Rose Troyer, a widow, has returned home to Paradise, Pennsylvania to the old family farm with her son, Daniel. Rose is happy to once again be near her twin sister, Lillian. Rose still misses her husband, Sam and hopes being back among familiar things will help her. The farm has been neglected since their father passed away and needs work. Lillian hired Luke Miller to assist Rose with the running of the farm. Luke came to Paradise to assist his cousin, Abraham, and his family after a buggy accident. He likes the area and wishes to remain. Luke is attracted to Rose, but he can tell that she still misses her husband. He is willing to be patient and wait for her to be ready for a second love. Rose find look appealing Luke, but she is not willing to admit it yet. There is a secret that she is carrying, and Rose does not know how Luke will handle the news. Buried Secrets by Barbara Cameron is the second novel in Harvest of Hope series. It can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading Seeds of Hope. I thought Buried Secrets was well-written with realistic, developed characters. The pacing is slower than I prefer. I liked the symbolism of red cardinal and how he functioned as a guardian angel (of sorts). Rose’s secret is a mystery in the book. I like how it played out. There are clues given along the way, so it is not a surprise when it is finally revealed. The romance is sweet. I like the interactions between Luke and Daniel. Daniel is a sweet boy is full of energy. Buried Secrets is a pleasant story that is a delightful way to spend a rainy or snowy afternoon. I am looking forward to reading Summer’s Promise which is the third book in Harvest of Hope series. Buried Secrets is a heartwarming Amish tale with busy boys, a faded farm, close sisters, a caring community, and a second chance romance.
BURIED SECRETS is the second book in Ms. Cameron's newest series. Readers will want to read Seeds of Hope but this does stand alone. It is just a bit of Luke's backstory (that you don't need to know but you will want to).
I felt so sorry for Rose, losing her husband and having to move home but I was glad she had a twin sister there and other family to welcome her back.
I loved the addition of the red cardinal and all the symbolism he represented, and also the way he acted as a guardian angel of sorts.
Rose and her twin had secrets, some of which surprised me, some didn't as I knew which way I'd take it if I were the author. I loved the way they were woven into the story. Luke had his secrets, too.
My only complaint was a bunch of characters, many of their names beginning with the letter L, so I was trying to figure out - which was the twin and how was Lovina related (if at all). There were also a bunch of other characters mentioned once and never again and I didn't know who they were. It confused me.
Rose is a recently widowed young Amish woman. After her husband’s battle with cancer, Rose brings her four-year-old son back to Pennsylvania where she spent her childhood. She undertakes the renovation of her family’s old farm; however, as a single mother, she needs help with the manual labor.
Luke, an unmarried Amish man, calls Ohio home but fell in love with the community in Pennsylvania. He lives with a family there despite his desire for a wife and children of his own. He answers Rose’s call for help on the farm and chooses to work for her despite the unconventional dynamic of having a female boss.
As Rose mourns her husband and Luke desires to honor God’s wishes for his future wife, both feel pressure from the church to be married. Secrets threaten to overthrow their budding romance, and the question remains whether they can overcome this grief and mystery to find each other in the midst of it.
ASSESSMENT
Rating (1 to 5): 4
Suggested Audience: Adult women who enjoy Amish romance
Christian Impact: The characters are patient, kind, and selfless examples of Christians. Luke in particular strides to fall in line with God’s will rather than his own timeline. The romance is sweet and does not include any content against the Biblical design for marriage and courting. This book is free of profanity, violence, and sexual content.
Even though Buried Secrets is the second book in the Harvest of Hope series, it can be read as a standalone. This novel does offer pieces of backstory occasionally, but having no prior knowledge doesn’t hinder the reading experience. The pacing is rather slow; however, it reflects the gentle and hardworking nature of the Amish people and will be a comforting read to those who enjoy the genre.
This novel is a gentle read, reflecting the general lifestyle of Amish people. Cameron offers a good romance with a bit of mystery included. While there is a slight twist to the plot, there are no surprises as readers are given plenty of hints along the way.
I liked the characters. They are pretty well crafted. My favorite was Daniel, son of widowed Rose. He is a sweet boy with boundless energy. I liked Luke too. His love for Rose was so selfless and patient.
I was not familiar with the meaning of the cardinal, the one that seemed to watch over Rose and Daniel. That the bird could somehow represent the presence of a loved one who had died seemed a little odd. I did learn some about other Amish ideas, however.
