Riley is the last book of a series of 5 books. I'm actually feeling a bit sad to no longer be able to hear about these wonderful men who became brothers. I felt like this book was a bit rushed that's why I gave it 4 stars. I'm actually a big fan of this authors work.
Riley is a detective who has helped the dream team of private investigators. He has been asked to join them full time but love being a detective. He decided it wasn't best for him at the moment.
Emily a detective from Staten island needed Riley's help. No one in her precinct believed her theory of another Jack the Ripper copycat on the prowl. It was nice to see a female detective be involved in this series.

Riley is the final installment in the New York City's Finest series by Christopher Harlan and even though it is sad that this has come to an end, it has been one action packed adventure with these characters. This story takes us on an intense journey as Riley assists another detective in solving Jack the Ripper copycat murders and also trying to find that one person who he can share his life with. When Riley meets Sam by a chance meeting chemistry and an attraction he has never felt spark between these two. Their story is full of suspense, action, angst and a huge dose of sexual chemistry that you will be left feeling totally satisfied at the end of this series.

A Fine Finish
There is a copy cat killer on the loose. He is replicating the crimes of Jack the Ripper. With Riley taking the lead the men of New York's Finest come together to solve the gruesome murders and bring peace back to Staten Island.
As always Christopher Harlen's gift for strong characters and sharp conversation propel the story to it's dazzling conclusion. Oh yes, pizza is of course a strong supporting character.

What an epic way to end an amazing series. It’s always a joy to revisit New York’s boroughs, but this one is a little bittersweet, as Christopher Harlan concludes this stunning series. I have thoroughly loved what Christopher has delivered with his words in this entire series. Again, he gives you a special preview glimpse of not necessarily the end, but what may happen along the way in the opening. Riley and Samantha (Sam) will have you wanting to share their journey. It’s a romance that has wonderful, witty and sarcastic banter which will have you laughing yet it’s blended with beautiful tender moments. Both these characters just gel.
Like any good series, familiar characters are reoccurring! The team will support Riley anyway they can, using their strengths to find a sadistic, serial killer. While Riley has thoroughly enjoyed his time helping his colleagues… he still loves being a detective. It’s a job that while challenging and satisfying, also leaves him mired in awfulness. He is wanting more than just the job. He wants someone to love and bring light to his life. Somehow, those techie dating apps just don’t quite live up to there intended purpose.
Then, don’t you find… it’s the randomness of life that brings someone into his life that will change his entire life. Coffee, long lines, patience and Samantha... but with the good comes something really bad. He is called to Staten Island, into the bowels this forlorn borough, to consulate on a case that defies evil in it’s depravity.
A gripping story, sexy tenderness, witty dialogue and a dramatic suspense case to make your heart race… while leading you to the conclusion of this series. You will want to definitely keep reading, Riley and Samantha, and the their new friends/team, will captivate you, as they take you to the end.
Note: While each story can be read as stand alone… my recommendation would be to read the entire series, to fully appreciate the characters and how they have got you to the end.

Christopher Harlan’s New York City’s Finest series is one of my favorites and I am sorry to see it come to an end. “Riley” is the final installment and Christopher has given us another winner. Each book in the series follows a member of law enforcement working in one of the five boroughs of New York City. Riley is a Homicide detective in the Bronx who is asked to assist with a serial murder case on Staten Island. He is meticulous, extremely intelligent and has one of the highest closing rates in the NYPD. He is best friends with Calem, Jesse, Quinn and Noah from the other books in the series and they often help each other with their respective cases.
Riley is secure and content with his career, but he has yet to meet the one woman who he could share his life with. It is hard dating someone in law enforcement, and it takes a special woman to accept the long hours and dangerous cases. One morning while waiting in line for coffee, Riley noticed a beautiful woman standing next to him. When he gazed into her sparkling green eyes he felt a connection that he had never experienced before. Her name was Samantha, but she told him to call her ‘Sam’. She had an intoxicating smile, smelled like strawberries and is easy to talk to. Riley is positive he is dreaming but when he asked her out to dinner, she said, “I’d love to.”
How will Riley and Sam get along on their date and will they have more in common than either of them realized?
Can Riley help solve the case on Staten Island, or will he need to ask his friends for help?
I feel as if I am losing a best friend with the end of this series!! I love how Christopher weaves suspense with romance and he always realistically portrays the importance of law enforcement in society. I am very excited to see what Christopher has in store for us next!!

