Ira was born in a middle form, stuck between a human body and a wolf his entire life. After coming of age he decides to leave his birth pack and find a pack where he can find more than tolerance, but love and acceptance. What he finds is a pack that doesn’t know what to make of him, and the perfect alpha who takes a chance on him. Ira finds for the first time in his life that he wants another wolf to see him as a potential mate and he’s willing to do anything to catch his new alphas attention.
A Favorite Excerpt... Back to what I was saying—I tried rushing a bear—my Alpha does not know about that, not that anything happened, I ended up scaring the bear so badly it shit itself before it ran off. I actually made a bear shit itself—I hadn’t decided if I should be proud of that or ashamed. I think it was right up there with killing a deer with my face.
I seriously enjoyed this book! It was funny. It was loving. It was sad. I adore Ira's personality and snarky one-liners to himself. Zora is a wonderful Alpha to Ira though I wish they didn't spend so much time apart. I enjoyed meeting Ira's brother, Koda, too. I hope we meet more of his family in the future.
It's written completely in Ira's POV. The angst level is low/medium-ish.
I have one complaint... I didn't realize this ended on a cliffhanger. A really important one too. Given I enjoyed it so much I don't mind buying the second book at all except for the fact that I can't find it to purchase it! It's listed on Goodreads with quite a few reviews so I know it came out, but it's not available on Smashwords or on Amazon. I need to finish learning all there is to know about Ira.
PS After a search online I discovered the 2nd book on a website the author had posted it to under a different pen name. So if you want to continue the story and read Posing For The Omega the link is: http://lovefreenovels.com/MostPopular...
I really enjoyed the first half of this book. Ira was such a wonderful character, I was sure this whole book would be a total winner. But unfortunately the story went in a direction I didn’t like. Nothing too crazy happened, It was just hoping for a light book and then it got darker and I stopped loving it.
But what really bummed me out and dropped my rating was the fact that this book ends with a cliffhanger. Now I could have gotten over that, since the second book is already out, but then I found out the second book ends with a cliffhanger too. I don’t like cliffhangers these days. Like someone else mentioned, it feels like a ploy to sell more books.
Ira is a wolf shifter who was born in some sort of half form. He’s a 7 feet hairy ‘monster’, and his pack never really accepted him. So when he turns 20, he goes out to find a new pack that will accept him for who he is.
After two weeks in the woods he’s not so positive he’s done the right thing anymore. But just when he thinks he might have to go back home, he spots a wolf pack. This new pack is led by Zora, the alpha. Zora is fine with him joining the pack, but the rest of the wolves are not so keen on Ira joining.
But Ira will just have to show him what a good wolf he is by helping out. Or by babysitting the little ones, or by digging new dens, or by composting the garden.
When Zora tells the pack it is time for him to take a life mate, Ira thinks this could be his chance…
I LOVED Ira. He was such a crazy upbeat character that I wanted to keep him forever and ever. No matter how much he was being harassed or ridiculed, he was still looking for the silver lining. He was hilarious and sweet and just super super cute.
One thing that stood out to me, but I’m not sure how I feel about, was the utter lack of world-building in this. We don’t learn anything about this world, except that there are wolves, who can take 2 forms (or 3 like Ira), their fourth form (four legs, wolf) and their second form (two legs, human). They never bothered with clothes. I don’t think clothes existed in this world. And I don’t think humans did either. But I’m not sure. It could be that the wolf packs all lived in secluded places in the woods where no humans could find them.
I felt these shifters considered themselves more animals than human. Ira didn’t care in which form Zora had sex with him, either in his wolf or his man form. And since Ira was stuck between the two, he wasn’t fully human himself. It took some getting used to tbh. Oh, and wolves could talk in their wolf form as well in their human form. That was a bit weird, but fit the story.
I loved the storyline of Ira trying to ‘pose’ for the alpha. He wanted to become his mate, and luckily Zora really wanted that too. So when there was a contest and Ira entered it, Zora made sure Ira won. Although when Ira had to hunt and scared a deer to death with his face, that was just dumb luck (and sooooo funny).