I do recommend this novel to readers who like Amish romance. The end was abrupt and for me, unsatisfactory and just too easy. Other than that and the cardinal idea, a good novel.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Buried Secrets is Barbara Cameron's second book her her Harvest of Hope Series. Although it is the second book you can start the series here and not be lost.
Rose has suffered much loss in her short life. She lost both of her parents and most recently her husband Sam. Thankfully she has her son Daniel to keep her from falling too deep in despair. Along with Daniel there is her twin sister Lillian. Rose and her sister have always been close, so when Sam passed away Lillian persuaded Rose to sell their farm in Ohio and move back to Paradise and take over the family farm. Such change in such a short amount of time, Rose hopes she's doing the right thing.
Luke Miller left Ohio and came to Paradise to help his cousin Abraham and his family after a buggy accident. It was supposed to be a temporary move but Luke fell in love with Paradise and the people of the community and decide to make his home there. With no luck finding a farm of his own in the Amish community he jumps at the chance to help Lillian's sister Rose on her farm. He had secretly hoped to buy the farm but he figures he can make enough money helping Rose to save up and buy a farm of his own if one ever becomes available. Luke is a hard worker and an honest man and will do his best to help Rose bring the family farm back to prosperity.
This is such a sweet and heartwarming story. I love how Luke is determined to make Rose's farm a success so much so that he refuses to take a wage until the harvest comes in. I liked Luke from the start and it's hard not to. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he loves Daniel. He goes out of his way to spend time with him and never tires of his questions. Luke is an all around good guy and I can see why Lillian chose him to help her sister on the farm.
I felt so bad for Rose. She lost her husband whom she loved dearly, and she moves home to the family farm and faces the monumental task of making it prosper again. She didn't love Ohio and it didn't feel like home once Sam passed but she's taking on a huge burden. I can understand why she is leery of others and afraid to get to close to people, she just can't stand another heartbreak. Daniel is the light of her life and I believe he gives her the strength to keep moving on. He's such a fun and energetic kid he reminds me of my boys, always full of energy and into something!
The title kept me guessing for the longest time. I kept reading trying to find out what the buried secret was! I figured it would be something dark and menacing, maybe threatening Rose and or Daniel. I won't spoil it for you but I think you will be as surprised as I was!
* I was provided a free copy from Gilead Publishing. I was under no obligation to post a favorable review. All opinions expressed above are my own.
Buried Secrets is Book 2 from Barbara Cameron’s. Harvest of Hope series. I liked this one a little more than the first book,. Seeds of Hope. I felt a connection to Rose. I understood what she was going through. Luke was a good addition to her story. Their scenes together were sweet. I, also, liked how there were a few twists that I did not see coming.
Buried Secrets was mostly an enjoyable read, but was confusing at times and made it a little difficult to get through. I give it 3 1/2 stars. I look forward to the next installment from the Harvest of Hope series.
I received this book from the publisher. This review was 100% my own honest opinion.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley
Dnf at 30%. It's not you it's me Was too slow for me, I didn't like the author's style, too much inner ramblings, too much indecisions. My time is more precious. Christian romance.
What a wonderful and heartwarming story Ms. Cameron has penned! From beginning to end, I was fully caught up in the story of Rose and her adorable little boy, Daniel. Rose is returning to her family home in Paradise as a widow to be with her family, especially her twin sister, Lillian.
I loved Rose and mourned the loss of her husband, but she had an inner strength that I greatly admired and she is the epitome of a good mother. The love and care she gave Daniel was so sweet. I was extremely fond of Luke and his relationship with Daniel was natural and believable. The caution that Rose took with her son , her farm and most of all with her heart was refreshing as she wasn't in a hurry to dive into a relationship with Luke or any other man in the community.
This is a tender story with selfless love and a secret that I kept trying to figure out but was a bit surprised when it was revealed. Although this is the second book in the series, it was fine to read as a stand-alone to me. I will be reading the first book as soon as I can and I'm curious to see what's next in this series.
I recommend this book to readers of all ages that enjoy both Amish and Christian fiction I received a copy from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Although the title and cover of Buried Secrets made me hope for a mystery/suspense type novel, thus leading to a bit of disappointment, the book was nevertheless an enjoyable read. The plot and characters were very well developed which made it easy to care what happened to them. I agreed with other characters that Luke and Rose were perfect for each other so it was sometimes frustrating to see how hard they fought their obvious attraction.
