I've decided I really quite like novellas. I know a lot of readers don't but sometimes they are relaxing and fun. I can't say this is the VERY best mail order bride story I've ever read. However it fell under that relaxing read criteria I mentioned and I think I'd like to read the rest of the series. This is book 2 and I missed number 1 so I think you could read them as standalones. I was given a free ARC but my opinion is my own. Clean Read Suitable for teen readers

maud leaves her home to wed her intended and turns out he is a criminal. she finds work at the home of the town doctor. Every thing goes well once her intended is arrested. she falls for the doctor, and then everything goes wrong, first there is a fire at the mine, the doctor is inside helping burn victims and it collapses on him, then the intended shows up and plots to rob from the doctor in the middle of the night. Maud hears it and grabs the gun and shoots whoever it was. turns out to be her intended. everything turns out for the better for Maud and the Doctor. intrigue and romance all in one novel. who could ask for more.
