Worth the Fight #5

Fighting Dirty

Rate this book
If you love the MMA romances of Vi Keeland and Kendall Ryan, Sidney Halston’s Worth the Fight series will knock your socks off! In Fighting Dirty, a geek-chic cage fighter proves that appearances can be deceiving . . . and oh-so-tempting.

With his preppy clothes and horn-rimmed glasses, Enzo Silva is the last dude anyone expects to find in a mixed martial arts gym. A wealthy Brazilian banker who never had to fight for anything, Enzo’s stuck in the amateur circuit—but he burns to make the pros. Maybe that explains the heat he feels whenever he’s around Jamie Lynn Calhoun. The pint-size, magenta-haired bartender with the Texas drawl is everything he’s not . . . and everything he craves.

Tough as nails and independent to a fault, Jamie Lynn—JL to her friends—works hard to pay her bills and keep life simple. Enzo is doing his best to complicate that. Even though she likes to bust his balls, he’s got some kind of a nerdy-hot vibe that makes JL wonder if she might finally be able to let her guard down. It might do the boy some good to spend some time in her world, where blood, sweat, and victory are as sweet as the first taste of real love.

★4.5 Fighting Dirty Stars★

"Sunshine and butterflies was all that floated above her. A world where maybe the poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks got a happily ever after."

description

Fighting Dirty is the fifth book in the Worth the Fight Series. Although there are several characters that crossover throughout the series, each book can be read as a stand alone. In Laid Out, the fourth book in the series, we were introduced to JL and Enzo. This is their story.
description
"She was the type of woman who ate street vendor foods, who didn't plan things, who liked to dip her feet into the ocean just to think."

JL is a spunky foul mouthed artist who works as a bartender. She has an "easy breezy" mentality about life and love. Despite her difficult upbringing, she has transformed into a strong independent woman. With the love and support of her twin brother, she lives life without boundaries. She has always felt an attraction to Enzo (a Brazilian Business Man) who works out at her brother's gym. Enzo is equally attracted to JL. Even thought they are complete opposites, the interest and attraction continues to build. After incessant requests for a date, JL eventually concedes and Enzo and JL begin the "ride of their lives".

description

Recently divorced, Enzo lives the "clean life" of a business professional. Carrying on his family business has allowed him many luxuries. Although Enzo has plenty of money and wealth, it is JL's easy personality that inspires him to break away from his mundane life. JL is the catalyst and inspiration Enzo needs to break free! When Enzo is consumed by JL, it is like the blind man that could now see!

"I just had a little sip of you, and now I can't get you out of my senses and I will not be able to sleep or work, or basically do anything until I get to taste you. Completely. Thoroughly. Selfishly."-Enzo

description
description
"Sugar, if your definition of letting loose, is to give me orgasms and talk dirty to me, I'll take it."

Fighting Dirty was an extremely enjoyable read. Told in dual POV, the characters were extremely likable and both experienced a great transformation throughout the story. Although the theme of "opposites attract" is a popular trend in writing today, this was a highly entertaining read. The characters were complex and well developed throughout. Some elements were slightly predictable and yet, the tenderness of the two main characters kept me engaged the entire read. The sexual chemistry between JL and Enzo was explosive and paired well with the emotional connection. The fighter element is not the forefront in the story but instead it serves to enhance the transformation of Enzo and JL.

description

"I'm right where I'm meant to be. You are my life."-Enzo
descriptiondescription

I highly recommend Fighting Dirty to all of my "fighter romance friends". This is a light and delicious read that is sure to put a smile on your face and make your heart beat just a little faster! I look forward to the next book in the series as I am certain Ms. Halston will create another knock out!

A complete swoony escape! It’s fun, sweet and deliciously sexy story about a woman who is tough and confident on the outside but soft, caring and yes a bit damaged on the inside and very predictable and too uptight man who discovered that even though they came from two very different worlds they were perfect for each other.
“I’m exactly with the right girl. I’m glad you gave me a chance to show you I can be the right guy.”