The secrets alluded to by the book’s title did have a lot to do with Luke and Rose’s behavior but bringing those secrets to light eventually solved their problems even if some misunderstanding had to be overcome first. I loved the inclusion of the cardinal into the story line and adored Rose’s little son Daniel who brought a special touch to the story.
This well written and pleasant story is sure to make a welcome addition to the libraries of most lover of Amish fiction.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Gilead Publishing. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
The author has given us a story about a woman who is not ready to really move on in her life after losing her young husband. She does make a slight move of moving on by leaving her husband’s Ohio community and settling in Paradise Pennsylvania, moving into her deceased parents’ home. Then we have a young man who willingly moved to another area to help his cousin and his family. His brother will inherit his family’s farm, so he is looking to buy one. So, what do these two have in common, being Amish for one, both a single, she has a four-year-old son he seems to adore, but will she be willing to move on? We become immersed in these people’s lives, and you will be surprised as bombshells are dropped, and continue right to the end. While I would have liked an epilogue, and a bit more finish on the story, all in all, I did like the read.
I received this book through the Publisher Gilead, and was not required to give a positive review.
Secrets can be lots of fun or they can be bad news. When the secret is related to a gift or a special surprise, I find that I have such a hard time keeping quiet about it. I get so excited about how the person is going to react I can hardly stand it.
There are secrets that are kept for fear of shame or judgment. The kind that could cause others to look at you differently if revealed. The kind that gossips delight in. Then there are secrets that are simply things that weren’t spoken of beforehand, and now the telling of them would be awkward and could cause misunderstandings.
Buried Secrets has a few of each kind of secret…
Various Amish communities have different restrictions and it is always interesting to read stories that highlight differences. One of the things that stood out to me in Buried Secrets was the use of pre-packaged foods – macaroni and cheese, weenies, hot chocolate mix, marshmallows. For a culture known for doing so much by hand, it made me smile to think of the characters using these items.
It was easy to get caught up in Rose’s grief and worries. Her fears over harm coming to her adorable son, Daniel, seemed so natural after having lost her husband, even though his death was due to leukemia, not an accident. Knowing how mothers can worry over their children, this just seemed so normal, despite the fact that worry doesn’t fix anything.
I loved the way that Luke so quickly became enamored with Daniel (after all, how could he help it!) and especially the way he fell in love with Rose. His kind and gentle nature came through so clearly and his patience was commendable.
I was uncomfortable with the hinting that the presence of the cardinal somehow represented Sam’s spirit watching over his family. This literary device isn’t unique to this author; I have heard of such an idea in the past and even remember using it in a story I wrote in 7th grade. Before I was a Christian. There is a part of me which thinks it sounds sweet and almost romantic. Regardless, it is wrong and I wish it hadn’t been used in the story.
Seeds of Hope, the first book of the series, is alluded to here, but knowledge of the story is not necessary for the understanding or enjoyment of this one.
I really liked Rose so much. She has a sweet spirit and I love how she came back home to be near her family. It isn't easy for her since her husband passed, but she knows that God has a plan for her. Would it be hard for you to pick up and leave everything behind and start over?
Luke has decided to help Rose on her farm, but I'm not sure their first introductions went well. Rose knows how to run a farm and it may be hard for Luke to take orders from her. It is hard for Luke to be around Rose sometimes, because he knows he is starting to have feelings for her. What will he do when he finds out about the secret Rose has been keeping from him?
I loved the relationship that Luke has with Rose's son Daniel. They seem to have developed a great relationship and Daniel is starting to like having Luke around. When an accident happens , will it bring Luke and Rose closer? It is very evident that they both love Daniel and seeing him injured hurts both of them. I admire all the work Luke has done to get the farm up and running again. You can sense he aches to be part of Rose's life, but something is stopping her from saying yes to him.I have always believed that communication is vital to a relationship. Luke and Rose really need to sit and have a long talk. It's funny how things get so mixed up in your head when you don't talk about the problem.
As you read the book, you will find that a cardinal is mentioned several times. It is a very significant sign to me, but I want you to experience the symbolism yourself. I won't give my opinion about it. I loved how it was there throughout the story though. Was it a sign from God? Keeping secrets never turns out good and can cause hurt feelings. I loved how Luke and Rose guarded their relationship and made sure they followed their faith. I loved the story and thought the author did a good job of showing how faith can restore your trust and allow you to open your heart to new beginnings.
I received a copy of this book from Gilead Publishing. The review is my own opinion.
