Book Name: That’s a Heart- Handle with care
Author Name: Priyanka Bansal
Format: Kindle
No of Pages: 90
Blurb: The blurb of the book is written in a compact way with highlighting the gist of the book. After reading the blurb, I can say that it is capable enough to make the reader turn the pages of the book. So, it is neat & clean indeed.
Cover: The front cover of the book is eye catching no doubt, but it is too simple according to the content of the book. Cover design could have been better I will say, but as it is justifying the ‘Heart’ element of the book, so it is good so far.
Title: The title of the book is unique and of course a catchy one. After hearing the title for the first time, I decided to opt for this book because it made me curious to know what is there to be taken care in our heart which we are not aware of already. Is there anything new that has been discussed in the book? So to satisfy my quest after reading the tile, I picked this book up. I think, more or less, the title will have the same impact on other avid readers too. As it is complementing the inner content and theme of the book, hence I consider this appropriate.
Language & narration: Language of the book is lucid & simple enough to comprehend. Narrating style of the author maintained a simple flow in all the stories till the end, and perfect portrayal of emotions & with a bit of simple humor too can be pointed out in the book overall. The authoritative narration of the stories made the book a pleasant read. Hindi words are there too, but only a limited number of times. So, easy & connectable language is a plus point for the readers.
Plot: This book contains 8 short stories of people from different background; but they have one simple similarity (at least I felt this while comparing the characters) and that is mature attitude towards life and having practical sense about relationships (in some way or the other). So basically, talking about the storyline & plot, I can say that, this book is an amalgamation of love, relationship bonding and phases of life itself. Unconditional true bonding of love is the backbone of the book that is directly connected to the heart only. Author is succeeded in putting a mature view into life and relationships through the eyes of the characters and ultimately this book is consists of lots of learnable messages about our relationships.
Characterization: All the characters of the 8 short stories that are enlisted in the book have been portrayed well and relatable enough to connect. Be it any character, they are justified to their small but impactful roles till the end of every story. One noticeable thing about the characters are, they are as real as any of character we come across in our daily life around us, so I never felt that, the author has put something extraordinary in them or they are flawless like imaginary characters in stories. Let’s get familiar with the name of the characters mentioned in the book overall- Rini, Dhruv, Ruhi, Anaya, Russel, Rohit, Pratap, Abhinav, Maya Aunty, Kiara, Jyoti, Shivam, Nitesh, Reena, Shamita, Arnav, Latika, Aman, Ranjan, Rajat, Diya, Rohan, Ayesha.
Theme: Love, Family bonding, Life, Relationship.
Contents & My Verdict: As I mentioned earlier, this book contains 8 short stories helping us to have a better view life & relationships from different stages. Each story has a different flavor regarding love and every story is written with a fruitful message of positivity which makes us realize that love is all about practicality & maturity; of course the connection depends on the both of the hearts but to create & maintain a healthy and strong bonding, both will have to work and think in sensible way with keep mind wide open. Whether it the touching journey of ‘Dhruv – Rini’ in “Just for you my love” or the heart wrenching saga of love and sacrifice between ‘Rajat – Diya’ in “The last quest”; whether it is the unconditional pure emotional journey of genuine care & concern of Abhinav for Maya Aunty & Kiara in “Guardian Angel” or a sensible act of maturity & patience in togetherness between ‘Shamita – Arnav’ in “The beginning”- be it any story, but main motive of the author to put the both side of the coin in front is successful and I appreciate the efforts that the author generated by heart for everyone once or is in love. Except the 4 stories I mentioned above the other 4 stories of the book are- “The dumb me”, “Immortal”, “When life happens”, “Dear spouse”.
Authoress Priyanka Bansal has presented the fact that if there is true love in heart then it must be taken care of. Relationships are life small plants in our heart; as a plant needs to be watered everyday to make it grow healthy gradually, similarly in our life, our relationships are also need to be worked on with care, patience, trust, faith, maturity, practicality, sensible way, with mutual dependence, and understanding; only in this way, a heart can be saved from being scatters into pieces, only in this way, a broken relationship can mend the pieces together and get the shape again, only in this way, a heart can be healed from previous scars, because when it comes to heart, handling things maturely is the only way to solve the problem. A moment of patience in a moment of anger can save a thousand of regrets…
Pure, genuine, unconditional love, care, concern for partner, pain, sacrifice, happiness, trust, understanding- everything is portrayed in those 8 stories beautifully and aptly. This emotional rollercoaster ride of love & relationships will make the reader to think about the perspective of love in a different aspect. I loved reading the book and will be looking forward to the next work from the same author.
My favorite line from the book: “When there are differences, we need not always complicate things. At times, doing a few things the way others feel comfortable, can resolve issues.”
Recommendation: I would love to recommend this book to every avid reader out there who believes in true love and thinks that relationships are need to be cherished from heart. Any love readers, be it any kind of age, can surely give this book a shot. This book is definitely a time worthy read with a long lasting impact in heart and mind. Thank you.
