About six months have gone by since Ella found out that she’s a mage in the first book, “Of Murders and Mages”. She’s been training both with her official mentor figures and with her father’s friends. This hasn’t left her much time for anything else. Even though her official mentor is Olivia, she’s too busy running the casino to train her. So, Olivia’s aunt Ann, who trains witches for a living, has taken over the training. Ann’s daughter Vanessa is training with Ella and they’ve become close friends. But currently, they’re helping at the Paranormal Cheese Convention.
Vanessa thinks that she can invent a spell that will stuff the goodie bags quicker but has only managed to make the process a lot slower – and then cause an explosion. Vanessa’s mom and brother Vin aren’t impressed and somehow Ella is the one to blame. However, a man has passed away, supposedly from natural causes and Vin takes Ella to confirm that. Ella does that with her magical powers but during her vision she finds out that another man has been murdered.
The former president of the Paranormal Cheese Council has been flattened to death by the world’s largest wedge of cheese (it’s the size of a queen bed). It seems that the man was hated by many people so there’s no shortage of suspects. However, the cheese wedge is owned by Vanessa and Vin’s great-great-grand-mother Granner who’s not happy about her business being interrupted. Vanessa is eager to investigate and drags Ella to the investigation, too.
This was a funny cozy mystery with a lot of things going on. Ella still has a lot to learn about the magical world and about her own powers. Also, the local magical law-enforcement seems to be more than a little threatening and too interested in Ella. Her father was murdered and she don’t know who did it and why, so she tries to avoid any undue attention. Also, she’s strongly attracted to Vin who has now broken up with his former girlfriend. But Vin’s dour nature doesn’t invite Ella to tell him about her emotions.
Vanessa is Ella’s faithful friend and co-investigator. Even though she has trained far longer in magic, her spells makes things explode rather than do what they’re supposed to. Patagonia is Ella’s familiar. She’s a huge black cat who seems to enjoy making Ella trip and stumble. All the mages have cats as familiars.
Granner is a funny new character. She’s around 180 years old and doesn’t allow anyone to get in the way of what she wants. She’s a shrewd businesswoman who has been running her own cheese business for a long time.
I enjoyed the zany cheeses and the mage community. Unfortunately, I don’t really care for Vin and so I don’t really care for the romance, either. Otherwise, I enjoyed this fast-paced short book.

If it isn't one thing, it's another.
With the big magical cheese convention in town things are sure to get foul. Nothing fouls things up like , " Murder."
Ella seems to finally be getting her footing after her family and magical revalations. Her training is in full affect, although she has been neglecting the studying aspect of it all. Then there is the "Vin" situation, which seems to be taking on a new vibe.
Things are going great, until they are not and the Santini and Russo family; along with a new Monza are thrown into full blown investigating mode. With reams of magic, scads of plotting, oodles of laughs and a bona fide broken heart; a killer will be revealed.
Take a ride and read along because Ella Pantagonia is about to come into a new version of herself on the narrow path.

Disappointing
I am not sure exactly what category these books are marketed as but you should not expect any sort of romantic element. I was a bit confused by that. However, the reason I gave this book three stars was because of guythe characters and poor story development. The book jumps basically six months into the future since the last book. In that time, relationships among the FMC and supporting characters have changed. The change is too abrupt and with little supporting back story. The author explained it away with a few sentences not even a full paragraph to explain it. For example, Vin went from cold enemy to crush/good friend between books. It was frustrating. Then, there was the two mysterious friends of her dad. We find out who they are at the very end of book one and book two catapults us past their getting to know each other phase DESPITE the fact that it was a frequently mentioned mystery of the first book. I was pissed before the first chapter finished. So much story was skipped over without any regard for continuity or what it looked like as a reader trying to understand the characters and their world. The one character I enjoyed was the great-great grandma. There was no incentive to be attached to or sympathize with any of the other characters. Disappointing indeed.

Cheesy Fun
Ella finally comes into her own as a fledgling Witch at the Paranormal Cheese Festival when the previous president is found murdered by (and under) the World’s Largest Cheese! She undertakes an investigation with her best friend while trying to stay under the radar, as her deceased father had kept her Witch powers a secret for reasons unknown. So despite being 28, she is at a stage when she is still going through teenage angst, crushes and not fitting in with her peers. She is still naive to much of the protocol that most young witches are brought up with!
As a result, she is flying by the seat of her pants, with very little guidance and ends up making a life-changing decision about the course of her life - to become a Monza (basically a celibate Witch) - to protect herself from scrutiny. She instantly regrets that decision, as she is in love with Vin, but I guess we will have to see how that plays out in future books!
The story is fast-paced and funny , and full of endearing characters. The magical cheeses are hilarious and the familiars have endearing personalities.

