Book one in the Surviving Series “Perhaps love is too strong of a word, maybe it’s only a feeling touching the edges of love, momentarily blinding our perception of the profound emotion.” Having never fully healed from that fateful night so long ago. Dr. Theodore Grants simply exists, traveling into the deepest darkest places of his past. Living where life and love no longer breathed. Unprepared for the cure to come. He was a prominent, renowned psychiatrist. He had it wealth, prestige, respect. Or so he thought. When tragedy unexpectedly struck, he was forced to help his best friend’s daughter. What he didn’t know was that he needed her, like his own breath. He fought the desire leading him astray, but in the end, he wanted only one Her. She found his demons and slayed them with her innocence, crept into his heart like a spark of light. Passion sizzles, and sparks fly when the beautiful wounded Eden appears, to hell with what was right. Losing everything never factored in. All he wanted was to live in the moment. Her moment. Eden and Theo's journey continues in book two where Alex and Madison take center stage. *Content Taboo yes, but Eden’s charter is of consenting age, it contains adult content, language, and scenes that may not be suitable for all audiences. Intended for 18+ audience. *
Virginia Wine’s love for books all began as a book-blogger, dedicating her time and passion to talented authors, assisting and reviewing the world’s top writers.
A voracious reader herself, and insatiable appreciation for the book world. She soon discovered her own passion for writing, and knack for storytelling. Writing what she loves to read, the romantic suspense genre was a perfect fit.
Dreaming of new ways to tug her readers heart strings, and creating scorching hot love scenes fed the thrill for inventing new stories.
Only just begun, she came out of the gate with a blast, delivering the Amazon best-selling Author status with her first book, then again with her second series.
Midwestern born Virginia Wine can be found living in paradise, on a beautiful lake where she and her family enjoy the water, and peace living among a small-town feel.
For the most part, this was an enjoyable read it just had some slight personal preferences that let proceedings down slightly for me overall. Without these niggles, my final rating would have been much higher. I still enjoyed "Surviving Eden" At its heart, it still was a well written and at times extremely poignant experience. This is a story all about loss and rebirth; About two people finding each other in the midst of this soul-destroying pain and loss. We have Dr Theodore Grant; successful psychiatrist and Eden the daughter of Theo's deceased close friend; And when he takes her on as his patient to assist her in her grief after the passing of her family in a horrific accident; he knows he's sinking fast. To further complicate matters Eden feels the same pulling connection to Theo and it's not long before these two succumb fully to there pulsing bond and ultimate attraction. This has a touch of the taboo feel to it; there is a thirteen-year age gap between Theo and Eden but that's not what sends up the red flags here; the differences in their years is a secondary concern and only slightly touched on; its the taboo nature of there relationship Doctor and patient that is at the heart of this book. Surprisingly there doesn't seem to be that much of a concern over the threat of disbarment; rather than the actual worry that it is coming. Theo and Eden hardly seem to fight there connection at all; I was slightly sceptical as This is someone's career and livelihood we are talking about here. Theo has been closed off emotionally for years; would he then succumb so swiftly to the softer emotions all at the expense of his job; mmm I'm not so convinced myself. Despite the above, I did still enjoy the romantic dynamic portrayed here between this pair. But I also still struggled with the fact; that Theo was, in the beginning, a bit of a Man-Ho. I really didn't need or want the graphic descriptions of his exploits with other women. In some senses these encounters were hotter than the actual main course; Theo and Eden; which I found a bit out of whack myself. I felt this added nothing to the proceedings at all just not needed titalation; I know what the author was trying to portray; Theos actual disconnection; a kind of voyeur in his own depravity rather than an actual participant; but for me, it didn't ultimately work I'm afraid. he just came across as a bit of a douche with absolutley zero respect for the woman he was hooking up with. I actually felt quite sorry for his Ex despite her overall bitchiness; she was just understandable jealous and took it out on the wrong individual. There was also a great backstory here that was cleverly interwoven into the fabric of this tale. Eden and Theo have so much more than there relationship to ultimately contend with; still lots of surprises to catch them unawares. Things were also set up quite nicely for future endeavours. There were only a few secondary characters here, but what we encounter were quality; Gage, Edens bestie being my hands down favourite. Once our couple connected they did stay true to each other, thank god. This was told in dual POV and the finale was ultimately satisfying. All things considered, this was mostly good for me. Overall this was a bit swings and roundabouts, but taken in its entirety was mostly a good read. Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of " Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1) " of which I have reviewed voluntary. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. Dr. Theodore Grant worked hard his entire life to achieve his goals. He was a prominent, renowned psychiatrist. He had it all: wealth, prestige, respect. Or so he thought.
