Rescue Four #2

Carter's Flame

Rate this book
I was born into a world of wealth and privilege. My birthright was to be at the helm of one of the world’s leading energy companies. But that wasn’t my purpose in life. Sitting behind a desk of a fortune 500 isn’t what gets me going. I’ll leave that life to my brothers. No. It took me years to find my true purpose. Saving lives. Walking into the depths of hell to pull out survivors. It’s what gets me out of my bed in the morning, and eventually, it’s what led me to her.

On a day that, to her, must’ve seemed like the wrong place and wrong time, is where I met my destiny. Michelle Clarke. Our worlds collided and I knew instantly that she was mine. Everything in my life up until this point has been preparing me for her.

My childhood.

The eight years I spent in special forces.

And the last six years spent as a proud member of the Williamsport Fire Department’s Rescue 4 squad.

All of it was preparation for her. And nothing, not her reluctance, not my brother, and not even her son’s father will stand in the way of what belongs to me. My job is to rescue people and put out fires, but I will set anyone who stands in our way, ablaze. I will happily pour the gasoline and light the match and set all of this shit aflame, just to ensure she is where she belongs … with me.

Carter, a former SF soldier, becomes a firefighter with a wealthy family. Michelle is a single mom involved in a traffic accident, and Carter is the firefighter that keeps her calm. Carter and Michelle have a connection, and the saga of the arsonist in town continues. I enjoyed the Rescue Four series and enjoyed Carter and Michelle's relationship.

I loved the beautiful moment near the end. You'll know when you get there. I'm looking forward to reading about the rest of the members in the squad.

She was his flame, his heart and his love!

Michelle Clarke came to find out she and her son Diego meant the world to the former Army Special Forces Engineer Sergeant turned firefighter Carter Townsend. His mother Deborah warned her that the Townsend men, all of them, love hard and are fiercely loyal and protective. Michelle, his sugar, found out just what extincts he was willing to go through to keep she and Diego in his life.

I just fell in Love with Carter. He's the perfect man in all for wats. And just as my. as I loved his character, I equally loathed Gabriel Garcias' character. He was thoroughly disgusting. The kind of controlling predator that ached to be gotten rid of. I just loved how Carter handled him. I also loved the depth of comradery, trust and affection each fighter of Williamsport F. D. Rescue Four has for each other. Their banter with each other was quite entertaining.

Tiffany wrote very attention keeping book about a young woman torn between doing right by her son and the man she was talking hard for and keeping her controlling selfish evil ex at bay. Tiffany did it again in this book. I can see there is a good story coming up with Emmanuel Allende. I hope I'm right as I know it will be good!

If you’re looking for a single parent romance where the kid is basically nonexistent, then look no further. Diego was a prop in order to call this a single mom romance. He was in one “bonding” scene with Carter (and it wasn’t even a good one) and then the rest of the book he was with his grandma literally every weekend so Carter and the h, I don’t even remember her name, could hang out. There was no point in this being a single parent book because you literally don’t see the kid. They spend one day together with him then we’re told that oh Diego just loves Carter and he calls him every night. …when was this? Because it didn’t happen in the book we’re just told about it. This was really disappointing.
Authors please don’t bother making a book a single parent book if you’re going to make the kid be pawned off on someone literally any time the couple wants to spend time together.

DNF. I wanted to like this book after reading a sample before deciding to borrow it from KU, but I don't like Carter. I read to about 30% and it seems that Michelle has little agency. She almost lost her job because *Carter* wanted her to shirk her duties while she was at work in order to dance and play kissy face with him. Sure it can be argued that he blackmailed his brother into recanting whatever he said to Michelle's boss, but it shouldn't have come down to that in the first place. And I understand that he's supposed to be an alpha, but I need consent in order to enjoy the dynamics of the main couple's relationship. Dub-con, coercion doesn't equal consent. I really do wish that writers would dig a little deeper when writing about alphas or what they think makes someone an alpha. It shouldn't just be the man exerting power over the woman and the woman being helpless to her hormones. Ms. Patterson isn't a bad writer I just wasn't feeling the content in this particular story. I'm up for trying something else written by her.

Lawd, this isn't a good start.

She's a size 10 and "not small by anyone's definition but carried it well."
For. Fucks. Sakes.

