He may have an infamous playboy reputation, but Alexis is surprised to find out that there is more to him than meets the eye. And she likes what she sees.

But things progress in ways neither of them could have imagined, and Jake realizes that he and Alexis make a perfect mix. Can he convince her that he's ready to shake things up and give true love a shot?

Jake was the carefree bachelor of the trio of founders of the Stag Distillery and never had a reason to change. Alexis lost her fiancé mere weeks before their wedding. For a year they had corresponded, for a year Jake had been Alex’s rock, confidant and long distance best friend. Now Alex is home, still nursing her broken heart, lost in the past, the pain and the regrets of all she lost.

When Jake’s footloose approach to women threatens the distillery’s success and reputation, Alex becomes his babysitter as well as his shield against the onslaught of women who want a night with the handsome flirt, but is there more to Jake than meets the eye? Will he be the man who gives Alex a reason to look to the future once again and to let go of her past?

MAYBE FOR YOU by Nicole McLaughlin begins as a solid tale of romance budding when it is least expected and most needed by two people who have gaping holes in their lives. Alex knew what hers was, but Jake never realized he wanted more than the life he was living or maybe never let others know. Yes, he was a player, but isn’t that what people expected from him? Only with Alex was he the caring and warm person he kept hidden.

Their romance blooms slowly and by itself is warm, with Jake truly the hero. While Alex’s pain was so raw and understandable, it became a bit much, particularly as she seemed to use it to avoid living her own life or making a fresh start.

A sometimes overly dramatic love story, it still proves that with love, one can move on for a second chance at happiness with the right person, who just might be the last one others would expect!

Two people, not looking for love, find it in the most unexpected place.

Whether you are emotionally scarred or don't even realize what you looking for to fill that whole in your life, Maybe for You gives us a marvelous story about grabbing what might be right in front of you. The quintessential slow building relationship. The characters, mostly Alexis, are a bit over the top with drama and their emotional vacillations but overall it is a strong romantic read. In the end, Maybe for You rings the bell with a great story of finding that the second chance at love was what you really needed when let go of the the past.

I received this ARC copy of Maybe for You from t. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Maybe for You is set for publication August 28, 2018.

Maybe for You by Nicole McLaughlin is book Three in the Maybe for You series. This is the story of Jake Cooperon and Alexis Parker. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Alex had her life planned out with her future husband but he died before they could marry which left her lost and heartbroken. Now out of the military she working to try and start over. After building a connection with Jake she goes with him to help promote Stag Distillery. Of course Alex's brother want Jake who has causal flings/no commitments to not do so with their sister. But what happens during the road trip they plan on letting that stay there. But things don't go as planned when they attraction starts to turn into more.
Really enjoyed this sweet romance!

Maybe For You by Nicole McLaughlin

3rd in the Whiskey and Weddings series. Can be read as a standalone romance.

This book is an emotionally wringing story starting from the recovery of a lost love to friendship and then new love. Of course, complications in the relationship put added strain on the couple.

Honestly, I didn’t like the drama of it all. Yes, I conceptually understand lose and how devastating it would be. She gives up any career options for a year to exist as a part time receptionist for a family business. To dwell on things? Although her view is to avoid thinking or planning for life.
On the flip side, I fell in love with the hero. He’s not confident in his value to the business but works tirelessly for it. He’s grown tired of the casual flings that occur on the Marketing tours and continues to act and work professionally even when knocked down. And he recognizes those that just want to use him or his firm. He stands by the heroine throughout the storm of her ups and downs and lack of moving forward. Basically he is just a great guy.
In the end the two work out the issues and get their HEA.
Overall, angsty but worth the love story read.

Alexis Parker has never been lucky in love, her parents were killed in a car accident, she was brought up by her older brother Dean and his wife Amy as if she were their daughter, until the two of them separated over Dean's infertility, and then her fiancee Nate is killed only weeks before their wedding. After Nate's death she spends the final 12 months of her military career in Italy trying to make sense of her life.