When tragedy unexpectedly struck, he was forced to help his best friend’s daughter. She needed him. What he didn’t know was that he needed her, too—like his own breath.
How could he know it would all go so terribly wrong? That he would cross the line? He fought the desire leading him astray with everything he had, but in the end, he wanted only one thing: her.
To hell with what was right. Losing everything never even factored in his decision. All he wanted to do was live in the moment. Her moment.
She found his demons and slayed them with her innocence. The answer was clear now: he had done the right thing. He was certain of it. People would believe what they wanted to believe.
His notion of right and wrong was discarded the day Eden Barnett walked into his office. What he didn’t know was that it would be the day his life truly began.
The day he followed his heart, and it lead him into the garden… of Eden.

Theo (Dr. Grant) has worked very hard to accomplish all he has, his relationship with his current “girlfriend” is purely physical. She doesn’t fulllfill anything for him although he really wasn’t in it to be full filled emotionally he wanted the physical contact nothing more nothing less. Oh how I adore our Dr. Grant……..I know losing a loved one is the hardest thing you ever face, and doing so at a young age was very traumatic for our dear sweet Dr. How can he heal those wounds when he keeps trying to ignore them? Then he gets some bad news.
Eden Barnett, she has just experienced a tragic loss. Feeling alone in the loss of the ones she loved she seems to shut down her emotions. Although she has a very close friend it feels as though she never really deals with her loss. Her Uncle Vince wants to get her some therapy, all though his motives seemed well intended I still questioned his sincerity.
Eden and Dr. Grant, from day one of their meeting you knew there was that spark, you could feel it. It may have only been from across a room at a glance but you felt that! Uncle Vince sets up some therapy sessions with Dr. Grant, it’s the best thing this guy does! Lol
There are no lulls in this story from page one to the last I was captivated. The perfectly timed twists and some majorly hot... HOT sex scenes and a blooming romance it was easy to get sweeped away. I loved the storyline of these two and I loved that we get to meet some interesting characters. I am looking forward to reading more of Eden and Dr. Grant and I hope we learn more of Alex and hopefully Steel!! I highly recommend!! Go get lost in this read!
Eden & Theo They have each been through a tragic and extreme loss. Theo's may have been many years ago but the wounds are still tender. Eden's is recent and heartbreaking. A tale of two lost souls that wind up finding comfort and healing in one another. They are now thrown together professionally and personally by extreme circumstances. Eden Barrett a young beautiful women that is on the cusp of graduating from college experiences the loss of both of her parents . Dr Theo Grant a well known and established psychiatrist is no stranger to loosing loved ones. Having lost his entire family at the tender age of seven. He is now given the tasks of helping a college friends daughter through the grieving process. Neither Eden or Theo could have expected the immediate pull or attraction that they would feel for one another. The attraction is undeniable and along with that they soon find themselves on a path of secrets, lies and buried truths . This was an amazing journey with them!! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Surviving Eden is a book about love and loss for Eden and Theo. How to get past tragedy to find hope on the other side.
Dr. Theo Grant has suffered tremendous loss, as has Eden. Theo is a psychiatrist, also the friend of Eden’s late father. When Eden begins seeing Dr. Grant to help with her grief, the connection between them grows and becomes undeniable.
Together they’ll search for answers they both need to move forward. But when her only living relative seems to have ulterior motives, he’ll do just about anything to get what he wants. Including reporting the sexy doctor to the board for misconduct.
I enjoyed this story line. I really did, I promise. It was different from any I’ve read to date. Had a bit of drama mixed in with the sexiness. However, for me I did not enjoy the writing style of this author. It was hard to follow, I found my self confused by the quick progression from one thought to the next and often had to flip back to make sure I didn’t skip a page. It does end in a cliffy, so be forewarned.
My first Virginia Wine story and it was a little hard to follow for me. At first, it was reading like this taboo older man/younger woman story. But it ended up being more than that.
