, this time, from 3 point of views: Petra's, Saxony's and Akiko's (in the second half of the book). This was probably the best choice, because if we had to juggle more characters, the overwhelm factor would appear. But we do get to see Targa and Georjie do their part in the story and no one is left out.
Overall, I felt it was the best ending possible to this first arc of the story. I can't wait to get more individual adventures with the girls!
As with every book in this series, Gabra Zackman does wonders. She manages to voice all 5 of the main character without any trouble and with each of their individual tone and way of speaking. She also manages to transmit the right emotions at the right time.
Overall, this series was a wonderful experience and I'm sure to get anything else A.L. Knorr will write!
I’ve been overwhelmed with delight each time I’ve had the (truly total) pleasure of reading one of of A.L. Knorr’s Elemental Origins series novels. Now, in The Elementals, we get all five elementals together in action. It’s a total treat getting Targa (water), Saxony (fire), Georjayna (earth), Akiko (aether) and Petra (air) all at once - sort of like one of the most recent Marvel super-movie where all of the characters from prior films got together, but much (MUCH) better. This book really had it all. It was superbly written. It had a superb plot. It had a superb supporting cast of characters. Frankly everything I wanted was there and just, well, superb. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. Really the only bad thing about this book is that it’s the penultimate one in the series. Now I love that word, penultimate, as it’s such a classy way of saying “next to last”, but darn it that means it’s the next to last! I’m now both desperately looking forward to and dreading getting that next book since it will be the last of a - you guessed it - superb series.
Excitement abound with girl friends turned Elementals. To say they were on the wrong side is putting it lightly. Each had their special ability that had to do with the elements, Fire, Water, Earth and an immoral that was connected to the Aether/demon Hunter. Then came Petra, another Elemental of air. Finding out all of them were building something for the elite and in cahoots with a demon. Each page is a story by itself and so much fun to read. Good story, good writing. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
Phenomenal! This was a great conclusion to the Elemental Origin series, and we really see the girls embrace their powers and how strong their bond of friendship/family truly is. Filled with more supernatural magic and action, this was definitely an entertaining read. I actually wished it was a little longer so that we could here from the perspective of each of the girls (primarily we follow Petra and Saxony and a little bit of Akiko). I really hope their journeys continue though and that we get to see more from these girls! Prepare some tissues too!
After getting to know all the girls separately in their own stories, it was certainly great to see them all sharing the pages (and eventual powers) with one another. I particularly liked how author A.L. Knorr spent plenty of time with making sure the girls spend significant time together, not just to better solidify the friendship they've mostly shared from a distance in the previous books, but also to share in their mutual discoveries of each other's powers. It was fun joining them in learning about one another as if I was doing so all over again.
The story was pretty mildly predictable, at least in execution, but it still kept my attention anyway. Once the girls are reunited with each other to share their adventures, things get even more intriguing when they meet Petra, who has been working with an organization set on improving the livelihoods of humanity. Petra is sent to recruit the girls, should they so choose, in the hopes that the four total elements can join forces to see the mission through. But there be secrets afoot, and of course you learn of those secrets as the story progresses. The third act was fantastic stuff, since it really highlighted the full magnitude of the girls' powers.
What disappointed me the most was the narrative duties being primarily carried by Petra and Saxony, with only a couple of chapters by Akiko thrown in. I realize that having ALL girls POV's might have been a bit overwhelming, but I certainly don't think a chapter or two or three could have hurt, especially when all girls were in the same scenes. This book felt the most like it belonged to Petra, so it definitely came across more like a direct sequel to one book than a cross-over of all of them. Fortunately, Petra's book was my favorite of the series, so I was pretty forgiving about that.
Overall, this was a pretty fun series with some vivid imagery to populate my brain as I read through. Though I'm glad to have read it, I don't see myself diving any deeper into everyone's stories. It's very much geared to YA audiences, of which I am not, and I can't help my hunger for more adult themes. Things are just too tame for my liking, so I dunno if I want to subject myself to more teeny boppery stuff. For now, anyway. But in the future, who knows? I may just come back for some more...
I love to read. I read one book and was so drawn in that I ended up downloading and reading the entire series and searching for more from this author! I was so excited to see there were stories to follow of each of the characters in the series. A little disappointed to discover that Georjie’s series Earth Magic Rises is not compatible with my devices. Super excited to see the author has so many other series I can read and have already downloaded. The only thing is I wish the books were longer. I end up reading a whole book in a day. It would be nice if they were a little longer and took me a week or more to read. The author draws you in to the stories by making you feel like you could know these characters. She gives them real life problems or drama that most can relate to. I would like to elaborate on the ending of one story but don’t want to spoil it for others who haven’t read it yet. I’ll just say the author would draw more readers in if she were to expand on the emotions of the characters more in depth than short lived settings. Anger, sadness, happiness, etc., could be expanded on with more in depth details making the readers feel those emotions with the characters other than just reading about them.