Alex's brother Dean owns a whisky distillery with his two best friends TJ and Jake Cooper. Dean and TJ have recently found love but Jake is still a carefree bachelor. He is responsible for business development, promotions and marketing which usually takes the form of touring festivals and shows with an RV of promotional gifts and free whiskey. Unfortunately the distillery's instagram account and twitter feed are starting to appear more frat party than serious business.

Despite his playboy reputation when Jake comes across a crying Alex on the eve of her departure for Italy he can't help but comfort her. Over her 12 months abroad their friendship flourishes through sporadic texts - Alex feels safe telling Jake how she really feels about Nate's death and moving on.

After returning home Alex feels crushed by everyone's need to look after her and constantly check how she's doing. What better way to get away from the smothering than a two week road trip with Jake? But as their friendship segues into a friends with benefits arrangement are they really going to be able to walk away after two weeks?

I enjoyed this, I thought that there was sufficient angst and obstacles without being a ten handkerchief sob fest. Alex and Jake were both relatable and infuriating by turns - I understood the reasons why they came together, and why they pushed each other away, I even understood the reasons why each of them became angry on occasion.

Overall, despite the tragedy in Alex's past this was a life-affirming novel about second chances and the human capacity for love.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

After a slow start, and a pleasantly meandering middle, Maybe For You ended well.

Jake and Alexis forged a friendship through emails and Facebook Messenger while Alexis was stationed for a year in Italy. The friendship couldn’t have come at a better time for Alexis. Having just lost her fiancé in a helicopter crash, Jake was there for her to work through her emotions and as sounding board for her thoughts and feelings. He was a safe place to share because unlike her older brother - who co-owns a business with Jake - he didn’t feel the need to fix things for her. He just let her share, and feel all the feelings, with no judgement.

When Alexis finally comes home back to Kansas City, she’s making plans for her new life out of the military. She’s imagining a new future, one without the man she loved dearly, one she can decide all on her own. But the new job she just accepted doesn’t start for three months. With nothing to do, she decides to accompany Jake on a two-week tour of the south to peddle the Stag’s bourbon. In an RV. You don’t need me to connect the dots on how the rest of this story goes down.

I’m not usually a fan of the best friend’s younger sister trope, or the friends-to-lovers trope. Both were represented in this book. But Ms. McLaughlin never wrote any of the things that drive me bonkers about those tropes (namely, repetitive writing about how the older brother is going to hate the friend, or how the couple doesn’t want to ruin their friendship by becoming more…). Yes, when a friend, who has previously been known for his playboy antics, gets involved with the sister, there’s a legitimate concern there. This concern was expressed, but it wasn’t harped on over and over and over. There was never a mention about their friendship being ruined by getting involved. HOORAY!!! Bravo to Ms. McLaughlin for moving the story along without continuing to beat the same monotonous drum.

Also, I appreciated that while the author may have gone the cliched route with the storyline, she stayed away from the cliched reactions and the unnecessary angst. (Being intentionally vague here - don’t want to spoil anything!) While I’m a huge fan of the big gesture, there really wasn’t one here. Instead, the person who was wronged didn’t hold it against the other person when push came to shove. And I really liked it!

There was so much that worked for me in this book, but I would have liked to see the author give us more about our hero. Jake’s insecurity played a large part in who he was, and while we as the reader were privy to his feelings, I would have like to see him hash things out with Alexis. She was so open with him about her feelings, I would have like to see them spend some time dealing with his.

All in all, this was another enjoyable book by Nicole McLaughlin. She’s quickly becoming an author I can count on to write a solid, entertaining book that doesn’t annoy me by filling her pages with redundant thoughts or actions. Her dialog is great. I adore her heroes - they are manly and have strong opinions, but don’t act all alpha with bossy, grunting directives and chest pounding. The heroines are strong and relatable. You can’t ask for much more than that!

Maybe for you by Nicole McLaughlin, is the 3rd Whiskey and Weddings novel.

Alexis, parents died when she was fairly young and was raised by her brother Dean and his wife, but then they split and then also Partner was killed only weeks before they were to wed. After his death she spends her final 12 months of her military career in Italy.