So much cheesy, and yet the writing isn't cheesy. Ella is still in training with Olivia (alongside Vanessa), and there's a dead body under Granner's (Vin's great-grandmother) 'world's largest wedge of cheese,' so she's working, too. Turns out the dead body is that of the former head of the Paranormal Cheese Council, so the marshall shows up to investigate. Ella hasn't introduced herself, which is the custom, so she tries staying under the radar, but when confronted, she says something she heard one of the sage's say to her: she's going Monza. This means a lot more than she thinks, but it gets the marshall off her back in a heartbeat...but it means she's opting to remain single to focus on her magic. Vin is less than thrilled, and Olivia and the gang aren't happy she didn't tell them. Ella has a lot to learn and little time to do it.

Ella is still trying to keep her identity secret until she knows why her father had found it necessary. She is called in to investigate another murder and discovers a body smashed under the world's largest wedge of cheese.
When she is being pressed to reveal her name to the marshal, she makes a statement, that while not knowing what it means, changes her life direction, shocking everyone in the magical community around her and drives Vin back into the arms of his ex-girlfriend.
Nikki puts the lead character through the ringer in this one. It only makes you want the next book to be released even faster to find out what the heck is going to happen next. And if there is going to be away for Ella to find happiness for her future.

Keeping a low profile isn't the easiest thing to do, especially when one has a running buddy like Vanessa, whose always winging it with her magic as she tries to come up with ways to do things which often have a tendency to cause a lot of attention.
But solving a murder was just as important in order to keep the blame from the innocent, especially when the martial only cares about making an arrest, regardless of their guilt. If only she knew ahead of time what "I follow the old ways" meant before blabbing it to a room full of people sending shock waves to all, especially to Vin. Unfortunately, when she does find out, it is too late, & besides, by maintaining that facade, was the best way to protect herself.

Cute cozy mystery. Quick read, but enough story, craziness, and magic for you to enjoy. I feel this book should be read as part of the series (Casino Witch Mysteries) because of the introductions and developments of the characters and progression of the storyline over the first 2 books. Ella….the main character, Vin…her romantic interest, Patagonia…her familiar, Vanessa…her cohort in solving crimes and learning magic, and the other fun characters…Auntie Ann, Olivia, Bear, Badger. I loved the book and highly recommend it to those who like a little magic in their lives. I am looking forward to the next books in the series.

Who and what Ella is has her looking everywhere for answers. Because she grew up thinking she was a regular human she is having trouble absorbing the training she needs to master to become a mage. This story was filled with funny and crazy situations and it was very entertaining. I feel there is more to Ella’s story and will be reading the other books in the series to find out more. More intrigue and magic to be had as Ella grows her powers. This book was well written and the twists in the story kept you wondering what was going to happen next. Highly recommend this book to all cozy mystery lovers.

Mages like cheese but one of them was murdered by it
Every one of the books in this series I had so far read had the characters filling up on sweet and gooey snacks. So to find the Mages in Rambled had a cheese convention was rather a shock.
Vanessa and Ella are studying together to be good mages . Their studies keep being interrupted by theft and murder. And as they are trained mages their spells often misfire
Ella stuns everyone by declaring she will follow the old way, to avoid an awkward question. Little does she know what she has let herself in for.
A really good read that leaves you eager to turn the page.

Foot in Mouth Leads to Interesting Plot Twist
This continues the story of Ella and her familiar, Patagonia. It a good murder mystery with its own set of interesting plot twits as well as the continued development of Ella as she learns more about her own abilities. Ella stumbles through a series of adventures and misadventures. The character development of Ella, her friends, and those who are helping her is well done.
While there is a satisfying conclusion to the story, it definitely sets up the next books in this series.

Having magic is supposed to make everything easier right? Newbie witch Ella is finding that not to be the case. While attending a supernatural cheese fest (who knew) Ella finds the former president of the Paranormal Cheese Council under a giant block of cheese and thus begins our adventure in all its cheesy goodness.
Which Mage Moved the Cheese? Is a tongue in cheek paranormal cozy mystery that will keep you guessing and giggling and rooting for Ella. I need the next book soonest.

