He will always fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves. In the throes of labour, Kacey Doka escaped her captors and their underground surrogacy ring to find Colt Redhorse. Though he'd sought seclusion on the Apache reservation for months, Colt and Kacey share something that goes deeper than tribal blood. Colt's time as a marine left him with nightmares, but his training also gave him a certain set of skills. No one is taking this woman…or this child.

I'm tempted just to say zzzzzz and leave it at that.

Proceedings get off to a relatively good start, as Kacey Doka escapes the surrogacy ring (whose details we know very little about, and answers are still not forthcoming here.) She immediately heads for the cabin that the love of her life, Colt Redhorse, lives in since being discharged from the army with a very severe case of PTSD. He's been living like a hermit. Kacey gives birth, and Colt must protect her as the surrogacy ring plot to get the baby back. Or something. I suspect Kernan had little idea what was going on either.

After that okay start, things just die in the ass. Not only does Jenna Kernan write books that have plots with holes the size of Swiss cheese, they lack action and suspense. This is an absolute snoozefest (typical of the author). Instead of giving us a compelling plot or suspense, Kernan seems instead determined to bring in every single other character from her previous mini-series for a gratuitous cameo. That's some 8 previous books' worth of characters she's shoehorning into this one for no discernible reason! Nothing happens for about 80% of the book, just Kacey being dragged to different parts of the reservation for protection.

I thought 21 was too young an age for Jake and Lori in the previous book Surrogate Escape. Well, here, Kacey and Colt are only 19! I don't read Intrigue books to read about teenagers! I've got plenty of old school 80s and 90s YA if I need that fix! In any case, they barely feel like they're that age, considering the way they speak. 19-year-olds just don't talk that way! I prefer protagonists with a little more life experience.

Then we have Colt's PTSD. He was basically non-functioning. He freaks out big-time if he's inside a car. He's pulling guns on police and FBI. He's throwing himself repeatedly into the grill of a police car. He has spent the last few months refusing to see or speak to his family. He bolts into the wilderness if he needs to escape other people. He was a complete mess. I find this a too exhausting head space to be in. It also left me highly doubtful of the seeming turnaround he achieves by book's end.

As for the end? We still know precious little about the surrogacy ring. Kacey's friends are still captives. She and Colt have to leave behind their entire lives and remain in witness protection. (A not-happy ending that Kernan has used before, of all things). So absolutely f*** all is resolved. Of course, I expected nothing less from this useless writer! So this time it was met with a form of soul-destroying resignation that crap like this can get published, as opposed to outraged anger!

I enjoyed this romantic suspense with lots of fast paced exciting action incorporated into serious topics. I liked how both main characters worked on healing together while rebuilding their relationship. The relationship between tribal police and FBI was interesting. Kasey manages to escape captivity and runs to hide with Colt who is now a recluse.

This is Book to in the Apache Protctors: Wolf Den series. Colt Redhorse has been in a secluded cabin on Turquoise Canyon Reservation. Having been a POW he needs to work through being back & being around others doesn’t help. Kacey Doka, has found herself with child, locked up in a basement & not sure how or why. She managed to escape & finds the only one she can trust, Colt. Can he do whatever to help his one true love through this & find the ones responsible, or will he let his past take control. It’s a well written store and is a must read.

Turquoise Canyon Reservation, Arizona

Colt Redhorse has always faught to protect those that cannot protect themselves and he always will. Kacey Doka is in labor as she escapes her captors and their underground surrogacy ring. Colt Redhorse has sought seclusion on the Apache reservation for months. Colt and Kacey share something that goes deeper than their tribal blood. Colt was a marine and that time has left him with nightmares but it has also given him training that gave him a certain set of skills. He is determined that no one is taking this woman or the child.

This story is just as good and explosive as the first book in the series. While they can be read as standalones they are much better and make more sense if they are read in order. This is proving to be another amazing series that leaves the reader wanting more and eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. It will have the reader wondering just what will happen next and just were the series is going to end up. This author is proving that no matter what she is writing the stories never let the reader down and will have readers looking for other books by this author.

Love ... everlasting? No one has been able to reach him, but when his one true love needs his help, Colt answers her call! An exciting story that showcases the heart of the surrogacy ring this series has been leading up to. It's a fast paced read and we get to know another Redhorse brother. Looking forward to more in the series!

The first person captive Kacey Doka thinks of to go to for help when she escapes her prison is Colt Redhorse. Her high school sweetheart, the man she thought she would spend her future with until he went off to war and left her behind, the man she still thinks of as her only love.

Colt Redhorse has been hiding out in a remote cabin for months, even from his own family because of the mental scars he brought back from Afghanistan with him. When Kacey approaches and he realizes she's in labor and desperately in need of help, he can't stand by and do nothing. He has to dig deep and find the strength to help the woman he still loves ... and the baby she's bringing into this world!

I just finished reading this book and it was a great read! Nobody has been able to reach Colt Redhorse , but when the love of his life needs him , Colt is there for her! An exciting story that has action, passion, and intrigue! And I got to know another Redhorse brother, which is exciting!! I am looking forward to the other books in this series.

He realizes she's in labor and he has to find the strength to be there for her and the baby she was bringing into the world. He has to fight his own demons, so he can figure out who has done this to her. It's an emotional journey and I loved every minute of it!

This is the 2nd series of Jenna's I'm reading. This is Colt and Kacey's story. Its dealing with 2 issues. Kacey is a missing teen no one realized is part of a ring that forces teens to carry babies that are not theirs. Colt was captured while in the military and saw his buddies killed he was the only one to survive. Unless you have walked in his shoes you have no idea what that is like. I have an idea due to my dad. He was a POW. Its a well written story for it deals with complex issues with a finesse that is amazing. It has you turning the pages rooting for Colt and Kacey as they fight for what is right. I love Kacey for she is a tough young lady who made a promise and is determined to keep it. That is at the beginning of the book and its weaved in the whole story. The other thing that is weaved in the story is her love for the baby that isn't of her genetics. This series I have a feeling comes from some were and its worth a read.

Tribal Blood is second in the Apache Protectors: Wolf Den series by Jenna Kernan and is another winner by this author! The story captivates the reader from the first paragraph and keeps the reader hooked until the very end. You even get to revisit people from past books. The only disappointment was when the story came to an end. I wanted to read more about Colt and Kacey. I am hoping they make an appearance in a future book of this series. This story has a great romance, lots of action, and a few tears. While this book can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading the entire series in order. You will just appreciate them more. Pick this one up! You won’t be disappointed!

Jenna Kernan weaves a stunning tale of intrigue and romance in the second installment of her Apache Protectors: Wolf Den miniseries. Riveting from the onset, Tribal Warrior follow a set of well-rounded, compelling characters who keep the pages turning. Gripping and edge of your seat suspense hooks you and the bubbling romance between Colt and Kacey adds that nice touch of drama. An all out entertaining story, Tribal Blood should be the next book you read!

I have enjoyed reading this entire series and Tribal Blood is no exception. It is so good I hated having to put it down for any reason! Jenna is so good at writing that you can feel the emotions each of her characters are feeling and she sure knows how to weave a love story and a mystery.