This book is a friendship. to lovers, with her brothers best friend. Second chance romance, heartbreak, and moving on.

I was gifted an e arc copy to review this for an honest review.

Overall It was an ok read, it was a little too long and Liked where I thought this was leading but in the end there were a couple things that annoyed me.

A sweet, romantic and sexy story about friendship, family, heartbreak, love and moving on. A well written, in places emotional story with realistic characters.
This was my first book which I have read by this author but definitely will not be the last.

When life doesn't turn out how you planned, maybe it's time to head in a new direction. Maybe For You is a tale of heartbreaking loss, surprising new beginnings and witty dialogue. McLaughlin stages the ultimate road trip for a brokenhearted almost bride and playboy on the mend. Alexis is learning how to live again after a tragic loss. Her second chance comes in the form of a dashing coworker with a reputation for playing the field. Jake and Alexis take a business trip that changes the course of their lives when their hearts become fair game for love. Maybe For You is a sentimental tale that brings out the laughter and perhaps a few tears.

I love the setting for this series - a distillery in KC that has a room used for weddings et al. Stag Distillery - owned and operated by three guys who were of course single when the series started. The first two books took care of Dean and TJ, now it is Jake's turn to meet his fate. Of course like most books, the road to true happiness is set with land mines and in this case it is Alex's memories of her dead fiance that was killed just weeks before their wedding. Sure it has been a year but she is dealing with a lot of emotions and guilt that she is still alive (even though she was no where near the helicopter crash) and living life.

The great thing about this relationship is that it starts off as a friendship over email, text, etc since Alex is in Italy and Jake is in the states. I firmly believe that a good relationship should be based in friendship first because it will get you over the tough times. Now that doesn't mean that Jake and Alex don't have issues because they do in spades! She still has her hang up over Nate and Jake has some of his own baggage from his childhood. And then there is Dean, Alex's brother and Jake's friend and business partner. Dean is a bit protective of his younger sister which can cause problems if he doesn't remember that Alex is an adult. Thankfully Charlotte (Dean's fiancee') steps in to calm the waters.

I enjoyed the story between Jake and Alex and was surprised at how one sided it appeared. Jake was there for Alex but was Alex there for Jake? Sometimes. BUT Jake wasn't as open as he could have been about what he was feeling. That's a guy for you. However, he did open up more especially when he realized he knew what he wanted in life and that was Alex.

There were some great scenes with Nate's family - he may be gone but they still welcome Alex in their home and their lives because while she wasn't able to marry Nate, they had a long relationship before his death and they considered her family no matter what.

I also enjoyed the witty comments from Joel, Dean's father, and his sage advice to Alex.

This is a fun series to read and while you don't have to read in order it is suggested since the characters are intertwined in the books and it makes more sense than reading them out of order.

Maybe For You is Nicole McLaughlin’s third book in her Whiskey and Weddings series set in Kansas City, Kansas. This story addresses the third distillery owner, Jake Cooper, head of marketing and internet presence. At 32, Jake is well known as a swinging bachelor. His road trips promoting their brand are somewhat notorious, to the point there has been a complaint.

When co-owner Dean Troyer’s sister, a military veteran, returns home for a brief stint before beginning a new CIA position, she readily asks to go with Jake on a marketing mission. What she does not state is that Jake has been her touchstone over the past year since her fiancé, Nate, was killed in the downing of a helicopter. Over that year Jake and Alex wrote regularly through messenger and his calm presence and strong support are what helped Alexis get to the point she is now.

As Alexis volunteers for the marketing trip, her brother swears his friend to protect his younger sister. Making this vow, Jake and Dean may have very different definitions. Because it isn’t long before Jake and Alex become a friends with benefits couple. Alex is gearing up for her new CIA position, not looking for a lifetime commitment, just a pleasant dalliance to help her over a rough spot. Neither are looking for love, but what they find is a new world opening to them.