Ella, Vin,& Vanessa are at it again! This time at the Paranormal Cheese Convention. Murder occurs with an unconventional weapon and Ella and Vanessa with their first case under their belts jump right in to this murder mystery. Ella is still in mage training while trying to find out who killed her dad & why he kept her hidden. You must read this book, it keeps you guessing with a twist at the end. You will want to see what will happen with Ella on her journey through the mage world.

Another great cozy casino murder mystery as the casino ramps up for an magical cheese exhibition and a murder occurs. There’s the usual imaginative magical spells, ingredients, humor, and mayhem as magical trainees stumble through their investigation, and several major unexpected twists in plot. Wait till you meet the creepy marshall, his side kick, and Great Granny Granner! A thoroughly enjoyable, laugh-filled read I would recommend to anyone.

A fun fanciful story about magical cheese and murder. Plenty of quirky characters and plot twists and turns made this a quick read. How could any book with a pinch of romance, a dash of humor, a bit of mystery, and a dollop of witchcraft be bad?
There’s been a murder at the Cheese Convention and Ella, Vanessa, and Vin have to try and find the killer before he/she strikes again.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
Funny, fiesty and beautiful Ella continues her journey as a witch-in-training. Still trying to stay under the radar, she attempts to help solve a murder at the Paranormal Cheese Convention. Botched spells, a "klutzy sidekick" and a public declaration that changes everything makes this read both surprising and funny. This series is well worth a read.

Starting out as a campy farce, our story gets serious as heroine Ella Marie attempts to unravel a magical murder mystery while discovering her own talents and place in the world of spells, potions and runes. The continuity of some of the characters is enhanced by having read book 1, this story can stand alone. Ella and sidekick Vanessa seem to seriously channel both Lucy and Ethel as well as Thelma and Louise. Told with a light touch and a great deal of humor!

This book is so funny and I really enjoyed reading it! Ella was a new witch in training with mages that owned a casino. A murder occurred with a big piece of cheese and Ella was brought in to help find the murderer. Vin was in the family and doing the security for the casino and was sweet on Ella. Who did the murder? Why? Money, greed, jealously, magic? Find out how the investigation goes. Good reading.

Everything I want in a witch mystery!
Ever heard of Paranormal Cheese? Ha! You’ll crave it after reading this book! Or maybe not, as it has been used as a murder weapon… Original, unique, entertaining, magical, intriguing, fun, light-hearted, original (yes I know that I’ve mentioned that before but it just is!); everything I want in a witch mystery!

Which Mage Moved the Cheese is terrific!
I enjoy cozy mysteries and lots of humor. This one is especially clever with lots of magic to balance the humor and feline familiar. Just the right blend of first love to make the pain of loss even more understandable. Enjoyable read; don't miss this one. Terrific author!

Was it murder or suicide?
Why was the victim in the convention hall? How did the massive cheese wheel fall on him? Ella is still trying to learn magic and she still trying to figure out what her father was hiding from her. She and Van track down the murderer but things get hairy. See how Ella’s life takes a turn and the painful path she must follow.

Cute
Unknown magic abounds, which is conveniently explained afterwards because our heroine is not familiar with it yet, despite her own abilities.
Quick read, but some flailing within the story as we try to figure out the what and why to the story. Quite like reading book 3 of a series without having read books 1 and 2 yet.

Keeping Her Head Above Cheese
Murder, cheeseageddon, a paranormal marshal and the ways of old. Ella has certainly put her foot in it this time and her only way out is to proclaim something which she knows nothing about. While she saves herself one way, she loses so much more than she bargained for~

Cheesie
I skipped a lot just to keep interested. I liked that her relationship with Vin was finally started to take off until it wasn't. I thought for sure they would work out their problems. After reading what book three is about and it's reviews I have decided not to read anymore of this series. I'm really disappointed

Ella has discovered she’s a message and she’s been practicing with her dad’s friends so she’s getting stronger than even anyone knows. For some reason she think she’s starting to like vin, then he does something stupid and she remembers that she doesn’t like it. The books are kind of cute this one was all about cheese 🧀 lol

“Which Mage Moved the Cheese.” Ella continues her introduction to the paranormal world. Unable to admit who she really is, she goes undercover to determine who killed the President of the Paranormal Cheese Council. A run in with the local magical Sheriff gets her into more trouble. Lots more intrique, interesting characters and action. Even a little romance. Another fine story.