Alright then.
OK, done. Please stop writing weak women. I do NOT enjoy women who are so independent and shoulder chipped that they can't be soft in any way. But ffs, this woman let her ex run her existence to an extent with no real reason. And the fact she refuses to TELL the man she loves is never explained.

Carter is hot. I love an alpha but his behavior was too often over the top. Growling and threatening everyone from strangers in public lines to his own brothers who he had to know were not truly interested in her. Just overboard.

And the heroine is oddly obsessed with being "big". Which I've already stated-she is not. Then we have the line about him thinking how all his training (yes, physical training) his entire life was so he would be able to tote her around. Big, Special Forces, rippling, firefighter with a size 10 woman. OK.
Overall this was still a good read if you're in the mood for an over the top alpha and pandering to a list of things and situations that make women swoon over such guys.

It was ok

This book was ok, I guess. I felt like Michelle was to weak to allow Grabiel to controlling and dictate her life because he was the father of her child. Upon the first introduction of Michelle to his wife, he said her name was Linda. Later in the book he said his wife's name was Marica. Love Carter and Diego, but I didn't like Michelle at all. I'm getting tired of these female author's portraying women as weak. There really is so strong women in this world, let's write about them Tiffany. I really did like the unanswered questions at the end, like who started those fires?

4.5 stars. First of all I really do enjoy this author's work. I dont know why i took so long to read it. Loved Carter and how he took control not allowing anyone to stand in the way of his relationship. I truelt dislike men like Gabriel he got whst he deserved. I didn't give it a full 5 star because i would have like to know the outcome of the person setting these houses on fire targeting Rescue Four. Anywho it was still a good book with lots of chemistry. I enjoyed it

Great Read!

Love the storyline, I was glad to see her ex get what he deserved. If she would have been honest with Carter, all of her grief could have been avoided. It was still some unanswered questions like who was starting these 🔥🔥🔥.

A fantastic story of love and fate....

I loved this story, I actually fell in love with Carter and his whole alpha male thing he had going!
Michelle and her son's characters were so charming they made you want an HEA for them both and Carter was their knight in shiny armour or better still a fantastically sexy fire fighter!
Gabriel Garcia was the nasty villain and his character in the book was so awful I was disappointed that he didn't die a horrible death but I do feel he deserved everything he got!
To say I enjoyed this book immensely would be an understatement, I loved it and if you like a very good read that you can just loose yourself in..... this IT!!!!!!

This is the first book that I have read by Tiffany Patterson and I am hooked! This story was awesome! I was a little frustrated with Michelle because she was really slow in revealing to Carter everything that her ex was doing and his manipulation of her life. I am glad that he got his just desserts at the end! Long overdue! I had to take breaks from my kindle in frustration! LOL! Anyway, I am glad that Carter and Michelle got their HEA!

Carter!!!!!

Tiffany never feels at giving us black FMC being protected and loved ever so lovingly. I love the Townsend men and the lengths they will go to protect what’s there’s. From the moment they met Carter and his Michelle aka “Suga” as he nicknamed her were on fire the moment they met! I love this relationship so much I don’t know how to even describe it. And don’t get me started on young Diego!!! So adorable!!! I love Tiffany’s writing I honestly can’t get enough!

Hot!

You had me at fireman! You grabbed me by the throat with special forces and turned me into a puddle of goo at the steamy love scenes!!

Carter is 100% ALPHA and although Michelle was a bit wimpy, she at least attempted to stand up for herself at the end.

I loved the family dynamics; work family and his brothers...Aaron especially! They did the typical infighting that brothers do but oh my, the ride hard for each other. Definitely my brother's keeper.

Kudos to the author!!

Yaaaasssss

This book was amazing! Carter and Michelle’s love story is sweet and steamy! Carter meets her and instantly knows she is something special. Michelle feels the same way but tries to hold out because of something going on in her personal life. I love how intensely he feels about her and I love how she stops fighting her feelings for him. This book is great and I can’t wait for the next in the series!,

This book was such a treat! Carter, our ex-Special Forces, now firefighter hero, and Michelle, the strong single mom, kept me turning pages with their sizzling chemistry and the tension that ran high from start to finish. Carter’s got that perfect mix of alpha toughness and absolute teddy-bear vibes—especially around Michelle and her adorable son, Diego.

