Volume 5 contains more fluff than ever - YAY! And this time...there are feelings between Shimana and Fujiwara <3
In this instalment, the following happens:
- Shimana declares her feelings for the landlord at a school festival day - Shimana and Fujiwara start dating! Yaaaaay! - Zen is heartbroken because of the above :'( - Fujiwara tells Ken (Zen's older brother) that he doesn't like Shimana in that way but he does want to fall for her - Zen sees how happy Shimana is with the landlord and tells her that he has fallen out of love with her (but secretly he still does) - The English teacher that Fujiwara used to date comes back in to his life...with someone else in tow...
And that bombshell!! Oh my god!!! I need the next volume now!

It’s so fast paced, but the story just keeps getting better 😭 I love it. All of the characters are evolving, and the plot is becoming more concrete—the relationships are complicated. (Also, if someone confessed to me the way that Shimana did, I would probably sink beneath the floorboards.)
A fairly standard teen soap opera indulges in the school festival cliche. The heroine's crush on the landlord gets creepier as he starts to passively pursue the relationship. I was hoping this storyline would have wrapped up by now but am worried it is becoming the central point of the series. That's giving me unpleasant flashbacks to two other manga series that started fine then veered into very sketchy territory:
I hated every second of this from the BOLD way she forced a confession out of the Landlord to the fact that this man said YES??? Like NO. And then I thought he would fix things and just say it was just a heat of the moment thing. That dude would come to his senses... right? RIGHT??? NO!! He said he'll try to fall in love with her and then went on date with her, almost kissed her??? Like her relationship with the landlord doesn't make sense in the slightest. I would kind of understand her having a crush, but them dating?? Referring to himself as her boyfriend???? Stop it. I really thought she would get rejected, she would be heartbroken and then see Zen and realize they're perfect for each other, but this shit took a TURN. And now the teacher the landlord used to fuck with when he was in high school has appeared and her child looks suspiciously like him.... The DRAMA. Also we still haven't really gone into Asahi's drama well enough plus the whole brothers thing?? Why are we wasting time on this bullshit??
Anyway I'm upset, but like despite the one star rating and heated review, I'm entertained even if it is too cringey to handle for a lot of this volume. I'm still continuing on with this series because what the fuck. I need some air.

I'm uncomfortable with so many of these developments: the grand-gesture public love confession, the age/maturity/power gap (puppy crushes are one thing, getting into an actual romantic relationship is quite another) compounded by the fact that Taiga isn't even into Shimana so really, he's using her.
I thought people who has graduated from high school were adults(mature) when I was a high school student. There were many rules that is not allowed high school students in Japan. Shimana worries about the difference in their ages and Taiga’s ex-girlfriend appears in this volume. Moreover she is an adult and she try to talk with Taiga in front of Shimana. I thought she is very mean because she knows Shimana likes Taiga. However Taiga need to talk with his ex-girlfriend to move forward and he have to face Shimana in honesty.

This volume was pretty bad. Landlord was forced to say yes. He is 27/28 yo while she is just finished her first yr of HS!!! He even keeps calling her a kid. He has problems with women. I feel bad for Ken. Im rooting for Ken
This one was so heart wrenching but also so funny. I laughed a lot in this book.
The whole story is becoming more and more serious and intense. I felt for Zen throughout the books but now I feel for Shimana, too. I want for the both of them to find happiness. They both deserve it.
I wonder If the Landlord does feel anything for Shimana at all. I feel he has a lot of issues.
I was NOT expecting Taiyou to try and be interested in Shimana. But my heart is breaking for Zen. He’s such a great guy, just a bit immature 😢 Nervous and angst-y for the next volume though... 😆

Oh, Shimana! I can’t blame you because you’re so young, but someone needs to shake some sense into you, girl! “Mr. Landlord” is an asshole that no amount of tragic background can excuse. I have a feeling that he’s been very much a victim himself, but that doesn’t make what he’s doing to Shimana okay. And as always…poor Zen!
I really don't like where things are headed. Zen not liking Shimana anymore, Shimana dating the landlord even though he doesn't like her like that, plus, Shimana knowing he doesn't like her and still going after him. It's all so messy.

Major Ls that happened: - Shimana confessing to Fujiwara in front of the whole school population and wanting an answer there and then. If I were Fujiwara, I'd hate her for that. These things (confession and proposals) should never be done in a setting where it's beyond the parties themselves. - Fujiwara agreeing to go out with Shimana after he met his ex, even though he doesn't like her in the same way that she likes him. - Zen giving up on Shimana AND LEAVING THE HOUSE.
To be frank, I've a thought that Fujiwara perhaps carries some kind of (physical/sexual?) trauma from the past. From the way he reacts when women/girls touch him (as seen in the scenes where the teacher/his ex reached out to him and he snapped at her "Don't touch me!" as well as the mini backstory that we got at the end of this volume where he came back drunk and barked at Shimana when she patted him on his head, saying things like "Women are all the same! Putting their hands all over you, touching without permission!") and how he wanted to change his name to start "afresh". Perhaps he felt "dirty/defiled," and hence with a new name, he wanted to reset his life. That's my... conspiracy theory and wild guess to his behaviour, at least. I don't have answers, only questions so hopefully, we get more development from here on instead of the same love triangle/square plot.

4/5 This series is really easy and quick to read. I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of the landlord and Shimana as a couple, specially because in this volume the age gap it’s really evident. She invites him over to the founders day festival at her school because she and her friends have a plan. She basically goes to the stage and confess her feelings towards him in front of the whole school (good for her I guess) and he was like, oh wait, I’ll give you an answer later and it was lowkey embarrassing. Plus, there’s the mystery around that English teacher. Shimana believes they used to have a relationship even though he hates women and by the end he explains how much he used to look up to her but there’s something more. By coincidence Shimana meets the teachers kid and the landlord gives her his number in case she needs help with any thing because she got a divorce about a year ago, and now she’s a single mom. On the other hand, spring break is coming and shimanas parents want her back to live with them permanently but she doesn’t want to. Zen is going to leave the house after losing Shimana and he seems more mature and calm than before but lowkey sad. I have to admit that zen is really cute and wholesome and I wish we could see more of him as a manga artist. Overall this is a really good series but the romance is kind of meh and weird and I’m not rooting for them
Wkwkwkwk... khas shoujo bangeeettt. Sudah gitu landlord nya kayak dipaksa jawab iya iya iyaaa...
Pas galau ngasih jawaban, muncul guru bahasa inggris cantik yang kayaknya sih dulu punya story sama landlord, jadi langsung jawab iya ke Shimana. Hah, yang bener siihh... Perasaan Shimana kok kayak dipermainkan. #halah...
Whatever it is, ceritanya masih sweet deh. Kasian Zen sih. Nangis patah hati tapi masih jadi sahabat yang baik buat Shimana. You deserve her more, Zen huhuhu...
the ending is leading toward a deeper point and understanding. and i like how it starts to get really deep and questioning their feelings.
okay so like the relationship in this... I’m not invested in and don’t really support.
but love zen and shimana friendship, I feel so bad for zen! he’s amazing! legit the sweetest bean ever! and his panda things are amazing! LOVE THIS GUY! and how he mature is just next level.
asahi faces though 😂 his •_• faces are just the best, you could find a lot of them on the first few pages of this volume. the art style is so cute and I really like it, especially the funny faces or when things are exaggerated
overall, the relationship did hindered my enjoyment of this volume but I still really enjoy the character (individually).