Lorenzo Silva has always been a by the rules kind of guy. He’s neat and tidy and from the handsome, preppy looks of him the last place you’d think to see him is in a MMA gym where his neatly pressed designer suits could get wrinkled, much less trying to get a date with a tatted pixie-size bartender for over a year. But Jamie Lynn is what he wants and he’s determined to get her to accept. But he never expected this completely confident woman to tilt his world on its axis during the longest date ever. Can he hold on to this sense of peace and happiness he only experiences with the very refreshing JL?
“Fun and spontaneous isn’t something I’m very comfortable with.”

Even though JL has led a difficult life and knows she has some baggage, it hasn’t stopped her from living it to the fullest. She’s her own person and refuses to let her hardships define her. She presents a tough, self-assured front, living by the “fake it ‘till you make it” motto. But the resolved, sexy-nerdy Enzo makes her feel like she could drop her guard and tell him all her secrets. If he’s willing to live in her world for a few hours, she might just let her walls down long enough for him to take root in her heart.
“She was impulsive and fast, he was slow and methodical.”

Each book in this series keeps getting better and JL and Enzo’s story was no different, I’m certain that their story is now my favorite especially since I really wanted to get to know the fun loving, care free JL and snobbish, uptight Enzo for a while.
“I can’t get you out of my senses and I will not be able to sleep or work, or basically do anything, until I get to taste you. Completely. Thoroughly. Selfishly.”

I wasn’t completely sure that I liked the fact that Enzo was married, but his loveless marriage was finalized right at the beginning of the book. After knowing the reasons for the separation I was happy along with him that he was done with that part of his life and that he finally convinced Jamie Lynn to go out with him, even if it had more to do with some out of character male modeling.

Since JL was in charge of their date, it followed her fly by the seat of her pants philosophy where she pushed Enzo beyond his limits. It was great because she tried new things as well and it turned into an incredibly fun and intimately revealing four day long tryst neither one of them expected or wanted to come to an end because it felt comfortable, natural and right.
“The way she was bubbly and excited about the little things in life was so refreshing and made him want to see life through her eyes… nothing seemed to bring her down. It made him want to stay inside that bubble of hers and shield away anything that made her unhappy. But at the same time, he wanted to absorb all her positive energy and gather strength from it.”

Although this series has a Mixed Martial Arts backdrop, this and every story is very character driven. In Fighting Dirty I loved both characters equally. Jamie Lynn is a perfect balance between brave, spunky, spontaneous and yet vulnerable enough to want a happy ever after. I think just being in her orbit would make anyone smile. Even though her past broke my heart more than once, she rarely let it drag her down because she was a fighter, a survivor.
“This is you, baby. You’re that chick, the badass tattooed pixie, and you’re also the soft sweet girl who’s afraid of the dark and of heights. I like them both, Jamie Lynn. A lot. More than I should. More than I thought I would.”

Enzo’s attractiveness was not enough to disguise his stuffy, responsible persona. But once he got an opening to go out with JL, I loved that he was willing to go along with her on whatever adventure she took him, and as he got to know her I really appreciated how he got some perspective in life. I loved that he was protective of her, that he embraced his true self and after having had a lifetime of cold, unemotional relationships he welcomed his feelings for JL with open arms.
“She lived her life to the fullest which made him see that he wasn’t living his life at all. He was shackled to his family who he would probably never be able to please anyway.”

I really enjoyed how, even if a bit rapidly, their relationship developed, it’s funny, charming and touching. From the way JL made him relax, laugh and appreciated his passion, to the way he saw her beyond her outer façade, understood her and wanted to protect her completely, to their playful banter and off the charts blistering chemistry. They were a perfect fit balancing each other.
“Defile. Good word… Is that what you’d like to do? Defile me?” “Baby, you’ve got no idea.” He stood and helped her up. “Then we better get going… Let the defiling begin!”

Having the very comedic Bird back along with all the secondary characters topped off the story wonderfully. I can’t wait to see how the next chapter in the Worth the Fight unfolds with the interesting turn of events described in the epilogue.

Book Facts: Fighting Dirty is book #5 in the Worth the Fight series by Sidney Halston. It’s written from both points of view. It can be read as a standalone with interconnecting characters from previous book. The story has a happy ending. No cliffhanger. No cheating.