Eden is a young woman that has just lost her parents. She is grieving but her uncle doesn't think she is doing it properly so he calls up Dr. Theo Grant.
Dr. Theo Grant is/was Eden's father's friend. But he never met Eden. So when he sees her at the funeral he gets all kinds of bad ideas. But when she becomes his patient things could go wrong.
This is a good story but I just couldn't get into this story. I read through it though. I am pretty sure I will read the next one. That is why I gave it 4 stars since it was hard to write this review, do to the complex read and feelings towards this book.
This is a new author to me, and I will certainly be looking forward to reading more from her! Theo is a renowned psychiatrist, who when tragedy strikes, comes to the assistance of his best friend’s daughter Eden. This is a beautifully written story, which is a forbidden doctor / patient relationship, and is an emotional and heartbreaking story filled with suspense and mystery. I look forward to reading more of this authors’ work,
This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm hooked. I'm so grateful I have the next installment of the series already downloaded.
The story moves quickly and while it is a story of forbidden love, it is truly about the process of healing. The H and h are both very likeable, the best friends are fantastic and the open door sex scenes were easily skimmed.
I read this book on one sitting and found it enjoyable and entertaining.
Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1) by Virginia Wine is a contemporary romance story about love and loss and finding that one person who understands you. It is also about forbidden love in the eyes of others, doctor/patient, age and best friends daughter. But as we know love has no boundaries and it doesn’t discriminate, love is love and not one size fits all. Virgina has once again cleverly woven and written a story that will make your heartache and shows real and raw feelings. It is a story that has drama and passion, loss and love and finding your one but in the midst of loss so great, that you feel deep in your soul. Dr Theodore Grant has been closed off emotionally for years and the only things he lets himself feel are the things that are extreme, fast cars, sex and the one being in control and professional. When he is asked to take on a new patient he finds himself suddenly feeling things he has never felt. He finds himself succumbing and his control slipping whenever she is around. Will he give in to temptation or will all his moral codes to fly out the window? It is a great start to the series and I can’t wait for the rest.
This was the first book I've read by this author and it certainly won't be the last. I should be ashamed to say that this book has sat on my kindle for... Too long. I have to say that I've really enjoyed this book. I've read it in one sitting tonight. I loved the plot, the twists, the characters, and the setting. I look forward to reading book 2.
First off, the narration was great for Surviving Eden. She does great with both the female and male voices. Solid, clear quality performance. I'd recommend the audio if you decide to give this book a shot.
I enjoyed the premise for Surviving Eden, and the romance is really sweet. Overall, I liked both Theo and Eden. Theo is manly and take charge, but still a sweetheart; well mostly. Eden is confident, and doesn't play games. Theo's family (Parents and Sister) died when he was a kid and Eden's parents have just been killed in a car accident, so they both are dealing with grief. This draws them together, but there's a little bit of a problem. Theo was Eden's dad's friend, and he is now also Eden's psychiatrist. I love a forbidden romance, so I was all on board for that. Eden is 22 and Theo is 35, so it's not a crazy age difference. So all of that is good, but then there's these things that just didn't work with the story or that I just don't like in stories. What I don't like, plenty of readers probably don't mind. I did find the story entertaining. I'm going to have to use some spoilers to explain, so here's the warning! They are fairly minor spoilers and mainly happen in the beginning of the book, but some may not want to know. Spoilers Ahead! Spoilers Ahead!
*Spoiler starting*
Why didn't Theo just stop seeing Eden as a patient. She doesn't even need therapy. Also, if it's so taboo of a relationship, why in the heck are you going out in public all the time with each other. They don't even try to hide it at all. It made no sense.
I don't like when the hero has sex scenes with other people. Theo has a girl with benefits that wants more from him, which he has 2 detailed sex scenes with. There's also some random tennis skank that he has a detailed sex scene with, which I didn't see any point for that to happen. This also happens after he has already met Eden. They aren't together yet, but I still don't like it. I would normally just skip past those pages while reading, but since I was driving while listening to the audio I couldn't, so that made it worse.
Also, Eden and Theo have sex without a condom, but then the next time, the author chooses to mention that Theo puts on a condom, then the next time no condom again. All of these scenes without any mention of not using a condom, so why would the author even have him wear a condom that one time after they have already had sex without?
