Bad For My Gangsta: Khadarious & Zoerina's Hood Love

Rate this book
**FULL STANDALONE NOVEL**

She’s not a good girl, but she’s not bad either. So being bad for him was never on her agenda... right?

Running away from her father’s house to live a life with her boyfriend of four years was supposed to be her perfect fairy tale ending. Until six months later, he kicked her out, forcing her to live on the streets of Detroit. Vowing to only focus on what matters, Zoerina Banks bounces back, grinds her butt off, and stacks her paper. However, it becomes easier said than done when the biggest distraction hits Ms. Banks—sending her life on a wild, uncontrollable rollercoaster.

It’s his way or no way. That’s the number one rule Khadarious ‘KD’ Dixon has always stuck by and been successful with. He’s ruthless on the streets, ruthless to his enemies, and even ruthless with his women. Even with his heavy past influence in the streets, he’s always been specific on wanting to be low-key. But being low-key when your name is always in everyone’s mouths is much easier said than done. Those that know who he is, either love him, fear him, or loathe him. And the streets always know how to lure him back in, one way or another.

He’s arrogant, spoiled, and everything she shouldn’t want in a man—everything she should be running far away from. But her attraction toward him is undeniable, undeniable and dangerous. She convinces herself that she doesn’t want anything to do with him. But who is she trying to kid?

He’s never been one with commitment. She’s never been one without it. A new hood love. An irresistible chemistry. A perfect match. But could Zoerina’s biggest enemy, turn out to be the dangerous man she’s fallen in love with?

Talk about toxic asf😳

Queen Miss Jenesequa had to have been stressed tf out during this book, cause these characters exuded toxic behaviour😔.
What happened to Khaleigh was fu**ed up. One she should've have followed her friend to rob folks houses. She most definitely should've left Raquel's greedy a** as soon as she got a bad vibe.
Tone wasn't built to be a boss, period! He was reckless asf and instead of seeking advice from Kha on how to handle ish properly he did the unthinkable. He definitely got his karma.
Poor lil Kira really thought being an internet bully was gonna get her a man that didn't see her for anything but a phuck buddy😔. She definitely got taught a valuable lesson.
Leah & Meek too that toxic ish to another level. Leah definitely needed to grow tf up telling about she didn't trust Meek for some ish he did before they had their daughter, that he repeatedly apologized for, but she trust him enough to phuck, make that ish make since🤔🙄. They both were playing games, but they got out together in the end.
Kha & Zoe TOXIC ASF!!! Now some of the ish Zoe was saying and doing called for Kha to check her a** cause heavy girl was doing the fu**ing most. At the same time, the way that he talked to her at times was definitely abusive. After all the drama was reader and the dust settled they worked it out.
Both couples needed to seek counseling🤷🏽

After reading another of this author’s books (A Love That Melted A Capo’s Cold Heart) and really loving it- I was prepped to do a full on binge into this author’s backlist. I found that a lot of the books were multipart series in the serial format where the story of a couple is told across multiple books and that isn’t my preference. So, I picked this book solely because it was one of the few from the backlist that was a complete book. To be honest, it wasn’t really my favourite thing.

Once again, I think this author writes an interesting story with great conflict and lots of drama and messiness under the mafia dark romance umbrella. My issue was with the characters this time. The premise is that Zoerina had to rebuild her life after a bad relationship where she invested all her energies and ended up homeless and she’s just on the come up as a dance influencer on social media, when she meets KD, former top gangster recently turned legit. Initially they run each other off the wrong way but they can’t escape the sparks that fly between them. My main problem is that the way KD spoke to Zoerina and treated her when she tried to leave him because of his sometimes disrespectful behaviour was filled with abuse-adjacent red flags. I found him incredibly childish and rude. I thought Zoerina deserved far far farrrrr better. I also didn’t really understand the point of her backstory within the context of this book. The book opens with a very painful and dramatic scene for Zoerina and then it never is really pertinent again- so what was the point of it. The back story served no purpose and yet it was so strong and meaningful at the start. And in this vein, Zoerina had so much promise for character development and it never came. She was kind of just very meh for someone who had gone through so much. She recognized how inappropriate KD’s behaviour was towards her and she would try to call him out on it, but then she would just fold with minimal groveling. I don’t know I wanted more for and from her.