4 Lose the suit and get in the ring Stars

Lorenzo Silva has been after Jamie Lynn Calhoun for a date for what seems like forever. Every time he asks her to go to dinner she blows him off and says she already has "plans." But after they share an explosive kiss and his relentless pursuit continues, JL finally gives in, thinking that a guy in a suit will never be interested in more than one night with a girl like her.

Jamie Lynn is the complete opposite of Enzo. He wears a suit and has more money than he knows what to do with, while she has a different hair color every week, tattoo's and works in a bar. When she accepted the date Jamie Lynn never thought that it would lead to more, but after a whole day together, a run in with the law, and some heat between the sheets, now she's no longer sure she wants him to leave her alone.

I got this book on NetGalley awhile ago and for some crazy reason I left it on my shelf without reading it. I have no idea what led to that decision but I am heavily regretting it now because this book was amazing and did not deserve to be kept waiting.

I loved finally getting Enzo and JL's story and I knew it would be just as crazy as it was. They were so different yet they fit perfectly together. I loved that JL was able to get Enzo out of his nice, neat little shell and made him live a little.

Their first date was by far my favorite first date in the history of romance books and I would re-read this book just to get that part all over again. It was so crazy and fun and really showed the differences between the characters, but also how those differences are what made them an amazing couple.

Enzo wasn't nearly as uptight as I thought he would be and we got to see him really come into his true self within this book. He came from a rich family where making money and doing business was the number one priority but we got the part of him that was more than business, and that had a passion for MMA, and was sexy as all get out.

Jamie Lynn was the fun and crazy girl that we saw in the previous books, and that didn't change, but we got to see a whole different side to her in this book. She was vulnerable, and scared behind that tough girl attitude, and I felt like her character got so much better when we were shown those parts to her. Plus, she found the perfect protector in Enzo ;)

Overall, this book was amazing just like the rest of the series and I will definitely not be letting anymore Sidney Halston books wait on a shelf. Next up is Travis and OMG I cannot wait to get his story!

Narrator Review:
My biggest hang ups on an audible book are 1) how a female narrates a male voice and 2) can I distinguish when they switch between characters. 3) accents. Lacy Laurel did a great job. I have no complaints to her Enzo voice and she did a wonderful job distinguishing between the switch in characters. If I had one critic, it's a small one. She did a wonderful Brazilian accent but I didn't really get a southern vibe to her JL character. Overall, it's not something that affected my enjoyment of the story.

Story Review:
90% of my love for this story rests all on Enzo. I loved him. He was such a sweetheart. He never gave up on JL, constantly asking her out when she kept turning him down. I love his tenacity for when he wanted something but he was not over the top with it. He truly was a sweetheart and he would have charmed me out of everything if I met this guy in real life.

I don't know what the heck is wrong with JL for turning Enzo down for almost a year. She's cray cray. You do learn about her past and the reason she put up walls. It is sad and does explain her hesitancy so I was glad when she finally let him in. For what she has been through, Enzo is the perfect man for her to end up with.

Do to the cover and title of this book, I really expected this to be heavy on the MMA, however it's not. He talks about it being something he loves and he trains at a club but we don't actually get a fight until the very end. It wasn't the main focus of the story if that is what you are expecting. I have not read the previous titles in the series and maybe they are more heavy on the sport.

He looks like a nerd. He is filthy rich, divorced and has a dream, to be a rock solid, professional MMA fighter. When a tiny spitfire of a woman, who does what she wants, when she wants takes him to the mat, will his heart go down for the count?

Enzo and JL, as different as night and day, and yet, their sizzling chemistry is one of erotic dreams as she teaches him to learn to take life by the horns and go with it because you only go around once, keep it simple, keep it fun and live it to the fullest. Have they found the recipe to success in love or will their worlds never quite fit together? She is a shot and beer kind of girl, he is tuxedos and champagne, let the fun begin!

Fighting Dirty Sidney Halston is hot, sensual and filled with attitude, mostly JL’s! Great dialogue, tentative love, dreams shattered, some major deceit and damaged characters, sound like a knock out read to me!