Eden is working as a stripper to gain information about her real parents. She has been doing this for 3 months already, and she never mentions when she is supposed to receive the information. What guarantee do you have that they (whoever they is) will give you this information from 17 years ago. So, this all seems idiotic to me and fit oddly in the story.
There's also a chapter that takes place in the past that added nothing to the story. All it did was show that Theo was friends with jerks. Maybe it will have some purpose in the next book or something. There were quite a few odd things added to the story that just fizzled out.
I just don't think this series is for me. The main characters for the next book were introduced in this book, but so far, they have left a lot to be desired. The female main character for the next book is engaged to a man because her father chose him, she cheats on said fiancé with a man she met that night. These actions scream weak to me, so I'll probably skip it. Plus, I don't want to read anymore sex scenes with random men or women.
*Spoiler End*
Overall, it's a sweet romance with some good sex scenes. There's too many things getting in the way of the characters growth and development; things get muddled. I do like Surviving Eden, so I went with 3 stars, but it didn't quite reach the level the story could've. The narration is on point and great, so I'd go with 5 stars for the narration.
***This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review*** I’m on the fence when it comes to this book, while I didn’t hate the story, I wasn’t exactly blown away either. The author is clearly talented, I can see that in her narration. She perfectly nails the first person POV, which in my opinion is not easy. She smoothly transitions from Theo to Eden, although I find myself more interested in Theo’s thoughts than Eden’s, but that may just be a personal preference. I found myself feeling a little confused by Theo and Eden’s relationship. There are just some serious factors that were just glanced over and not really given much thought. The age difference was really nothing to me. Yes, there is an age gap of thirteen years, but at 22 and 35 that isn’t a big deal to me. However, his career was one point that I kept thinking about. As a Doctor would he really be that ready to take the plunge to possibly damage his career for a woman? A man who has had serious detachment from women in the past? I get that he kept himself at a distance for a reason, the man has emotional scars, but his career is his livelihood and he really seems to love what he does. The possibility of disciplinary action just seems glanced over and not really taken seriously. Theo could have helped Eden as her partner without insisting on staying her doctor, it wasn’t really relevant to stay doctor and patient. There also wasn’t much resistance to a sexual relationship either. As a man who kind of treats woman as a hole to use, he quickly fell into Eden hook line and sinker. I just found that it fit too quickly into a neat little box. That being said, the relationship between Eden and Theo was actually quite sweet. I enjoyed their chemistry and the sex scenes were pretty hot and enjoyable to read. Eden has a sweet, but confident nature. I wish I could find myself as confident at 31 as she does at 22. She seems to really care about Theo and it seems to help Theo deal with the turbulent sea of emotions that hit him in this story. As the story draws to an end, sort of, I found myself feeling disappointed. I realize it is suppose to be a form of cliff hanger, but I just felt very unsatisfied.
Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine is the first book in her new contemporary romance series, Surviving Series. Following the story of Dr. Theodore Grant and Eden, I couldn’t get enough of either of these characters. Dr. Grant, Theo, is a psychiatrist, but more than that he is a man who has never had feelings toward anyone. He just simply exists with no emotional attachments to anyone or thing. That is until he meets Eden. There is something about her that pulls him in from the very beginning. The way that Eden makes him feel is something that he wasn’t prepared for but she brings out the protector in him that he can’t seem to control. Eden is a woman in her own category. She is beautiful, strong willed and intelligent, and yet there is something about Theo that she can’t deny pulls her towards him. The attraction between these two is palpable from the very beginning, and the passion that comes from them is enough to light my e-reader on fire. But the emotions that Eden brings out in Theo are things he isn’t used to, and it makes him uncertain of his path with her. Is there a future for the two of them, together? The mystery, suspense and romance all tied into this story really kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end on this one. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series has in store for me. Wine is a new to me author, and I am so happy that I picked this series up. If you are looking for a great new author with a storyline that will hook you from the beginning and never let go than this is the one for you. I can’t wait to see where this series goes in the future cause it’ll be a heck of ride to read!
Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1) By: Virginia Wine 5 out of 5 stars
The story Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1) by Virginia Wine is a contemporary romance book. It is a book that is enjoyable to read and has characters that I grew to love with each chapter. The two main characters are Dr. Theodore Grants and Eden. Theo is a psychiatrist. He is also a man that simply exists, no emotional attachments. He has never felt that way towards anyone. That is until he meets Eden. He is there to help her and finds himself also wanting to protect her. There is an attraction that is undeniable, a pull towards her. Eden is a beautiful, strong-willed, intelligent, and talented woman. She also feels an attraction towards Theo. There is passion and desire between Theo and Eden. There are also conflicted emotions. What does the future hold for Theo and Eden? Read this story to find out. This is an author who knows how to write a story that will have your emotions going up and down the entire time. Theo and Eden are characters that I had empathy for and I also found myself wanting them to find happiness in their lives. This story also has a bit of mystery that will have you asking questions. There are steamy scenes that red hot and that make the temperature in the room rise. If you want to read a romance story that will have you turning pages to find out what will happen next this is the one for you. This is a powerful and entertaining first book in a series.
Surviving Eden is the first book in the Surviving Series by Virginia Wine. If this first book is any indication of how the whole series will be then I’m sure that this will be a series that I read many times. Dr Theo Grant is a highly renowned psychiatrist. With a very difficult childhood behind him, he himself would be a psychiatrist dream to work with. His past has led him to believe that he’s not lovable and he has no intention of settling down with one woman. That is until he met Eden Barnett. Eden is the adopted daughter of Theo’s best friend Matthew Barnett. When Matthew and his beloved wife are tragically killed, Eden becomes Theo’s patient to help her deal with her grief. To say that sparks flew when these 2 met would be an understatement. They are both drawn to one another and their connection is fierce. Can Theo go against one of the very cornerstones of his profession and have a relationship with his patient? Will helping Eden also help Theo deal with the demons from his own past? Can they both heal each other? In order to answer these questions I would urge you to read this book. These 2 characters are amazingly well written. You, as the reader, get to see right into their souls. Thankfully, I also have books 2 and 3 on my kindle just waiting for me to devour. I can’t wait to see what Virginia Wine has in store for Theo and Eden and also for their friends and family members who will take centre stage in the rest of this series.
Surviving Eden, the title caught my eye, but the book was nothing like I expected. Theo is a well known psychiatrist. He is going to help Eden, the daughter of his best friend after the untimely death of her parents. He had no idea the attraction that would be there between them, and was forced to confront his own ethics. He can't have a relationship with his patient, yet he can't stay away from her. This moral dilemma is one that Theo is fighting, he could ruin his career. But despite this relationship, there is a lot of backstory and history of the two that goes into their character building. I loved this part of the story, the making of the person is so interesting and gives me the feelings needed to understand their motives and decisions. With the search for Eden's birth parents and the Theo's surprise, an underlying angst and feeling of suspense lies in background too. All woven together this is a good book.
Heather Firth narrates this book, and it's my first listen by her. I loved her voice! She has a warm tone with the perfect pace. With distinguishing voices for each character, she is able to produce both male and female voices with ease. She made the story enjoyable to listen to .
Surviving Eden is the first book in the Surviving series by Virginia Wine. It is a contemporary romance with a bit of a Taboo element in the form of doctor/patient, best friends’ daughter relationship- as well as some drama, great chemistry, interesting characters, and an intriguing plot. The way the story was told gave me a really great perspective of what was going on, what the characters were thinking and how they felt. Theo Grant is a highly respected and successful Psychiatrist who prides himself on being in control, at all times. He carries some issues from his past, and self-medicates with fast cars, women, and sex. His control will be put to the test when he is asked to take on his (recently deceased) friend’s daughter as a client, to help her deal with her grief. The sparks and chemistry are immediate, and Theo struggles to remain professional. What happens when their chemistry boils over? With his reputation and career at stake, what will he choose to do? I enjoyed reading Theo and Eden’s story and finding out what happens. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
Surviving Eden is the opening act to Virginia Wine’s Surviving Series. I read the fourth book first and she pulled me in with that story so I knew that I had to go back to the beginning and yes, Archer was also in this very first book and I know if I had started with this one, I would have gone on to read the rest of the series AND I do have the second and third book already downloaded on my app! Surviving Eden is the story of Dr Theodore Grant and Eden Barrett. Both of them have experienced extreme loss and despite the age gap (Eden is the adult daughter of Theo’s dead friend) and professional therapist-client relationship, these two lost souls will seek comfort and healing in each other! These personal losses change one’s life, fundamentally, and they force us to re-evaluate our lives and change the direction we were heading to! The story gives are twists and turns, heat, steamy sex scenes and romance …. I loved Theo and Eden for themselves and for each other and I loved Theo’s friends and I cannot wait for their stories (and I already know Archer’s story) and if they are anything like Theo and Archer’s stories then man, we are in for a treat!
