We picked up the first book in this series, Trapped in a Video Game, after my son started reading it with his cousins. They read every night before bed and he was hooked after the first few chapters. We picked up the eBook as soon as we were home, and my son devoured it. My son read it to me as part of his daily reading. He often reads well beyond the minimum 20 minutes a day. And we are already well into book three. Any book that inspires my son to keep reading when the timer goes off is a big winner in my books. And because of that it got a solid 5/5 stars from both of us.

This is the second installment in a five-book series. We are a little late to the game, in that the whole series has already been released. It just means we can read them back to back. The story was first self published in 2016, then picked up and published in 2018 by Andrews McMeel Publishing.

This is again a story about friendship, about video games, and about survival. Jesse Rigsby who hates video games. His best friend is Eric Conrad loves games and can’t wait to play the latest and greatest. And Mark who sacrificed himself in order o help them escape from Full Blast. So, when Jesse has what he thinks is a dream about a toy telling him there is a way to save Mark he jumps at the opportunity. And this lands him back in a video game, this time a mobile app. He is in a game called Go Wild It is like a cross between Pokemon Go and My Singing Monsters.

Soon Jessy is teamed up with Mister Gregory, the father of one of the kids in his class, and employee at a game development company. He needs to get Eric’s attention, and help in order to use a combination of the features of Go Wild, and their cunning to free Mark from the video game company’s servers.

In this story the risks are higher, the dangers more intense, and the ploy races along from beginning to end. And it ends on a cliff hanger. You will need to read to see all that Jessy, Eric and Mr. Gregory go through to try and save Mark. Far less gun, but a lot more monsters in this installment of the Trapped In A Video Game Series.

This is another great read in what is proving to be an excellent series. This family gives it top marks and highly recommends the book and the series!

This was clever and cute, and again my boys loved it. Maybe not quite all of the charm of the first one, but we will continue in the series. This one was a little darker and featured a Pokémon Go style of game.

Znacie grę mobilną Pokemon go?

Ja mam dwie, jedną z uniwersum Harrego Pottera a drugą z uniwersum Marvela.

Jesse Rigsby is on a mission to save his friend Mark, but first he’s got to shake the Bigfoot chasing him through the school library. And then there’s the velociraptor in the bathroom. Oh yeah, don’t forget about the ginormous flame-throwing bat in the cafeteria. Jesse’s trapped in the invisible world of Go Wild – a Pokemon Go-style mobile game – and if he doesn’t solve the mystery of what happened to Mark soon, he’s never getting back out.

Trapped in a Video Game 2 is the funny, exciting sequel to Dustin Brady's popular Trapped in a Video Game book. It's perfect for boys age 9-12, as well as anyone who loves fun, fast-paced read.

MY THOUGHTS:

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I think this book is perfect for the reluctant reader and for kids who love video games. This is the second book of the new five book series featuring Jesse, and this time, his friend Mark, whom Jesse must save once again from a video game.  There's adventure, chases, mystery and elements of surprise that will keep you interested and laughing along with the crazy antics within the pages of this book.

Once again, the dialogue in perfect and often hilarious. Although geared toward an age group of nine to twelve, I would even say it's perfect for a younger readership with help from mom or dad.

Illustrations are included, writing is laid out perfectly.

This sequel describes what happened to sixth-grader Jesse, the narrator of the original title to this series, right where that story left off. As before, this is a text novel, seasoned with just a few illustrations. Again, Jesse has found himself in the eponymous dilemma. Yet I must commend the author for the variation he came up with this time, which pays obvious homage to what was, at one point, a wildly popular augmented-reality game.

Three other characters from the prior volume have returned, including one whose fate was left up in the air in Book One, and it was satisfying for me to find Jesse and his companions seeking to resolve that character's predicament. This volume is relatively brief, action-packed (seemingly more so than Book One), suspenseful, funny, and meant to appeal to late-year elementary-school readers.

No need for excessive detail or exact logic; I could fill those in for myself whenever I felt the need arise. The aim is to just have fun with the story. While there was no gross-out element as in the original, one scenario involving a credit card no doubt proved awkward for one character -- a bizarrely inventive look at what immersion into virtual reality makes possible. The end turned out to be far more a cliffhanger on this occasion.

The book, “Trapped in a Video Game Pt 2, by Dustin Brady is a pretty good book in my opinion. My favorite Character is probably Jesse because he is a person who didn’t like video games, but now he gets to experience the fun although it is a weird way to experience the fun in the game in virtual reality type of game. The point of view of this book is really different from other books. It makes it so that others can experience the game as like you were in the same situation as him. Like such as being able to shoot stuff out of your own arm/hand would be awesome. My favorite thing that they said in this book is by Jesse, and he said, “ Does it need some sort of button.” The reason i find that so funny is that only people who don't know what they’re doing usually say that, and i always find that hilarious even it is me who has no idea what he is doing. Anyway i really like this book because I am a gamer, and I like all the views and the types of ideas of the book.

I might have enjoyed this one even more than the first book. I was glad that both Jesse and Eric were back for this installment, as I think they are a very entertaining duo of protagonists. I liked the AR game, Go Wild, which was the focus of this book, though I did think it got a little convoluted at the end when they arrived at the lab. However, the story moved quickly, and provided nice closure to the cliffhanger presented in book one. Now, we will have to read book three in order to satisfy the cliffhanger with which this book ended!

3.5 stars, physical book, read with my 6yo son.
This was a fun book, and wayyyy more enjoyable than the zombie goldfish one we finished last week. We accidentally checked out the 3rd book in this series from the library so had to quickly request the 2nd one and read it! My kiddo listened to the audio version of the first book after we got it for a dollar on Chirp, and he was excited to continue the series. He's a gamer, so this is right up his alley.

I haven't read this book yet, but I know this book will be great because, I read the first book and it was amazing. I know this will be a great book even though I haven't read it, so good thing I read the first one because, to be honest, if I didn't read the first one I wouldn't have thought the series were great. Thank god I read it.

I read this book with my 3rd grade son who is just starting to read chapter books. This is the 2nd book in the series. And although he said he didn’t like quite as much as the 1st book, it was still good and he is looking forward to the next one. It did keep him laughing in parts, and on the edge of seat waiting for what happens next in others.

I like the book because it has action and comedy to it kind of stressful the reason why is Jessie thought he got out, but he was in the world of a different video game the students at school had this game called go Wild, and they only can see Jessie and monsters in that game, so Jessie was kind of like a ghost.

This book is the second in the series. The video game is a Pokemon go style and Eric gets pulled in and this just snowball from there. It is a interesting story that me and my 10 year old are both enjoying together.