I keep coming back for more. Maybe it's the dirty talking?

SO many 'fighter' books out there to choose from and yet every time I see a new book in this series I'm excited all over again. I know that there will be interesting characters, dirty talking, and a story I can savor. This one was no exception.

Enzo Silva came from money. He loved his family but he didn't want to follow the path already in place for him. He had dreams of his own and was following them, one bout at a time. He didn't need any distractions but there was something about Jamie Lynn Calhoun that tantalized him. Yes, she was his best friend's sister. Yes, he knew he should stay away. He knew all about bucking the rules, though, and there was something about JL that he couldn't resist...

JL seems to be the poster child for rule breaking with her tough exterior and hair color she changes with the wind. There are hidden depths, though, and Enzo is determined to find out what they are.

Dirty talker? Did I mention that already? If not, it bears repeating. More than once or twice… Enzo is muscles hidden beneath a three piece suit, and that's not the only thing that sets him apart. JL is not an obvious choice for him but the two mix and mesh in and out of the sack. There are fireworks and disagreements—they are very strong personalities after all—but I loved their emotional journey to something real and meaningful. There was laugh out loud humor and scorching sexual romps, with friendships surrounding and supporting them through it all.

Another great addition to the series! ~ Diane, 4 stars

I loved this book!!! JL is a kick-ass heroine. She's strong, has a tough attitude and she knows how to have fun. Enzo is recently divorced and for the last year he has had his sights set on JL. Every time he's asked her out, she's turned him down. Enzo is too stuffy, always dressed perfectly, but JL knows how to help him loosen up. When these two get together - there is amazing chemistry, great banter and a story that I just couldn't put down. I really loved these characters! This is one of the best series I have ever read - each book is a standalone but they are all so good I recommend reading them all. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Another great addition to this series. Loved it. Enzo and JL were amazing together. Boy could that girl eat. Next up I'm guessing is her brother Travis and Penny. I'm wondering how much longer Penny can keep her secret. And I still wanna know more about Iggy.

Another amazing story in the Worth the Fight series! Enzo and JL have been skating around each other in the last couple of stories and now we have theirs. I love the balance these two characters brought to each other. Enzo was always so stuffy and uptight but JL brings out his more carefree adventurous side. JL is one tough cookie. Growing up the way she did she had to be but Enzo brings out a softer side to her. Their relationship is a struggle from the beginning but definitely worth the fight!

This author and series has quickly become one of my favorites. I definitely recommend this book!

MMA romance fans beware, you won’t want to put this book down.

Enzo, recent divorcee, asks out J. L. ending in 4 days of a marathon of blazing sexual chemistry. But once the date ends, reality sets in.

This is Enzo’s and J. L.’s love story, a rocky romance worth fighting for.

Enjoyable and entertaining, Fighting Dirty was a surprising MMA romance gem.

Fighting Dirty was my first book by Sidney Halston. And to be honest, I'm not all that inclined to read anymore.

I didn't particularly like the heroine, JL. I thought she was selfish, judgemental, and secretive. I also didn't quite get why Enzo was described as "nerdy" some much throughout the book. The author seemed to stress his "nerdyness" because he 1) has a job 2) wears glasses 3) wears suits to work. Umm... I don't get it. Then JL's nickname for Enzo is "Pretty Boy", none of this fits the sexy Brazilian MMA fighter that Enzo supposedly is...

Just wasn't a fan of the main characters in this book.

Rating: 2 out of 5

~ 5 Pretty Boy Stars ~

Fighting Dirty is the 5th book in Sidney Halston's Worth the Fight Series. This is one of my favorite MMA series. I have read all the books so far and have really enjoyed each of them. I have to be honest this book was probably my second favorite of the series. This one brought me back to what I loved the most about this series.

I was sucked into this story right from the beginning and the storyline was interesting enough to keep my attention all the way to the last page. I loved Enzo and Jamie Lynn almost as much as I loved Chrissy and Jack. This book was the perfection mix of humor, sex, and MMA fighting. I thought the characters were well developed. We learned a lot about these two in this book. I love when a book can tap into so many different emotions throughout the book.

