Derrick Tovar thought posing for a calendar would be the most adventurous thing he’d ever do—boy, was he wrong!
Derrick Tovar always played it safe. He had a secure job, a retirement plan, five and ten-year goals… When he agreed to pose in skimpy clothing for a charity calendar, he figured that was one daring, out of character opportunity for him to do. It wasn’t that big of a risk, really.
Except it almost got him killed.
He’s having a little trouble dealing with that, but he soon meets a man who makes him want to dream big and take chances.
I am a married mom of four who spends most of the day writing, either on stories or at the blog. I love to write as much as I love to read. I am generally quiet and laid back, choosing to let things slide off me rather than stick and irritate me.
And it's really hard trying to think of descriptives for myself, so I'll just let y'all e-mail me or comment at the blog if there's something specific you'd like to know, and spare you from reading a boring bio:D
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the fifth book in the series, and there are references to earlier books, but you could definitely enjoy it as a standalone - and then maybe go back and read the others.
One of the calendar models who was seriously affected by the poisoning incident, Derrick is glad to be back to his well-ordered life ... until a hot dog vendor entices him to break some more rules. This fun mix of two people with very different outlooks on life is very enjoyable, and the shifter element has a dual purpose of bringing out Derrick's more playful nature, and scenting his possible ill health.
As sexy as many of Bailey Bradford's stories, but with a rather lovely, caring side to the passion and intensity as well. I really enjoyed this installment.
Have I told you how much I am loving this Calendar Men series???? Bailey Bradford has made each story so inventive and intriguing, and we get a new romance woven right into the middle of it all!! This is Derrick-Mr. May's romantic journey with Niall, and it is a fun one!!
Derrick posed for the charity calendar and was a casualty of food poisoning on set. Months later he is still feeling the effects-but he pushes them off and excuses what his body is telling him. He has some deep seated fears that keep him from seeking more medical attention. Derrick is a financial planner and has rules..... He sets goals and is pretty regimented, not only with his finances but with his life. Things start to change when he meets the free-spirited and fun, Niall!
I loved Niall!! He was a straight-shooter and went after what he wanted! He was so fun to read about and I loved how he bit by bit, opened Derrick up! I think Niall liked a bit more structure to his life as well-so the two of them meshed really well! Yes everyone has fears and I loved how each man saw the other with open eyes and helped each other confront their fears! Derrick had quite a few stemming from the near death after the poisoning. Niall helped him see that asking for help is a strong thing to do-not one's weakness.
I loved how fun yet spicy they were together too! Derrick gets all bossy and I loved it! So did Niall too, lol!! They really clicked and that came through the writing very well! I felt their camaraderie! Their romance flowed easily and it wrapped around them both effortlessly!
Each book can be read as a standalone as they are all separate couples. But I encourage you to start from the beginning, to get the whole back story that weaves its way throughout each story! Enjoy!!
This is a cute romance with really likeable characters. The shifter park is really interesting. I like the imagery and building of it into the story. There some suspense in here that I really enjoyed. It gave some action and pace to the book. If you like shifter story’s with hot sex and a bit of suspense then you should definitely read Mr May by Bailey Bradford!
Book five in the Calendar Men series Derrick Tovar thought posing for a calendar would be the most adventurous thing he’d ever do—boy, was he wrong! Derrick Tovar has always played it safe. He had a secure job, a retirement plan, five- and ten-year goals… When he agreed to pose in skimpy clothing for a charity calendar, he figured that was one daring, out-of-character thing for him to do. It wasn’t that big a risk, really. Except it almost got him killed. He’s having a little trouble dealing with that, but he soon meets a man who makes him want to dream big and take chances.
I am absolutely loving this series! It’s full of fun, quick reads. Derrick is such a steady guy, he sort of needs the little shake up Niall brings. Niall is a fox shifter with his own gourmet hotdog cart. Derrick and he connect immediately, but like all the books in the series, there are dark forces at work along side the cute sexy romance.
Niall is a mischievous and adventurous man who is a perfect match for Derrick. Niall’s need to throw himself off high things (all be it with a bungee cord attached) don’t make any sense to Derrick, but does feed into his anxiety and nightmares. Being poisoned whilst on the charity photo shoot has left physical and mental scars that Derrick is unable to fix by himself. Cue sexy little adventurer Niall…
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The bad guys are bad, and the good guys are adorable.
Independent reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 5 in the Calendar Men series, but you don't NEED to have read the other books before this one. It would HELP though, to give you a better picture of this doomed photo shoot and what these men have suffered at the hands of Evan.
Derrick plans, and plays safe. His one adventure nearly gets him killed. Meeting Niall, who is a fox shifter, and who lives life to the fulle, knocks Derrick off his axis.
Up until this book, I was really enjoying this series but my feeling on finishing this one?? I did not like it and I have no bloody idea why!
It's a fun read, though, mostly a much lighter read than the other books, with the exception of the nutty ex. I found it a little less explicit too, but that ight just be me!
I read it in one sitting. What's here is well written and well delivered.
I just . . . . . . *ARGH* . . . . . didn't feel this one! And you know how much it pains me, when I can't put my finger on what's letting it down!
Sorry this review is short, but when I cannot word what I need to say, I start to waffle, and waffling does not a good review make.
