Text and photographs describe how several different crops, including pumpkins, apples, wheat, sugar beets, corn, potatoes, and cranberries are harvested.
Short, simple, to the point. Bright photos. Not very exciting, but probably a satisfying read for a child who has just begun to read independently. A good choice for a beginning reader to read to a younger sibling.
This is a great book for children who are just starting to learn how to read larger books. Not only is this book educational but the pictures and illustrations that go with the book are colorful and catch the readers attention. This book is great for teaching kids about the fall seasons coming and is also written as part of a series that kids can read. Though this book is rather short it is very good for kids who are just starting to read on their own. I would suggest this book for children k- 2nd. The illustrations are perfect for keeping their attention and they will also learn some things about fall along the read!
Summary: Simple text and photographs describe how several different crops, including pumpkins, apples, wheat, corn, and potatoes, are harvested by humans and by machine.
Evaluation: This is a book that would be used for younger students who are learning to read, but had great pictures to go along with the words that the students are reading. IT was a very simple book but was also very informational.
Teaching Idea: This would be a good book to read to the students about simple and complex machines that work and help to make things easier on working humans. This would also be great to read when introducing the season of fall and things to do in fall.
