This is book four of The Phantom Chronicles and a 4+ star rating in my opinion. The major characters all performed their tasks well and we wind up with almost a happy ending but I will leave that to the reader. The killing and scheming seem to work out but I do have questions of a couple of the charters in my mind and can see one or more of them in a future story. This being the last book in the series I will not try to focus on any part of the story as if you have read the first three books you will want to read and absorb the details your self.
I have enjoyed reading about Chloe's journey of self discovery. Mikel is the enigmatic bad guy who seems to beyond redemption or is he? Friends become enemies and enemies become friends in an effort to survive. Chloe is the lynch pin holding it all together and I liked how the author tied up all the loose ends leaving room to write another book in the future. The story was always interesting and not bogged down by too much detail or description. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes good old fashioned adventure stories with a twist or two thrown in.
Phantom Unleashed was a fantastic ending to a great series. Chloe, Ragan, Mikel and Martha, along with all the other characters that make this book so good, were maybe even a little more awesome in this, the finale. Edge is such a superb writer that I felt like I was inside the heads of all the characters, feeling what they felt and understanding their thoughts, even Mikel's. I highly recommend this book and the whole series.
I enjoyed this final instalment of the series, which sees plenty of action, dilemmas and conclusions. I would have preferred to see more of Chloe and he4 gifts rather than soldiers fighting but the story as a whole worked well.
There was a good sense of place. suitable characters and it was well-written.
A land torn by war. A mother's desperate desire to save her child. Enemies brought together by a common enemy. Sounds so cliche. But the characters are living out the story. Playing their roles like a symphony. You can't help but cheer for the right side. Would thst life were so clear.
Awesome series! I loved how the book ends except for Mikel. The charges that came about thanks to Chloe, Ragan and their 2 friends are fantastic. Great adventures, a little romance, good guys vs bad guys ... Epic
