Ahhhhh I thought we can see the play in this volume nevertheless we know what's the plot and the characters and I must say Koyomi did a really great job.

I am so excited to see the play but it's all about Nanami and how she feels rather than the play so I am more excited to see that.

And that ending Yuu asking Koyomi to change the ending was everything.

I don't want Sayaka to be the third wheel seriously, I want to see her happy.💜💜

Finally I could like this story!
In this volume Nanami is confronted with the many facets that her deceased sister had and that to her was unknown.
Along with the knowledge that she didn't know her sister as well as she thought, she is exposed to doubts about her own personality.
While Nanami is bewildered by how she ought to be, who she must be, and who she really is, Yuu seems to go deeper into her relationship with Nanami.
While Yuu doesn't say she's in love with Nanami, she's certainly acting like she's falling in love. I believe that at a certain level she is aware that she likes the senpai romantically.
However, Nanami says several times that she doesn't want Yuu to fall in love with her, in fact she makes the girl promise not to fall in love.
In this volume she says that one of the reasons that she is in love with Yuu is that she knows that her feelings will not be reciprocal, so she doesn't have to worry about how to behave and decide how and who she wants to be for Yuu, because nothing that she makes will lead to the girl fall in love with her.
This explanation is a bit strange , but ...
As in previous volumes, all talk of student stuff bored me, but in this volume less than in others.
In fact ... 4.5 stars

I don’t think I’ll be able to really evaluate this series until it ends, because it’s so hard to tell where it’s going. It makes me uncomfortable that Yuu keeps saying that she doesn’t like Nanami’s attentions and that Nanami is taking advantage of her — is the reader supposed to understand that Yuu’s internalized homophobia is behind these statements and that she really is interested in Nanami? Is Yuu asexual? Why is the word asexual never even mentioned? Nanami is an interesting character with a promising arc but Yuu is nominally the main character and four books in I still have no idea what her orientation is. The art continues to be absolutely gorgeous and the characters are intriguing, so I’ll keep reading, but I really have no idea how this will wrap up and I can see the possibility of it being done very, very badly.

It's vacation time again, and that means short, lazy, and/or non-existent reviews, depending on my access to wi-fi and a proper keyboard. (I've made my peace with the fact that I will never be able to compose properly on the phone.)

We've got our mandatory hot springs episode--including boob size comparison--out of the way. It was subtler than usual, so that's something. I appreciate that Yuu is approaching her relationship with Touko in an ethical way, and is trying to figure out what that means for someone who is immune to romantic sentiment. I could honestly see the triangle playing out either way, if it weren't pretty obvious who the destined couple was.

If you've enjoyed the first three volumes there's nothing here likely to disappoint.

We learn a little more about Touko's history, and gain some understanding into why she's happy in a relationship in which her love is not returned.

The art is as great, characters are cute and engaging and we've reached the halfway point.

Bring on Volume Five...

I really felt like this series had finally clicked for me, sadly volume 4 proved me wrong. Touko and Yuu are both so irritating in this volume and there’s almost no relationship progress in this one. There’s some decent stuff with Touko’s backstory in one chapter but the rest of it is just a waste of time. Hopefully vol 5 will push back in a positive direction.

I’m scared I’ll use that kindness til it’s all gone.

3.5 stars. Definitely my favourite volume so far. We got some interesting revelations that give us some insight into Touko's past and her personality and her sister, and she learns some things that shakes her up a little bit, and will possibly have ramifications for her determination for Yuu not to fall in love with her. And I really like the subtle shifts and character development we got for Yuu as well. As I predicted, I'm getting more and more into the story, the more and more Yuu starts to reciprocate Touko's feelings. There were some really cute moments for them. I especially liked when Yuu met up with her old friend, Natsuki, and Natsuki realises that Yuu has allowed herself to start showing more emotions, and be more reactive, and say what she likes and doesn't like, thanks to Touko.

I got more into the play than I thought I would; it was a nice way to parallel some of the things that Touko is going through and feeling. And it's just an interesting idea for a play; an amnesiac who has three different people in her life, showing her three different versions of who she was before she lost her memory. I did get a little irritated at the bath scene; completely unnecessary. I said it in the review for the last volume, but this series is mostly portrayed as YA, so those moments where we get bathing suits or underwear scenes and blurry/censored nudity are a little weird to me. I don't think it's anything inappropriate for a YA audience, and it wasn't gratuitous, but I still don't like it.

But the volume as a whole is still a winner for me. The last scene, with Touko talking about her feelings and them cuddling, was so sweet and a little heartbreaking. I'm looking forward to seeing how Yuu conveys her feelings in the next volume.

Because I hate who I am. And how can I be in love with someone who loves something I hate?

The student council play brings Touko’s issues regarding the death of her sister to the forefront. The members have a three day practice camp to rehearse for the performance and the love triangle aspect of the story intensifies.

I’m enjoying this manga more and more with each volume. I think I would rate earlier volumes higher on a reread. This is an emotionally satisfying read, the characters really pop, and the art couldn’t be better. I would tear through this series if there wasn’t a long hold queue for each library copy. Luckily I have the next volume in hand!

Book: Bloom Into You, Volume 4
Author: Nio Nakatani
Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars

I found this fourth volume to be rather refreshing. While we didn’t get to see the student council play in this one, there was just something so charming and relaxing about watching the main characters go through their day to day lives. I don’t know what is about this slow daily life things that really has me hooked on this series.