Don't you just love it when an author finishes a series and neatly sews up all those storylines into a cohesive tapestry? Buuut, don't you just hate it when you know the series is ending? That is the dilemma with Riley, the final book in Christopher Harlan's 5 part New York City's Finest series. I crushed on Calem, got jazzed on Jesse, fell absolutely in love with bad boy, inked up Quinn, was knocked out by Noah, and am revved by Riley. He is friends with all the guys from the previous books and it is nice to catch up with their lives here.
Riley is a homicide detective from the Bronx and is known for his meticulous attention to detail, garnering him one of the highest closing rates in the 5 boroughs. He is asked to investigate a series of gruesome murders on Staten Island and he dares to breathe the words, serial killer.
Riley is content with his life, but he is a little envious of his friends who have all partnered up with their dream women. Remember that saying: "It will come when you aren't looking for it"? Right. He meets Sam waiting in an endless coffee line. He looks into her sparkling green eyes and feels a connection, takes a chance and asks her to dinner. She accepts. Will he be able to devote the time he wants/needs to his burgeoning relationship with Sam? Will he be forced to call upon his friends Calem, Jesse, Quinn, and Noah to help him solve these vicious murders?
I am so sad to see this series end; I don't want to give up my book boyfriends! Christopher has written a series that blends drama, intrigue, danger, smart comedy, and simmering romance. The author once mentioned that he felt quite uncomfortable writing sex scenes. Well Christopher, you keep getting better and better (and more creative) with the romance! I can't WAIT to dive into your upcoming series and meet my newest boyfriend!

It wasn't just a kiss, it was The Kiss. The mother of all kisses. The kissing bully that shoved all of the weaker kisses down on the playground."
I love Riley! He's not your typical self-tortured hot cop. The one that pushes women away because the thought of leaving her a widow at some point makes him unworthy of love. No, Riley wants love. He wants marriage. He knows it will take work, but he wants it just the same. So sweet. And hot. Not to mention he's one heck of a detective.
Riley has been called in by a Staten Island detective, Emily Curtis, to help her solve a rash of brutal murders happening in the area. The killer is mimicking Jack The Ripper, and if the pattern holds true, they only have days to stop the next one. Working hard to catch a killer is one thing. Trying to juggle a new relationship at the same time is another. Samantha is everything he could want, and she understands and accepts his job and the dangers that come with it. But, will she still be there when this case is over? Can he find a way to have both things he loves - his job AND Sam?
Samantha has found the perfect match in Riley. He's handsome, sweet, and dedicated. Growing up with her detective father, she understands Riley more than most women would. But, he's closed off. He won't talk to her about his job and the incredible weight he carries. She saw what that type of attitude did to her parents, and she won't settle for it in her own relationships. Should she stay and fight for Riley, showing him that he can trust her with his burdens. Or, should she cut her losses before she falls to hard for him. Honestly, it might be too late for that last one.
This is the final book in the New York City's Finest series. I'm so sad to see it end. All of these books and the characters hold a special place in my heart. At the same time, I'm excited to see what Christopher Harlan has in store for us next. I have loved everything he's written thus far, and I'm looking forward to his new ventures!!

This is the 5th and final book in this series that follows cops from New York's five different Burroughs, the cases that bring them together and the women that love them. Riley is a highly regarded homicide detective who finds himself in a bit of a dating rut so he gives online dating a try, a la his friend Noah. However, he hopes to avoid the crazy cult-like ladies that his friend encountered. Date #1 definitely does not go as planned, but a chance meeting the next day at the local coffee shop has his hopes rising again. At the same time, he is drawn into a possible serial killer case on Staten Island which resembles the infamous killings of another murderer. Riley has to figure out the next move of the killer before they strike again, but must enlist the help of those he trusts the most. At the same time, he must keep his new detective partner safe, as well as explore the new relationship he has began with the woman, Samantha, at the coffee shop. Will Riley be able to stop the killer in time? Or will he meet his end at the hands of a deranged criminal and never be able to share his life with the woman who is quickly becoming his everything? Definitely check out this story, I loved it, but do yourself a favor and read the first four books as they all build on each other!

The last in the 'New York City's Finest' Series "Riley" has to be my favorite out of all of these fantastic books. Though each and every one of these books was amazing in their own way, this one brings everything together for a wickedly good finale - though sadly I am sadden that it is all coming to an end. These characters have a way of growing on you and make you not want to put the book down, keeping the pages turning till the very end.
Riley is the last to join the crew in this series but is in no way less important as any of the others. As a Homicide Detective he is dedicated to bringing justice to those that died and left behind. Extremely intelligent, dedicated and has a high closing rate within the NYPD he always finds time to help out his friends with their cases too. This story brings him to seeking justice for the Staten Island murders.
But with all of this going on Riley still wants what we all want. Companionship. In walk Samantha. Will she be the one? Can she stick around with all that Riley does? Only time will tell to see if one can solve brutal murders, catch a killer and still find time to fall in love.
You will love this book and the others before it. A must read for sure.

