For years, Morgan Monet, has been protected from the streets, and the ugly truth of it until the patriarch of the Monet family dies, her father Otis who was a great man and boss of the well known, Moét Cartel.... but who did it? That’s the question she and her younger brother Emery find themselves asking, but only Emery can narrow it down to who. The Moét Cartel is the biggest, structured gang at the top of the pyramid with connections all across the states and with even the police department in their back pocket, they are untouchable. Morgan doesn’t know the dangers of being active in a Cartel and she finds herself sleeping with the one enemy, Brett, with every unknown intention to Morgan of coming into her life and ripping her family apart as her mother, Mirage sees Morgan’s relationship with Brett and uses it to her advantage as she plots against the Black Aces gang. The Black Aces gang is known for infiltrating big organizations and bringing them down to non existence, making the Moét Cartel as their next target after a deal goes wrong on the account of Mirage, but she keeps her guard up and always move one step ahead of them… grooming her daughter Morgan in full effect of being a savage like herself, but is she really cut out for the challenge as Morgan is madly in love with Brett, she’d do anything for him. She found peace in him after her father died. The life her parents lived was either be known for weakness or kill for the greater cause and that’s Mirage all time creed. Every move that she makes only gets her on the path down a dark road with no way coming back as she comes undone while she is used like a pawn to take down Brett and the Black Aces Gang. When it’s all said and done, only Mirage who carries herself as a queen of the Moét Cartel will have the last laugh.
Morgan was really a naive girl. By her living such a sheltered life she kept making bad decisions. Her mother Mirage is a piece of work. That woman is cunning and conniving. She won't stop at nothing too get what she wants even if it means to kill her own husband. Emery knows more than what they give him credit for. Will be reading the next part.
I couldnt get into this story. It seemed like something was missing from the very being & that everything was going kind of fast. The words also kept changing tense from present to past, which kind of made things hard to follow.
This book is so badass....its one of my all time favorites that Shan publishes. I cant wait till the next book in the series comes out! Women after my own heart.
