ELUDED She’s straight-laced and wound tight. And searching for her sister is going to get her killed. In trying to find her missing sister, Charlotte Vaughn decides to take Megan’s place as a high-end bartender at an event. Except the job wasn’t bartending and the ‘event’ was at a strip club, proving Charlotte has no idea who her baby sister really is. Charlotte has no clue how close she comes to dying until a smart-mouthed, muscle-bound cartel thug named Diablo–D–saves her. Now Charlotte’s perfectly structured world is a train wreck. She’s knee-deep in drugs and scandal. Worse, D is shadowing her every move, and he won’t leave her alone until they find Megan and the money she supposedly stole from the cartel. He should make Charlotte feel fear or disgust…instead, she can’t stop her heated attraction toward this man who isn’t what he seems. Together they search seedy bars and backstreets in parts of New York City, places so scary, Charlotte didn’t know they existed. Along the way, she gains courage and a thirst for life, something as an ordinary tier 3 marketing executive, she’s never had. Taking risks never felt so good, and Charlotte learns she’s very good at acting bad. But if she doesn’t find Megan and that money, she’s going to be very dead. And if she does find her, Charlotte doesn’t want to think about going back to her boring, organized life–a life without the man she’s fallen in love with. Maybe it won’t matter. Cartel bosses tend to make examples of anyone who crosses them. Will Charlotte find Megan? Does Megan want to be found?
Really liked this one! At first I was a little iffy starting it because I had DNFed this a couple years ago and couldn't remember why, but I'm glad I tried it again. It was a lot different than I thought it would be. There were times it was predictable and cheesy, one boring POV switch, and there was plenty of grammar issues and typos, but it didn't take away from the story too much thankfully.
My favorite parts for sure was the main couple and their flirting. Like they legit had plenty scenes where they were couple goals, even before they were a couple. He was a manho previously and there were two sorta short OW parts, but one was before they even liked each other (there also a small OM scene that combatted it), and the other was part of a job. It would have bothered me maybe a tiny bit more, but the heroine was pretty mature and never caused a scene or anything like that, and luckily she's not really the jealous type. Plus, another man was trying to flirt with her which got the hero all possessive and ragey, so of course I liked that. They had started off as polar opposites where the heroine was uptight and successful, and the hero was a bit more laid back and got on her nerves a lot and his teasing was legit the best haha, but I like how as the book goes on, the heroine does start teasing him back. She did change a little too quick for me, but I did like who she became by the end of the book. Also, all the scenes where the hero would tease Steven, the guy the heroine was previously seeing and lives in her building, were just pure entertainment.
I would say the other thing that I loved about this book, is while the main couple is couple goals, the heroine's sister and her husband are legit like true love goals. I LOVED them. I actually even liked their meeting more than the main couple, and def wish we had more time with them. Her husband, Marco, is probably the best husband, and how sad he was when he thought she left him, was sad, but also pretty funny at the same time, because he's supposed to be all tough and this mafia guy, but all he would do is cry and drink thinking that she left, and it was so different than how I thought he would act.
Overall, this was definitely an enjoyable read for me, and hopefully the author will release Anna's book soon.
Nothing better than a page turner. It’s been a minute since a book has actually kept me guessing. With dual perspectives, you get two sides of the same story, happening at different times. The prologue of the book starts with Megan and how she fell in love with Marco, the insta love. Chapter 1 begins Megan’s older sister, Charlotte’s view. Basically, Megan disappears and from the way the book flows it would appear Megan just up and hauled ass. Charlotte gets concerned, naturally, and decides she will look into the disappearance. While looking for Megan, Charlotte meets D aka Diablo aka Jorge. I can’t really go into a lot of the story because of giving stuff away. The book was good. I did have some issues though. There were soooooo many grammar issues. Usually, I bypass them knowing that shit happens. But these mistakes happened on every, EVERY, page. You would assume this book would be a NA or A themed book, it IS NOT. Like so far south of NA it physically hurt. Like it could be YA, or should be YA. Don’t let my issues dissuade you from reading the book. Though, I like my books a bit steamier, this book would be for the nonsteamy readers, so to all those nonsteamers read away.
I loved the way this book came together. Seeing things from Megan's perspective first and her relationship forming with Marco was a great start to a great love story between D and Charlotte. It was nice to see both Charlotte and D develop over the course of the book. Their personalities slowly come out and change into the person they wanted to be. It was also kind of nice to have a romantic suspense book on unlimited that focused on the story rather than just how much sex they can squeeze into each scene. The heat between C and D was hot and I felt that their relationship progressed at a realistic pace (for a romance novel) and that the sex they did have actually furthered the story. I can't wait to see more by this author.
This book was WAY better than I thought! It was funny and mysterious, it pulled me in from the beginning... How every thing comes together is very unlikely but it worked! I just so happened to come across a FB advertisement for this book and saw Jason Momoa's picture and thought hmmmm... After reading that he was the inspiration behind "D", I decided to give it a try... Loved D and Charlotte.. Definitely the opposites attract and they had the best banter! I even loved how Megan and Marco met... I found it very interesting that there were NO sex scenes and I'm surprised how NOT bothered I was by it... You get more of the story which was kind of awesome!