I thought the pace of the book was really good, it's a fairly quick read but nothing was rushed and I think just enough information was given without it being too much causing it to drag on. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, because as with the other book in this series, the next book is about another character. This book is a complete story with an great epilogue. (Which, I'm guessing, actually sets up for the next book.) We were introduced to a couple new characters so I'm not exactly sure who the next book will be about.

In this book the focus is on Enzo (Francesca's Cousin) and Jamie Lynn (JL)(Violet's friend and Travis's Twin Sister) We met JL back in the first book in the series but she has always been a side character. Now she takes center stage and we get to see truly how feisty she can be. I loved her character. She was strong and sassy, but still vulnerable and sweet. All JL was looking for was for someone to love her. She had a crappy mom growing up, all she did was yell and belittle JL as she was growing up and when a tragic event happened to JL in high school, she gave no support what so ever. But even after all of this JL was able to move on and build a decent life for herself, with the support of Travis. Enzo comes to Tarpon Springs for business reasons and to be by his cousin, and also to train to be a MMA fighter. This is how he meets JL. JL and Enzo are complete opposites, but that is what draws them to each other. I thought these two were the perfect fit. Kind of like the ying and yang. They brought out the best in each other. They also had amazing chemistry.

I truly enjoyed that we got to see some of the past characters from this series. It's always nice catching up with them and see how things progressed. What I liked though, was that they weren't the focus of the story. This truly was Enzo and JL's story. I am looking forward to getting to know Peggy, Iggy and Travis more. I think they all will have interesting stories to tell.

I would recommend this book to everyone who is a fan of MMA love stories or is just looking for that perfect mix of humor, love and sex.

I came in pretty late to the series and haven’t had the chance to rectify not reading the previous book and actually missed the one before this one as well for some reason. However I enjoyed the first installement I read in this series and was definitely wanting more. SO I dove into Fighting Dirty unaware whose story I was reading.

Enzo De Silva was defintely not the man I was expecting. He fits more the rich billionaire type with his clothes and work life. However a discover of martial arts has lead him to path he is on now. A business man by day and amateur fighter at night wanting the chance to turn pro. He wants to prove himself and he thinks that the only way he can to get the new life he wants that includes Jamie Lyn (JL) the pocket rocket bartender from Texas who he can’t get out of his head.

JL is a bartender by day and foul mouthed artist by night who all about the easy breezy lifestyle. Despite her challenges in life with her mother who has a problem . She managed to turn into a strong independent woman who doesn’t need a man like Enzo in her life . Friends and her twin brother are enough for her but Enzo keeps persisting . As they say opposites do attraction and despite they both fighting it. They both have attraction to each other but JL has always held out until now.

The book kicks off with her finally relenting to a date as things are finally changing for both of them. Enzo is finally free of his ex and JL is a breath of fresh that he needs. Life may have gotten stale for him and now what was the most important for him. Has become the least, JL is changing things for him and is seems like a good thing.

With ever good change there has to be a cost. Hence where the title Fighting Dirty comes into play as it never going to be home run to happiness and more. There going to be a fight to the end

Told from dual POV of views, the authors takes us on a journey was they discover whether it is worth fighting for what they want or is there a bigger picture. Whilst this book was good and did feature some familiar characters, it felt there was a less focus on what this series was all about MMA. It did definitely fit the Worth the Fight mould with the hero and heroine both fighting for causes that they believe in. I would love the story to encompass a bit more sport in the story as this is supposed to be a sport series.

Though that aside. The story did deliver and held my interest despite the slight stray from the usual. It was interesting turn in the series and I do hope there will be more of what made me fell in the love in the series in the first place in the next installment

4.5 Stars for the fifth book in this series

As I have been reading these books, Enzo never really had me curious but J.L, definitely wanted to know more about her. J.L. seems tough as rocks, with a feisty spirit and hair the color of rainbow brite. She is the tatted up heroine and Enzo is actually the sleek, suave unmarked man who wants to see more of her tattoos.