Surviving Eden was a great 5 star read. We start out in the past with a heartbreaking scene involving Theo and his family. We jump ahead to present day, he is now a psychiatrist. When Theo gets a call about a tragic accident involving his best friend and wife the past memories come rushing back to him.
When he sees Eden at the funeral he has a connection with her, he understands her pain. He quickly leaves knowing he needs to get away from her. There is something about her that he can’t get out of his mind, an attraction he knows isn’t right. When fate brings her to his office things take a twist and get even more interesting.
Will these two be able to help heal each other’s hearts? Can they have a HEA?
I really enjoyed this book, I was pulled right in and didn’t want to stop until I was done. I really liked Theo and Eden. Theo was a straightforward man he never led anyone on as to what he wanted in the bedroom, and boy were there some hot scenes. Eden was great as well, she was determined to get answers to her questions no matter what. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. I can’t wait to read more from these two and this series.
Not sure my review can do the beginning of Eden and Theo’s story but man this was such a great book. I think one aspect of why this story was so great is the forbidden factor. We all know the doctor/patient relationship should be nothing but professional but Theo is immediately drawn to Eden. He can’t understand why. He never has this reaction to women. He basically needs a woman to scratch the proverbial itch and for social outings from time to time. But Eden was immediately different for him.
Eden is young but she knows what her heart wants. And that is Theo. She brings out a different side of him, the loving and tender side that he didn’t know existed. Their relationship may be forbidden but it’s so beautiful.
The suspense/mystery factor was also very well done. With Eden looking for her birth parents and then Theo finding out secrets he didn’t know existed about his past. There was never a dull moment in this book and I can’t wait to see what the next book brings.
This is one of those books that the synopsis alone had me hooked. I always love a little taboo here and there so this was one I was ready to devour.
Both Theo and Eden are both suffering from loss. Both are clouded with grief and have a way of handling it different. Theo met grief early on in life while with Eden its fresh. Theo is a very well known psychiatrist and takes Eden on as a patient (she's the daughter of one of his friends). Almost immediately he realizes this won't be easy. They both have this pulse and electric energy between them that neither one can deny. I went into this book really thinking that the age difference was the taboo bit (13 years) but I think it's more about the Doctor / patient aspect that's more of the taboo.
The writing and flow of the story was beautifully done. There were things that surprised me and I love that it wasn't predictable. I cannot wait to dive into book 2 and see where this series takes me!
Surviving Eden is book one in the Surviving Series by Virginia Wine. I was intrigued by the blurb of this story, and just knew I was in for a spellbinding read. I love the taboo genre, and this book was a delight to read.
Theo and Eden should never have played with fire. Eden had tragedy strike and Theo was no stranger to loss, either. They were instantly drawn to each other, and although morally wrong, their feelings felt oh, so right. Their love was forbidden, but the need could not be denied, and the ultimate sacrifice was made.
Getting to know Theo and Eden was easy to do as they were so hard to resist. Their story screamed at me to read it. Their feelings were evident and the attraction blindingly obvious. Surviving Eden was emotional, arousing, addictive, splendid. Their journey was fraught with friction, suspense, drama, and those that wanted to see them fail. Their strength was immeasurable, their love unconditional, their story now told. 5 stars.
I enjoyed this book very much, Virginia Wine has a nice writing style, her characters are intense and well developed. Her storylines are deep and emotional at times. I loved the twists & turns in the story, as the plot thickened I could not put the book down. This is a great start to a new series, interesting characters with interesting stories. Alexander Kincaid Storm III is up next in “Surviving the Storm” Thank you Virginia Wine for the great read!
I listened to the audio edition, Heather Firth does a wonderful job narrating and performing all the voices, Changing characters flawlessly and keeping the story in a perfect flow. Thank you for the great listen.
Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine is the first book in the Surviving series. This book is one that centres around a taboo subject so might not be for everyone. However this book is definitely worth reading if you give it a go. I was unsure as to how I would feel about this bill at first but when I got into I enjoyed the story. Although it is based around an older man/younger woman romance to me it almost had the same feel as a best friends sibling type story - forbidden fruit that you just can’t help but sample. The author writes so well that you are drawn into the story gently and she quietly gets you hooked. Having read other books by this author I knew this would be enjoyable but I was surprised by just how much I liked it. It is a well developed plot with well developed characters. I would definitely recommend giving this book a try.
5 Star Surviving Eden ( Surviving Series Book 1) By Virginia Wine is the first book in the Surviving Series. From the very first page I had a feeling that this was going to be one of those books that sucked you in and made you unaware of your surroundings. Man was I right. This was intense and had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next. Theo is not only a Psychiatrist but he is also a man that has no emotional attachments and just exists. He's never felt that way with anyone that is until he meets Eden. He's not only trying to help her but he finds himself wanting to protect her as well. There is definitely an attraction between these two. Eden is a talented and a very strong willed woman. What does the future look like I highly recommend reading this book especially if you want to know what happens next. I look forward to the next book. In this series.
Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine is book one of the Surviving Series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I was not disappointed. I absolutely enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read book two!
Theo has experienced an extreme tragedy. Because of that, he is effective in his role as a psychiatrist. When he meets Eden, she is the light to his darkness. He doesn’t expect to feel what he feels for Eden and he does his best to convince himself that he can’t act on the feelings he has for her.
Eden has recently experienced her own tragedy and can’t help but feel drawn to Theo. As much as he thinks he can help her, she knows she can help him too. Theo needs Eden and nothing about their circumstances will keep them apart.
This book drew me in and I couldn’t put it down!! I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to finish the series.
Virginia Wine's Surviving Eden is the first book in the Surviving Series. This romantic suspense was an emotional read. Two souls that have had unfortunate events in their lives that shifts their axis, forcing them to find themselves again. Theo is a magnetic individual, a thriving psychiatrist living on his own terms - though something also seems just out of his grasp. Eden is the next shift in Theo's life and this story takes the reader on the journey of discovering, along with them, on where fate truly wants them to be regardless of the potential consequences they may encounter. I found that this story was a thrilling read that I could not put down. I look forward to reading the next book(s) in the series to see how this story continues, as well as, the additional characters that are in the series.
Surviving Eden is a fabulous forbidden love romance read! It’s the first book in the Surviving Series and also my first book by this author but it certainly won’t be my last. This book had me feeling all kinds of emotional from beginning until the very end. I was swept up in Theo and Eden’s story right from the get-go and I ended up reading their story in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down.
The storyline flowed seamlessly and there was so much detail that it felt as if I was right there alongside these characters. I was able to connect with them right from the start which really added to my reading experience. I hope to read more about them in the future!
I can’t wait to dive into my next read by this incredible author! And would absolutely recommend this book to others!
I was given this book, for an honest unbiased review.
The story of Theo and Eden starts as a forbidden attraction (doctor/patient) between two people with similar tragedies in their pasts. There is an age difference but not huge - both are adults. I found Eden to be mature beyond her years which was probably deliberate.
As romance blossoms there are obstacles to overcome and secrets to uncover. Both the main characters and their friends were likeable with good interactions. There’s no cliffhanger or angst just a very well crafted tale which keeps your interest throughout.
I definitely recommend this brilliant and well written story and I will be buying the next one. I loved the great descriptive language in this book.
When I started reading this emotions just overwhelmed me ! The sense of loss was so real to me and having lost my own mum , unexpectedly to suicide, I could identify with Eden and her silence in the beginning , we all handle death differently and grief has no manual ......
When Dr Theodore first meets Eden his compassion overwhelms me and it just warms me butvat the same time I can sense his loss and heartache , this is one of those reads that has me all over the place!!!
Surviving Eden reminded me that grief and mourning has no time limit .
Theodore and Eden share loss and grief as their common ground but their chemistry is what makes them beautiful and together they blossom ......there is also an added bit of drama to add spice to a 5 star recipe !!!
