All he wants is a second chance with the one that got away,
But there’s not one, but two bundles of joy to meet first!

SHELLEY

I wanted him for weeks,
And when it finally happened, I saw stars.
One unforgettable night with the smart, funny bartender with the floppy blond hair.
He broke my heart the very next day,
When he left for San Bravado with a million dollars in his pocket, and never looked back.
Not even when I told him I was pregnant.
Not even when I told him I was expecting twins.
When fate brought us together two years later, I knew I needed to say my piece, the words I’d be dying to say since he turned his back on me, on us.
Only now he claims he didn’t know about our babies…

MILES

She was the girl I couldn’t resist,
I couldn’t get her out of my mind.
We had one night together before I left, a cocky kid who’d just had his first taste of the good life.
But I never forgot about Shelley, her strawberry-blond hair across my navy blue pillows.
In the two years since then I’ve changed;
I’m older, wiser, and a few billion dollars richer,
But it’s lonely at the top.
I knew I had to seek her out again.
I can’t say I was surprised when she didn’t seem pleased to see me,
But the biggest surprise was still to come!

Second Chance Twins was Okay. I like both H/H Miles lane and Shelley Smith. Miles is a Tech App desigener working in a bar when he meets Shelley who works at the same bar. Shelley is an art student. They have been eyeing each other for awhile. Shelley askes him to go out for drinks. They go and can't keep there hands off each other. They have one night of passion. Miles has asked Shelley out again but then he must cancel. His App has just been bought for millions of dollars.

Miles best friend Nate is his partner and in a few years Miles App designs has made him a Billionaire.

In the meantime Shelley has found out she is pregnant and with twins. She repeatedly tries to contact Miles but is told that he doesn't have time for her or her baby. But he will send her $5000 a month to help with the her and the baby's support. Soemone is interferring.

Miles meet ups with Shelley almost 3 years later and she finally confronts him and tells him about the twins. He is shocked and Shelley realizes he never knew about the twins.

Ok what bothers me is Miles doesn't seem interested in meeting his twins. He does confront and fires the person who hide this from him. But other then that he and Shelley seem more interested in have hot sex then him meeting the chidlren. By the time he does meet them its at the end of the story. The ending is very rushed. There is no father child relationship established. The family does get there HEA. But family relationships between Miles and Shelley and there Twins was just lacking.

Very surface fluff. So Shelley and Miles have a night together right before he meets with venture capitalists. He gets the money and dips out ... leaving town the next day. Really? He didn’t have to pack? Find time to get a new place or office digs? Fine whatever. She’s - surprise - pregnant with twins. (Pursuing the backlist, it looks like this is a theme. It’s not enough to get pregnant, you have to have accidental quints. Eye roll) she calls gets the partner who promises to pass on the message and Shelley gets a “thanks but no thanks! Here’s some money monthly?” Email from “Miles” ... again eye roll, you just knew he didn’t know because Hotta would make him a terrible person right?
Two years later, they get together and she knows instantly that he didn’t know. And even though she is frustrated by his reaction, she falls into bed with him and forgives him over and over again. Grovel wasn’t good enough. The “villain” was dispatched in two pages with no emotional or business repercussions... seriously though ... your partner of two years has been keeping your babies from you and paying off the woman and there is no emotional backlash over that betrayal? Cmon.
Blah blah blah .. they get engaged and married, lesbian sister gets engaged to a woman no one has met because who wants fully rounded lives and characters, helpful mother is having an affair with a professor of a class she’s taking ... even when people are 50, the power balance is still icky. We have never mentioned before groomsmen who are “like brothers” to the groom ... I often never mention the people I’m closest too as well.
And, can we talk about the ultimate “wedding gift” of “you’re going to be a dad again”? NO. You DO NOT have the “how many kids” conversation on your wedding day and then, surprise, we’re pregnant that same day. Hi! You are adults in a long-term relationship and need to make your procreative choices together. What he would have been happy with your twins and doesn’t want another kid? Consent isn’t just for sexual activity. Ugh.
I think I just talk myself into downgrading this to a one star.

Tried to be erotic romance but fell flat. No chemistry. No tension. And the main characters were so immature as far as social interaction. What grown man says "cool"? Also, the heroine was a freaking mess. She had no self-respect.

This book sucked ass.

Shelley and Miles

Both work at restaurant/bar. He is on the verge of selling his app and she is going to school to become a curator. One night stand and he gets an investment offer in his app… and he’s a millionaire. He is rude to her and basically cuts her off right away. She finds out she is pregnant- with twins. She calls him, gets his biz partner and tells him. Biz partner proceeds to email her a payoff in Miles name never telling Miles.