I have enjoyed everything I have read by Ms. McLaughlin. They are steeped in personal warmth and have threads of current headlines woven throughout. The characters are rich and well drawn. The relationships are deep and true. These stories are intricately stitched together and bring wonderful folks into the reader’s purview. I do recommend this book.

Maybe For You
Whiskey and Weddings #3
Nicole McLaughlin

McLaughlin’s #3 in her Whiskey and Weddings trilogy is a poignant friend to lover tale about love, loss and second chances. Starring the Stag distillery playboy co- owner Jake and Alex, the returning vet and younger sister of another owner, Dean (Maybe I Do) who has experienced more than her share of loss in her young life. The road-trip in the Stag RV was wonderfully done and showcases the burgeoning relationship between Jake and Alex beautifully. The storyline is emotional, the landscapes are impressive and even though the focus is on Alex’s loss for most of the read it’s Jake that’s the real stand-up, stand-out in this tale. The read stands well on its own but as in all series/trilogies its best read in order.
SUMMARY:
A year after losing her fiancé Alex Parker is finally ready to make a new start, she’s left the military and has a great job that starts in a few months lined up. Until then she’s heading home to KC where her brother and his two partners own a popular distillery and wedding venue. One thing that’s helped her over the past year is the friendship that she developed with Jake Cooper, one of her brother’s partners via text messages, so when the opportunity arises for her to accompany Jake on a marketing road trip she jumps at the chance. Not realizing it would wake up things she thought would stay dormant forever, things like her libido.
Jake has taken some criticism about his playboy status lately especially while on the marketing road trips so he’s happy to have Alex come along on this one. Maybe she’ll keep him out of trouble and it’ll be nice to spend time with the woman he’s gotten to know so well over the last year via their text message friendship. Plus it never hurts to have a pretty woman along to keep things interesting. He just never imagined just how interesting things could get.

Loved this wonderful love story. Loved how Alexis dealt with grief of losing Nate, her fiancé, just before the wedding. Loved how Jake helped her through that tough time, just by offering his friendship and being a good listener.

Jake was such an amazing guy. Yup! super handsome, too! He and Alex didn't look like they'd make a good match at first glance. She was super smart while he had learning disability. His family hoped he could just graduate from high school and make a decent living. But he worked hard and used his gift of interpersonal relation to become successful. Not sure if his family ever let him know that they were proud of him!

Loved when Alexis accompanied Jake on a Stag cross-country promotional tour. That turned into a romantic getting-to-know-the-real-you tour for both of them. I felt like I was along for the ride from Kansas City-Nashville- & yes! Romantic New Orleans! and other beautiful cities!

Such a gorgeous & happy ending. Sharing one of my favorite scenes:

The sight of the shiny white SUV made her wonder. What kind of car had he gotten himself in place of the jeep Wrangler. . . a black two-door ... something. . . It was clearly several years old. Not junky, but so far removed from the chick magnet, bachelor ride that the Wrangler was . . .

"What are you doing? You feeling okay? . . .

She instantly set her water glass down and walked into his arms. "Yes, I'm okay. I'm just sad."

"Why?" he asked, wrapping his arms around her.

"Your car."

His gravelly chuckle had her looking up at him. "You don't dig it?"

"Why did you get rid of the Wrangler?" . . .

"You're more important than that, Alex. I'd never been so excited to buy a car in my life than when I drove that car off the lot for you."

Her lips parted. "You're unbelievable, Jake Cooper."