Barbara Cameron is the author of “Buried Secrets”, the second book in the Harvest of Hope series. I read and reviewed the first novel in the series and was anxious to continue the series with “Buried Secrets”.
After Rose’s husband dies, she and her young son moved back to Paradise, Pennsylvania to be near her twin sister, Lillian, and to move into the family farm. Although she is a farm wife, there is no way that she can continue to run the farm single-handedly. Her sister recommends hiring Luke Miller, a newcomer to the community. They form a partnership of sorts with him doing the hard farm work and she providing meals. They are attracted to one another, but each one has secrets that could threaten their future together.
Rose feels that any romantic notions for another man, is cheating on the memory of her husband and there is another secret that is more threatening. Luke has a secret that may make Rose hesitant to pursue their relationship. I enjoyed, for the most part, the on again-off again aspects of their lives on the farm, but it soon became wearisome. When each one’s secrets are revealed, I felt a sense let down on the part of Luke’s, but a total disbelief with Rose’s. I could not comprehend any of it. This really influenced my review of this book. The ending of this novel just wasn’t something that I could put my head around. Hopefully the next book of the series will be different. I felt that Ms. Cameron was grasping for a substantial set of secrets that would add more enthusiasm to the novel.
I received a complimentary print copy of this book from Gilead Publishers. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love love this book!! One of Barbara Cameron's best yet!! Delightful characters that are easy to make friends with and are able to rejoice and be there with!! This author has just the right style of writing to cry, laugh. She delivers wonderful messes through her novels and this one is no exception! I always say that grief has no time plus you'll never really get over missing that person no matter where you land. I still miss my mom and grandparents and it's been 20 some years or more. So I completely understand. Time does have a way of soothing hurt and God has a way of filling that void in you life if you let Him. In some ways, I think that we'd all be better off living like the Amish do. I love the idea of being in the world but not of it. I also like the way the community get together to help one another out in each person's time of need. I do realize that Amish aren't perfect by no means. They have gossips like we do. Forgiveness is what I like as well. But, that doesn't mean that the person is actually forgiven on the inside. That takes time. Believe me, I understand that all too well. We are all a progress in the works. I will say I wish I were a lot like Rose. Daniel is so sweet!! I want his energy!! Kids are special and I believe that Daniel was a blessing to Rose. Just like Michael was a huge blessing to me after my mom passed. I gave this book five stars because I enjoy Barbara Cameron's books and her writing style. I love getting into her stories right from the beginning and any fan of hers will burn midnight oil on this delicious Amish story! I hope there will be another one in the future because I think Ruth and Luke and also Lillian still have a story to tell!!
Don’t let the cover and the title give you the wrong impression of this book. There’s nothing sinister in this story. (At my first glance of this cover, I thought this might be a mystery/suspense story.) This is a tender story of a young widow and her little son who are attempting to begin life again after great heartbreak. There are secrets that are being kept, but they revolve around love and concern for others. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning of the book and quite enjoyed reading about the growing relationship between Luke and Rose. This is the second book of a series, but I felt it stood alone very well alone without reading the first book. That being said, I want to go back and read that first book and will be looking forward to the next one in this series.
There is something a little bit “mystical” in this story regarding a cardinal that keeps appearing to the two main characters. That addition to the storyline is not personally my sort of thing, and I could easily have done without it, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story, either. I also wish that there had been an epilogue to this story. I’m hoping the next book gives us more of a glimpse into the lives of these lovely characters.