2 years later she sees him at a conference and has to talk to him. It eats at her that he doesn’t want anything to do with his children. She finds out the biz partner never told him. But he’s jerky to her anyway - leads her around and the dumps her for work. He doesn’t even make a move to see the kids. I don’t know why she had sex with him again… he was a real ass until she gives the ultimatum… make a choice now. He doesn’t communicate to her that he is quitting his CEO job and making room for her … he has no contact with her.. a real genius. Then he buys a freaking mansion without asking her…

What I liked is that the story had good angst in the beginning with him cutting her off- you really felt for her. I also liked that the story didn’t focus on the pregnancy but rather the birth and then 2 years later. I liked the twins - Vincent and Frida.

Hea wedding and another pregnancy

There isn't a deep connection between the H an h, cannot relate to the h, she is too easy to forgive the H who is selfish, cold and is an a$$ ( it took him weeks to want to meet his kids!). He has no substance as a main character! Didn't like the book at all.

Hero was a prop

This story really isn't a romance. It is a love story about a single woman's love for her children, about her loving sister and about her dear, long suffering mother. It is well written, but the hero is just a prop and not a very likeable one. I have felt more warmth from the guy working the produce section of my local grocery store when he suggests the asparagus. At no time did I feel that this guy cared anything for the heroine except as a booty call. He was rarely in the story, and when he was, he was preoccupied with other things. The ONLY reason I am giving this book 3 stars is because the female characters were well written and interesting.

Shelley was working at Finnegan’s serving drinks and comfortably joking with the regulars. When the bartender, Miles, joked with her as well, she felt butterflies in her belly as she tossed back a response. But Miles seemed very distracted this evening and had uncharacteristically messed up several of the drink orders. His mind was focused on an app he was working on, and he seemed to be a step behind everything he was doing tonight. Some customers were getting annoyed.

Finally the hectic night was over and Shelley again asked Miles what was going on with him that he was so distracted. He finally disclosed that he had found an investor interested in his app. He was presenting it to them tomorrow and was terrified, despite going over and over the presentation in his head all night. So Shelley, taking the advice of customers and one of the staff, asked if he would like to relax over a drink. They had so much fun dancing and being together that she went home with him and spent the night.

Nate and Miles met with the investors bright and early the next day. The moment the presentation ended in a multimillion dollar contract, Miles had to share their success with Shelley. They made plans to go out to celebrate. She happily raced through choosing a dress and makeup. And then a text buzzed, cancelling their evening. He made it obvious that he didn’t want to continue the relationship! And when she later had news to share – she was pregnant – she told Nate so he could have Miles call her. Instead she received an email allegedly from Miles that he wanted no part of raising the child and would instead pay her money for living expenses without his involvement. Broken-hearted, she stopped bothering him. Now what would she do? How could he be so cold? And what about the fact she was carrying TWINS!

This was a really good story, setting a tone of teasing dialog throughout that made the characters come alive! It made the reader feel like part of the boisterous and comfortable crowd. It let us love Miles and Shelley. It also made us uncomfortable to see Miles not step up to give emotional support – it felt so out of character. The writing is really good, and the reader’s emotions are kept in turmoil as the plot twists and turns. Grab a copy of this book and enjoy finding out how this will ever sort out. I think you’ll find much to surprise you along the way.

Shelley has wanted Miles for awhile but hasn't felt right about making a move until she realizes that he would be gone soon. Miles really likes Shelley but has been busy working on his app to really do much of anything and then she surprises him the night before a big meeting for him. They end up having sex and then Miles disappears and Shelley tries to call him after he cancels their date but doesn't get an answer. Then some weeks pass and she starts feeling sick and goes to an on campus clinic and learns that Miles left a little something behind with her. She was pregnant. His number is disconnected so Shelley tracks down his company to find him only being told the message would be passed on. Miles never forgot Shelley but thought too much time has passed since they talked last. His business partner kept pushing women at him but all he wanted was to settle down and have a family. When Shelley doesn't hear from Miles other than an email saying he wanted nothing to do with them and he deposit some money into an account of she kept quiet about the baby so she was on her own. To make matter worse she finds out that's she having twins. Left to raising the kids on her own Shelley begins to move on until two years later at a dinner with her sister she looks up at the special speaker and its Miles. Will Shelley confront Miles about what he did? What will Miles say when he sees Shelley again?