Aside from their connection through the gym, the two definitely come from different backgrounds. For whatever reason, J.L. puts her hesitations aside and gives Enzo one date which ends up lasting four days. Yep, their chemistry is so good, one night wasn't enough for either of them. Enzo wants more, but J.L. has secrets which have her holding back. I absolutely love J.L. She is the first heroine who truly has a story that is believable, traumatic, and explains why she is the way she is. As J.L. comes to trust Enzo, she lets him in and reveals her darkest secrets, her desires. Enzo just has to figure out how to not ruin J.L.'s dreams while still doing his job and keeping his family happy.

My only deduction for the story is the situation Enzo and J.L. find themselves in. While I can see how accidents and mistakes happen, but this is 2015 and it is something that can be easily addressed the following day. I'm just not a fan when that becomes a part of the couple coming together, though I have a feeling Enzo would be into J.L. for the long haul.

The story with J.L. and Travis' mom adds another dimension to the story I found enjoyable. It really highlighted J.L. sweet and hopeful side, so contrary to how she has come across in other books. It's also nice how all the other former characters are part of the story. This series has been really great so far and I can't wait to see what happens between Travis and Penny. Penny, like J.L. is a character that has me intrigued and I can't wait to hear her story.

Enzo Silva is infatuated with quirky tiny multi colored hair and full of sass, Jamie Lynn Calhoun. Jamie Lynn is a woman who wears many different hats and Enzo is trying to crack through and get hr to go out on a date with him.

Jamie Lynn is attracted to Enzo, but he is everything she is not. He has a stuffy exterior with his suits and glasses. When Jamie Lynn relents and accepts a date with Enzo, she navigates it and Enzo holds on for the ride. For as much as Jamie Lynn is complex, Enzo has his own desires and together they find themselves building something. However, others are not exactly happy with Enzo's new plans and he needs to make a decision on what means more to him.

Already a big fan of Sidney Halston and this did not disappoint. Loved how Jamie Lynn cracked through Enzo's exterior. If you want to be swept away on a wild romance story this is one to get right away. Highly entertaining.

A man has to do what a man has to do to keep his woman same, “I told you to look at me. Don’t look down.” Again his voice was firm but the playfulness returned just as fast. “I mean, really, don’t you want to look at my a**?” JL is a one of a kind woman, she's always doing the unexpected, “I’ve also never high-fived a woman while my ***k’s still partially inside of her.” Enzo is a smart man he knows when to back down from his woman, “no, baby! That’s not what I meant. What I meant was that maybe if you—” He blew out a breath. “I don’t know what I meant. You look beautiful. I don’t know why your clothes don’t fit.” The men in this series make your heart melt, I love them and the women they fall in love with.

Fighting Dirty is the 5th novel in Sidney Halston’s Worth the Fight series. It is full length, with an HEA, and no cliffhanger. The story is told from a third person point of view between the two main characters.

While it was very well written, and the plot was intriguing I personally found Fighting Dirty one of those books that is just middle of the road for me. Nothing stood out to extreme measures. To name a few of the things I did like; I loved the hero’s nickname. I don’t think it is a name one hears often enough and to be fair, it is exactly why I picked up this ARC. Furthermore, I found the main heroines “hobby” interesting. It’s not something I could share though without giving out a huge spoilers. Mind you, it is also not a hobby I’d read about before.

The characters are well rounded and I somewhat wonder if I would have benefited reading the other books in this series to get more of a background about these two. I can’t for certain say it is a standalone novel, due to that, but I didn’t seem to miss anything by jumping into the middle of the series.

Overall, a great three star read. One of those books you can curl up with and escape, while not having to put much though into.