I loved the relationship between Alex and Jake in this book. Both characters have had a lot of pain and angst in their lives. Alex lost her fiance in the military. Yes, it pretty much rules her life. It appears a lot of readers have problems with that. My husband was friends with a couple he met overseas while stationed in Kosovo. A couple of years after they married he was killed in Extortion 17. He was the helicopter pilot. I can tell you, that pain and agony does totally take over the lives of the one left behind. Seven years later, a big chunk of the wife's life is still dealing with the loss. Therefore, it was no surprise to me than Alex was still a big mess. Her life, love and expectation for the future were blown to bits.
Jake had his own issues and pain. He certainly didn't feel like his partners were ever going to fully accept him as an equal contributing factor in the business. Especially not after one of them called him out for his actions. As he fights his attraction to Alex, he also finds himself drawn to her more. He's been warned off by her brother (one of his partners), but the feelings between them may just be too much to ignore. He's totally in, but she's determined to take a job out of state and keep him at a distance. Is there any way they can have a future?
I think this was my favorite book of the series. The insecurities of Jake really drew me to him and had me pulling for him the whole way. The compassion I felt for Alex made me determined that she find her HEA--with Jake. A very rewarding read!

My Thoughts:

I read the first two books in this series and although I am basically a historical romance fan I did enjoy the reads. This one however never really held my attention.

It's just another friends to lovers scenario and was a bit dry. It's like warmed over toast. It just gets hard to digest and is not nearly as appealing as the start of this series was.
I did read it but just basically went through the motions as this book never grabbed my complete attention.
The entire series although linked by some of the characters can be read as standalone titles. This one in fact may be more enjoyable if you had not read the first two books.

I gave this book 3.25 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization. These are characters we have previously met in the first two books and a stab at giving them their own story

I received this book as a complimentary digital ARC by invitation from the publisher. This in no way affected my opinion of this title. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Alexis Parker, sister of Dean, is back stateside after a year-long deployment in Italy. For the past year she has been in mourning for her fiance, Nate, who was killed in a helicopter accident just weeks before their wedding.

Coming back to her family and her brother and his two partners in the distillary, she still hasn't really faced her grief and the loving couples all around her are like salt in a wound.

When Jake goes on a two-week tour with the Whiskey RV to check out some festivals and try to drum up some more business for their product, Alex decides to go along.

Her brother is horrified and lets Jake know up front that nothing better happen with his baby sister. But how long can a girl hold out stuck in close quarters with a hunky and so sweet guy?  Not too long I can tell you!

I have so enjoyed this series. There is something damaged in all of these characters but they all have learned to lean on each other and to not let the past define who they want to be in the present.

This was an emotional and sad and happy and hopeful story of forever love and what makes a family.

Well Done!

Not only is this a story about finding love again after tragedy and grief, this is also about finding the courage to remain alive each day. It is about finding your place in the world and your purpose.
Alex is mourning her love who died shortly before their wedding. She is also mourning the plans they had made for life after their tour of duty commitment was complete. Making new plans feels like a betrayal.

Jake is the only unattached male of the trio of distillery owners. While he tries to be a gentleman, respectful of women, being unattached he hasn't had to shy away from the advances of women. His job just happened to put him in the crosshairs. Because Alex happens to be the sister of one of his partners, his best friend's sister, and is mourning her fiance, she is vulnerable. Jake would never take advantage... unless the situation was irresistible.

Told with class and honorability, this is a friends to lovers story that goes much deeper.
No one is taken advantage of here, and emotions and possibilities are dealt with honestly and compassionately. I enjoyed the characters and how their relationships changed over time.

Boy, the name of this book is very apropos. I have not read the two previous books of this series so I can say with certainty that this is a standalone, but there was enough info given, that I felt that i could grasp the previous books and how they related to this one. Loved Jake as a reformed womanizer, and actually liked him much better than Alex. I liked and understood her through the first half of this book, but frankly 3/4 of the way through I just wanted her to get out of her head. She took forever to get with the program which I thought was ridiculous. This was a fun read, it was very enjoyable, and other than Alex being awfully slow to get it together, I can recommend this book.

I absolutely loved this trilogy! Honestly, all three of the books in the series were so enjoyable, sweet, and hopeful. I was charmed by the guys, friends and co-owners of The Keg, distillery and wedding venue, and wanted to befriend the girls. I enjoyed the dynamics between the various couples and the healthy relationships they embodied. I also appreciated the camaraderie and closeness between the female counterparts.

There were times in this particular story when Alex came across as a bit overly emotional and needy, and mention of her mourning became somewhat repetitive, but it was understandable as well. This story and the previous two, were a delight to read and I’m so sad to see this series end.