I would have loved it if this was the whole storyline. Just Ira and Zora getting together and the pack finally accepting Ira. Oh, and the mpreg. But then we got this whole dark part where there are bloodwolves out to murder them and where they want something from Ira. It ends with a lot of questions and with Ira feeling super confused and keeping secrets from his mate. I didn’t like that, and I’m not sure I want to read the next book(s).
Too bad, because it started out so promising.
(PS, there were a TON of spelling mistakes in this book. And it takes a lot for me to notice them, so I can safely say they were excessive)
I loved this story! It was super funny and I thought it was soooo original (I also loved loved loved the cover. The goofy/dopey wolf on the cover fit the mc to a t).
My only problem with the book were a few grammar/spelling mistakes that took me out of the story- otherwise this would be a five star read for me (and probably added to my favorites list as well).
Before o say anything about this book, you need to know something about me. When it comes to comedy, 90% of the time I don’t find it funny, which is why I don’t watch comedy movies or any such thing. I like a very specific kind of comedy/funny.
So, this book was very original. Not quite like any other shifter book I have ever read. So huge props for that, cause there are a lot of shifter books out there.
The writing was great though there were quite a few errors/typos.
There is mpreg.
The main character is pretty silly, I think most people who read this story will love the main character because he is funny, but for me I didn’t get too many laughs from him. Still a sweet and caring character.
I felt like there was a lot of “talking to myself” moments in this book, and it made me want to skim every now and then.
The ending is intriguing, and that made me feel better about the book, I was quite interested in the happenings at the ending.
All in all, an enjoyable read that most people will probably enjoy more than me. I’ll probably pick up the next book eventually.
I was given this book to read after it was edited by the author. It was AMAZING. Ira is one of my favorite characters of all time. He is hilarious and his many battles are both relatable and fantastic. I love him and his relationship with squirrels. Can’t wait for more.
4.5 stars.🌟 i really liked this one. You feel so much while reading this laughter, dispare, love and hope and other things. I gotta point out this has a cliffhanger at the ending you gotta know what happens next. There was no PVO for Zora of how he felt for Ira. I think that was deeply missing from this story to make it truly fantastic. A few typos where found too. Mpreg story included. Hot knotting sexy scenes i loved the most too.🔥 Ira just wants to accepted for who he is human/wolf. At 20 he leaves his family to start his new life. Zora was an alpha and coming across Ira was werried but he welcomes Ira to pack sort of. Even a "walking tree" needs acceptance. Ira does anything to be a proper pack member.
I wasnt so sure about this story as the description was not that detailed in drawing me in. It was the cover that i thought was cute. However this book was super cute. I loved the inner monologues and the main character was pleasantly developed. Though i wish there was more character development with Zora. There are other little things that are annoying grammar wise, but i thought this was still wonderful to read. I cant wait for the next installment.
This book has a little bit of everything! Humor, danger, romance, a little bitchy drama - I loved all of it! I can't wait to find out what happens next and more about the danger threatening Ira's new pack. I also hope in the sequel there is more about Zora. I wanted to get to know him more. I feel like there is more to his character that Ira doesn't know yet.
Very cute funny start to the series, I read it in one sitting then moved on to book 2. Some spelling errors which did detract a bit but overall fun read.
This is really cute and funny and could be the start of a great story. An editor wouldn't have gone amiss though. Or just maybe just a simple spellcheck even.
I love Ira! He's so funny, and he loves squirrels! ...Loves to eat them!
But really this book is super fun. It's original and very different from the norm. I love the plot and the mystery behind what Ira is that is starting to build up. I also love the MPREG.
This is a really fun take on wolf shifters -- there is some ABO dynamics but I liked how they mostly spend time in wolf form, that they can talk in that form, and that while the omega is different he isn't weak. Also, the humor! It took me a minute to get into it but soon I grew very fond of Ira and his silly phrases. His "otherness" pulled my heartstrings for sure. And in case anyone is wondering, this is mpreg.
I have to say I wasn't a fan of how Naga was presented, as a stereotypical jealous and crazy woman, and it doesn't help to have her role be "alpha bitch" (that's actually what it's called). And she wasn't the only female character presented this way, which is too bad. At least there was Dey, but who knows where her story line is going.
Also, this book could *really* stand a good edit, the number of typos was so distracting at times and included at least one instance of misgendering the alpha by referring to him as "her" (which always makes me suspicious).