Now, let's be real: there’s some miscommunication, but hey, what romance is complete without it? And while I would’ve loved a few more scenes showing Michelle in her boss-lady mode, she still radiates that “total baddie” energy. It’s refreshing to have a single mom in romance who feels real and relatable.

The plot? So engaging! The back-and-forth banter between the firehouse crew is pure gold, and Patterson knows how to keep the intrigue going. There are a few unanswered questions (who's starting those fires?), but it only adds to the mystery and excitement of this series.

As for spice? Oh yes, Tiffany Patterson delivers! The intimate scenes are intense, descriptive, and, well… let’s just say I’ll never look at a fireman the same way again. And can we talk about Gabriel Garcia? I was thrilled to see Carter handle this toxic ex like a pro.

In short: "Carter’s Flame" is a fantastic, drama-filled romance with heat, heart, and humor. It’s got the perfect balance of action, romance, and tension to keep you hooked. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a love story that’s as warm as it is fiery!

Rescue Me

Carter was a badass ex-special forces guy turned firefighter because he wanted to save lives - instead of taking them for a change. Michelle Clarke's life was about to change when she was involved in a terrible car accident and was saved by Carter. They were immediately drawn to other other, but Michelle had an ax hanging over her head in the form of her evil baby daddy. Oh, and did I mention that Carter used to take lives for a living?

Carter’s character didn’t have enough depth for the male lead. He was very much the embodiment of an egotistical and prideful man who hides behind his time in the military as a means of separating him from his rich and entitled family—but it didn’t. I only half believed his reasons for becoming a firefighter while getting through this book.

I think what saved it from my DNF list was Michelle and her son. She had a layered and complex background AND brought the voice or reason and logic to the story since Carter laid his lustful eyes on her while he was supposed to be focused on her rescue at the very beginning 😒. I know most won’t care for these little narrative hitches but once a book starts to put up those red-flags and go south for me there is little to be done for it to turn around.

However, I want to look into other books by this author to see what her style is really like.

This book was just doing the mostest!

Carter is WAAAAAAYYYYYYY over the top!
I can't decide if he needs anger management classes, or if he just needs to grow up, not to mention all that illegal stalkerish shit he was pulling in the beginning... I was like, ummmm... is no one else bothered by this????? 🤔 I mean, I like my cave-men types: throw-me-over-your-shoulder-and-carry-me-off-to-your-lair-to-do-naughty-and-unspeakable-things-with as much as the next gal but boo boo, there is a LINE!!!!

ALL THIS TO SAY... I wanted soooooooo badly to like this, but found myself scheming through while wondering why I don't just dnf.

It didn't do it for me. 🤷‍♀️

Good

I really enjoyed reading about this couples romance. I liked the plot, but the story was too slow for me. At times I skimmed and that's a bad thing for me when reading. I loved Carter and Michelle together, but I needed more action to move the story along. The drama with Diego ' s father was interesting and I liked when Carter's family was around, but not enough happened in their relationship to push this story past behing good to being great. Overall this was a good, enjoyable story.

Tiffany Patterson did it again. How many stars can I give a book. I lost a whole day. I could not stop reading this book until the end. I loved Carter, Michelle and Diego. Well actually I loved all the Rescue 4 guys and the entire Townsend family even Aaron. I can't wait for the next book and to read more about Carter, Michelle and Diego

Slow burn, but muy caliente...

If you want a sinuous read, this the book. The main characters are Carter and Michelle who meet through happenstance and the rest is history. You have an alpha male, crazy ex lover, and cute kid in the storyline. It is not over the top, but just the right amount insta-love that is believable. The story centers around a hot firemen! Muy caliente!

I love it!

I am in love! Carter is my new boo. He is a total bad@$$. I love his strength and his protective streak. Gabriel didn't see that coming, he got what he deserved. That should teach not to mess with a Townsend. There is some suspense. Who is targeting their squad?

Each other's flame

Carter was very persistent in his pursuit of Michelle. He was very determined and didn't let anyone or anything to stop him. I love how not only did Carter embrace Diego, but his whole family as well. Carter and Michelle were each other's flame.
