I love hello fresh recipes and although I've ordered with them before, it is a rarity. When my Mum told me she'd got a hello fresh book on the cheap, I raced over to borrow it off her. I must say I was pleasantly impressed! I didn't expect to see so many recipes I didn't recognise. The pictures are great and the instructions are clear. Nice to have some more exact quantities than those that can be found on the recipes on the website. Look forward to trying lots of them out!
An excellent book for learning main course cookery.
This is a book for people setting up home for the first time & taking on the daily ritual of cooking dinner. Some easy, simple ideas. With cheap, easily obtained ingredients, it is the answer to ‘what shall we have for dinner’ for 2 or more people. Recipes are for 2, but easily increased. If you are a more experienced cook, it is probably not for you, as many pages at the beginning of the book just show pictures of kitchen equipment & techniques. I often pay for an e-book, to check it out & then buy the hardcover if I like it. This one is not for me, but I am sure, will be used & used again by many people who want to learn to cook main meals from scratch, that are simple, quick & nutritious. It reminds me a little of Jamie Oliver-style, but with cheaper ingredients & less waste.
I can only comment on the vegetarian portion of the book.
Strong, well-tested recipes, with properly calibrated timings and sensible portions (typically made 3 servings for me, rather than advised 2). Several recipes likely to join my regular roster. Well set out with clear instructions, which you would expect from this source.
A couple of occasions when instructions were to use 3/4 of an ingredient, and then the remaining 1/4 was never mentioned again. Recipes lean toward staples with extra flourish, rather than something pushing the envelope, but that is also as advertised for this collection so not the basis for criticism, merely observation.
I always like the look of the meals advertised by Hello Fresh but wasn't prepared to pay the price as I home cook from fresh anyway. Then I saw this book. There are some really nice recipes in it, I have marked over 3/4s of them to try, the ones I have tried so far have been easy to follow, simple to make and delicious. The only reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are no nutritional values for the recipes.
I love the cooking techniques section and step-by-step “no jargon” approach. I was taught to cook by my mother (and attended some courses as an adult who loves to cook, eat and host big gatherings!) but I know lots of people the same age as me who didn’t have that level of support, this book is a non-patronising guide to cooking good food well even if you are a total beginner!
I bought this book in anticipation of healthy quick recipes and it definitely ticks that box. It’s probably aimed at the less confident cook, and so a lot of the recipes I could throw together myself. So I felt a bit disappointed until I got to the fish section, where I found some quite useful recipes.
This was on offer at £0.99 so I gave it a go. I like the idea that you are not expected to stock your cupboards with hundreds of ingredients only to throw most away months later having only used a small amount of each. Neither do they expect you to have tons of fancy expensive equipment.
Good and easy to follow recipes with products that are already in our pantry or the nearest supermarket with photos of the recipes step by step. I think i am going to cook some nice recipes from this book, love it !!
Easy to follow, well illustrated and great tasting recipes. What more could you want? Highly recommended for both experienced and not so experienced cooks.
Really clear step by step photo instructions, using basic kitchen equipment. There are a few recipes I'd like to try. However, value to me is limited as only one chapter has vegetarian dishes.
Having tried Hello fresh on and off over yhr past year or so, was delighted to see a book of there recipes and was not disappointed. Really enjoying trying out some new stuff