This was a amazing story about two people given a second chance at the life that they wanted. Miles is an alpha male when he learns what has been going on. Shelley is a strong woman that rolls with whatever life throws at her. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. This was a very entertaining and well written story. Once I started I couldn't put it down until the very end. I laughed and cried as Shelley had her experiences with her children and her mother. This is definitely a must read and I would recommend it to any of my book friends.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.

2.5 stars. KU. This was barely tolerable. It had some promise at the start ~ but the “reunion” fell flat and the way Miles reacted was really bizarre. Several times. He didn’t communicate and would just sort of walk off and then do some “big thing”. Shelley has no idea what he was thinking/doing which made her into a doormat/pushover.

It’s alternating POV, but 80% is from Shelley. It might have helped to hear more from Miles. There could have been more of Miles & Shelley spending time together and more of Miles really connecting with his family. Shelley has to tackle him into spending time with the kids and that was really disappointing. It felt like a few sex scenes and then, “everything is great” without really showing how they’ve come together. And since there wasn’t a whole lot invested in their “3 years ago” relationship ~ I just wasn’t feeling them as a couple.

Oh, and there’s these bizarre little things just plopped into the story that aren’t really fleshed out. Miles has his two “best friends ever” as his groomsmen in the final chapter ~ except these guys are NEVER mentioned anywhere else in the book. Shelley has a bridesmaid that we’ve also never heard of before. Miles and Shelley talk about future children at the reception and then later that night, “surprise, I’m pregnant”. What?!?! Well, I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise since birth control in ANY form is never mentioned. But after surprise twins, why wouldn’t you talk about it BEFORE getting pregnant again.

I’ve noticed that other books in the series have better reviews, so I might continue... but this book was pretty disappointing.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Wow! What an enjoyable read. I really liked Shelly and Miles. Two people who are attracted to one another and both wondering if they should let the other know. They both work at a bar. Shelly is a college student and Miles has been working on an app he hopes to sell and start his own business. One night Shelly realizes Miles may have a buyer for his app which mean he will be leaving soon. She decides to make her move. They spend one night together and make plans to go on a date to celebrate Miles' good fortune of selling his app. Hours before their date Shelly gets a response to her text from Miles saying that he has to cancel the date. She doesn't hear from him after that and is not sure what has happened. Weeks go by and Shelly is back in school. She finds out her one night stand with Miles has resulted in her being pregnant. She tries calling him but the number is no longer valid. She calls his new company and reaches Nate, Miles' partner and has to leave him a message. Nate says he will pass it along. Later she gets an email which breaks her heart. Two years later the two meet again and find out that Nate is not the friend Miles thought he was. I wanted to slap Nate if I could. The two are able to work out what happened between them. I loved how this story unfolded and I love the HEA.

I love these two authors on their own they are fantastic but together they have the wow factor and this book proves it. Shelly and Miles have a hot night together but he leaves the next day, he left Shelly with not one but two surprises. Miles business partner Nate interferes telling Shelly that Miles isn’t interested but he doesn’t tell Miles anything about the conversation with Shelly. Miles eventually finds out about the twins and he sends Shelly money and she sends it right back to him. A few times I wanted to slap Miles around and tell him to grow the hell up but in the end he does the right thing. Shelly and Miles do have incredible chemistry together, but Miles business partner Nate he needed a punch in the head I just didn’t like him. I love it when you can get so many emotions from a story it just shows how fantastic this book really is. I loved the characters and it was a very well written story, I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

A story that is well written and has a great storyline and plot. It is captivating from first to last chapter. The characters are well described and develops nicely through the book. The steam and emotions flows of the pages and keeps you on the edge. It is written in dual POV, which gives the reader a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters. The epilogue is very welcomed, because it gives a hint about the future and I like that very much.

A story about a one night stand that turns out to become much more than that. Shelley tries to keep her life together in spite of what fate throwns in her lap. It is a very romantic story where the characters feels real and they are likeable. Miles has to grow up and become the dad his children needs.

A really amazing read of a great length that is worth the time and it is enjoyable.

