I enjoyed the first volume more. I just can't get into the Betty and Veronica biker gang story. It's kinda cool to see all the women working together, and I like the crime drama vibe. The art was a letdown and this just seems to be lacking on something. Not bad, but just okay.

Why aren't we talking about how this volume has a half-assed human trafficking plot?

I had issues with Volume 1. I came into this with a... negative attitude. And well, it was deserved. The art isn't even close to being on par with other Archie books. Not only that, but the art and tone of the story are vastly different, which makes the whole story feel awkward. Is this a gritty gang story or a cheap girl-power gimmick? It tries to be both, and it doesn't work.

As I said with volume 1, one of my weirder irritations is the censoring of swear words. I read this right after Vampironica, a blood-filled story that swears and isn't afraid to be more mature. Vixens could benefit from committing more to a similar mature tone and matching art.

Now, I know that the Archie canon has more than enough characters. But this book, with a gang of about eight or ten characters (what does it say that I can't remember?), cannot be bothered to give anyone except Betty, Veronica, Cheryl, and Toni a chance to say anything. Instead, we meet a new gang, along with several other new characters that really don't get developed either.

I could probably say more, but I'll finish with what I started with. B+V Vixens is not the place to address human trafficking, especially with a creative team that isn't prepared to handle the word "shit." The plot appears briefly, then swerves into a cartoonish explosion. Literally. Look, I just can't feel right about a book that handles this so flippantly.

I give this book credit for trying, and for really trying to follow through on an idea. It's a shame that it could never find internal balance.

I’m not sure he’ll ever really understand… But it doesn’t matter. I made my choice.

This story begins where the first left off. “Doc” continues kidnapping the helpless women in Riverdale. First one. Then another. Time for the Vixens to step up.

We’re the Vixens.

The last panels will give you a clue on what to read next.

I loved this volume just as much as the first one! I'm so glad that Betty and Veronica got to have a series about working together with other women to protect women while also looking cool as heck and kicking butt. 10/10, I absolutely would read more B&V content like this!

3.5? Decent. Enjoyable. As with the first volume, I love the badass women. I love they're all getting a chance to shine. The art is fine. Writing is fine. I can't say I was WOWed. And I thought some of the stuff at the end was a little...saccharine.

But they're not terribly long reads, and I don't consider them a waste of time. Some of the variant covers are really stunning, too.

The art in the first few issues was so distractingly bad, it really put a damper on things for me. I don’t think the story really was that great either.

I happened to come across the first and second volume of this series while exploring the library catalog. I hadn't realized it was a thing and honestly it couldhave gone either way. Biker gangs are not my favorite topic but I do love all of these updated Archie comics and I have always loved Betty and Veronica so i gave it a shot.

In the first volume, the girls take up riding and then form a girl gang to take care of the Serpents who are causing trouble in Riverdale. It's not long after they clean up this problem that girls start to go missing locally. Nobody else seems to be paying attention so Betty and Veronica and a host of other ladies who you may or may not recognize from Archie comics decide to figure out what is going on and work to make Riverdale safe for all women.

These were pretty fun little reads and I was surprised at how serious the second volume felt. There seemed to be a marked difference between the art in the first and second volume and I always find that to be jarring. However, if you like the updated comics then you are sure to like this little run.

I enjoyed the first volume. It was fun. Something happened and this one wasn't as good. It got after-school-drama-y.

This is an alternate reality of Archie world. Here Betty and Veronica are in a biker gang and they are very tough and rough. No mention of Archie in here really.

Let me say this about some evil person borrowing from the library. I got this from the library and at someone had torn pages out of the book at the end and beginning of each chapter after the first one. Such a uncivilized thing to do. Dreadful. I'll have to report it to the library. What did the poor book do to them. At least it was something not as good, but still, you don't vandalize books!

The story arc from Volume One continous in this five-comic volume, drawing to an unexpcted conclusion. The author throws in a new complication, in the form of depraved human trafficer on top of everything else. Women go missing. The police are involved, under pressure from Veronica Lodge's connected dad, who turns out to be a cold fish, uncaring about the overall problem, missing the full scope of it. Riverdale leaves it's tidy isolation, and joins the real world. Archie and his boys do nothing. But the story moves along quickly, despite the ever escalating threats. You'll have to read it to see what dark, violent, Riverdale noir is like. Volumes One and Two, combined, have 272 pages of it.

Volume 1 was a lot better. The story in this was was all over the place and at times the art got sloppy and it took away from the experience. Cheryl was the only good part of this volume.

As Archie variants go, this premise has huge potential. But it just didn’t come together for me.