I absolutely adored this book. I read it in one day because I couldn't put it down.

Alex and Jake are such great, complex characters. McLaughlin really lets Alex ride an emotional roller coaster and she grows and takes steps back just like a real person in her place would. Jake does such a good job bouncing off Alex and letting her be a fully thought out character while still bringing his own story and development to the table.

I've loved this whole series but this is by far my favorite. The characters are fantastic, the story line is so good, and the plot line is just perfect.

This was a great read. There is a sweet romance that develops after starting out as a fling. It's been a year since Alexis lost her fiance Nate and while she wants to move on and start over it's been hard. Now she's back from Italy and has a new job lined up that will start in a couple of months. To pass the time she's working at Stag Distillery. Hitting the road with Stag's resident playboy Jake Cooper wasn't how she expected to spend her time but being with Jake and experiencing life again may be exactly what she needs.

This is a wonderfully done story and I loved watching how both Jake and Alexis change through their journey. I highly recommend this one.

I liked Alex and Jake. I got a bit irritated with Alex in parts of the story, but I liked them overall. While Alex is grieving, Jake becomes her best friend. That is what she needs. After she comes back home, things change and Jake wants more. He won't pressure Alex for more because he knows that she has her life plan and he doesn't want to interfere with that. Alex has lost too many loved ones and will not open herself up for that again. When circumstances change, will Alex decide to open her heart again or will Jake just have to love her from afar?

Maybe for You is, in parts, an emotional story. Alex and her fiancé Nathan were in the military and due to get married, unfortunately he was killed in a helicopter accident just before the wedding, which understandably is heartbreaking and life altering. Dean is Alex's brother who owns a distillery in Kansas with his two best friends, TJ and Jake. As the story begins, Alex is preparing to leave for Italy to do a tour for the military so she can get away from the memories, and hopefully clear her head after losing her fiancé, so she decides to attend a party at her brothers distillery before she leaves, which is where she meets Jake. Alex and Jake become texting buddies while she is away, and the two become very good friends, she confides in him with her feelings, fears and milestones she makes while in Italy. When she returns is where the friendship becomes complicated.

I found this story to be pretty good in the beginning, but after awhile of Alex's insecurities and whining, it became just irritating. Top that with Jake all of a sudden having issues with his past, (which came out from left field) I started to lose interest in the characters because of the continual complaining about insecurities. I get that the loss of someone close is difficult to deal with at times, but to start throwing in other "issues" from her past, then Jakes, it became redundant, whinny, and didn't add anything to the story. I didn't care for the way Alex reacted to the situation she and Jake ended up with, completely turned me off, then topped off with more unfounded complaining that just leaves you with a really bad taste in your mouth. Loved the premise of the book, it was the "stuff" in the middle and beyond that turned this into a how much longer is this going to go on so we can move on and get to the heart of the story. I think the book could have been 75 - 100 pages shorter, might have made it a bit easier on the story and to get through without as much unfounded drama. Book was just so so for me.

This is an achingly sweet and heartwarming story. Jake is a sweet, adorable and special guy. Alex is a smart, stubborn and vulnerable woman. They developed a friendship while she was overseas mourning her dead fiance, then progressed to lovers on a work road trip. And while he starts to have feelings for her, she is so focused on moving forward that she refuses to even consider having any type of relationship with him. An unexpected twist turns their lives upside down and has him fighting to keep her. This is the second book that I have read by this author, and I love that the men have personally issues that they overcome, and are the sweetest guys with huge hearts. I definitely recommend adding this series to your TBR list.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Jake is an honest man, “Alex, there was nothing gentlemanly about me kissing you. I wanted it. I want it again..." I liked the gooey feelings Jake gets with his woman, "...stepping forward, she reached up and kissed his cheek. “Thank you.” Suddenly feeling protective and— what else, he couldn’t say— just weird, he grabbed her hand and pulled her into his chest." I liked this book, I really loved Jake.