This is a sweet, wholesome Amish romance with surprises in the storyline. Barbara Cameron did an great job with this book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
I generally don't read a lot of Amish novels but Gilead Publishing produces quality books, so I decided to give this one a try and was not disappointed. Barbara Cameron creates a stirring tale of Rose, an Amish widow who returns to her family home after the death of her husband from leukemia. My heart ached for Rose as she adjusted to life without her mann and worked to provide for her five-year-old son, Daniel, by hiring Luke, recommended by her twin sister, Lillian. The development of their relationship from partners to friends and possibly more is gentle and sweet, and Daniel's boyish energy and innocence evokes humorous as well as awkward--and a few gasp-inducing--scenes. Cameron paces the novel well, and I also enjoyed the close family connections between Rose and Lillian and their children. My only disappointment was the ending, which was somewhat abrupt, as if the last scene had to be minimized to meet a word count. Overall, however, this is a pleasant read that will appeal to fans of the Amish genre.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a copy of this book free from Gilead Publishing for a blog tour. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
I really enjoy Amish fiction because it seems I learn something about myself every time I read about the lifestyle and faith of the Amish people. I could feel Rose’s heartache every time the loneliness of losing her husband would overcome her as she was going about her daily life and thanking God that she still has her 5 year old son, Daniel to hold close to her heart. And it’s obvious right from their meeting that Luke’s life changes for the better when he starts working on Rose’s farm and spends time with her and little Daniel. It’s easy to see why Rose and Luke will make a good pair, especially the delightful way Luke interacts with Daniel as he teaches him the things his father would if he was still alive. My only criticism is the frustration I felt with the repetition of Rose’s thoughts and Luke’s thoughts and the fact that much of the interaction between these two characters takes place in Rose’s kitchen during meals. It seems to me that an experienced author could have found other entertaining ways for these characters to interact that would have made this a five star read. I read an early copy of this book from Gilead Publishing through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
Amish widow, Rose, has returned home to Pennsylvania with her son, Daniel, to bring her family's derelict farm back to life and to find a new direction for her life as a young widow and mother. Her twin sister has hired, Luke, an Amish young man, who is also looking for a new start in Pennsylvania to help her sister redevelop the farm. But both Rose and Luke are harboring secrets that may keep them from developing a relationship as they work together.
I enjoyed this book more than most Amish reads as it had enough twists and turns in the plot to keep it from feeling formulaic. The storyline was well developed and the characters were complex and interesting. Even though it had a gentle pace it fit well with the Amish lifestyle. The secrets that both Rose and Luke were hiding definitely added a bit of a hitch to the smooth development of their relationship, but I liked how they worked out each of their temporary setbacks. The use of the cardinal thread throughout was very endearing and well incorporated.
** I received a complimentary copy of this book from Gilead Publishing through NetGalley. Opinions are mine alone. I was not compensated for this review.
Buried Secrets by Barbara Cameron is yet another Amish love story. Although it does contain some unique elements, readers are liable to grow weary with the number of times protagonist Rose brews coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
However, the developing relationship between widowed Rose, her young son Daniel, and handyman, Luke Miller hired to bring Rose’ family farm back to life, is intriguing. Will they marry? Will Rose’ love for her deceased husband prevent her from finding love again? Cameron doesn’t answer those questions until literally the final page of the book.
One cannot help but admire the strength and camaraderie of the Amish community while hoping for a love connection between Rose and Luke. The story also incorporates the distinctive bond shared between Rose and her twin Lillian. Just how much will sisters sacrifice for one another? Readers may be surprised to find out.
Overall, Buried Secrets is a pleasant way to pass a rainy day.
***The publisher provided a free book. However, all opinions included in this review are entirely my own.
I really enjoyed this story about a sweet widow and her adorable son finding a second chance at happiness and love. Rose was a wonderful, caring person, still grieving the loss of her husband. Luke was an upstanding guy, very helpful, even in the kitchen! They both had a strong faith. They learned the value of truthfulness and not keeping secrets. There was quite a bit of humor in the story from Rose's son as he says and does things that are just so cute and funny. He was my favorite character. There's also some suspense as he gets into danger more than once. An interesting cardinal made an appearance at significant moments sometimes, very mysterious. A little bit of romance rounded out the story. This worked very well as a stand-alone; no need to read the series in order. I would highly recommend it if you like Amish stories.
I received a copy of this book from Gilead Publishing. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. This is my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed Buried Secrets. I found it to be well written and tender. The characters are so likable that you find yourself very wrapped up in them, and hoping the story has a happy ending.
Rose returns to her family's ancestral home in Lancaster to be near her twin sister, Lillian. Rose is a widow with a young son and is still grieving the death of her husband. The family home needs to be restored so Lillian hires Luke to help Rose restore the home and plant the field. As the time passes, Rose begins to heal from the sadness of losing her husband. What Rose does not know is that Luke has already fallen in love with her. Rose begins to have feelings for Luke but she has a secret. Rose fears the secret could threaten a future that she might be able to have with Luke. But Luke also has a secret that he has been keeping from Rose.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest feedback.
