Treasured History by Cindy Bell is a 2014 publication.

This is the third book is the Dune House Mystery series, which features middle aged besties, Suzie and Mary who have renovated an inherited home and converted it into a quaint B&B.

As the ladies begin to welcome their first guest, a mysterious set of events leads to a grisly discovery that could put the ladies out of business before they get off the ground. In the meantime, a little romance is brewing and is thankfully going quite well, but will the ladies be able to salvage the reputation of the B&B?

I have enjoyed this series so far, mainly because the age of the two main characters and how they have embraced this time in their lives. However, this one was the weakest outing so far, and I do hope this is not an indication of how things will progress from here. The mystery didn’t start until nearly half way into the book, with the focus being on a budding romance, which is fine, but it left little room for the other areas of the story to properly develop and so the mystery was very rushed through and see through.

However, I do intend to continue with the series because everyone has a one off on occasion.

Overall this one gets a 2.5 rating

I am enjoying these quick reading series. I especially like that they are fifty something characters starting over again. I just wish the plot would have been a little deeper. I felt the conclusion was rushed without giving the characters more interaction. Overall it was a quick read.

The main character is supposed to be such a self-possessed person, but now, after fifty-odd years, she's making silly decisions, doing things that any reasonable person would not do only to find herself in trouble. Why do cozy mysteries make women so dumb especially with men?

Suzie and Mary have finally opened the Dune House and already have guests booked for the opening. Mary’s son Ben drops by to see his mom and decides to spend two days at the inn.

When their guests arrive, an odd man named Martin Cotes and a woman named Alice Montreal, Suzie checks them in and shows them to their respective rooms. But the female guest is not happy with her room saying it’s tiny when she paid for a bigger room. Later two more guests, a couple named Diana and Jim check in.

When one of the guests complains about a plumbing 🪠 problem, Suzie calls a plumber named Doug who later turns up dead after going under the Dune House to do some repairs.

Puzzled, Suzie reaches out to Louis the local librarian where she learns a bit about the history of Dune House.

Apparently, gold and other valuables were hidden during the civil war. Suzie believes whoever went under the house went looking for the gold.

So she starts questioning the guests: she believes one of them killed the plumber. Who was it?

It's finally opening day at Dune House for Suzie and Mary. They have four guests that are scheduled to stay with them, and they are very excited about it. The day before everything is scheduled to start, there is a knock at the front door, and Benjamin, Mary's son, has shown up to lend his support. The following day, the guests trickle in one by one. First is Martin, a strange duck in a three-piece suit with lots of strange equipment. He settles in and requests not to be disturbed. The next guest arrives, a snooty female who disparages everything she sees and touches. She is so displeased with her room that Mary offers her one of the deluxe suites, no extra charge. Then the woman tries to take a bath and finds that the water is "ice cold." Naturally, the plumber is on vacation, so Suzie gets the number of one who lives a few towns over. He comes out and looks under the house and says someone damaged the pipe intentionally. Read the book to find out more!

Treasured History is a quick cozy read. In this book, Suzie Allen and her good friend Mary Brent are getting ready to open Dune House as a B & B. Renovations are complete and they are expecting four guests. When some problems arise with the pipes, Suzie calls Doug the plumber for help. Things get complicated when Doug is discovered dead under the house! Mary's son Ben comes for a visit and Suzie tries to figure out how she feels about the local fisherman--Paul. This is a fun series. with likable older characters

This was a slightly different take on the one room mystery as it encompasses the entire house. I did really enjoy the way that Jason handles Suzie in this book, after all, she is the standard cozy novel heroin and doesn’t know how to deal with interrogations as that is not their job. The mystery was interesting and actually allowed us to find out a little more about the town in this book. The history of the little town is quite nice and interesting.

Wonderful characters with crazy hidden agendas arrive to stay at Dune house on opening day, they certainly keep Susie and Mary on their toes. A damaged pipe leads to another mystery to solve with at least two out four guests as suspects. A possible connection to the civil war is just one of the clues for the amateur sleuths and police detective Jason to look into. These stories only take about an hour to read but they fairly light and easy reading, well written with a little romance thrown in.

One More Great Read!

I'm really enjoying reading all about Dune House, its history and the people who lived there since the civil war. There are so many twists and turns between all the main characters, close attention needs to be used to keep everyone separate! I'm looking forward to the next installment!

A good quick read

As always, this book is filled with many unique and odd characters. Often the biggest mysteries in her books aren't in the main plot line. I love the descriptions of the locations in the book.

Of course an old house has history. That does not mean that there is treasure but of course there are rumors of gold. A poor plumber paid the price for a treasure hunters greed but of course with Suzie, Mary and Jason the culprit is found.

Another treasuring hunting mystery. It was interesting with the Civil War history and such. But to complicate matters was it was the B&B opening for Mary and Suzie, and there was a dead body. It was another quick paced mystery that I enjoyed.

Still enjoying the series

This is an appealing cozy series with a beautiful mansion as a back drop. The stories are well written and hold your interest to the end.

Another Kindle freebie, part of the 4 book boxed set Dune House Cozy Mystery. This is #3; I’m going to have to be desperate for a book to read before I tackle #4. Very weak—characters, mystery.
