Torn between love and duty--the betrayal of a sacred vow follows one woman scorned to the ends of the Earth in search of peace, promise, and purpose. For Ovidia has much to do as a member of the Paranormal Research and Rescue Institute. Having lost her fiance to the duty of his crown, she is struck to find him not only back in her life but her partner on a dangerous mission. Now centuries in the past in 1718, Ovidia must set aside her feelings and the lingering sting of betrayal in order to track down a missing siren and return her to a mysterious and ancient island that few have found--or lived to tell the tale. Even with the odd companionship of pirates around her, Ovidia finds Erik to be the one she trusts the least--no matter how her heart aches for him. With danger on the horizon, Ovidia sets sail for the adventure of a lifetime--one that will challenge her mind and her heart, as she fights to navigate the churning seas ahead and follow her inner compass wherever it may lead.
I love your books. I live the action, the suspense. Everything about them. I cannot wait to buy the 3rd one. Thank you so much for being a great writer.
THE BLACKBEARD FILES was a reasonable installment in this particular series. The characters were formidably mature compared to the previous offering. Edwards also interlinked some charming elements with mermaids, the unnatural realm, and comparatively speaking, spiced up the primordial Valkyrie passages.
Overall, the adventure was daring, and the culminating fierceness of the antagonist suited me just fine. The reason for the four concerned the backstory regarding the shifter-in contrast, ‘The Ripper’ was more fearless and gripping. Can’t wait for #3.
This book filled in a few holes from the first but the ending seemed a bit more abrupt than the last. I anticipated a cliffhanger that lead into book 3, but it seems to just move along in one direction. I did enjoy this and glad we could learn more of the characters but the "happily ever after" was a little predictable...I foresaw it the moment the characters were "announced" in the story. Easy enough and quick read regardless.
I really enjoy the Institute books, good characters mystery I have read other readers say the chractersvseem like friends I agree and I want to live in the institute!