Miles and Shelley are working toward getting their lives back together after one night of hot romance left Shelley with not one but two babies right at the time that Miles career took off. His friend Nate took matters into his hand to ensure that Miles did not learn about the twins so that he could focus on their tech company. When Miles learned of the deception, he was livid, but he still did not step up to the plate. Shelley gave Miles something to think about by giving back all the money she received during the course of the twin's life and telling Miles he was either all the weigh in with her on raising the kids or not at all. Miles has some decisions to make and man up will he do it in time before Shelley throw in the towel? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

A quick, easy, angst free read.
Shelly and Miles.
Co-workers who had, well hidden feelings for each other. Knowing he’s not going to stick around long, Shelly takes her chance and asks him out. One night of fun and drinking leads to a very hot night spent together. When he unexpectedly leaves the next day, she’s heartbroken, but keeps the faith that she’ll hear from him soon.
Six weeks later, still no word, and she is desperate to get in touch with him. He needs to know he’s going to be a father.
Lots of miscommunication, lies and unfortunate accidents leads to two years of separation. Two years of missing his children growing up.
It was a well written story. The characters were great.
Told in dual points of view, no angst, very little drama. And a very happy ending.

This book was one heck of a roller coaster ride!  Shelley is a very strong character who has her few moments of weakness. Miles is sexy but rather naive in his friends and in the millionaire world. These two pack a punch together but Shelley really carries this story. Emotional and real, this was a great book.  I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

What a surprise ?

Shelley and Miles worked in the same bar and had this flirting game going for some time. Miles was a code programmer waiting for his break while working at the bar. Shelley was going to college working toward her art degree. When Miles told her he had an investor who was interested in his program, Shelley asked him out because she knew he would hit it big and they would never see each other again. That is what happened, not because Miles did not want to keep in touch, but his partner never gave him her messages, especially the one that she was pregnant. Three years later they meet again and Miles got the surprise of his life.

Broke my heart.

OMG! I loved this book. It's really a rags to riches, second chance romance. Mikes and Shelley work in a bar together but he has a bigger dream. She has resisted her attraction to him and finally decides to give home a chance. Things heat up quick but the next day he is gone. His dream is about to happen and that leaves Shelley alone and carrying a very special surprise.....I won't give it all away so grab a copy. You'll love it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.

Wonderful

I don't like books where men get the female pregnant and not be responsible. The description of the book caught my attention and I purchasd the book. The characters were real. I struggled with the plot and wondered if real life happened like this. I kept reading and felt so emotional that I would stop, but kept coming back to reading. When the main characters started to click, I felt so good. I love hea endings and felt like clapping. The extra chapter made it worth reading. I will buy more books by this author.

AN EXCITING READ!!!
Smooth flowing, easy to follow, fast paced read that hooks you right from the start. Relatable, well developed characters you grow to love as the tale continues. Scenes so realistic you can almost feel it. Emotions run high with twists and turns that keep you captivated and frozen to your seat. Unpredictable surprises that hold your attention and keeps you focused on the pages. Layla did an exceptional job bringing this read to life.

Miles and Shelley shared one hot night together before he disappears. Shelley finds out she is pregnant and tries to find Miles but Nate, Miles’ partner doesn’t want him to find out. Two years down the road they meet again and find out what really happened. Can they find a way to be together now? This is a fast-paced read with plenty of drama. The chemistry is steamy and I liked the characters. A good read.

A mixture of both sad and sweet.
This story tore my heart apart for a good majority of it. These two finally get the chance with one another they’ve been holding out on forever, only to have it ripped away a day later. Then their chance at happiness and building their family together taken by a stingy ******. Grrr, I’d have beat him! Happy times finally meet them and they both get The HEA they wanted. A bar and pregnancy

Miles and Shelly worked at the same bar, Miles was always a tech person and his app finally paid off, one night with Shelly and she becomes pregnant. Miles best friend Nate never tells him Shelly called when she was pregnant. So Shelly’s decides to tell Mikes about the babies, he never goes to see the twins until Shelly tells him to make a decision then. IMO Miles was selfish and self absorb.

Good, but not good enough😒.

I think I read this book before but it was not m, but it came up as new. That being said I did not finish it this time but had to leave my review. I don't understand how some readers give great reviews when the book is sub-pa at best. I mean I may not be able to write a novel, but I love reading them. We women love to the MMC gets his come-up-ins, and it seemed as he wouldn't, so I had to bit this book goodbye @ 53%.

I like both Layla Valentine and Holly Rayner as authors and I loved them together.

This book was very good. I loved all the characters (well except the weasel) and the kids characters were awesome. I read this book in one sitting which is always a good indicator on how good it is.

Hopefully we will see more from this duo.

Second Chance Twins is a good second chance romance between Miles and Shelley. Their chemistry the first time around is hot and the second time around is fiery! The characters in this book; main and supporting are great and add to the story well. I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.