Buried Secrets is a sweet romance that builds over several months. This slow romance is one to be savored. I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Net Gallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. Rose, an Amish widow, has returned to take over the family farm. With her sister's advice, she hires Luke to help work the farm. For Rose, it starts with a friendship. Rose is still grieving her husband and isn't thinking of romance. For Luke, it is love at first sight for Rose and her son Daniel. I loved Rose's son Daniel, who is so full of life and love. Luke is a sweet and gentle man who gives Rose his support. Overall for me, this is a story of relationships: Rose with her twin sister, Rose with her son Daniel. Luke with his cousin, and especially the friendship and romance of Rose and Luke. I enjoyed reading this book very much.
Buried Secrets is book 2 in the Harvest of Hope series but they can be read as stand alone books.
I really enjoyed this Amish Fiction story. The main characters were great-Luke, Rose, Lillian, and Daniel and all the characters in the town of Paradise. I loved how they interacted on a daily basis with each other and how helpful and close knit they are.
This story had a good steady plot with lots of emotions-good and sad. There was alot of Amish German words throughout the book-more than I usually read in other Amish books but it was still easy to understand and read. I can't wait to read more by this author and this series.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Buried Secrets is the second book in Ms. Cameron's newest series, Harvest of Hope. I had the opportunity to read the first one Seeds of Hope, which can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading it because it is a great book and you do learn some backstory behind Luke that I rather enjoyed.
The Amish novel offers a mystery with romance interwoven in the story. The plot and the characters were enjoyable and it was a nice read. My favorite character was Daniel. He is super sweet. I think you will like him. Overall, this is a great book to add to your Amish collection.
I give this book 4/5 stars. A favorable review was not required for my honest review. Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Buried Secrets is Book 2 in the Harvest of Hope Series by Barbara Cameron I believe I liked this Book better than Book 1 which was Seeds of Hope, you could read these as stand along but I would suggest reading them as a series as you will get some back story and enjoy it a little bit more. In this story you will see that secrets have a way of creeping back when you least expect it, so it’s always better to confront them head on, and know that with God walking by your side and of course your friends, and family you will always come through. I really enjoyed Rose and Luke’s story and I think you will as well plus if your a fan a the Cardinal then this is for sure a storyline for you. I’m looking forward to the last book in the series which is Summer’s Promise
The title had me wandering what the buried secrets was. Well, I am not going to give it away, read the book to find out. Rose moves back to her hometown after her husband death with her young son. Luke was there helping his cousin but he had gotten better so he works for Rose to get her place more livable. I really enjoyed all the characters, of course the children always add so much to a story. This is part of a series but definitely read as a stand alone book. This is book 2 so I will have to read book 1. I look forward to reading more of the series. I received an complementary copy of the book from the publisher.
Another great Amish story by Barbara Cameron Buried Secrets is book 2 in the Harvest of Hope Series. I read and reviewed book 1 (click here to read my review) I was glad to receive the offer to continue with this series.
Ms. Cameron weaves together a story/plot that keeps the reader happily engaged all the way to the end. And then some. You'll probably be a little sad to turn the last page.
I almost wished that happy ending ended with an epilogue.
This is one that the cover gives you some secrets into the story. I loved the Cardinals presence in the story.
If your a fan of Amish stories check out this series.
"Buried Secrets" is a wonderful story of God bringing two people together - Luke, a man ready to help, and Rose, a widow with a young son, who needs someone to help her restore her family's farm. Rose and Lillian are twin sisters, and their relationship is so special. Secrets will hinder the relationship between Luke and Rose unless they begin to trust each other.
Barbara Cameron's style of writing will keep you reading until the very end where you find that "Buried Secrets" is a story filled with love, sacrifice, hope, and forgiveness.
I was given a review copy by Gilead Publishing on NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Buried Secrets Is a precious story. It is an absolute joy to read. The siblings are very affectionate to each other - meaning they care for each other very much and they take care of each other as well. Rose has had a major loss twice over but she is still big hearted. Daniel helps her do that - who is Daniel? You have to find out for yourself - it is worth it. Lillian also is keeping her grounded and upbeat - she is also playing match maker - is she successful? The one thing that she does do is she trusts and loves one man - who? GOD, that's who - and HE will guide her every step. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all of the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

I really liked this story. The overall plot was predictable but that's not a bad thing. I kind of knew the ending before as it started but it's filling in all those details to make it to the end it had and there were some plot twists I even didn't see coming. The story was beautiful but it ended rather quickly. I was hoping for an afterward but maybe the volume will fill in more details. I took a long time getting to the ending because I didn't want the story to end. For me, that's a great sign of a really good book. I can't wait for the next volume to be published. Thanks Barbara for another great book!
