[Craig, James] Buckland, Patrick. James Craig - Lord Craigavon. Dublin, Gill and Macmillan, 1980. 19 cm. 143 pages. Softcover. Excellent condition with only minor signs of external wear. Name of preowner on endpaper. [Gill's Irish lives]. James Craig, 1st Viscount Craigavon, PC, PC (NI) DL (8 January 1871 – 24 November 1940), was a prominent Irish unionist politician, leader of the Ulster Unionist Party and the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland. He was created a baronet in 1918 and raised to the Peerage in 1927. (Wikipedia)
The most remarkable thing about Craig is there was nothing remarkable about him. He was Prime Minister for twenty years, dominated Ulster Unionism, and his statue still looms over the lobby of Stormont. Yet he had no great intellect, no real vision: he was just a competent administrator.
This is a good wee book to give you an overview of his life.