This is book 5 in the Worth the Fight series and we have Enzo & Jamie Lynn’s book.
Enzo Silva is finally divorced, he is someone who is always in a suit, very well dressed and clean shaven and designer type of man—NOT someone you would see at the local MMA but at the gym he is – He has been after Jamie Lynn Calhoun for some time. Something about Jamie Lynn Calhoun drives him crazy. He has been after her for some time and now that he is divorced, he will have her in his life. After they share this kiss that sets them both on fire, Jaime Lynn “JL” finally gives him and thinks well, he is just doing this to get her out of his system.
Jamie Lynn is the exact opposite of Enzo, she doesn’t follow rules, she changes her hair color, works in a bar, does what she wants when she wants yet when it comes to Enzo, something about him calls to the very fiber of her being. When she finally accepts the date with him she never expected it would lead to anything more but it did and the twists and turns that occur; what I love is seeing how JL gets Enzo to experience life thru her eyes and open up yet at the same time Enzo gets JL to see that he is a good man and worth taking a chance on. And OMG the sex between them was HOT!!! And intense—the chemistry was off the charts. The ending was wonderful and now that I know that Travis’s story is next I cannot wait for the next Worth the Fight story.

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

I really like a romance where they don't rush into anything. The fact that Enzo asked out Jamie List repeatedly for a year only to be turned down was a really good set-up. Enzo being from a rich family, always dressed and pressed just so was a turn off for Jamie Lynn. Seeing him in a different light gave her the push to finally go on a date with him.

Jamie Lynn doesn't do just a regular date and takes him on a wild ride with them breaking and entering a library and almost getting caught. Enzo likes that on any given day Jamie Lynn will have a different color hair than the day before, that even though she is tough and sassy there is a soft side to her. She has had a rough childhood and she overcame.

I didn't have any issues with the story and that is usually not the case. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Let me start off by saying that although I learned to tolerate her after her backstory developed, I am definitely not a JL fan. She has her moments but for the most part she just has some growing to do. I spent most of the book looking for some sign that there was more to her. Enzo on the other hand is a treasure. Love his personality even taking into account his reserved, somewhat stick in the mud incidents. When they get down and dirty, Enzo's sexy side is on display and it's SO worth it. I like the set up for Penny's story. Looking forward to the next.

Fighting Dirty is the second book that I have read by Sidney Halston, and I loved this one just as much as the first one. I love romances in which the characters are complete opposites, yet they feel a strong pull toward one another. I have to say this one is one of my all-time favorites. I must add that I love the names of her titles…they perfectly reflect the story, and the name of the series is a true depiction to the books I’ve read. The couples don’t have an easy road to their HEA, but it’s worth the fight and struggle to get it!

I adored both Enzo and Jamie Lynn, but I wanted to be her BFF. She is such a spitfire. Life has knocked her down plenty of times, but she always gets back up. She should be bitter, but she isn’t. I, like Enzo, wanted “to absorb all her positive energy and gather strength from it.” She’s tiny physically, but her personality is HUGE! Her inner energy puts you under her spell…she is a person you won’t soon forget.

Now, for Enzo, he’s Mr. Straight-Laced. He comes from a rich, privileged family. You would think he has everything he wants and his life is perfect. You would be wrong. He has everything he could want except his freedom from his overbearing family, and JL gives him that. Enzo wears suits and has the sexy nerd thing going for him. Jamie Lynn is tiny, tattooed, and changes her hair as often as the wind changes direction. Yeah, you would think these two wouldn’t work, much less get along with each other. But, you would be greatly surprised. The two of them together just work!!!

The storyline is perfectly paced…the romance isn’t rushed, at least to me. All the characters are well-developed, even the secondary ones. Halston does a great job of including the characters from earlier novels which made me feel like I was visiting old friends. She does an incredible job of weaving those secondary characters into the book. She gives you just enough about the secondary characters which makes me salivate for the newest one in the series. Might there be a story about JL’s brother, Travis, and JL’s friend, Penny? I sure hope so.

I highly recommend this one and the whole series. It has a great story with angst and some twists, an emotional romance, and some pretty hot sex. What could be more perfect? Looking forward to the next one in the series.

Well what can I say; though this is only the second book I have read in the series's the is worth the read! Yes I have been reading out of order, so yes this can be read as a stand alone , with that said I will say that I suspect the flow of the books is probably much better if you read them in order.

