A Dying Man's Request: "Find Her"

When Ted Danforth has a massive, life-threatening heart attack, he summons the most-unlikely ally to his bedside: Edwin Burrows.

Once Edwin appears, he's asked to "find her." But Ted's incomplete request also comes on the heels of a client's unsolved, violent murder.

A Dying Man's Secrets Come to the Surface

Edwin Burrows, CPA, starts digging and discovers that Ted and the massacred client had a few secrets they'd kept hidden for years... the kinds of secrets that are meant to be buried.

The Brother She's Always Wanted?

One of those secrets? Ted fathered an illegitimate child, bringing the mysterious request a little too close to home: Rachel has an illegitimate sibling. But how much does Rachel really know? How far will people go to keep such secrets buried?

The Lengths People Will Go For Love...

Secret lives. Secret offspring. Secret Accounts... Edwin soon discovers that people--wives, husbands, children--will go to immeasurable lengths to keep certain stains buried. And what for? For love.

But even Edwin isn't immune; with a few secrets of his own, he discovers something new about his own capacity for secrets. And love. And truth.

Harvey Church has a background in finance, which is how he found himself writing about the people and ridiculousness (sometimes the same thing) of that field in his Edwin Burrows light mystery series. Although he considers himself retired from that field (aka not working), he's planning another three Edwin Burrows novels for 2018.

His first "serious" novel, The Last Friend, is a Kindle Scout writing competition winner and was published by Kindle Press on January 9, 2018. The BookLife Prize called it "an entertaining read for mystery and thriller fans alike," and said it is "an unexpected and exciting series of events that will grab readers." Harv plans two sister novels to The Last Friend in 2018, one titled The Last Night (Spring 2018) and the other tentatively titled The Last Survivor.

For fun, Harv likes to practice street magic and spends hours engineering tricks to wow his audiences. He is also an avid hockey fan (Go Leafs Go). As for the boring details: He has a wife (incredible) and two kids (depends on the day, but they’re normally incredible too). His favorite color is blue, but he drives a black car because he read somewhere, back in the 90’s, that radar detectors have a tough time seeing them. Interestingly, he never speeds because he's too busy singing like nobody's watching, or maybe it's that everybody is deaf.

He's a supporter of double-chins, double-dates, and double-dipping (though never on double-dates), and obviously enjoys writing about himself in the third person, in the voice of the narrator from The Royal Tenenbaums.

Connect with Harv by searching Harvey Church Mysteries on Facebook, at @hashtag_harv on Instagram, and @harveychurch1 on Twitter. You can also find him wandering the streets of Chicago, Toronto, Montreal or the Lido deck of a Princess Cruise ship. If you ever meet Harv, ask to see a magic trick!

Edwin Burrows is back in the Windy City.  He's in pursuit of something or someone based on the deathbed whisper from Ted Danford.  No one, not even his least favorite ex-employee, Edwin, can figure out why Danford specifically called him to his hospital bed.  While Danford languishes in ICU after a heart attack, Edwin and Danford's daughter, Rachel, chase circuitous clues trying to figure out what Danford's request meant.

Edwin Burrows, the bumbling accountant turned mystery solver, is one of my all-time favorite characters.  He is funny, sincerely, and while not necessarily self-deprecating, he understands the limit of his appeal to the opposite sex.  Motherhood has not softened Rachel Danford, Edwin's side-kick (and perhaps the mastermind in their two-man operation).  I love their banter.  It is at times funny and supportive, and at other times it is impatient and harsh (well, at least Rachel can be harsh).
Series fans will happily welcome back their favorite secondary characters.  Cutie-patootie baby Eloise continues to charm everyone.  Harvey Church's descriptions of the little darling made me wish for a little one (well, maybe just to borrow on for an hour or two).  Bengal and Arjun are hilarious!  They're perfect foils for Edwin.  Sear, Edwin's lost love, reappears and toys with his heart.  He is torn between rekindling their relationship and honoring Danford's request.

Will the doughy accountant solve the mystery and get his girl?  Will Danford's secret mission lead to his demise?  I predict that the delightfully humorous Devil's Dividend will have readers glued to their chairs while they get the answers to those burning questions.

I absolutely love following the Edwin Burrows mysteries. Edwin is so unique, quirky, and you can't help but love him. Devil's Dividend by Harvey Church is the next installment of the mysteries and all I can say is, it's about time! I was instantly thrown back into Edwin's crazy world and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Devil's Dividend is intriguing, curious, funny, and just fascinating. I found myself turning page after page and never wanting to stop because I wanted to solve this new case of Edwins as much as he did. In this book, so many secrets are revealed that Edwin doesn't see coming. My heart went out to him and especially Rachel. Everything that happens impacts Rachel's world so completely. In Devil's Dividend, Edwin must solve a new case for his boss Ted. One of Ted's clients is found murdered and you'll never believe who the killer is or who the client really is to Ted. By the end of the last page, I found myself holding my breath and finally, everything came together the way I'd hoped. I so loved how close Edwin and Rachel got in this book. It was definitely a long time coming.

So if you enjoy a good mystery that takes you on one heck of a roller coaster, then you'll enjoy this one. *Make sure you read all the books in order so you don't miss any of the action.*
I give Devil's Dividend 4 out of 5 STARS!

This was a wonderful series. It’s a Murder mystery that is very fast paced with action, romance and humor thrown into the mix. I enjoyed all of the characters and how they play against one another. I’m hoping there will be more to this series.

Edwin wises up

Another great Harvey Church book featuring accountant turned detective Edwin. The plot of this book keeps you guessing. Who killed his bosses ex lover? Rachel helps put the pieces together with Edwin while dealing with her fathers health issues. Can’t wait to read number 5 in this series.

The continuing saga of Edwin the bumbling accountant detective, who is called back to Chicago to investigate something for his old boss. This mystery of infidelity, strange sex practices, new siblings and as always follow the money. Edwin is still clueless on his love life which adds hilarity and tension to the story. Great series from a different angle.

These are good stories. I was a little confused at the end because it went from someone getting shot to a meeting in the park. I am being vague so as not to spoil the book. I thought maybe he was dying and imagining those things. It seemed to wrap up too quickly. Overall, good series, entertaining.

Edwin Solves Another One

It seems that Edwin just cannot help but bumble he way through relationships and mysteries. Although he is better at solving mysteries than he is figuring out relationships. This was a great book. Filled with humor along with murders to be solved, this story was entertaining and had a great ending.

Satisfactory

This is my favorite Harvey Church novel yet. Character development much improved and storyline more convoluted and kept me guessing. Looking forward to reading more about Edwin and Ra chel

Sorry, I just couldn't finish it. I found the writing somewhat childish and the the girl unbearable.