The fifth and final installment of the NYC's Finest series and I feel like this book just really fell flat when compared to the first four books. The last chapter wrapped up the series nicely. There were some comedic elements to the book, like Riley's dates, and of course the rest of the gang was there. Maybe if Riley's story had been part of The Network, or the book had been longer, or came before the guys started going after The Network this would have all worked out better. It felt very disconnected to the rest of the series. I love Riley and Samantha as characters, but their relationship was too rushed, not enough character development for me. Riley and Emily's partnership/friendship just awkward. Also as each male was introduced to us in the series they got a more active role in the series and I felt like our past heroes in this story were barely even tertiary characters.
If you've read the first four books, than yes, you definitely should read this. I hate that this is what I wrote, but this is me being honest. I've reviewed every one of the books in the series and gave mostly four star reviews and I've enjoyed them all, but this one just wasn't for me. (I'm sorry)

Excellent wrap up to a great series!
I struggled with the character development (and lack of) in books 3 & 4. However, as I got into book 5, "Riley," I began to see that maybe the problem was my interpretations of what these characters would be like from books 1&2. Maybe I made incorrect assumptions & let them cloud my view.
Or perhaps, the characters weren't developed well in those books, but I have to say that Mr. Harlan certainly took care of the problem with not just the 3 primary characters in "Riley" but also with the other guys and a few of the girls, too.
The finale is rich in character development, setting ambiance, scene, & storyline content and flow.
My only complaint would be that it seems like it missed the last pass through by the editor. There were a few glaring mistakes, like calling Emily, Samantha and autocorrect substituting entirely wrong words, that haven't appeared in the other books.
Over all:
"Riley" = 5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
"NYC Finest" series = 5 Stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This installment of the NY City’s Finest series involves Riley who we met in the last story and his love interest Samantha, who is a spitfire. Their banter was full of chemistry and so funny. Their back and forth had me laughing. Just as good, if not more so, is their attraction to each other. I happen to love the way they met. Riley after having such a bad experience with a woman he met on a dating site is starting to doubt if he will meet the one. He meets Sam in a coffee shop and they strike up a conversation while not so patiently waiting in a long line. Their relationship after that moves rather quickly.
Then Riley gets pulled into a case regarding a serial killer which brings a bit of excitement and suspense to the story. I loved the plot and seeing the old gang get together is always so much fun. I always look forward to that in every book. As usual when I finish one of these NY Finest stories, I’m sad it’s over but I truly enjoyed the ride.

What a wonderful way to end an amazing series. This book gave some insight on Riley and what it was like to live in his shoes. It showed us this caring loving, funny, and handsome guy who is trying to solve crimes and find love. We watch as he gets both. In the most unexpected way he finds the woman that he will call in love at a coffee shop and within that we watch love blooms and we want help but feel it in the story. Then the case of all cases...now that's what has us glued. A copycat of Jack the Ripper. Thrilling to say the least.
I just want to st it has been an honor and privilege to be part of reading this series and congrats to Christopher Harlan on wrong a spellbinding series and I can't wait to read more amazing storey that you have for us. I give this one 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy

This is the final book in the New York City's Finest series. As much as it saddens me that the series is complete, Riley makes sure to go out with a bang~
Once again, we're in the Burroughs. Riley crosses over from his home precinct to aid another detective in a serial crime that nobody else believes is just that. After a twist of events, he enlists the help of his friends. Will they be able to catch a killer in time or will this be the one that got away?
I also enjoyed the interaction between Riley and Sam. She was a refreshing breath of fresh air. She wasn't afraid to tell him like it was or go after what she wanted.
I thoroughly enjoyed every book in the series and am sorry that aren't any more guys to keep it going, but all good things must end. Thank you for taking us on the journey with you.

Riley is the 5th installment in the New York City's Finest series. Riley works with a detective from Staten Island to catch a murderer who is a copycat of Jack The Ripper. Emily is alone in her beliefs that it is a copycat until Riley comes along. He confirmed her beliefs and they along side the other NYC finest men, bring down the killer before he can claim his last victim.
This much seemed much shorter than the others so I felt it was kind of rushed and couldn't build too much on the charaters. With this aside, I loved how to closed and summed up everyone together for the first time having drinks and being thankful. You truly get the sense that all of the men and women are strong and there for each other. They became a family.

Riley is the final installment in the "New York's Finest" Series and just like all the previous books its awesome! I love how Christopher Harlan incorporated the story of Jack the Ripper in this book, a story that has fascinated me since childhood. Just like in the other books in this series there is a good amount of suspense to keep you glued to the pages. The storyline is very well developed and I really like how the other main characters in this series are incorporated.
Christopher Harlan has really become one of my favorite authors to read. His writing is so diverse that he can easily write books in different genres and keep you interested in the story. Great work once again and I'm ready to read all the books in this series all over again.

