To see a good day, change your perspective. Look at things in a different light. Laugh. Uncover the good that may be concealed. Let your perspective allow you to focus on the Lord. Through Him, understanding will come.

This is an AMAZING book! I loved it! I work at Deseret Book and we all passed this around amongst the employees and would just laugh at some of the stories in this book! We try to sell it to everyone because we loved it so much! Emily Freeman has this amazing ability to take a gospel concept and see it in an entirely different light! Want an example?

"Speaking of the Savior, it asks, "Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and hills in a balance? Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord?" (Isaiah 40:12-13).
I love to picture the Savior with the water of the earth cupped in one hand while the other hand spans the expanse of heaven. He knows instantly how to measure out the dust and to balance the mountains and hills. If the Savior can handle all of that, I know that He can help me balance the details of my life. If I turn to Him for help, the Spirit will direct me, and through Him answers will come." -pg. 41

I would have never gotten that out of a verse of Isaiah! Isaiah is like Greek to me! I will leave you with one of my favorite parables of hers called the Parable of the Dandelions.

"One weekend my girls and I took a drive together. We passed through acres and acres of farmland. My eyes were drawn to the overwhelming number of dandelions that had taken over the fields. The green landscape was dotted with a mixture of bright yellow flowers and white, fluffy balls of seeds. We had spent weeks trying to kill the dandelions in our own yard, and I thought about what a job that farmer would have have trying to clear those weeds from his landscape. My daughters saw something different: acres and acres of dandelion fluff just waiting to be blown from the stem. A thousand weeds or a thousand wishes. It's all in your perspective." pg. 22-23

This is a quick, easy read, nothing earth shattering, but I love the idea of "seeing" good days, not "having" good days. It all depends on our perspective, and we determine our own happiness. She gives us 12 ways to find the good in each day and be happy. I wanted a little more...maybe more experiences from her own life. I give it 3.5 stars.

There is so much power in this little book! I loved every minute of reading it. I read a chapter each morning after reading a chapter of the scriptures and every night, again after reading a chapter of the scriptures. I want to give a copy to my sisters.

Sadly, my brain is like a sieve and all the good of each chapter trickled out as soon as I shut the book. (Which is also true of the scriptures for me). :(

If I had my own copy of the book I would take the time to do what she suggests with each chapter. As the copy I read is a library book, back it goes. :)

This book reminds the reader to focus on hope, gladness, thankfulness and joy. Emily Freeman has written a poem of summation at the end which is a lovely way to consolidate the advice throughout the book. I have started a “pass it on” chain where I give it to an interested friend and after she takes what she needs from the book will pass it on to another friend and so on.

I love the concept of “seeing” good days instead of having them. Much of it is our choice! Things that stuck out to me- remembering the special days and spiritual moments, writing down the good things, the things that bring us joy, recognizing that there are hard days but looking forward to the light and clinging to Christ in the meantime and letting Him heal us.

I love this author. I love her perspective and way of looking at life. She brings scriptures that I gloss over into her life and introduces meaning and purpose to them. For me, her writing just flows and I can relate to her way of communicating.

Great little book! It is very quick and simple, which is exactly the type of book you want to read when you are down. I like here simple life analogies. She makes herself vulnerable which helps one to feel that they are okay too. And to keep on trying.

I loved her book Even This (which I read right before this one), so this one didn't speak to me nearly as much. A quick read. Good reminders and insights on perspective and "seeing" rather than "having."
