Demons have invaded our world. They walk among us, possessing the bodies of the rich and powerful.
The archdemon Morgal escaped our last showdown to lick his wounds, but his soldiers remained behind to await orders. An evil army biding its time, gearing up for the greatest battle mankind has ever faced.
There is only way to save humanity. I have to destroy Morgal before he can unleash his unholy soldiers upon the world.
My plan is simple—I will to journey through the dimension of fear and take the fight to Morgal.
Well written. Fast paced. Action packed. Super supernatural & paranormal activities. Dastardly antagonists. Persons who endure hardship, yet, develop into sympathetic, empathetic, brave, strong, moral characters. And each book in the series was my favorite. Can't wait to read about more adventures with Raven, Archer, & ...well, you'll have to read the books to find out who joins them in their fight against evil.
If you have read the first 8 books, you will not be disappointed in this, the final book. I will not give any spoilers but will say that I was pleased with the ending. I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.
Hell Breaker is a fantastic book written by William Massa. I am not sure what the future will bring for this series, but this book was kind of like a series finale in a way, bringing a closure to what has happened so far. The plot is amazing and you really don’t know how this could possibly can end well for Raven and his friends. There are some great twists incorporated in this book. The pace as usual feels fast without being fast, because there is just constantly something happening leaving you glued to the pages until the book is finished.
I really enjoyed this book the most from all the ones in this series to date and thought the plot was perfect. I was definitely surprised by some of the choices the author made that I am sure most readers would not have anticipated, and that to me makes for good writing! I am curious to see what will be next in this series.
Volume 9 in the Shadow Detective series. Really a series of novellas rather than novels (they generally average c150 pages each) but then this is a format I generally prefer. It is the final book in the Cyon/Morgal arc and as enjoyable as the others. Like the other books it is an easy read with a fair bit of repetition from the earlier books. I believe the author is about to start a new series with Raven, Archer and Cyon which I shall certainly read.
The man who has bled and fought for Cursed City takes his demonic partner to complete the battle for humanity to the last destination; the infernal plane. Raven follows his girlfriend's trail through the underworld to the throne of his nemesis, Morgal. The battle is on and Raven cannot emerge unchanged as countless souls join his cause.
Raven and crew prepare for the final showdown against the demon lord Morgal. A fitting ending to this story arc and a must read for anyone who has perused the previous 8 books. Some surprising twists throughout, especially the ending. A winning combination of horror with emotional and mental turbulence.
Not much I can say without spoiling it. Raven has to rescue Archer. But where he has to go is unbelievable. This series is really good so can't wait to see where it goes from here.
What a great scary book this was. Lots of surprises. Raven, his former demon possessor, Archer all end up in hell. Worthy story to end the series . Or not.
Where this book excells is an underlying theme from the last few books comes to a head; however the first half of the book is written from two angles which I foudn offputting at first. Still looking forward to the next in the series.
A good ending to the current branch of lose ends we have faced in previous books. It certainly isn't a happy "everything ends nicely" ending but there is closure. I would like to read more of the series but I will take a break for a while first.
Enjoyable story, I loved it. Exciting climax to Raven and Morgal. It’s a satisfying end to their story. I hope to read more stories with Raven, Archer, and Cyon.
This is the last story in the series for now... and it's a doozy. Everything that makes the Shadow Detective a must read series is present in this latest story: effective and straightforward writing, AAA pacing and storytelling talent, awesome atmosphere and fun-to-follow characters mixed with supernatural action. I really love those books and take it from someone who did not read Urban Fantasy before, this series is a go-to, sure fire reads.
Book nine and having failed to finish Morgal, both Raven and Cyon are heading to hell to finish the job, the only problem is how to get there!! No such problem for Archer, as she unfortunately ends up there while tracking down some missing people. This is a good conclusion to Raven's quest for revenge, the nine books have all been enjoyable, but it was nice to complete the journey.