I do wish the epilogue gave us more in terms of how D and Charlotte transitioned their life together.. I wanted to know if she got that promotion? LOL.. Other than that I really enjoyed this book.. Not a lot depth, a quick, funny, mysterious read...
I absolutely loved this book. It kept me guessing the whole time.
Charlotte is thrown into a horrible situation when she can't find her sister and she shows up to her bartending job. Once sheets there, she is pushed into a world that she knows nothing about and is forced to play a role that is completely outside of her comfort zone. When Charlotte meets D, her body guard/keeper, I could literally feel the sexual tension between them jump right off the page. As much as I didn't want Charlotte to end up with D and fall into a lifestyle that is completely bad and taboo, I couldn't help but secretly hope that they would end up together.
Through every twist and turn and the deeper Charlotte went into finding out where her sister was or what happened to her, I was right along for the ride every step of the way. If you like suspense and romance, then I would highly recommend this book!
I loved the bather between D and Charlotte! I literally could not put this book down. It’s been a while since I’ve read a good book I enjoyed so much. Glad I found this!
I was pleasantly surprised to find how much I enjoyed this book! It’s not in my “normal” category of book for which I regularly read, but Eluded, kept me on the edge of my seat and asking for more! Thoroughly enjoy Charlotte and D! Especially D... He makes me happy *blush*!
If you’re an avid reader like me, you can spend hours just searching for something good to read. Stop and read this one! New author provides just the right fresh combination of suspense, action and romance. Yes, there is adult language, but this is an adult book. I will be anxiously waiting for Ms. Michaels’ next book!
I have never written a review before but after reading this book, I had to. Whoa! It has honestly been a long time since a book has kept me guessing like this and up most of the night because I had to know what happened next! I did not want to put this book down and read it in less than 2 days...and I have kids! Eluded was mysterious, sexy and full of suspense. If I were to say something negative it would be that the sex scenes were rather tame (I wanted more details with D and Charlotte) but sometimes being different from all the other books is good. Refreshing. I would absolutely recommend this book! I bet you, too, will be sad when it ends.
I couldn’t put it down! It has thrill, adventure, intimacy, and real feelings. The author brings each scene and each character so vividly to life that it is hard to remember that you didn’t actually live it. There better be a second book and some producer better pick this up fast-it’s a hit!
While I really enjoyed the 2 main characters most of the time (up until the end) and the book kept me guessing, I wanted to throat punch most of the characters. On the plus side, there was good banter between the 2, good build up to their relationship. And up to 3/4 of the way through, I was somewhat buying it.
I thought I’d hate the book when I started because it started with the sister’s POV (who is a cautionary tale for all females), but it switched to Charlotte’s POV, who along with D, seemed to have some sort of sense. But by the end of the book, after a horrible experience the sister has been put through we are led to believe that rational, smart Charlotte has seen the error of her ways and the impulsive, historically poor decision making, pimping, drug dealing sister has shown her how to really live and love. Wha...?? After watching a woman brutalized by her kidnapper/rapist/john and having to sit at the same table watching silently, Charlotte, wondering why she didn’t say something in the woman’s defense, and knowing brother-in-law and boyfriend are now charged with finding woman and killing her for killing her kidnapper/rapist/john, Charlotte decides this is the life for her. *This* is living! After silently letting it all play out and watching said john/mob boss shot to death in front of her, she checks out her boyfriend’s body (because it is hot) and laughs at the crazy antics her sister and new life has taken her. Because her man is everything and true love is worth turning a blind eye to it all. Yeah, not buying it. Sorry, just couldn’t suspend my belief enough.

This book kept me on my toes the whole time. I was totally rooting for D and Charlotte the whole time. Granted at times I lost hope, but they ending was fantastic!
This book grabs you from the start and doesn't let go. So full of action, laughter, and sexual tension i kept turning the pages wanting more! I love her writing, best book I have read in a while.
I enjoyed this story. It had twists and turns and characters I was sure I was gonna love and didn’t and characters I was sure I was going to hate but loved. Kinda was confused for a bit but everything ties together nice. It was a fun read. Good banter and great characters.
This book started out tough but quickly turned into a romance novel. I enjoyed it anyway, although found the story line somewhat unrealistic. The gangsters were pretty nice guys and the good girls we’re really bad.
This is a page turning fast paced book that I hated to finish. The characters are very well developed and there is a perfect mix of action and humor. I will be in the lookout for more by this author.
Love the suspense in this book i like when the guy has to fight for the love of his women!! It’s s great book be sure to read it you want be disappointed.
Entertaining for when you are between books. Not great but not awful. So unbelievable but like I said , if you need an in between book, it’s ok. Some typos.
It was an easy read which entertained and held your interest. Loved the story line and the ending. Perfect book for a lazy afternoon accompanied by a glass of wine.
Like the tough guy/mafia connection. Made for real drama and a few twists. My reluctance came from how fast the love bells rang for Jorge(D) and Charlotte.