"Fighting Dirty" is Jamie Lynn Calhoun and Lorenzo Silva story and their story is pretty much an opposites attract story.
Jamie Lynn , is the antithesis of Lorenzo , she is bold, artsy, outspoken, tattooed blue haired goth girl from the wrong side of the tracks and Lorenzo well he is the upper class son of huge business owner with his perfect teeth, perfect hair, fancy car and clothes and his trust fund. To spite being so different Lorenzo is drawn to her has been for the past year since he came to Tarpon Springs . Though Jamie is attracted to Enzo she keeps him at a distance, she knows all about pretty boys from the other side of the track and just how hurt a relationship with one will leave you!
Luckily or unuckily for Enzo he looses a bet with the guys at Worth the Fight Training acadamy when he looses a bout to Jamie's twin brother Travis, which puts him squarely in the middle of Jamie Lynn's hobby and posing nude for an art class. One which Jamie happens to take, to spite being on display for the whole class; Enzo is no quitter and even in a little robe after class tries to get Jamie to go out with him . Instead of chasing him away, his persistence has payed off Jamie asks him out . The date on her terms starts the next day but one day turns into a phenomenal hot sexy weekend that neither one wants to end .
Reality intrudes along with life's responsibilities and the weekend ends leaving each one wondering were they stand, but not for long, like opposing magnets these two can not stay separated for long. Both of them have issues with family that complicates things but what they have together is worth the fight!
This book is also worth the read!

Lorenzo or Enzo was introduced to fans of the series in the second book, Full Contact, as Francesca Silva's cousin from Brazil and MMA aficionado, while Jamie Lynn or JL was introduced in the series starter, Against the Cage, as Travis Calhoun's twin sister. While the differences between them--not just in financial status but in terms of personality as well--are obvious, it's those differences that balance Enzo and JL out. JL looks at Enzo and pegs him as a straight-laced businessman who didn't know how to relax and have fun, but it turns out that all Enzo needed was a push and JL sure as heck did a lot of pushing and prodding to get him to turn his brain off and just focus on seizing the day. On the other hand, JL came off as happy-go-lucky, but that facade masked her difficulty in fully committing to any intimate relationship.

Both Enzo and JL were so much more than I was expecting and while their relationship may have started of as fun and flirty, it belies how complex their respective lives are and how intertwining those two very different lives will prove to be far more challenging than they probably ever imagined. I loved Enzo! He was an alpha male who was willing to let go of the reins and let JL lead, but he also knew when to step in. He was sweet and was constantly taking care of JL, even when she didn't want him to. Speaking of JL, kudos to her being feisty and independent but with a softer side that simply wanted someone to love and be loved by. She refused to give up on herself or on the people that meant a lot to her, even when they had disappointed her time again. Fighting Dirty is a great four-starred addition to the Worth the Fight series. ♥

Fighting Dirty is the 5th book in Sidney Halston’s Worth the Fight Series, and is Enzo and Jamie Lynn’s story. These two characters couldn’t get any more opposite. I know the saying is cliché, but in this book the saying “opposites attract,” fits the bill to a T. Enzo comes from money and his attire and mannerisms show it. He’s always impeccably groomed and is totally hot. He’s from Brazil, but now is in the US after a failed and loveless marriage. Jamie Lynn is tough as nails, or at least that is the image she presents with her tattoos, boots, and wildly colored hair. She has also had a really tough upbringing and had an experience that changed her life, one she’d like to forget, but also one that has made her embrace her “tough girl” persona. The one thing they have in common is MMA and Worth the Fight where both Enzo ad Jamie Lynn’s twin brother Travis train. Enzo’s had a thing for Jamie Lynn for a while, and relentlessly tries to get her to go out with him. Jamie Lynn is secretly attracted to Enzo, but she also consistently shoots him down because she thinks they are too different….until one night, she finally says yes. Their relationship pushes the limits in every area and to say it is intense, is an understatement. They have their problems and have some issues they both have to work through, but they also have something that makes fighting through those issues worth it.

I enjoyed Jamie Lynn and Enzo’s story and watching their relationship develop, taking in all the things that happened in the process. Another bonus was getting to see the characters from the previous novels as well, which was great, but each book in the series can also easily be read as a standalone companion novel. Fighting Dirty is entertaining, has a lot of humorous moments, as well as some really sexy and intense ones. Fans of Sidney Halston and of this series, will enjoy Fighting Dirty.
