I recommend reading this series from the beginning.
The main characters in this story are 30 year old Maniac and 27 year old Wren. Maniac is the guy who likes blowing things up, if you want fireworks, he’s your man. After losing his parents, the Fallen Lords MC became his new family. Maniac is a big, grumpy guy with a heart of gold. He volunteered to protect Wren when she came to their clubhouse, needing protection from the Hell Captains (another MC club). Wren is a quiet woman, who mostly stays in her room. No one knows the extent of the abuse and trauma she suffered at the hands of the Hell Captains, until Maniac finds her in the bathtub with slashed wrists. Now, Maniac is taking care of her in a small cabin, keeping a constant watch over her. Slowly, Wren begins to heal with the help of Maniac, her friend Cora and her new friends. It isn’t easy ,but in his own gruff way, Maniac shows her that life can still be good, and that she deserves love. But the Hell Captains are searching for Wren. Can Maniac protect Wren and make her fall in love with him?
What I noticed about these stories is that most of the characters have lost their parents and had difficult childhoods. That was the case here as well. Although Maniac had actually enjoyed a happy childhood with loving parents, both of them had sadly passed away. Wren had endured a difficult upbringing and had also lost her parents. She had two best friends, Jezebel and Cora. Thanks to Cora, Wren found safety with the Fallen Lords MC. She had been abused for months by her ex-boyfriend and his MC brothers. She managed to escape them (exactly, how wasn’t explained, though I would have liked to know) but the abuse left her a shadow of her former self. I really felt for her and loved seeing how protective Maniac was toward her. He did his best to help Wren in his own way. It took time, but eventually, Wren healed. Although they were staying in a cabin in a small town, there was still interaction with the other club members and the woman. This story was more emotional than the other two, but it wasn’t particularly dark. I really liked both Wren and Maniac.
Just like in the previous stories, there were a few typos and mistakes, but nothing big. I was also left with a few question, for instance, how did Wren escape the Hell Captains, and what information did she possess that made the Hell Captains so determined to find her?
Again, I’m curious about the next story, especially since it’s about Alice and Wrecked! Two very different characters.