There are also subplots taking place in this book between Zoerina’s best friend Leah and her “it’s complicated” boyfriend and baby daddy, Meek, Khaleigh and her friend, and briefly between Tone and Gabby. I also think sometimes the insertion of these side characters was a little clumsy and out of the blue. I didn’t mind having these other characters centered in the book but it was sort of arbitrary when they popped in and out and Tone and Gabby were forgotten for large swathes of the book. I think more could have been done to develop the Tone-KD relationship to make the ending more explosive.

This wasn’t a bad book at all, in fact it was eminently readable and dark romance in the way mafia romances are. My main problem however is how much KD gaslit Zoerina and threatened her. I left the book thinking- this dude will not lay down his life for her but she better be careful because in a rage he could kill them both. It felt like a very toxic relationship to me and not in a cute way. That said, if super toxic love and if-I-can’t-have-you-no-one-can dark romance is your thing, you might like this.

Standalone books, Love them. Storyline was pretty fast. Not that much over kill drama, and things happening from each others past relationships. Just trials and tribulations, and life. Zoerina past did not specify she was a dancer, (thanks for not making her a stripper) KD, was a smart man with purpose & business and not still hanging in the streets. Same with Shameek, they had real jobs,as owners with brains. Taleah as well with hair & lashes.Really Good brisk read that flowed nicely. Keep them coming....

The absolute truth....

I knew Tone was a snake, and I didn’t like him or Kira from the jump😒 Meek and Leah was funny as heck. I don’t know why he didn’t tell her crazy butt who Jasmine was in the beginning🤣 Zoe had me wanting to punch her in the face the way she begging in the beginning of the book, and when she was dogging my baby KD😊😂 “I’ma get a tattoo on my finger of a rose so when I’m....”~KD, lol, I laughed so hard I cried. I’m loving me some KD, and literally hated to see this book end😩😩 #teamKD #teamMeek

Bad for my Gangsta

I think Zoe blow everything out of portion when she blamed KD for what happened to her niece. The way she forgive Raquel she should of done the same for KD. After all it was Raquel fault the way things played out. Meek and Leah were made for each other cause they both played childish games. Glad the finally grew up.

Love standalone

Would have given more stars but the fact that you ended the book with shameek and taleah getting engaged but not kd and Zoe is just baffling to me. It ended on a positive note but need more.

ehh

I really was all into this book but about 80% in & things just wasn’t making since. Zoe was EXTREMELY annoying, like to the point I couldn’t even enjoy the happy ending. I could’ve lived another day without reading this book.

I’m not sure….

This is my 2nd read from this author and I loved I Got You so much that I wanted to read through her entire catalog. This story had a lot of promise but there was too much happening. Honestly the Raquel/Khaleigh and Tone, Hennessy plot twists were so confusing because they weren’t necessary. What was supposed to be a big plot twist fell flat. I think I would’ve liked it more if we just focused on the two couples. It just left a lot to be desired. I’m definitely still going to work my through their catalog…..this just wasn’t for me.

so glad to be back !,

I AM A HUGE FAN of miss jenesequa from wattspad days and she popped into my head when I was speaking to a client about reading being a form of self care and a good coping skill. I googled her to find out she was published and brought a book immediately and omg just like back in the day I was hooked ! Can't wait to read them all!

Barbie and KD

Whew this book. KD and Zoe, Meek and Leah, the whole can of worms that was opened by fate. These two had slick mouthpieces, but it worked. Their chemistry and the "you ain't leaving me" & "I can't live without you," had me going to the very end. The heat these two had...💯