Maybe for You broke my heart. I should have known that this book was going to make me cry by the first chapter. Alexis's pain over Nate's death was gut-wrenching. It came off the pages in waves. My heart broke for her. She needed to start healing. The first step to doing that was her taking the post in Italy. What I liked is that the author didn't detail Alexis's time in Italy. All I knew is that when she came home, she had somewhat healed and was starting to live again. Which was great and set the tone for the rest of the book.

I liked Alexis. What I liked is that she was human. She wasn't perfect. She made mistakes. She had the same insecurities. It made for a more believable character. I connected to her. Mainly in the last half of the book. Everything that she felt, I felt. She did have her flaws. She kept pushing Jake away. She kept him at arm's length. She was confused about what she felt about him. I loved it!!!

I liked Jake. He was exactly what he presented. The only thing is that he liked the ladies and the ladies liked him. I did think that it was messed up that the father of a grown woman complained to his business partners about Jake sleeping with his daughter. I also found it a little creepy. I liked that he was there for Alexis no matter what. I did agree with what he said when Alexis found out what she did. He wasn't perfect. He had a temper. He had a rep as a playboy. But it was those imperfections that made his characters.

I loved that the romance in this book wasn't Instalove. I don't have anything against Instalove but it gets old in romance novels. So, when I see a novel where the relationship is built up, I love it. So, yes, I was happy with the romance in this book. Jake and Alexis had a year to build a relationship via text. For some people, that might not be enough but Jake and Alexis talked every day for a year. A relationship was built. I also liked how the author chose to have Alexis and Jake overcome their relationship issues. They fought like normal people but they always ended up talking it out.

Like the romance, the chemistry between Jake and Alexis grew during the first few chapters. I did have one small complaint. Not even a complaint, an observation. But how did she not feel hin when she was grinding up against him? I mean, its pretty obvious. Not talking from experience or anything...lol. Anyways, that chemistry leads to some red-hot sex. I needed a fan after the first scene. The other sex scenes, while not as hot, were still hot in their own sense. But nothing was like that first scene.

Now, I haven't read the other books. The author did a great job at keeping the other characters, Dean and Charlotte/T.J. and Jen, in the background. I liked it. So yeah, the author did a great job at keeping them in the background where they belonged. Saying that, though, the secondary characters did make the book. If I had to have favorites, it would be Charlotte and Regina. Charlotte because she didn't take crap from anyone. Regina because she was sweet and understanding.

The secondary storylines added depth to the book. Instead of taking over a book and leaving questions, they added to it. The author was able to tie them to the main storyline by the end of the book.

The end of the book was fantastic. I won't lie, I had tears running down my face. It was that moving and a perfect ending for this book!! Also, the epilogue made me cry too. Ugly crying for the last half of the book FTW!!

What I liked about Maybe for You:

A) Alexis's healing

B) The romance between Alexis and Jake

C) The epilogue

What I disliked about Maybe for You:

A) Alexis's keep pushing Jake away

B) Jake's temper

C) The other sex scenes weren't as hot as the first one.

I gave Maybe for You a 4-star rating. The characters were relatable and the plotline was engaging. I did think that the sex scenes, after the first one, lacked some of the heat of the first one. I also didn't like Alexis pushing Jake away many times. But other than that, it was a good read.

I gave Maybe for You an Adult rating. There is sex. There is language. There is some very mild violence. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Maybe for You. I would also recommend it to family and friends.

I would like to thank St. Martin's Paperbacks, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Maybe for You.

All opinions stated in this review of Maybe for You are mine.

Whiskey and weddings. How good do they go to together? If you are like me, then you would say," very well" and you, my friend, are wonderful and correct. Although I would love to talk about whiskey and how great it is, we are here to talk about book three in the whiskey and wedding series titled, Maybe for You. This is book three in this series and it evolves around Dean's sister, Alex, and his friend and business partner, Jake. I read book one and I must say that this was much better than Charlotte and Dean's relationship. Yawn!! Anyways, if you read book one then you know that Alex fiancée died in a helicopter accident and she went to Italy for a year with the military. While away, her and Jake became very close and he helped her with her grief for such a tragic loss. Jake is the co-owner of The Stag along with Dean and T.J and his part of the team is marketing and social media. He drives a RV around the country to promote the product and to acquire contracts. Alex decides to go with Jake on this tour to get her mind off of things and to escape the love nest of her brother and fiancée, Charlotte. Spoiler alert if you haven't' read book one. Sorry!!