I really like the slow development of the characters’ relationships with not only themselves, but the other characters. It’s kind of refreshing to have this slow burn, instead of the normal fast pace instant love that seems to be so common in books. I want to see the characters have a chance to form a bond and get to see them grow closer. Having them fall in love so quickly doesn’t always work and I’m glad that’s what the author is doing here. We get to experience the idea of falling in love right along with the characters. There is no rush. Instead we are given these lovely little moments that allow us to see this bond form.

I think that getting to see the bond and getting to know the characters along with them is what really makes this series stand out to me. With each new volume, we are learning something new about the characters. We are seeing the drive to be perfect, the pressure, the desire to something, and so much more. At first, we didn’t see this, because, like our main characters, we really didn’t know them. Now, we are. For example, at the start of the manga, we didn’t know that a lot of Nanamai was driven by her dead sister’s memory and now we do. By knowing this now, we are able to see why she does some of the things that she does. Plus, here, she has to face some facts about her sister that she would probably rather not. Again, this all adds to her character.

I guess that what I’m getting as is that all of these layers and things that we are learning in each volume really adds to the overall story arc. I like getting to experience these things very slowly because I find that it works. Getting to know the characters and seeing the story at a slower pace just works for this series. If the pacing had been faster, I really don’t think that this series would have the same charm that it does.

Anyway, I can’t wait to pick up volume five and see how this all plays out. I’m kind of sad that I’m halfway through this series already.

"I don't want Nanami-senpai to hate herself."

This is a volume of revelations.

We get a better look at Nanami Touko's trauma that has led her to emulate the image she has of her deceased sister, as well as possibly the origin to her self-hate (or at least the one big contributor). The clues trickle in slowly.

And Touko learns something that will shake what she saw as irrefutable truth. Alongside Koyomi Kanou's play hitting the nail right in the head, Touko is up for some emotionally challenging times in her convictions, I'm sure.

This story is definitely more than a romance. Like I said, it is a slice of life, so we see how many of the side characters are dealing with things in their life: dreams, identity, growth, rejection. Even without spending a lot of time with them, I can see how they are dealing with their fast approaching coming-of-age. I like that.

"Because I hate who I am. And how can I be in love with someone... who loves something I hate?"

It explores several types of love besides the romantic, and different kinds of relationships. And Touko's path to learning to love herself, allow herself vulnerability is a difficult love story that will be relatable to plenty of people. It doesn't matter if there's people telling you you're worthwhile and that they love you, that you're not a burden, or annoying, or that they aren't just tolerating you. You have to believe those things yourself. And in your journey to self-love amongst anxiety and lack of confidence, your new found love may waver now and then. Recovery isn't linear.

”And how can I be in love with someone… who loves something I hate?”

3.5 rounded up.

I didn’t enjoy this volume as much as the last one because I felt it focused too much on useless side-plots rather than focusing on Yuu and Nanami’s relationship development but it was still enjoyable to read overall

One side-plot I did appreciate however was the play. Having Nanami play the main lead who’s got amnesia and having the people she loved all remember her as a different person is genius and parallels perfectly to her own struggles with her identity. Especially since everyone in her life who knows her, all see her differently in some capacity. And, after speaking to an old friend of her sister, Mio, she realises she and her sister are not as alike as she previously thought and that further distresses her. I felt for her so much

I enjoyed seeing more of Sayaka’s thoughts. Unlike being a plot device used to get between Yuu and Nanami, she’s actually her own person who I wish all the best for. Also her dismissing that homophobic childhood friend whom she previously had a crush on was so satisfying. I want Nanami and Yuu to be together of course but Sayaka also deserves to find someone who loves her.

That last scene with Yuu and Nanami??? I knew it. Nanami hates herself and can’t bear for Yuu to love something she hates. I can only hope Yuu can change Nanami’s distorted and hateful perception of herself

My affection for this series grows with each volume. The creator tugs on heartstrings as she emphasizes that this book features a love triangle, focusing more on Touko's best friend who harbors a major crush on Touko. Tensions run high among our emotionally confused trio as they share a room and a bath at a summer camp organized to rehearse a custom-written, highly personal play for the upcoming school festival.

2,5 ☆ this was slightly better than the previous ones considering there wasn’t any sa i think? the bar is in hell, please.
sayaka is my favorite and i want her to be happy.
yuu must be protected at all costs, i find interesting how she’s navigating her aroace feelings.
as for nanami… i don’t really care about her, but i guess the dead sister storyline is better than the constantly neglecting boundaries and taking advantage of the girl she so supposedly loves storyline.

This is a manga series that I will keep in my bookcase till the day I die.

As the story progresses the characters develop and deepen their understanding of one another. Though they still have their own lives and make progress on their own.
The way the two main characters function together is confusing at times, but it is slowly cleared.
I cannot wait for more!

Definitely definitely am liking this series. I love the fact verbal consent is a thing, which is something you don't see that often in manga and books. It was something I didn't realize was needed until I started reading this. Also, love the dynamic between the two

Ahora ya me parece más interesante. La trama de la obra de teatro y los problemas de Toko me llaman más la atención que el rollo amoroso, aunque también ha mejorado.
