The crew of the colony ship Soraya swim between the stars in frozen stasis. When they are awoken years before their destination, they learn that the inhospitable void of space outside the hulls is second only to the danger trapped inside with them.
The scientists of Salacia Station live, work, and sleep deep beneath the surface of the ocean planet Cerulos. But here it is they who are the aliens, and the black depths of the oceans hide monsters beyond reckoning.
3.5 Stars. I really enjoyed this book, the plot is fast, the action is good. The stories are bleak (which is what I want in Sci-Fi Horror). This has the makings of a solid 4 star book. The reason I gave it 3.5 is because of the amount of grammar mistakes I found. Maybe I got a bad copy. Maybe the Kindle version needs to be fixed? Either way, the grammatical errors consistently took me out of the story. I had to reread sentences to figure out what the author meant. Disappointing to say the least.
Soraya | Salacia is a double pack containing two stories made for science fiction horror fans. If you liked The Thing, The Shining, or even The Abyss, you will definitely really enjoy this. There is sadly not enough space and underwater horror out there these days.
I agree with another reviewer, the worldbuilding was interesting and well done.
A great book with two sci-fi horror stories. Both are an engaging read with vivid imagery and characters. If you enjoy suspense and well-crafted worlds this is a fantastic choice.