I am quite sure you know what happens when two attractive people gets trapped in a confined space, right? Friction and toe curling, duh!! This is basically what happens between Alex and Jake, but here is the shocker, they only want to rub skin for the trip and after it is over they will go their separate ways. Well, of course that will go well!! It is a cliché and I knew what was gonna happen before the characters did.!!!

This book was okay and their relationship was a bit entertaining with a dash of chemistry. When I say dash, I really do mean dash. They had a friendship before they began to have sex and they just did not have the kind of chemistry that I was looking for. I really dislike stories where characters act like a couple, but goes out of their way of making it known that they are not a couple. Now don't get me wrong, I liked the fact that Jake was her ear and helped her through her loss, but I was looking for a different kind of chemistry. Right around the 70% mark, was when it got interesting and this story gave me a surprise that I was not expecting. Even though the ending felt a bit rushed, I enjoyed this story and its characters. One other thing that annoyed me was the huge amount of monologue. This was the same issue in book one and it made the story too wordy. The author totally skipped over details that would have made this story a little bit better and there was a lot to be desired for these characters. Alex and Jake had more chemistry than Charlotte and Dean, that's for sure!! I recommend with just a cup of tea, no blanket required. It was really hard for me to rate this because it wasn't quite a four, but it wasn’t a 3 star neither. I want to say 3.5 and since most places don’t have such a rating system, I will give it 4 stars. Barely.!

I love the covers of the books in this series, they are as romantic as the stories within. I didn’t expect that the remaining bachelor in the Stag Distillery partners, Jake, would end up with Dean’s baby sister, but was happy to read about Alexis’ HEA. In the first book of the series, Dean and Charlotte’s story, we read about Alexis’ marriage plans, and then the tragic death of her fiancee Nate. Then Alexis decides to continue with the plans she had with Nate and leaves on assignment to Italy for one year. This book starts when she arrives back in the US.

Alexis is still dealing with her bereavement and trying to find her new normal. She has accepted a job with the CIA in Washington DC, but comes to spend a few months in Kansas City with her brother and their group of friends. During her year abroad, she messaged frequently with Jake and they became best friends. Jake gave her the listening ear she needed as she dealt with her feelings of bereavement, and found herself again. She is so happy to be back home and be able to spend time with Dean, his father Joel and especially Jake. She accepts a temporary job as receptionist in the distillery and also assists Jake in his work promoting their product and traveling around to festivals. They get close and eventually their friendship turns into something else.

Alexis sometimes feels survivor’s guilt, she wants to search new horizons in her professional career and she feels that this job with the CIA is what she should do. Jake has a reputation as a ladies man, and has an issue about not being very intelligent. He has somewhat of an inferiority complex and resents any remarks about his lack of acuity. They embark on a fling that is supposed to be temporary but the support they get from each other and the feelings that start to arise, start to change the rules of the game.

This was a great friends to lovers story. I loved how Jake changes from a player to a partner, how he wants to face all their obstacles on the way to establish themselves as a couple. His willingness to face Dean and shoulder all responsibilities is so sweet. He is very considerate of Alex, gives her space when she needs to grieve, is a good sport with Nate’s family, and a great sounding board when Alex needs to revisit her thoughts. Alex is open about her feelings, and communicates very openly with Jake. I liked how she declared an intention every day in her diary, very healthy.

Very well written, great pace, full of warm feelings, consideration and friendliness, this was a feel-good book about family, loss, reunion and overcoming bereavement in a healthy manner. I loved the family times with Jake’s family, Nate’s family, and the Stag group.