I know this book got a lot of great reviews for the ending but I think it could have been better. I am not saying it was bad but it was definitely a little disappointing plus it ended on a huge cliffhanger that didn't really tie up any of the loose ends. Questions that I have is why did the author decide to tell this story from Saxony (mostly), Petra and Akiko's point of view? It should have been from all of the characters, I have a feeling that Saxony is the author's favorite character. Why didn't Saxony tell Georji what Basil told her about the Wise? Petra is so practically the most powerful elemental so why does she not have her own spinoff? What's next for Akiko? What about the twin mages that Saxony met, where were they when this was happening? So many unanswered questions and there were grammatical errors which sucks especially when they mess up the flow of the story. It was an ok ending, but could have been way better. I wanted to give this a 3.5 but that's not an option, I think I am being generous with a 4. But this by no means concluded the series in a clear and concise manner.
I won’t say that I didn’t like it at all but I’m gonna be honest and say it wasn’t what I was expecting and it disappointed me. Literally most of that book is the backstory of Petra. I remember getting angry in Born of Wind because we got so many unanswered questions, and reading this, this is what Knorr should’ve put in that book. We may as well call this book Petra’s backstory honestly. She narrated a lot of the book to and let’s be honest, she’s more powerful then all four girls put together. And though she’s “supposed to be” the wind element we don’t ever see anything wind like used till chapter 26 of this book. I see why she did it how she did but still. I also wasn’t happy that Saxony was one of the other main speakers, I feel like Georjie would’ve been a better fit. When Saxony is narrating a lot circles around Georjie. I also don’t mind that Akiko is one of the narrators but I wish she had had more book time instead just at the end. So yeah, not the best work here, it dragged on a lot but FINALLY picked up and got interesting come the end. 3.5 stars for me.

This is the final book in the elemental series. This book follows petra, targa, saxony, georgi and akiko. They are head hunted by a company that wishes to do some good with all the elements at hand. It is written from three of the girls prospective and follows how their story unfolds as they discover Saltford is facing a new threat. But can they overcome this threat? They must work together and separately with an unexpected twist. This book has the reader gripped from start to finish. My favourite character is Jesse. He has secrets but he turns out good in the end My least favourite character is mrs marks. Her intentions are completely wrong and she really doesn't seem to care so it makes it worse. I would definately recommend this book.
I received this book for free and I am giving my honest and voluntary review of it.
I thought this was a great end to the "Elemental Origins" series. After I read the first 5 books I have to say Petra was my least favorite character out of the 5 girls so I was a little sad that the book was mostly from her point of view but I understand why because a lot of it was a continuation from her story and book, Born of Air.
I was also a little sad of where things where left with Akiko, wish we knew a little bit more about what happened with her.
Overall it was a great story and it leaves all the girls in a great place for their respective series and I look forward to reading each of them!
This series caps off with a bang. I love the characters and they are unstoppable together. This series is enthralling and I highly recommend this to anyone. Knorrs writing is perfect and Gabra as the narrator makes it shine. In this book the girls finally come together and learn about their powers together. They learn they can create miraculous things together when they each have their part in the creation. Of course like any good book things go sideways and there are villains to defeat. I know the girls all have their own spin off series but I hope for their friendship they are all in each other's series and there are future books where they are together.
The Elementals (Elemental Origins #6), my fifteenth read from author A.L. Knorr. WOW! Extremely well written, the characters, even the minor ones, are well developed with an attention-grabbing storyline. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make the reader get invested into the characters and thereby the story. Extremely well written. I’ll be reading more from this author! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
It was wonderful to see all the girls together again. This segment of their story was full of surprises. I felt for Petra when she found out some of the answers to the question she was looking for. Betrayal hurts but Petra will have to decide if she can forgive and move forward. The ending of their story was full of emotion. I’m excited for each of them as the being their new adventures but I’m a bit sad to see them go their separate ways, especially Akiko. I can’t wait to find out where their journeys will lead them.
Grad was Akiko angeht bin ich echt neugierig ob da noch was kommt. Damit hätte ich nämlich nicht gerechnet. Für Zwischendurch mag ich die Reihe echt gern.
The Elementals work together to get rid a company and a very strong demon.
Wow. I'm so impressed with your story telling. I just finished the Elemental Original Series and I want more of each girl and their supernatural powers. A.L.Knorr has a series of stories for each girl, so how lucky am I. These fantasy stories are about the teenage girls' love for each other and a crazy summer when they all discover their supernatural powers! Each of the girls will use their power to right wrongs and save their town from an ancient demon.
I anticipated this reunion among friends since the end of the first book, and each subsequent book only cranked my enthusiasm up a notch. I was not disappointed!! These friends are true family to each other and now I’m curious to see how they will find their way back to each other. They’ve scattered across the realm! And Petra...! That girl is amazeballs!! I need moooooooore!!
What a spectacular ending to a fantastic series! Like, it was hard to see that coming. I loved seeing everyone coming into their "elements", so to speak. :D And Akiko...
The only thing I found wrong with the final book is that while it brings some sense of closure, in many ways it does not. But I imagine that has something to do with the world continuing (and it better, because I'm particularly curious about Arcturus. I mean, come on!).
It was interesting and new. I didn’t read previous books and that may have been a disadvantage. I felt there were a lot of terms that blended with another. Was a little confusing, but I got it after a bit. I didn’t get into the story as much as others. I know things moved fast, but I feel there were oversights that could have made it better. I feel like the setup of this story didn’t give enough dramatic appeal.