Riley is Book 5 in Christopher Harlan’s New York City’s Finest series. This story is a quick read full of a murder mystery, good friends, a hot cop and a sassy woman!
We have seen Riley in the earlier books but this is his story and it is one I am sure you will enjoy! He is the accomplished detective that realizes that work shouldn’t be the only thing you have in life. He really would like to find just the right woman to share his life with. As the saying goes...’When you least expect it’ definitely worked for Riley when Samantha ended up in the long coffee line with him. She ends up being the perfect woman to help him find the balance in his life.

I enjoyed this book as a crime story more than a romance one.
Riley is a great detective who takes his work to heart.
He dwells on his cases and doesn’t let go.
He’s no nonsense and carries the weight of what he sees on the job almost to the point of being sick.
As good as he is at his job he has no luck with dating.
Samantha is a sassy young lady.
Her father was a former cop and knows what comes with that a job.
It’s kind of an insta lust/love when they meet.
The story focuses more on the case Riley is trying to solve, which I didn’t mind at all.
I thought the plot was interesting and I liked the theme of the crime that Riley was working on.
Overall an enjoyable book.

This is the 5th and final installment in the New York City's Finest. He saved the best for last. Riley loves his job and is looking for a woman to spend his life with. Someone who understands his job and the long hours and how dangerous it is. He thinks he will never meet that special someone. Until one morning he meets Sam in a coffee shop. He ask her out on a date and she surprises him by saying yes. Will their date good? Will they have chemistry and will they have more in common than they think? So sad this is the end of this series but also excited to see what he comes up with next

Great Book! Great Series!
What a great way to end a wonderful series!
Riley is the last book in the New York’s Finest series. I loved it!
This book has it all, action, suspense, romance and hot, steamy sexyness!
It captured my attention from the first page and wouldn’t let me go! All the guys, Calem, Jesse, Quinn and Noah came together to help Riley find a copy cat serial killer. It was good to see them all together again!
Christopher did a wonderful job with this book and the whole series!
I can’t wait to see what Christopher gives us next!

This series definitely ended with a bang. Christopher Harlan adds a little bit of everything to the books in this series. There is action, suspense and some very steamy sexy times. This series holds your attention from beginning to end. Christopher Harlan writes realistic books so they aren't far fetched storylines. They are worth your time to read.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The final chapter to the New York’s Finest series. Riley takes us to Staten Island where a new serial killer is on the loose. This. Ok more than the others could be read as a stand alone. But you still get interaction with the characters from the other books. I enjoyed this book and the interaction of the couple. It shows a love of New York City and the people who inhabit and protect it. Highly recommend!!

I've really enjoyed the New York City's Finest Books but have to say this was not my favorite. The crime solving part was enjoyable, the romance for me was not what I'm used to in Christopher Harlan's books. Still closer to a 4 star than a 3 star so I rounded up. I didn't feel that chemistry between Sam and Riley for some reason. It felt forced. But I adored the parallel murder mystery and how that all came together

This is the final book in this series. From the first chapter, I knew I was going to love this one. Riley is an amazing guy. He seems to have a big heart, he is funny and caring. Then there is Samantha. she is very witty, with a big personality. Riley and Samantha together was fun to experience. Then there is the case Riley has to cover.
I have loved every minute of this series and am sad it has come to an end. Can't wait to see what Christopher Harlan will give us next!

Riley is the last book in this terrific series and oh boy it didn’t arf end in style. Packed full of action and suspense we find out what makes Riley rick and we also have a birds eye view of when he falls for Sam. I loved their banter and their chemistry and it was nice to see the whole gang again. I’m please we finally get to put the case to bed but I’m sad to see this series come to an end. I have loved the whole journey and seeing the whole gang come to life.

What a fantastic end to an amazing series of books. I have loved meeting each and every one of the heroes and heroines and following them along in their adventures. Riley and Samantha are a wonderful couple and the action is breathtaking. This book grabbed me from page one and I had to hold on tight all the way to the end. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and was privileged to do so.

Adrenaline rush
That was an adrenaline rush. There is a killer on the loose. Will they be able to stop him before he kills again. Your favorite men in blue are back and ready to solve this case. Riley meets Sam while standing in line for coffee. They hit off, but this case is stressing Riley. Will they get a chance to see where this relationship can go, or will the case destroy their chance?

Ok loved this conclusion of this 5 book series. I have to say now that all are done the best was saved for last. I loved Riley and Samantha and how they complemented each other. Then to have Calem, Quinn, Jessie and Noah help in each of the books was fun to read.
This had it all and hope everyone else will enjoy this book and the others in the series. Well done!!!

What a great series of books! I've loved them all but Riley was my favorite. His chemistry with Sam was amazing. And, all the guys come together to help Riley with his case. It was just a great way to end the series. Looking forward to more from this author.
